Humanism In The Middle Ages
This class has taught me that humanism can be defined as examining the creative and intellectual
contributions made by every culture that stresses human logic, values, and scientific method
(Humanities Through the Ages).
When I think of the middle Ages, I envision romantic images of knights in shining armor, magnificent
castles, and glorious cathedrals. But the Middle Ages, (medieval) was much more. There were rise of
cities, economy and money that started in Florence Italy, Mediterranean empires, the townspeople
benefited from the rise but the rise damaged the nobles.
The rise of nations, crises of the church, new military development caused a decline in the medieval
period. Shortly after the Black Death (Bubonic and the Plagues) a new period

Analysis Of Habitat For Humanity
Introduction
Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) envisions a world where everyone has access to affordable housing
(Habitat, 2015). Habitat seeks to break the cycle of poverty by partnering with low income families to
help build a decent, affordable home. Habitat was started in 1976 by Evangelical Christians as a non
profit organization that built affordable houses for families in need (Baggett, 2000). Habitat offers a
sweat equity program that requires the homeowner to dedicate 300 hours of labor in building their
home and other habitat homes (Habitat, 2016). Through the sweat equity program, Habitat aims to
make homeownership possible to the economically disadvantaged. Habitat provides this service by
offering affordable homes in safe neighborhoods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, developers are receiving generous tax breaks to finance their projects, leaving the residents and
low income family to subsidize the cost of their own displacement (COA, 2015).
However, the work that Habitat does aims to make a difference by offering affordable homes to lower
income families. Habitat offers monthly mortgage payments averaging $400
$450, including taxes and insurance, and makes homeownership possible for qualifying families
(Habitat, 2016). Habitat s history shows helping build and revitalize over 800,000 homes and serves
over three million people worldwide (Habitat, 2016).
Although previous research demonstrates a positive correlation between homeownership and the
overall quality of life, few studies focus on how homeownership has impacted the lives of the Habitat
community. Most research of homeownership is conducted on nationally representative samples of
ownership and fails to study the low and moderate income homeowners (Grinstein Weiss et al., 2011).
Conclusion
Homeownership has many rewards and benefits for the microsystem, macrosystem, and mesosystems
as a whole. The economic and social benefits of homeownership improve

Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., Killett, A. M. (2016). How Financial Cutbacks Affect the Quality of Jobs and
Care for the Elderly. ILR Review,69(4), 991 1016. doi:10.1177/0019793916640491
Introduction:
The purpose of this article is to illustrate how financial cutbacks affect job quality as well as quality of
care (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., Killett, A. M., 2016, p. 991). The article further goes on to predict that
ongoing and accelerated cost places pressure on facilities that ultimately affects the quality of jobs and
care in nursing homes based on their approach. The quality of residential care is a global concern and
as the number of aging adults only grows, this concern will only grow (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., ...

The authors posed a question on whether or not the financial objectives of a for profit or non profit
play a role in the quality care. This study lacks the examination of whether or not these nursing homes
have the resources to organize certain work processes or the actual outcomes they achieve in terms of
care. The authors again use the two different approaches throughout the article to determine whether
these approaches and financial cutbacks affect the quality of workforce that ultimately affect the
quality of care residents receive (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., Killett, A. M., 2016, p. 995).
Methods:
The authors took a qualitative design to their research to developed an understanding why the quality
of care varied across several nursing homes (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., Killett, A. M., 2016, p. 995).
This study included 12 different nursing homes which consist of a mixture of non profit and for profit
nursing homes and residential living communities over the course of three years (2009 2012). Each
nursing home varied from 10 to 65 bed facilities that varied in the terms of the level of care provided.
Field research consisted of repeated site visits to each nursing home or living community, interviews,
and observations. Each visit to the different nursing communities lasted from four to six weeks.
During this time, the authors conducted 175 different interviews including department heads, nurses,
caregivers, residents, and family or relatives of the

Clinically Related Data in the Healthcare Industry
Healthcare industry generates large volumes of clinically related data every minute. It can be in the
form of electronic records, scan reports, printed documents, images etcetera. The sources of these
records are technologies like CT scan, MRI scan, Ultrasound, ECG, Dialysis, biopsy equipment etc.
The objectives of this smart approach are to make this data useful and productive for analysis and
study of health patterns and create statistics. A detailed analysis can help the community to get
awareness for improved nutrition and hygiene. Objectives Perform empirical analysis on the data and

Airway Obstruction In COPD
The presence of airflow obstruction which is largely irreversible is a major feature of COPD. It is
proposed to be the result of a combination of small airways narrowing, airway wall inflammation [89]
and emphysema related loss of lung elastic recoil [1, 90, 91]. The pathologic features of COPD are
structural changes of the lung, including emphysema and small airway remodelling [92]. Small airway
remodelling in COPD is characterized by adventitial fibrosis and mucus cell hyperplasia, and may
involve increased airway smooth muscle (ASM) mass, particularly in severe disease [92 96]. This is
indicated by persistent infiltration of inflammatory cells, including macrophages, neutrophils and T
and B lymphocytes in the airway wall [94 96]. Small airway remodelling could also result from direct
effects of CS and LPS exposure on structural cells of the airway wall, independent of inflammation
[9]. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in mice model of PPE and LPS induced COPD were observed airway remodeling, lung
inflammation, goblet cell hyperplasia, alveolar enlargement [59]. In other studies, similarly,
emphysematous destruction, parenchymal inflammation, mucus hyper secretion and airway
remodeling in murine model of COPD were reported after cigarette smoke exposure [40, 97 101]. In
addition, significant increase in wall thickness and airspace size observed after smoke exposure in

Secret Intelligence Service Failure
The Secret Intelligence Service was derived by the Secret Service Bureau which was founded in 1909.
The bureau was a joint initiative by the Admiralty (authority responsible for the command of the
Royal Navy in the UK until 1964) and the War Office (department of the British Government
responsible of the Army between the 1700 s 1964). MI6 was initially founded to oversee activities
being conducted by the Imperial German Government at the time.
MI6 didn t play a very big role throughout World War 1 because it could not establish a solid network
over German soil and due to this, most of the information was being supplied by the military.
After the Great War many of the country s resources had been depleted, however MI6 created a close
relationship with the diplomatic service (a service that provided authorized personnel a diplomatic
immunity so that they were allowed safe passage to other countries). This helped with building
networks in foreign countries.
With this, the Secret Intelligence Service began focusing on Communism , in particular, Russian
Bolshevism . A plan was made to overthrow the Bolshevik Government, and everything was in check
for who would lead after that, however all of a sudden, many Russian politicians were being murdered
and MI6 took the blame, so the operation ended up as a Failure.
During the inter war period, many other institutes were created thanks to the SIS. These included,

Christian Sociological Model Paper
The social landscape of the U.S. may naturally be an organic development. Society develops as areas
of influence rise and fall over time. Frequently these areas of influence are internal, but at times they
also are external. This is especially true as society becomes more aware of international developments
and an economy becomes increasingly global, or a society engages activities not originally held as
part of the original society. However, there are other parts of society that may hold deeper influence,
such as religion, political activities, and family structures. These areas also influence each other, and
in different ways depending on the society and time in history. In other words, society can be defined
by those that are part of it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stuckenberg (1880) makes a significant distinction with the model, identifying it as part of theology
vs. a natural science (p. 27). The outcome of this distinction sets the premise for the authority, or
modus operandi of the model, as Christian. For the purpose of this research, the definition of
Christianity was held in light of God s people operating under Biblically held motives and principles,
or anticipating the ultimate reality that there will be a new heaven and earth where humans will be
raised from the dead as the renewed world s rulers and priests (Wright, 2010, p. 67). This is achieved
through kingdom establishing work of Jesus and the Spirit, which we grasp by faith, participate in by
baptism, and live out in love ; through the Spirit led, habit forming, truly human practice of faith,
hope, and love, sustaining Christians in their calling to worship God and reflect his glory into the
world. (Wright, 2010, p. 67). In other words, the Christian Sociological framework at root is a

