Building Information Modelling (BIM) Lessons at University of Hull's Student ...Sewell Construction
Partners shared BIM lessons learned to date on the University of Hull's £30 million student accommodation complex.
The project will see six new accommodation blocks, housing 560 students, open in 2016.
A new protocol for Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been followed from the outset of the project, which saw developers Sewell Construction start on site in June.
BIM already sees collaboration and information shared between engineers, clients, architects and contractors in a 3D format and is widely used within the construction industry, however, the Government will mandate BIM Level 2 for all centrally-procured government contracts from April 2016.
Using these new guidelines on the university site means designs and briefs for the project have been more thorough than ever before, providing further cost and quality assurance for the university.
It also includes looking at the whole life of the building and ensuring facilities management plans are in place from the start, reducing variance in design.
Estates staff from the University of Hull along with project partners from Sewell Construction, ARUP, SES, GSS Architecture and Planon have shared their findings of a pragmatic approach to BIM Level 2 to date with University estates teams from across the Yorkshire region, in a bespoke event at the Hull campus.

Seminar title: Building Information Modelling for Handover and Facilities Management
Current processes of designing and building new facility, operating and maintaining it are full of gaps, and valuable data is lost. The biggest problems exist with delivery of intelligent “as-built” information to the owner of a new facility, and keeping “as-maintained” BIM up-to-date. This session will explain how to populate and maintain data created during design & construction stage (including BIM in the field), enhance it during construction and commissioning using Lean processes, and incorporate into Facility Operations & Maintenance using COBie standard. Then we will review several case studies outlining how the leading facility owners use BIM for Facility Management.

Joint meeting between CSI Northern Virginia and DC Chapters was held May 11, 2011. Greg Ceton, Director of Technical Services for CSI, presented a unique perspective on the important and expanding role CSI has in the development and data management of Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards and practice guidelines. Traditional efforts have been focused on document-centric processes, today, standards and practice guidelines now need to address model-centric practices. BIM requires new approaches for organizing and managing the information generated by the model and the project team members that work with it to allow data to be exchanged seamlessly and evaluated correctly by all project participants. The presentation presented how various CSI formats are related and the impact each has to successful new project delivery methods and data management.

Building Information Modelling (BIM): Benefits for Small Scale Construction I...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
While time passes and life changes, the development of technology is taking place in every part of our life quickly, also it affects daily life. it creates new tools, procedures, and methods for all sectors, and simplifies many operations. Nowadays, design tools that depend on computers have been used in the construction industry, it has a direct effect on the whole project life, and it has made a revolution in the construction sector. Building information modeling (BIM) simply refers to the development of a building model generated by using the computer, that model is rich of data, object-oriented, smart and also a parametric digital representation of the building.
This paper discusses the advantages of implementation of BIM technology for the small scale construction industry, it will mainly focus on quantity takeoff and accuracy of projects, firstly it presents the definition and the main concept of BIM. Then, a case study of a 3-storey building project in Baghdad is done to evaluate the effect of BIM quantity takeoff, tendering, and other effects on the project. At the end, results and challenges will be discussed.

Presented at the 5th annual Green Building Festival in Toronto, Canada, 2009.
When we talk about Building Information Modeling (BIM) we are not talking about a trend, but about a real digital revolution in the building sector, ready to break up obsolete schemes and processes.
For a long time, the engineering and construction sectors were looking for tools to increase the productivity and quality of their projects by reducing costs and delivery times. BIM has positioned itself in these sectors as the ideal tool for achieving these goals.
Electrical engineers can complete all aspects of electrical design including power and lighting, fire alarm, communications, security systems, and other building services in a single environment.
Through BIM, electrical engineers will be able to detect clashes and avoid electrical conflicts due to contradictory information between documents and building systems.
elec calc ™ BIM is an essential solution for electrical engineering. It is the first software in the world that perfectly integrates the electrical calculation in the BIM process. With elec calc™ BIM, the user can design, calculate and size the electrical installation in the digital model in IFC 4 format, generated by any 3D architecture software (Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp …).
For REVIT users, the elec calc™ BIM plug-in optimizes collaboration between the two programs. The compatibility with the electrical objects available on the BIM&CO platform is also an important resource for integrating and calculating the products of the manufacturers.
elec calc™ BIM offers unique routing capabilities. The user calculates the lengths of the cables generated in the digital model and it is also possible to perform different simulations to compare different routing scenarios. The 3D model allows for conflict detection and the BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) technology, integrated into the software, allows you to manage all communications and alerts with other operators.

