A presentation I held at "Betabeers Valencia" on 25th April 2013 at Workether.
It's about the changing technology landscape and covers paradigms how we can better prepare our websites for the future.
I included much of the material that is listed on the website of the Future Friendly initiative: http://futurefriend.ly
Businesses and publications have been wrestling with “mobile publishing”
for a relatively short time. Apple’s iPhone was introduced in 2007, and
the iPad tablet in 2010. Other portable devices, like laptops, have been
around much longer. However, the modern smartphone/tablet phenomenon —
and the pressure created by the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend — have
created a sense of urgency that’s hard for businesses to ignore.
Project 4: Mobile and Tablet Design for Collins Catering & Eventskyriessaen
This is a Powerpoint presentation that I have created for Collins Catering & Events on the subject or mobile and tablet design. It is an attempt to convince them of the necessity of thinking about re-design for the mobile and tablet platforms.

Enough is not enough - Test Strategy for MobilevodQA
This talk was presented at VodQA Gurgaon 3rd edition (11 July 2013)
Talk Abstract:
No matter how many devices, platforms or screen-sizes you test your mobile app on, your testing may still not be enough. We’re in the age of Mobile Design. Everything, it seems, is designed with the mobile audience in mind. Why, then, are so many mobile interfaces so horrible? From sites that load the entire experience for every screen size to those which seem to consider users second-class citizens to ads, many so-called “mobile sites” seem hell-bent on making the process as frustrating as possible. Even those who actually appear to be trying to make their sites better are failing in major ways.
What mistakes are YOU making in your mobile designs that may be driving your users away? Let’s look at some Worst Practices in the industry and how making some better decisions can end up working out for your site visitors – and for your company’s bottom line.

To gauge how well the Galaxy Tab S Series can withstand the rigors of the enterprise, Samsung issued the tablet to several IT professionals from the Spiceworks Community, across multiple industries, to test the devices on (and off) the job. These case study features three IT professionals who share their experiences with the Galaxy Tab S.
For this assignment I created a slideshow and converted it into a QuickTime movie. I am recognizing social convergence and mobile/tablet device applicability, which should be embraced by organizations.
To gauge the Galaxy Note’s performance in enterprise environments, Samsung provided Galaxy Note smartphones to several IT pros in the Spiceworks Community, across multiple industries, to test on (and off) the job. Websites are all about content. People can access your content many different ways and formats with mobile devices, iPads, phones, etc. The questions are: how can we maintain control over the display of our content and keep our brand consistent? How can we try to provide the best user experience on any platform? Enter Responsive Web Design. Many experts are not leaning on one static design but on structured content that adapts to its given environment. In this talk, we are going to take a look at responsive web design techniques out there including: progressive enhancement, flexible grids, media queries, flexible images & video, & other methods of implementation.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