Capstone Of Reflection
Reflecting on the Journey
Throughout my two semesters in CommSkills 1015 and 1016, I have learned a lot, and developed
academically. The countless essays and speeches have helped me to become a better writer, and
speaker. Prior to my time in CommSkills, I would write without a goal. I would sit down and words
would go down on paper, but they never truly accomplished the goals that I had while writing.
Through attention to MAP, attention to detail and practice I have come a long way. The Integrative

their studies in real life. Throughout my year in CommSkills, I have greatly developed my ability to

It is also important that you are able to see these strengths and weaknesses in aspects of your life
outside of writing papers and speeches. Once I realized why I struggled with procrastination, I was
able to take advantage of it. I knew that I would always prefer to be doing something active so I used
this knowledge to get a lot of hours in volunteering with the Special Olympics. Instead of
procrastinating by going for a run or to the gym, I went to special olympics events on tuesdays and
thursdays. I was not required to do more than ten hours of service work for class, but once I started I
truly could not stop. I loved and still love, taking the time to support people with disabilities, but it did
not only help them. I always leave Special Olympics events with a refreshed perspective on life. It
puts into perspective both your happiness and the daily struggles we all face. If my friends at Special

Exodus Reflection Analysis
Exodus teaches Christians a significant lesson regarding the importance of living in obedience to God
s Word. The Israelites engaged in idolatry and rebelled against God repeatedly. As a result, God
allowed the Egyptian king to enslave them for many years, and they endured intense suffering for
refusing to be faithful to God. God showed compassion by sending Moses and his brother Aaron to
tell Pharaoh to release the Israelites. Yet, despite the many plagues that God caused, God hardened
Pharaoh s heart, and he would not free God s people. They struggled with being faithful to God.
Because they broke the patriarchal covenant, they encountered severe afflictions in the land of Egypt
(Exodus 1 11). God gave Moses and Aaron a staff and commands them to drop it in front of Pharaoh
when he asks them to present a phenomenal sign. Aaron and Moses approached the Egyptian king and
did as the Lord instructed, and the pole transformed into a snake. Yet, Pharaoh called his sorcerers,
and they threw their rods down. Pharaoh s magicians sticks also turned into serpents, but Aaron s
wand consumed their wands. Nonetheless, God toughened Pharaoh s heart, and he would not free the
Israelites (Exodus 7:8 13).
God orders Moses to confront Pharaoh by the Nile s riverbank and explain to him that the Lord sent
Moses and Aaron to release the Israelites so they may praise the Lord in the desert. God commands
Aaron to extend his staff along the Egyptian waters. When Aaron obeyed God s command, all

Persuasive Essay On Honey Bees
For every one out of three bites we take, it is due to the work of the honey bees. Many of the foods
such as fruits require pollination from a pollinator to be produced. As well as fruits, there are also
vegetables, nuts, seeds, fiber, and hay (Hoyt, 10). All essential to the world and all must be pollinated.
The little insects play a huge role in maintaining natural plant communities and ensuring production of
seeds in most flowering plants. In the United Kingdom, honey bees create an additional crop value of
165 million every year, with no additional cost to farmers (Gross, 2). With the hundreds of species of
bees, they are the world s leading pollinators. It is only now that we see that we have taken pollination
for granted. Praising pollination as one of nature s free services. It is not one of the factors that are
considered when looking at the agricultural possibilities of a given farm area, such as water, fertilizers,
or pesticides (Hoyt, 13). All around the world, there have been years recorded where the honey bees
just suddenly disappear. It is due to all of the agricultural and climate change. Honey bees should not
travel too far from their hive, but recently it is not possible for them to remain close and collect nectar
as well because of the decline of plants they can pollinate (Hoyt, 13). Their voyaging distances have
increased and not every honey bee makes it back to the hive due to the long distances they now have
to travel (Hoyt, 15). To decrease the distance they travel, humans must plant more gardens for the
honey bees to pollinate instead of allowing them to venture out blindly in search of the nectar they
need (Hoyt, 16). If Colony Collapse Disorder were to prevail over the honey bees, it would spell
disaster for the honey business as well as our entire food population. One in ten hives suffers from
Colony Collapse Disorder (Calabro, 8). The good news is that Colony Collapse Disorder has been in
decline over recent years. Some researchers even say that the endangerment of honey bees is a false
case. There are statistics that show that many of the foods that honey bees are responsible for
pollinating such as apples and almonds have actually increased over the years (Calabro, 8). If the food

Racial Equality
The second paragraph of the United States Declaration of Independence states that all men are created
equal, but America is still experiencing racial inequality in today s society. Racial equality should be
something that we strive to achieve in our country. Inequalities based on gender, race, and social
characteristics are unfair and an issue we the people can change. We still experience injustice through
race in many different categories of life such as education, employment, and wealth. The issue of
racial inequality is a social barrier that Americans are yet to overcome.

Workplace inequalities are when an employee is discriminated against because of their race , age ,
gender, class or sexual orientation. As Americans you would think that we would have this concept
under control with all our laws in place, but unfortunately we do not. Along with workplace
discrimination , we have race pay gaps as well. I believe the wage gap comes from greed , we have
come so far as a country that this should not be an issue anymore. Wages in America are the primary
source of income for out people. There are many factors to why there are wage gaps, lack of
education, family issues and of course discrimination. According to the Pew Research Center, white
men earn more money than Hispanics, African Americans and women. Discrimination can make
obtaining employment difficult and make life more harsh, While 40% of blacks say their race or
ethnicity has made it harder for them to succeed in life, just 5% of whites and 20% of Hispanics say
this. (Pew Research Center, 2016) Consistent discrimination in America can cause people to believe
what their discriminators are saying making them feel shameful and hopeless. This is a social barrier
that has proven difficult for Americans to overcome due to people witnessing discrimination and

Conflict Between Conflict And Conflict
Conflict is generally considered a typical part of human interactions and is not in itself essentially
damaging. Rather, it is how conflict is managed that determines whether or not the outcomes are going
to be constructive or damaging (Deutsch, 2006). Thus, conflict management, the method of managing
a dispute and associated conflicts, is very important in producing satisfactory or disappointing
outcomes. It is therefore vitally important to know your conflict management style, along with its
inherent strengths and weaknesses, as a leader of a healthy organization, in order to deal with conflict
in a positive manner.
What Is Conflict?
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, conflict is a struggle for power, property, a strong
disagreement between people, groups, etc. that results in often angry argument or a difference that
prevents agreement or a disagreement between ideas, feelings, etc. Although we normally think of
conflict as negative, it is a normal byproduct of social interaction and is not in itself damaging.
Conflict can occur very easily in an organization, both horizontally and vertically. Prause and Majtuba
(2015) identified four components which create conflict. First, there must be a difference of opinion or
position of the parties involved. A misunderstanding or discrepancy in opinions or needs should take
place (Daria Prause, 2015). Secondly, the parties of the conflict should be identified. Although some
parties are not aware of their