Online aptitude test management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
The purpose of on-line aptitude test system is to take online test in an efficient manner and no time wasting for checking the paper. The main objective of on-line aptitude test system is to efficiently evaluate the candidate thoroughly through a fully automated system that not only saves lot of time but also gives fast results. For students they give papers according to their convenience and time and there is no need of using extra thing like paper, pen etc. This can be used in educational institutions as well as in corporate world. Can be used anywhere any time as it is a web based application (user Location doesn’t matter). No restriction that examiner has to be present when the candidate takes the test.
Every time when lecturers/professors need to conduct examinations they have to sit down think about the questions and then create a whole new set of questions for each and every exam. In some cases the professor may want to give an open book online exam that is the student can take the exam any time anywhere, but the student might have to answer the questions in a limited time period. The professor may want to change the sequence of questions for every student. The problem that a student has is whenever a date for the exam is declared the student has to take it and there is no way he can take it at some other time. This project will create an interface for the examiner to create and store questions in a repository. It will also create an interface for the student to take examinations at his convenience and the questions and/or exams may be timed. Thereby creating an application which can be used by examiners and examinee’s simultaneously.
Examination System is very useful for Teachers/Professors. As in the teaching profession, you are responsible for writing question papers. In the conventional method, you write the question paper on paper, keep question papers separate from answers and all this information you have to keep in a locker to avoid unauthorized access. Using the Examination System you can create a question paper and everything will be written to a single exam file in encrypted format. You can set the General and Administrator password to avoid unauthorized access to your question paper. Every time you start the examination, the program shuffles all the questions and selects them randomly from the database, which reduces the chances of memorizing the questions.
Harnessing WebAssembly for Real-time Stateless Streaming PipelinesChristina Lin
Traditionally, dealing with real-time data pipelines has involved significant overhead, even for straightforward tasks like data transformation or masking. However, in this talk, we’ll venture into the dynamic realm of WebAssembly (WASM) and discover how it can revolutionize the creation of stateless streaming pipelines within a Kafka (Redpanda) broker. These pipelines are adept at managing low-latency, high-data-volume scenarios.
Using recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) for pavements is crucial to achieving sustainability. Implementing RCA for new pavement can minimize carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, reduce harmful emissions, and lower life cycle costs. Compared to natural aggregate (NA), RCA pavement has fewer comprehensive studies and sustainability assessments.
A review on techniques and modelling methodologies used for checking electrom...nooriasukmaningtyas
The proper function of the integrated circuit (IC) in an inhibiting electromagnetic environment has always been a serious concern throughout the decades of revolution in the world of electronics, from disjunct devices to today’s integrated circuit technology, where billions of transistors are combined on a single chip. The automotive industry and smart vehicles in particular, are confronting design issues such as being prone to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Electronic control devices calculate incorrect outputs because of EMI and sensors give misleading values which can prove fatal in case of automotives. In this paper, the authors have non exhaustively tried to review research work concerned with the investigation of EMI in ICs and prediction of this EMI using various modelling methodologies and measurement setups.
Water billing management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Our project entitled “Water Billing Management System” aims is to generate Water bill with all the charges and penalty. Manual system that is employed is extremely laborious and quite inadequate. It only makes the process more difficult and hard.
The aim of our project is to develop a system that is meant to partially computerize the work performed in the Water Board like generating monthly Water bill, record of consuming unit of water, store record of the customer and previous unpaid record.
We used HTML/PHP as front end and MYSQL as back end for developing our project. HTML is primarily a visual design environment. We can create a android application by designing the form and that make up the user interface. Adding android application code to the form and the objects such as buttons and text boxes on them and adding any required support code in additional modular.