Because of the amount of water passing through that area of a roof, it is important to consider how the
area will be protected when replacing an asphalt shingle roof. There are different methods for
shingling the area with dimensional asphalt roofing material. Closed cut valleys are most popular
aesthetically. In a closed cut valley application, shingles from one side of the valley extend across the
valley while shingles from the other side are trimmed back a few inches from the valley centerline.
Any flashing is not exposed. When using the open cut valley roofing method the flashing is visible.
Open cut valleys may be used to create visual interest or enhance features on some design styles.
Some contractors will use ice and water shield under the shingles, others will choose to install metal
flashing. Further, some contractors will install both for extra protection. A professional roofing
contractor will consider many factors and make a recommendation as to the best method and style for
the specific project. A detailed estimate will include these recommendations. RIDGE

politician because of his rigidity and inability to listen to people and to take into account their
opinions. Thus, I can state with confidence that this person made an ambiguous impression on

From the very beginning I would like to mention that I do not like the main character of
the movie due to his way of life and attitude toward other people. Initially, Kane dedicates his
life to the idea of service to society, but inevitably evolves into a person, who uses his

Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun
So now it s life. Money is life. Once upon a time freedom used to be life now it s money. I guess the
world really do change . . . These are the words of Lena Younger (Mama) in the play, A Raisin in the
Sun as she effectuated her role as the superior head of the Younger family. In order to truly decipher
what the author wishes to share through the eyes of this character, it is important to take a thorough
and insightful analysis of her. By closely evaluating her role in the family, what she wants, her
personality, and, even what inanimate object she can be compared to, the reader will see what the
author, Lorraine Hansberry, had in mind as she matured this character. Mama s role in the Younger
family is very beneficial for the entire household. Her role continuously portrays her as arbitrator
throughout the play mainly because of the situations the family keeps running into. When Ruth, Mama
s daughter in law, was pregnant she ended up needed some help dealing with it and Mama was there

For many decades, many have tried to obtain a perfect mixture of a healthy state of mind in relation to
a healthy body. In order to do this, people exercise their bodies along with their minds. However,
overly exercising can lead to consequences. As a result, a balance needs to be met. When displaying
too many hard core views, the mixture of a healthy mind and a healthy body disappears. Therefore, it
is very important to obtain a balance with strict rules along with some imagination. When looking at
facts, it is always one sided, but when using an imagination, the possibilities become endless and can
be looked upon as positive. In the novel Hard Times, there are characters that display a strict view on
facts rather than imagination. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of how Thomas Gradgrind s teachings have failed is Louisa. Louisa sacrifices
herself as a wife to Josiah Bounderby in order to give Tom more freedom and to make Thomas
Gradgrind happy. Ultimately, she is very unhappy and just a way to get her family into Josiah
Bounderby s business. As a result of two poor outcomes of factual learning failures, it is safe to
conclude that the teachings of Thomas Gradgrind are at fault. Opposed to Thomas Gradgrind is Josiah
Bounderby. He does not believe in education and doesn t think that it is useless to be teaching. The
conflict that Thomas Gradgrind faces with Josiah Bounderby is that they are both different
representations on how to educate their children. Although they both share the views of factual
knowledge, the twists in their views are how important education is. Thomas Gradgrind is extremely
strict with the rules and cannot stray from his set standards. However, Josiah Bounderby says that
education is to be tumbled out of doors, necks and crops and out upon the shortest allowance of
everything except blows (Dickens 314). It is evident to say that Josiah Bounderby sees a strict
education as unnecessary and does not think it should exist. Josiah Bounderby owns a bank and a
factory and has a good living. He has high political standards and is considered a very powerful man.
Most people look up to Josiah Bounderby with high regard since he is wealthy. Due to his self made
lies, he thinks

In conclusion, Bristol Omnifacts feels performance appraisal is very important to its workplace.
However, its use for feedback is altered from most workplaces given the nature of its industry. The
performance appraisal system seems to be running smoothly enough for the company. However, it
appears the company may be in denial of some factors that could be improved. Such as problem
solving, past oriented/future performance appraisal balance and rater s biases. Bristol Omnifacts
should firstly, consider applying the problem solving approach more effectively so that employees
know what targets to work on. They should also 1) implement self appraisals and the 360 degree
method so that there is a balance between past oriented and future methods and 2) rotate supervisors
who conduct the evaluation interviews so that rater s biases can be reduced. 1.0 Introduction 1.1

Motherless Princesses In Disney Films
Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Jasmine from
Aladdin, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and even Elsa and Anna from Frozen all have one thing in
common: They are motherless. This presentation will explore Disney s motherless princesses and how
women are represented in the films. Not only are the mothers absent but when there is a mother figure
in place she is cruel and evil. To understand exactly why this is so prevalent in many Disney films,
this work will build upon the works of Ann Hall and Mardia Bishop, Marjorie Worthington, and Lynda
Haas. Thus, it appears Disney movies have removed mothers and replaced them with evil or uncaring
mother figures. Also, multiple sources contend that the, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

is that older women women of motherhood age, at least are not to be trusted; sure, your stepmother

One can only wonder what is this image of the evil and jealous older woman might discourage girls

Early Onset Anorexia Essays
Early Onset Anorexia
In recent years, it seems that the public has begun to pay more attention to eating disorders. This trend
could be a consequence of the heightened nutrition and fitness craze that the 1990 s has brought about,
or possibly a result of more intense and conclusive research studies. More clearly defined definitions
of anorexia and bulimia in the DSM IV may also have contributed to better diagnosis of eating
disorders.
Anorexia nervosa is a disorder that in the majority of cases will start when the patient is a teenager.
The mean age at onset is figured to be about 17 years of age. The distribution of cases appears to be

and then the cameras have been taken inside. It is still quite dark but there are little colours visible. In
this scene were Neo is getting captured, there are some intense sounds. You can hear some violins

Types Of Exorcism
Types of Exorcism
Prayer is a powerful tool in the battle against evil and is also a powerful tool in exorcism. When we
think about exorcisms, the first type of demonic activity that likely comes to mind is demonic
possession. Possession is the rarest form of spiritual activity but comes to mind of most people around
the world when we talk about exorcisms. Hollywood has capitalized on this type of demonic activity
and has created hundreds of movie titles based on this type of activity alone. However, the most
common exorcisms are not at all like one would witness on the big screen. In fact, most Christians
have probably said a form of minor exorcism prayer since the Our Father is considered to be one.
There are three main forms of exorcism that is practiced within the Anglican Church: exorcism of
objects, places and people.
Objects Almost any object, other than a holy one, can be infested.
Places Some examples of the cause of unwanted activity within a place, according to the Exorcism:
The Findings of a Commission Convened by the Bishop of Exeter, include souls of the departed,
human sin, place memories, poltergeist and demonic interference.
People If a person requires an exorcism, the most important thing to keep in mind is the safety of the
person affected and the safety of those around. A thorough psychological examination should always
be conducted first to rule out any natural underlying causes for the symptoms present. If it is found to

The Yolk Sac And Its Effects On The Human Bodies
375 million years ago, a fish like creature crawled onto the land. This transition into an existence on
dry terrain gave rise to amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and finally to humans. As early reptiles
colonized in adverse new environments, they adapted features to help them survive during their
struggles for food and territory. Our reptilian ancestors were changing their bodies and these new
features are evident in our human bodies today. One of these features that link us to our reptilian
ancestors is the yolk sac which is evident in the human embryo as well as the eggs of reptiles. As
reptiles adapted to life on a dry earth, they needed to keep their eggs from drying out an so evolved a
new type of egg which enclosed the embryos in an amnion filled sac and covered it with a hard shell.
Reptiles and humans both carry the yolk gene but it is no longer functional in humans as we evolved
and no longer needed yolk to feed our embryos. But those broken yolk genes are still in our genome
and link us to these ancient egg laying animals. Skin is another important feature that connects us to
reptiles. In order to withstand the dry air on land, reptiles developed layers of dead skin to insulate
them and create a water tight barrier. Humans have inherited these same layers of dead skin to prevent
our bodies from drying out. Our skin not only protects our bodies but it is responsible for other
features which we share with our reptilian ancestors; important structures that originate

pederasts were adult males, usually socially prominent, who have an erotic attraction to adolescent

Damn you why don t you fire? and even called them lobsters. A constant taunting will cause

people to become more sensitive to surroundings and even confuse voices. When hearing the word fire

COST MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING
ANSWER 1.1
a) DIRECT COSTS: A direct cost is defined as the price that can be directly applied to production of
goods. The direct cost classifies direct material, direct labour and manufacturing overheads. The direct
cost is related to labour, raw material and expenses related to the production of goods. Direct cost is
simply as the cost that is applied directly to the product. For example wages of full time and part time
staff.
b) INDIRECT COSTS: Indirect cost can be defined as the cost which cannot be directly applied to the
product. In simple words any cost apart from direct material, direct labour and manufacturing
overheads is considered as indirect cost. For example insurance of company building, wages of
cleaners working in the company premises etc.
c) FIXED COSTS: A fixed cost is referred to a cost which doesn t changes with circumstances. If
there is a fixed cost of any product or service one has to pay the cost. For example, the rent of the
house is fixed that has to be paid every week, no changes are acceptable. For example salary of full
time staff.
d) VARIABLE COSTS: A variable cost is a changing cost. In case of any changes the cost of the
product changes. For example, the cost paid to a casual worker may vary. More hours done by the

Indie Music Research Paper
Alternative music is a subgenre of rock music, which emerged from indie music in the 1980 s, and has
since gained a lot of popularity. The word alternative in the dictionary translates to unconventional,
uncommon, and non standard, which is so cool because all the music is under the same genre
umbrella, but none of the bands sound the same at all, and I like to think of it as the melting pot of
music. Since each band has a different style it is likely you ll be able to find something you enjoy. It
originated from bands who didn t have a major record label, and they instead signed to smaller labels

Summary Of Farhad Manjoo s Breaking News Is Broken
Farhad Manjoo (2013) argued in his aptly titled piece Breaking News is Broken , that living in a
breaking news society means that we receive information faster than we can make sense of it, and that
in essence, real life moves much slower than these technologies (Manjoo, 2013). Referencing the
Boston Marathon Bombings as an example in which major media outlets published inaccurate
information from online sources, he argued that major news outlets depend on technology that make it
possible to follow news too closely (Manjoo, 2013). Channels such as Twitter offer a direct route to
distribute a message or information to the general masses, often with little context for examining the
message s veracity (Ehrenberg, 2012:22).

Analysis Of Ulysses By Tennyson
The Meaning Behind Ulysses
(An Analysis of Three Messages From Ulysses by Tennyson)
Alfred, Lord Tennyson lived from 1809 to 1892 during the victorian age. As a boy, he was very
sensitive and was charmed by the words far, far away. Due to his extremely bitter father, Tennyson
was eager to leave the house and attend the Cambridge University. In the poem Ulysses, Tennyson
extends the original story of the hero of Homer s epic the Odyssey. The poem entails details about the
hero growing restless, in need of a journey, but unfortunately old with age. In the poem Ulysses,
Alfred, Lord Tennyson implies three major messages.
In the poem Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, the first major message is there is always a search for
adventure. In the poem, Ulysses is an old adventurer who is unwilling to accept that he is getting old
and will eventually no longer be able to explore. Since the old man once traveled the world, he would
like to continue on his quest of exploration. How dull it is to pause, to make an end. To rust
unburnished, not to shine in use! (22 23). Tennyson used key characteristic words in lines 22 and 23.
He is explaining how Ulysses realized how boring it is to sit at home. It also implies that Ulysses
essentially rust from lack of use. In Ulysses, a dramatic monologue detailing the Greek hero s
escapades, Tennyson succinctly offers his view that humans are shaped by a combination of all life s
experiences. (Shaw). This quote is explaining that us,

The Current And Future Structure Of The Music Industry
1221581
Report critically discussing the current and future structure of the music industry in the United
Kingdom.
In this written report I shall be critically discussing the current and future structure of the music
industry in the United Kingdom.
The current structure can be laid out in the following manner:
Source: (Dustry, 2015)
PART 1 Labels, publishers and the Live Sector.
Labels
Firstly the focus of this report will be on the roles and the position of music labels. There are two
types of music label; a major label and an indie (independent label). A music label is a separate entity
which will supply an agreement between the artist and the label for a certain number of tracks to be
recorded, manufactured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following on further from this, the label then pays the artist royalties from sales. In more recent times,
both indie and major labels are including what is known as Ancillary Rights . Essentially, this is a
clause that labels add into a contract that states that they receive a cut of artist s earnings which aren t
directly related to the recording and release process. For example, should the artist sell out and
perform a huge capacity venue, the label would then expect a percentage of that live income.
Writing about indie labels in The Music Industry handbook , Rutter states Historically, many indies
have grown to become larger corporate structures, whereby their artists have become successful
through healthy consumer interest. Major music companies also work with successful independents to
upscale their operations; the major s powerful promotion and distributions mechanisms facilitate
greater product exposure for a percentage of the proceedings (Rutter, 2011)
Publishers
Publishers, or the act of publishing, entails an organisations acquirement of the copyrights to an artist
s material. We can look at the role of a publisher for both a songwriter, a performer, and an artist who
both writes their music and goes out to perform. Publishers will dedicate time, money, energy and
passion into an artist s career and help them to develop their songs into the industry.
Once a writer has completed a piece of music, there are

Why Should Kids Get Summer Break
Should Your Child Get A Summer Break? Do you think kids should have summer break? Summer
break gives families more time to make memories, it releases stress off of the students and teachers, it
also gives more time for events to be made. Summer break can help out on a lot. No kids would want
to stay in a hot classroom all year round when they could be outside enjoying the summer days.
The first reason why kids should have summer break is because summers are made for making
memories. According to Gary Huggins, kids need to enjoy time and vacation with their families.
Vacation is freedom for everyone, including the students and teachers. Furthermore, Huggins believes
that you can tie in what you ve learned over the year with memories you re making in the summer

doing what their family or coaches have planned. Some kids practice a single sport, which means they
could play all year round (Holland). Most families would rather be able to have time to go places with
their kids, not have to get it all done in a certain amount of time. During the school year, kids usually
have a bedtime or homework, if your family or sport coach has something planned, there might not be
time for other things (Holland). Birthday parties, reunions, weddings, sport events, etc. can be made
easier in the summer instead of kids and teachers having to take off work time for those

Inhibit Moral Behavior
A moral inhibitor is a condition that hinders our moral behavior and leads to acting irrationally. It
arises when the right thing to do, and the action that is being performed are not the same. In the next
600 words, I will present and explain a heuristic that inhibits moral behavior. I will then speak of a
situation that is an example of a heuristic. I will also describe what steps to take in the described
situation to help ensure moral behavior. Moral behavior is an aspect of our humanity that is essentially
learned at a very young age. Our moral behavior is sculpted based on our culture and our
surroundings. It is responsible for the actions we choose to commit. When our moral behavior is
inhibited, we stray away from the right thing to do and act in ways that would seem malicious and
cruel to a rational bystander. Social and situational context can explain what induces moral people to
act in heinous ways. A heuristic is a mental shortcut that readily comes to mind and simplifies
cognitive tasks. The solution itself is not perfect or guaranteed to be optimal, but it is enough to satisfy
the immediate goals (1). A heuristic affects moral behavior by invoking automatic evaluations, which
strongly influence judgements and actions and can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every public zoo has in their possession, sedatives for the animals. Sedatives that could have bought
some time and take control of the situation, and regain the sense of our moral behavior. A trained
zookeeper, one whom Harambe is very familiar with, could have gone into the enclosure to calm
Harambe and retrieve the boy. Heuristics need to be recognized as departures from normative theories