Conclusion
# This research has developed a framework of BIM-based construction monitoring system for the high
rise building construction project to the owners that can be used by the owner to monitoring project
progress.
# The purpose of this framework is shows the BIM-based construction monitoring system that reduce the
errors and omissions in paper on the paper-based modes of communication.
# This research data collected only reinforcement concrete structural system that included column, beam
and slab.
# This research were develop after project start.
# Good afternoon every one
# My name is Souksavath Losavanh, I am master student in civil engineering at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand
# My advisor is Associate Professor Veerasak Likhitruangsilp
# Today, I will present my research
# The topic is A FRAMEWORK OF BIM-BASED CONSRUCTION PROJECT MONITORING SYSTEM FOR OWNERS
Building Information Modeling (BIM) comes to be concerned issue of the AEC Industry.
Nowadays, they are many countries and organization that using BIM and already have BIM standard such as:
-in USA, they have National BIM standard and BIM Planning guide.
-in UK, They have ACE(UK) BIM Protocol.
-in Australia, they have National guideline for digital modelling
=============================================================
#Building Information Modeling (BIM) is rapidly reforming the way of construction project teams work together.
# the Traditional process of construction project life cycle. every participant in the project have their own database, many type of files and information exchange system is very complicate.
# BIM is reforming the way of construction project teams work together to rapidly, accurately, one data center and same information.
# BIM is increase productivity and improve the final project outcomes (cost, time, quality, safety, functionality, maintainability, etc.) for all the parties involved.
# Today, owners are rewriting the contract language, specifications, and project requirements to incorporate the use of BIM-based processes and technologies into their projects as much as possible.
# Construction progress monitoring has been recognized as one of the key elements that lead to the success of a construction project.
====================================================
Furthermore:
# In construction project, The owner care about construction progress of construction project.
# owner see the several benefit of BIM that can provide the alternative way for monitoring constriction project.
# But, the problem is How to using BIM for Construction monitoring ?
Appropriates = ເໝາະສົມ
# the objective of this research is Developing the framework of the BIM-based Construction monitoring system for construction project to owners.
==========================================================
Scope of this research is :
#Develop and Implement BIM for monitoring the status of construction project in the perspective ( ເພີສະເປກຖີບ ) of the project owner.
# The application will be use in a high-rise building construction project.
# Case study is Chamchuri 10 project own by Chulalongkorn University.
# The software that used in this research includes : -Revit 2013 (Thirteen) for modeling the BIM model.
-MS Excel 2010 for analysis the information.
# In this research , I divide BIM to five layer of information:
Construction project information
Building information
Component information
Visualize information
Nucleus of information
=============================================
# After identify the information that require for monitoring construction project
# The information can divide in to three group:
-Planning and design information
- Construction information
-Operation information
That is show in the figure
# The illustration showing the overview of this system
# In this system include of 2 main party: designer and owner.
In this system divide to 2 stage and 4 part:
#Stage 1 is Pre-construction stage
#Stage 2 is Construction stage
+Part1 is Design part
+Part2 is Prepare for monitoring
+Part3 is construction and monitoring
+Part4 is Progress report
Part1 is design part, that have 5 steps:
1.Owner identify necessary information for project monitoring
2.Owner establish an information packet for project monitoring to designer
3.Designer create a packet of information to BIM-Design model
4.Owner verify BIM-Design model
5. BIM-Design model
Part2 is prepare for monitoring part, that have 5 steps:
1.Designer transfer BIM-Design model to Owner (Arc, St and MEP file)
2.Owner upload BIM-Design model to database
3.Owner create BIM-Master
4.Owner link BIM-Model files to BIM-Master file
5.Owner share BIM-Master files to owner site office
The master model is the mainly BIM-model that combine of three type of design-model via link and woekset at owner office database
Part3 is construction and monitoring part, that have 10 steps:
1.Import BIM-Master file from site office to tablet PC
2.Engineer select project phase
3.Engineer select object to update
4.Input current progress information
5.Take site photo, Upload to cloud storage and Generate image URL.
6.Updated all items
7.Export BIM file to site office
Part4 is Progress report part, that have 5 steps:
1.Import files from Site office
2.Combine BIM-Record model to BIM-Master
3.Filter Information
4.Export information to text file
5.Import text file Excel temple file
6. Report of project progress
# Tablet PC is used for collecting and updating information on construction site
# Current construction site image is taken by Tablet-PC
# Three wall screen is used for report of project progress at the owner office