Nuclear Sclerosis Case Study
A 67 year old female Caucasian patient comes in to the clinic complaining of decreased vision,
affecting the left eye more than the right. She is being treated for hypertension, cholesterol, and
diabetes. Her distance vision is 20/25 OD and 20/40 OS and her near vision is 20/25 OD and 20/50
OS. Her prescription was found to be 11.00 1.00X180 OD and 13.50 1.50X015 OS, which is classified
as high myopia. A 1+ nuclear sclerosis was found in the right eye. A 2+ nuclear sclerosis and a
paracentral subcapsular cataract were found in the left eye. Due to these findings, it was determined
that glasses could not fully fix the patients vision. This lead to a referral to a retinal specialist and a
cataract surgeon. No other abnormalities were noted on the initial examination. The patient then came
back when the cataract surgery was performed on the left eye and the visual acuity improved to 20/25
at distance and 20/25 at near OS. All things concerning the surgery seemed normal for a day after the
IOL placement. Six months later, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main way light is obstructed on its way to the retinal is by a cataract in the lens, which is the case
in this patient. These can form two major ways: ultraviolet light damage and aging. Ultraviolet light
damage leads to an abundance of free radicals. These free radicals act on the crystalline proteins and
cause them to clump together, creating a cataract.[2] Another way cataracts are formed is by the
natural process of aging. Concentrations of alpha crystallins fall off with age with leads the other
subtypes to aggregate and form scleroses (cataracts).[3] This is what is leading to the glare that the
patient sees at night. The cataract is scattering the light entering her eye and leading to blur on the
retina. Both of these could have contributed to the cataracts in this patient due to her being over 65
and due to her age naturally being exposed to more

Theme Of Power And Corruption In The Most Dangerous Game
Power and corruption have always gone hand in hand with the world today. The characters in the short
stories. Monkey s Paw by Richard Connell is about a family getting the gift of a monkey s paw that
holds three wishes and instead of heeding the warning of an old friend, they use the wishes for
horrible consequences. The Most Dangerous Game follows the story of a young man who gets trapped
on an island with a man called General Zaroff that hunts the unfortunate people who stumble across
the island. How to transform is about an eighth grader who learns lessons about life as he practices
playing basketball in an old gym. These stories have the motif of power and corruption throughout the
story, and though this motif comes the theme of each short story. Power and corruption are used
throughout The Most Dangerous Game to show some myths hold true. In The Most Dangerous Game
when Rainsford first describes General Zaroff right hand man Ivan The menacing look in the eyes did
not change. The revolver pointed as rigidly as if the giant were a statute (Connell 3).Ivan has the
power here to let Rainsford go,however he is corrupted by the general s thinking. He is also corrupted
by his love of power that he holds over the innocent victims that land on this island. As the night
carries on General Zaroff describes his methods of restocking the island, he says Sometimes an angry
god of the high seas sends them to me, sometimes when providence is not so kind

Arguments Against Libertarianism
Libertarianism is the social political philosophy that emphasizes autonomy, freedom of choice, and
individual rights above all else. Its name comes from Liberty as in a liberty to act as a morally
autonomous agent without public or private interference. Although Libertarianism holds a generally
skeptical view of political government, it does not entirely argue for anarchism. Libertarianism does
argue for a limited government, not necessarily limited in its actual physical size or scope, but rather
limited in its ability, and power, to interfere into the aforementioned autonomy of a moral citizen.
There are many schools of thoughts within Libertarianism. The purpose of this paper is not to give a
defense of a specific Libertarian philosophy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As was argued before, it is wrong for a state to impose moral values (even if those values are right).
Even more so, to do so creates inequality. Take the contemporary policy debate of whether an income
bracket should be taxed lower or higher. Conservatives may argue for a lower tax on certain, and
liberals may argue for higher tax on the rich. Both are wrong and unfair, and will only create
inequality. It is wrong, and immoral, to target a single group based on materialistic attributes such as
income. One cannot be selected for more harsher or lenient treatment based on how much money one
makes. It should be equal for everyone as it is the only fair position of not having a law benefit one
group because of X or Y trait or characteristic. I disagree with Rawl s progressive taxation arguments.
If a person, born equally into a society with equal opportunity, happens to make more money than the
rest, he or she should not be taxed any differently. For doing so would allow the state to impose a
restriction on an autonomous citizen that had not fault in virtue of making more or less money. Equal
representation under the law, and tax code, should be what is fair. Inequalities are bound to arise, and
Rawl s concern of them is a fair one, but to impose a penalty on a demographic because of X
characteristic is unfair. The law should be equal to all. Libertarianism advocates for equality, as

Themes In Among The Hidden By Margaret Peterson Haddix
Risky for a Reason Like a ghost, he hides all the time and is afraid of the light. Among the Hidden is a
fictional book by Margaret Peterson Haddix that takes place in a dystopian society. The story is about
a boy named Luke Garner who does not legally exist. There is a law that families are not allowed to
have more than two children, and Luke has two older brothers. Therefore, Luke has spent his whole
life in hiding. Luke had never met anyone except his immediate family, until now. When Luke sees
another third child s face in his neighbor s house he decides to risk his life to go meet her. Taking risks
can be scary, but can change the way the life path twists forever. A static character is someone who
stays the same throughout the whole book. Once Luke finally sprints to the neighbor s house, he
discovers another third child whose name is Jen. Jen is a static character in Among the Hidden. Luke
and Jen almost instantly become friends. Jen is a very confident girl; she is confident in everything she
does and believes in. She is also outgoing. Plus, Jen has a one track mind. For example, Stop Jen?
That s like trying to stop the sun, (Haddix 127). Lastly, Jen is a leader. She runs the whole rally to free
all third children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jen explains to Luke when he is too scared to go to the president s house; You can be a coward and
hope someone else changes the world for you, (Haddix 111). In this quote, Jen declares to Luke that
sometimes you have to take a risk to change everything for yourself. Luke can not just let other people
fight for him. He has to take action for himself. Luke ends up taking action and it works out for him.
He gets to go to school and meet other children. Margaret Peterson Haddix sets an inspirational tone
for this section of the story. With Jen s powerful words and Luke s brave actions, all readers feel
inspired to take

Differences Between Idealism and Realism
Philosophers say the key to understanding human life is answering the really philosophical questions
such as why are we here? Where did we come from? Where will we go? And so on and so forth. This
has truly been a debate for the ages in philosophy, one that has stimulated thinkers, philosophers,
theologists and scientists for thousands of years, hence led emergence of idealism and realism as two
major traditional philosophical schools of thought in the realm of philosophy. So this paper projects
the meaning of idealism and meaning of realism then discusses in detail the basic assumptions of
idealism and those of realism and how these two traditional schools of thought differ and their
implications within the educational setting.

We achieve greater and greater knowledge through proper study of the world. In Realism, a person is
an empty vessel for knowledge which can only come from outside of the self, through observation.
Aristotle is an exponent of realism. He asserts that matter has an objective reality and that matter is the
underlying principle of all things.
Philosophers like Herbert Spencer and John Locke postulated that matter is the ultimate reality. They
say that things we experience with our senses such as hills, trees, animals, sand, water and man are
simply not ideas in the mind of the observing individuals or even in the mind of an external observer.
Rather they exist in themselves independent of the mind. Realism categorized in Religious realism,
Aristotle Realism and Scientific realism Religious realism represented by Thomas Aquinas asserts that
mind and matter form the composite. Man is a composite of body and soul. The spirit is more
important and higher than the body. He argues that this is proved through revelation and reasoning.
Seetharamu (1989) argues that Aristotle Realism was proposed by Aristotle who was Plato s student
where by Aristotle believed that the world could be understood at a fundamental level through the
detailed observation and cataloguing of phenomenon. That is knowledge, which is what the word

Vancouver s Temperature Analysis
Average Annual Temperature Winnipeg s climate is colder than Vancouver s climate by 6°C. This is
mainly due to the fact that Winnipeg has a slightly higher latitude by 0.6°, and has a substantially
higher elevation by 235 m. These two factors are the main reasons why Winnipeg s average annual
temperature is lower than Vancouver s average annual temperature, since the greater these values are,
the colder the climate appears to be. Annual Temperature Range Winnipeg s annual temperature range
is wider by 22°C. This is mainly due to the fact that Vancouver is on the west coast, so this moderates
the temperature range a lot more for Vancouver than Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba do for
Winnipeg. This moderates the temperature because water takes

Persuasive Essay About Marijuana
Weed is addictive and is gateway drug. You shouldn t smoke it. This is a common misconception
about Marijuana that a variety of people believe. This is because they do not know the history of it and
what is in the Marijuana that makes it, what people say is addictive. They also probably do not know
that there are disadvantages and advantages of using Marijuana. At the end of the day, it is really the
choice of the user. But people should become more aware of where Marijuana originated from, what it
is made from and the pros and cons of smoking it if they choose to.
Marijuana has a long history of human use. But when was it first brought into the world? In Asia,
around 500 BC, that was when Marijuana was first introduced to mankind. It ... Show more content on

Marijuana is usually smoked through joints, which are hand rolled, but can be smoked out of a bong,
or pipe. The edible products are mostly made from weed butter and is then mixed with cookie dough,
brownie mix, or cake batter. So why do so many people think it is bad for us? That s because the THC
is what makes the Marijuana addictive . THC increases the level of dopamine, which is the pleasure
chemical, in the brain. Therefore, people who smoke a lot have a higher chance of becoming
dependant on the use of cannabis and then this dependency can turn into an addiction.
Possibility of addiction is only one of the disadvantages on Marijuana. There are short term and long
term effects from the use of the drug. The most common short term effects include paranoia, difficulty
with concentration, anxiety, fatigue, and hallucinations. If you re not around good people, you will end
up having a bad experience and be very paranoid and anxious. (Daily User One, 2017) This person
said that the people you are around and your surroundings in general can also alter how you react to
the THC in your system. Other short term effects that are more dangerous include increased heart rate
(which is particularly dangerous to people with heart disease), decreased blood pressure, and damaged
blood vessels caused by the smoke. The long term effects include memory loss, IQ level (due to blood

that the proposed contracts threaten employment. Situations such as perceived abuse in political power
became a common place for grass root organizations advocating progressive change to the free
enterprise markets by organizing campaigns to block elected officials who supported public/private

sheer volume activity; that thirty two of the sixty six privatization contracts were not a mixed of the

  • 2. Humanism In The Middle Ages This class has taught me that humanism can be defined as examining the creative and intellectual contributions made by every culture that stresses human logic, values, and scientific method (Humanities Through the Ages). When I think of the middle Ages, I envision romantic images of knights in shining armor, magnificent castles, and glorious cathedrals. But the Middle Ages, (medieval) was much more. There were rise of cities, economy and money that started in Florence Italy, Mediterranean empires, the townspeople benefited from the rise but the rise damaged the nobles. The rise of nations, crises of the church, new military development caused a decline in the medieval period. Shortly after the Black Death (Bubonic and the Plagues) a new period ... • 3. Analysis Of Habitat For Humanity Introduction Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) envisions a world where everyone has access to affordable housing (Habitat, 2015). Habitat seeks to break the cycle of poverty by partnering with low income families to help build a decent, affordable home. Habitat was started in 1976 by Evangelical Christians as a non profit organization that built affordable houses for families in need (Baggett, 2000). Habitat offers a sweat equity program that requires the homeowner to dedicate 300 hours of labor in building their home and other habitat homes (Habitat, 2016). Through the sweat equity program, Habitat aims to make homeownership possible to the economically disadvantaged. Habitat provides this service by offering affordable homes in safe neighborhoods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, developers are receiving generous tax breaks to finance their projects, leaving the residents and low income family to subsidize the cost of their own displacement (COA, 2015). However, the work that Habitat does aims to make a difference by offering affordable homes to lower income families. Habitat offers monthly mortgage payments averaging $400 $450, including taxes and insurance, and makes homeownership possible for qualifying families (Habitat, 2016). Habitat s history shows helping build and revitalize over 800,000 homes and serves over three million people worldwide (Habitat, 2016). Although previous research demonstrates a positive correlation between homeownership and the overall quality of life, few studies focus on how homeownership has impacted the lives of the Habitat community. Most research of homeownership is conducted on nationally representative samples of ownership and fails to study the low and moderate income homeowners (Grinstein Weiss et al., 2011). Conclusion Homeownership has many rewards and benefits for the microsystem, macrosystem, and mesosystems as a whole. The economic and social benefits of homeownership improve ... How Financial Cutbacks Affect the Quality of Jobs and Care for the Elderly. ILR Review,69(4), 991 1016. doi:10.1177/0019793916640491 Introduction: The purpose of this article is to illustrate how financial cutbacks affect job quality as well as quality of care (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., Killett, A. M., 2016, p. 991). The article further goes on to predict that ongoing and accelerated cost places pressure on facilities that ultimately affects the quality of jobs and care in nursing homes based on their approach. The quality of residential care is a global concern and as the number of aging adults only grows, this concern will only grow (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The authors posed a question on whether or not the financial objectives of a for profit or non profit play a role in the quality care. This study lacks the examination of whether or not these nursing homes have the resources to organize certain work processes or the actual outcomes they achieve in terms of care. The authors again use the two different approaches throughout the article to determine whether these approaches and financial cutbacks affect the quality of workforce that ultimately affect the quality of care residents receive (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., Killett, A. M., 2016, p. 995). Methods: The authors took a qualitative design to their research to developed an understanding why the quality of care varied across several nursing homes (Burns, D. J., Hyde, P. J., Killett, A. M., 2016, p. 995). This study included 12 different nursing homes which consist of a mixture of non profit and for profit nursing homes and residential living communities over the course of three years (2009 2012). Each nursing home varied from 10 to 65 bed facilities that varied in the terms of the level of care provided. Field research consisted of repeated site visits to each nursing home or living community, interviews, and observations. Each visit to the different nursing communities lasted from four to six weeks. During this time, the authors conducted 175 different interviews including department heads, nurses, caregivers, residents, and family or relatives of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Airway Obstruction In COPD The presence of airflow obstruction which is largely irreversible is a major feature of COPD. It is proposed to be the result of a combination of small airways narrowing, airway wall inflammation [89] and emphysema related loss of lung elastic recoil [1, 90, 91]. The pathologic features of COPD are structural changes of the lung, including emphysema and small airway remodelling [92]. Small airway remodelling in COPD is characterized by adventitial fibrosis and mucus cell hyperplasia, and may involve increased airway smooth muscle (ASM) mass, particularly in severe disease [92 96]. This is indicated by persistent infiltration of inflammatory cells, including macrophages, neutrophils and T and B lymphocytes in the airway wall [94 96]. Small airway remodelling could also result from direct effects of CS and LPS exposure on structural cells of the airway wall, independent of inflammation [9]. ... • 7. Secret Intelligence Service Failure The Secret Intelligence Service was derived by the Secret Service Bureau which was founded in 1909. The bureau was a joint initiative by the Admiralty (authority responsible for the command of the Royal Navy in the UK until 1964) and the War Office (department of the British Government responsible of the Army between the 1700 s 1964). MI6 was initially founded to oversee activities being conducted by the Imperial German Government at the time. MI6 didn t play a very big role throughout World War 1 because it could not establish a solid network over German soil and due to this, most of the information was being supplied by the military. After the Great War many of the country s resources had been depleted, however MI6 created a close relationship with the diplomatic service (a service that provided authorized personnel a diplomatic immunity so that they were allowed safe passage to other countries). This helped with building networks in foreign countries. With this, the Secret Intelligence Service began focusing on Communism , in particular, Russian Bolshevism . A plan was made to overthrow the Bolshevik Government, and everything was in check for who would lead after that, however all of a sudden, many Russian politicians were being murdered and MI6 took the blame, so the operation ended up as a Failure. During the inter war period, many other institutes were created thanks to the SIS. These included, Section N (in charge of intercepting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Christian Sociological Model Paper The social landscape of the U.S. may naturally be an organic development. Society develops as areas of influence rise and fall over time. Frequently these areas of influence are internal, but at times they also are external. This is especially true as society becomes more aware of international developments and an economy becomes increasingly global, or a society engages activities not originally held as part of the original society. However, there are other parts of society that may hold deeper influence, such as religion, political activities, and family structures. These areas also influence each other, and in different ways depending on the society and time in history. In other words, society can be defined by those that are part of it. ... The outcome of this distinction sets the premise for the authority, or modus operandi of the model, as Christian. For the purpose of this research, the definition of Christianity was held in light of God s people operating under Biblically held motives and principles, or anticipating the ultimate reality that there will be a new heaven and earth where humans will be raised from the dead as the renewed world s rulers and priests (Wright, 2010, p. 67). This is achieved through kingdom establishing work of Jesus and the Spirit, which we grasp by faith, participate in by baptism, and live out in love ; through the Spirit led, habit forming, truly human practice of faith, hope, and love, sustaining Christians in their calling to worship God and reflect his glory into the world. I would sit down and words would go down on paper, but they never truly accomplished the goals that I had while writing. • 10. Exodus Reflection Analysis Exodus teaches Christians a significant lesson regarding the importance of living in obedience to God s Word. The Israelites engaged in idolatry and rebelled against God repeatedly. As a result, God allowed the Egyptian king to enslave them for many years, and they endured intense suffering for refusing to be faithful to God. God showed compassion by sending Moses and his brother Aaron to tell Pharaoh to release the Israelites. Yet, despite the many plagues that God caused, God hardened Pharaoh s heart, and he would not free God s people. They struggled with being faithful to God. Because they broke the patriarchal covenant, they encountered severe afflictions in the land of Egypt (Exodus 1 11). God gave Moses and Aaron a staff and commands them to drop it in front of Pharaoh when he asks them to present a phenomenal sign. Aaron and Moses approached the Egyptian king and did as the Lord instructed, and the pole transformed into a snake. Yet, Pharaoh called his sorcerers, and they threw their rods down. Pharaoh s magicians sticks also turned into serpents, but Aaron s wand consumed their wands. Nonetheless, God toughened Pharaoh s heart, and he would not free the Israelites (Exodus 7:8 13). God orders Moses to confront Pharaoh by the Nile s riverbank and explain to him that the Lord sent Moses and Aaron to release the Israelites so they may praise the Lord in the desert. God commands Aaron to extend his staff along the Egyptian waters. When Aaron obeyed God s command, all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Honey Bees For every one out of three bites we take, it is due to the work of the honey bees. Many of the foods such as fruits require pollination from a pollinator to be produced. As well as fruits, there are also vegetables, nuts, seeds, fiber, and hay (Hoyt, 10). All essential to the world and all must be pollinated. The little insects play a huge role in maintaining natural plant communities and ensuring production of seeds in most flowering plants. In the United Kingdom, honey bees create an additional crop value of 165 million every year, with no additional cost to farmers (Gross, 2). With the hundreds of species of bees, they are the world s leading pollinators. It is only now that we see that we have taken pollination for granted. Praising pollination as one of nature s free services. It is not one of the factors that are considered when looking at the agricultural possibilities of a given farm area, such as water, fertilizers, or pesticides (Hoyt, 13). All around the world, there have been years recorded where the honey bees just suddenly disappear. It is due to all of the agricultural and climate change. Honey bees should not travel too far from their hive, but recently it is not possible for them to remain close and collect nectar as well because of the decline of plants they can pollinate (Hoyt, 13). Their voyaging distances have increased and not every honey bee makes it back to the hive due to the long distances they now have to travel (Hoyt, 15). To decrease the distance they travel, humans must plant more gardens for the honey bees to pollinate instead of allowing them to venture out blindly in search of the nectar they need (Hoyt, 16). If Colony Collapse Disorder were to prevail over the honey bees, it would spell disaster for the honey business as well as our entire food population. One in ten hives suffers from Colony Collapse Disorder (Calabro, 8). The good news is that Colony Collapse Disorder has been in decline over recent years. Some researchers even say that the endangerment of honey bees is a false case. There are statistics that show that many of the foods that honey bees are responsible for pollinating such as apples and almonds have actually increased over the years (Calabro, 8). If the food ... Racial equality should be something that we strive to achieve in our country. Inequalities based on gender, race, and social characteristics are unfair and an issue we the people can change. • 17. Conflict Between Conflict And Conflict Conflict is generally considered a typical part of human interactions and is not in itself essentially damaging. Rather, it is how conflict is managed that determines whether or not the outcomes are going to be constructive or damaging (Deutsch, 2006). Thus, conflict management, the method of managing a dispute and associated conflicts, is very important in producing satisfactory or disappointing outcomes. It is therefore vitally important to know your conflict management style, along with its inherent strengths and weaknesses, as a leader of a healthy organization, in order to deal with conflict in a positive manner. What Is Conflict? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, conflict is a struggle for power, property, a strong disagreement between people, groups, etc. that results in often angry argument or a difference that prevents agreement or a disagreement between ideas, feelings, etc. Although we normally think of conflict as negative, it is a normal byproduct of social interaction and is not in itself damaging. Conflict can occur very easily in an organization, both horizontally and vertically. Prause and Majtuba (2015) identified four components which create conflict. First, there must be a difference of opinion or position of the parties involved. A misunderstanding or discrepancy in opinions or needs should take place (Daria Prause, 2015). Secondly, the parties of the conflict should be identified. Although some parties are not aware of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This transition into an existence on dry terrain gave rise to amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and finally to humans. As early reptiles colonized in adverse new environments, they adapted features to help them survive during their struggles for food and territory. Our reptilian ancestors were changing their bodies and these new features are evident in our human bodies today. One of these features that link us to our reptilian ancestors is the yolk sac which is evident in the human embryo as well as the eggs of reptiles. As reptiles adapted to life on a dry earth, they needed to keep their eggs from drying out an so evolved a new type of egg which enclosed the embryos in an amnion filled sac and covered it with a hard shell. Reptiles and humans both carry the yolk gene but it is no longer functional in humans as we evolved and no longer needed yolk to feed our embryos. But those broken yolk genes are still in our genome and link us to these ancient egg laying animals. Skin is another important feature that connects us to reptiles. In order to withstand the dry air on land, reptiles developed layers of dead skin to insulate them and create a water tight barrier. Humans have inherited these same layers of dead skin to prevent our bodies from drying out. • 36. Indie Music Research Paper Alternative music is a subgenre of rock music, which emerged from indie music in the 1980 s, and has since gained a lot of popularity. The word alternative in the dictionary translates to unconventional, uncommon, and non standard, which is so cool because all the music is under the same genre umbrella, but none of the bands sound the same at all, and I like to think of it as the melting pot of music. Since each band has a different style it is likely you ll be able to find something you enjoy. It originated from bands who didn t have a major record label, and they instead signed to smaller labels as that was much easier to do. The internet is an important factor in sharing and discovering new bands. The only problem for small indie bands is how hard it is for them to find their footing without local support, and local record stores to share their music (Kruse). Record stores are great places for you to find information about upcoming concerts, find old records, and discover new bands. A popular concert venue in Salt Lake is actually located at a small park downtown and every Thursday night in the summer, since 2005, the park hosts smaller bands, and the tickets, no matter who the artist is are 5 dollars a piece. Summary Of Farhad Manjoo s Breaking News Is Broken Farhad Manjoo (2013) argued in his aptly titled piece Breaking News is Broken , that living in a breaking news society means that we receive information faster than we can make sense of it, and that in essence, real life moves much slower than these technologies (Manjoo, 2013). Referencing the Boston Marathon Bombings as an example in which major media outlets published inaccurate information from online sources, he argued that major news outlets depend on technology that make it possible to follow news too closely (Manjoo, 2013). Channels such as Twitter offer a direct route to distribute a message or information to the general masses, often with little context for examining the message s veracity (Ehrenberg, 2012:22). ... • 38. Analysis Of Ulysses By Tennyson The Meaning Behind Ulysses (An Analysis of Three Messages From Ulysses by Tennyson) Alfred, Lord Tennyson lived from 1809 to 1892 during the victorian age. As a boy, he was very sensitive and was charmed by the words far, far away. Due to his extremely bitter father, Tennyson was eager to leave the house and attend the Cambridge University. In the poem Ulysses, Tennyson extends the original story of the hero of Homer s epic the Odyssey. The poem entails details about the hero growing restless, in need of a journey, but unfortunately old with age. In the poem Ulysses, Alfred, Lord Tennyson implies three major messages. In the poem Ulysses by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, the first major message is there is always a search for adventure. In the poem, Ulysses is an old adventurer who is unwilling to accept that he is getting old and will eventually no longer be able to explore. Since the old man once traveled the world, he would like to continue on his quest of exploration. How dull it is to pause, to make an end. To rust unburnished, not to shine in use! (22 23). Tennyson used key characteristic words in lines 22 and 23. He is explaining how Ulysses realized how boring it is to sit at home. It also implies that Ulysses essentially rust from lack of use. In Ulysses, a dramatic monologue detailing the Greek hero s escapades, Tennyson succinctly offers his view that humans are shaped by a combination of all life s experiences. (Shaw). • 39. The Current And Future Structure Of The Music Industry 1221581 Report critically discussing the current and future structure of the music industry in the United Kingdom. In this written report I shall be critically discussing the current and future structure of the music industry in the United Kingdom. The current structure can be laid out in the following manner: Source: (Dustry, 2015) PART 1 Labels, publishers and the Live Sector. Labels Firstly the focus of this report will be on the roles and the position of music labels. There are two types of music label; a major label and an indie (independent label). A music label is a separate entity which will supply an agreement between the artist and the label for a certain number of tracks to be recorded, manufactured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following on further from this, the label then pays the artist royalties from sales. In more recent times, both indie and major labels are including what is known as Ancillary Rights . Essentially, this is a clause that labels add into a contract that states that they receive a cut of artist s earnings which aren t directly related to the recording and release process. For example, should the artist sell out and perform a huge capacity venue, the label would then expect a percentage of that live income. Writing about indie labels in The Music Industry handbook , Rutter states Historically, many indies have grown to become larger corporate structures, whereby their artists have become successful through healthy consumer interest. Major music companies also work with successful independents to upscale their operations; the major s powerful promotion and distributions mechanisms facilitate greater product exposure for a percentage of the proceedings (Rutter, 2011) Publishers Publishers, or the act of publishing, entails an organisations acquirement of the copyrights to an artist s material. We can look at the role of a publisher for both a songwriter, a performer, and an artist who both writes their music and goes out to perform. Publishers will dedicate time, money, energy and passion into an artist s career and help them to develop their songs into the industry. Once a writer has completed a piece of music, there are ... Summer break gives families more time to make memories, it releases stress off of the students and teachers, it also gives more time for events to be made. Summer break can help out on a lot. No kids would want to stay in a hot classroom all year round when they could be outside enjoying the summer days. The first reason why kids should have summer break is because summers are made for making memories. According to Gary Huggins, kids need to enjoy time and vacation with their families. Vacation is freedom for everyone, including the students and teachers. Furthermore, Huggins believes that you can tie in what you ve learned over the year with memories you re making in the summer (Huggins). • 42. Inhibit Moral Behavior A moral inhibitor is a condition that hinders our moral behavior and leads to acting irrationally. It arises when the right thing to do, and the action that is being performed are not the same. In the next 600 words, I will present and explain a heuristic that inhibits moral behavior. I will then speak of a situation that is an example of a heuristic. I will also describe what steps to take in the described situation to help ensure moral behavior. Moral behavior is an aspect of our humanity that is essentially learned at a very young age. Our moral behavior is sculpted based on our culture and our surroundings. It is responsible for the actions we choose to commit. When our moral behavior is inhibited, we stray away from the right thing to do and act in ways that would seem malicious and cruel to a rational bystander. Social and situational context can explain what induces moral people to act in heinous ways. A heuristic is a mental shortcut that readily comes to mind and simplifies cognitive tasks. The solution itself is not perfect or guaranteed to be optimal, but it is enough to satisfy the immediate goals (1). A heuristic affects moral behavior by invoking automatic evaluations, which strongly influence judgements and actions and can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its name comes from Liberty as in a liberty to act as a morally autonomous agent without public or private interference. Libertarianism does argue for a limited government, not necessarily limited in its actual physical size or scope, but rather limited in its ability, and power, to interfere into the aforementioned autonomy of a moral citizen. As was argued before, it is wrong for a state to impose moral values (even if those values are right). Even more so, to do so creates inequality. Take the contemporary policy debate of whether an income bracket should be taxed lower or higher. Conservatives may argue for a lower tax on certain, and liberals may argue for higher tax on the rich. Both are wrong and unfair, and will only create inequality. It is wrong, and immoral, to target a single group based on materialistic attributes such as income. One cannot be selected for more harsher or lenient treatment based on how much money one makes. It should be equal for everyone as it is the only fair position of not having a law benefit one group because of X or Y trait or characteristic. I disagree with Rawl s progressive taxation arguments. If a person, born equally into a society with equal opportunity, happens to make more money than the rest, he or she should not be taxed any differently. For doing so would allow the state to impose a restriction on an autonomous citizen that had not fault in virtue of making more or less money. Equal representation under the law, and tax code, should be what is fair. Inequalities are bound to arise, and Rawl s concern of them is a fair one, but to impose a penalty on a demographic because of X characteristic is unfair. The law should be equal to all. Philosophers like Herbert Spencer and John Locke postulated that matter is the ultimate reality. They say that things we experience with our senses such as hills, trees, animals, sand, water and man are simply not ideas in the mind of the observing individuals or even in the mind of an external observer.
