Webinar: Empowering Continuous Learning with the Tin Can API (xAPI) Rustici Software
Employees are demanding more continuous and varied approaches to learning, but many L&D organizations struggle to keep up. One big reason: a lot of that informal learning happens on the open web, inside mobile apps, and in real life – not in an LMS. This means that L&D teams aren’t getting the whole picture. And without it, they’ll have an increasingly difficult time connecting learning to business results.
Learn how CUES is using Tin Can API (xAPI) to plug L&D back into learning, and in the process plug learning back in to business results.
In this webinar, we’ll discuss:
*New types of learning methods and technologies for continuous learning
*The Learning Tech Stack and why a cohesive one is important
*How CUES empowers continuous learning for their members

ICF session "Coaching the Distance: Increase Your Impact with Technology and ...Ralf Wolter
Coaching the distance – Increase your Impact with Communication Technology Awareness
The coaching community invests in the conference to connect to like minded people who love coaching and want to know more. The session will group them into teams where they can call upon each other to experience their first attempts at new technology. They may need help in walking through the steps. But instead of depending on their family members for technical guidance and support, they now connect with someone from the coaching community and will learn along the way. After the session they will be invited to an additional free-of-charge session where they can acutally use the technology in real time with their own computer and Internet connection in their office.
This session will provide an overview and some detail in two areas:
1. Tools and Communiction Technology: what is available in the virtual world? How can coaches benefit from the latest developments in communication technology? What should you use and what shouldn't you use? How can you differentiate yourself from other coaches?
This section has two aspects: first we will describe how coaching conversations benefit from video and collaboration tools, such as Cisco webex, Adobe Connect, GoToWebinar, and others. Second, we will provide a toolkit that helps coaches to be present and active in the Internet, such as file sharing in the cloud, instant messaging, blogs, social business networks, on-demand training, and more.
We will provide live demonstrations for both sections, so attendees get a look and feel of the functionality. (This assumes we have Internet connectivity. Alternatively, we will record demos in advance).
2. Communication aspects of global coaching: tools are only a vehicle, just as the phone was in the past. Once a connection between a coach and a client has been setup, it requires the full set of coaching competencies to create a trusted environment for the client. How do you establish a trusted relationship in a virtual room? How can high-definition video help to build trust faster? What should be considered when coaching globally? We will start with simple challenges such as time zones and drill deeper into other underlying aspects.

Building Talent Pipelines vs Lean/Just-In-Time Recruiting - Talent 42 KeynoteGlen Cathey
In theory, building a talent "pipeline" sounds like an ideal strategy, ensuring that you always have a steady supply of the talent you're looking for. In reality, there are many issues with building talent pipelines, and they all "leak" extensively. This presentation, delivered as the closing Keynote of Talent42 2014, deeply explores the core issues associated with building tech talent pipelines, proposes that recruiting is essentially a company's human capital supply chain and examines the many benefits of applying lean principles to the recruiting process, including reducing the 7 deadly wastes and Just-In-Time delivery.
60-minute webinar focused on how to manage high-impact virtual teams, including a collaborative awareness model and the 3C model (Calibration, Collaboration, and Celebration).
Modern Learning Ecosystem Design with xAPIMargaret Roth
While the L&D community is increasingly familiar with the Experience API (xAPI) and its value for data collection and interoperability, few examples exist to clarify the value of xAPI as applied within different existing learning infrastructures. This session focused on sharing the ways xAPI can connect and provide value in any eLearning environment.
These slides present a series of different learning ecosystem configurations and the ways xAPI and a learning record store (LRS) can provide value in each case. The three main learning ecosystem configurations examined range from the simplest (LMS and LRS) to three systems connected (LMS, LRS, and CMS) to the fully modular (LRS, LMS, simulations, microlearning, performance assessment, and other tools). For each of these configurations, the presentation shares specific values and practical applications gained by connecting an xAPI LRS to the existing system.
This presentation was originally shared as part of the eLearning Guild's 2018 Learning Solutions conference on March 28, 2018.
Why xAPI? A Business Leader's Getting Started GuideMargaret Roth

How to Plan for an xAPI Pilot at xAPI Camp DevLearn 2018 - Yet AnalyticsAllie Tscheulin
From an organization-wide executive directive to become more data-driven, a retail corporate L&D team took an internal look at their own data practices. Realizing that they had an overwhelming lack of transparency into their learning initiatives and a great amount of data that had gone unused, the team developed a transformation vision to create a single system of record for learning to enable observability, granularity, and accountability for all team members. The team was committed to the vision of xAPI; however, the data and information they needed in order to make actionable change for their learners was locked away in non-interoperable formats, and they recognized the need to develop a data strategy and implementation plan.

Reimagining Progress Reports for Mastery-Based EducationMargaret Roth
Leveraging xAPI and the Yet xAPI Learning Record Store, data from across learning tools and platforms have been unified to provide automated reporting to learners and other stakeholders at Khan Lab School.
Khan Lab School is an independent school associated with Khan Academy that runs a personalized, mixed-age program with a project-based learning approach. Because KLS tracks mastery instead of letter grades and groups students by independence level instead of age, a new kind of reporting system is needed to show student progress. Yet Analytics has built role-specific data dashboards for students, teachers, and leadership that pulls data from digital and in-person learning activity to provide a unified view of student progress at KLS.

IEEE TAG xAPI Webinar Series: Improving the Learner Experience Through an xAP...Margaret Roth
As part of the xAPI Case Studies Webinar Series hosted by the IEEE LTSC TAG xAPI, this presentation gives an overview of the creation of the Learning Commons. The Learning Commons is a shared space for connecting and accelerating educator learning created in partnership by the Learning Accelerator and Yet Analytics with support from innovative education organizations. The Learning Commons is an xAPI-enabled, multi-source content portal designed from the ground up with xAPI as part of the data model, powering a unified learner experience interface that allows learners to see how the informal learning content they work with aligns to competencies and skills they are working to build. As learners utilize content through curated playlists, skill and competency development is automatically tracked and presented back to learners, cohort leaders, and content providers through xAPI data.
The Google Slides version can be accessed at http://goog.gl/HfuscA. This presentation was presented in the xAPI Case Studies Webinar Series hosted by the IEEE LTSC TAG xAPI group on April 17, 2018.
From Data Visualization to Role-Specific Data DiscoveryMargaret Roth
When we think about creating an xAPI data ecosystem, we often focus on how will we collect and connect data from across the Learning & Development and HR ecosystem. But once we have that data all in one place in our Learning Record Store, now we can really get to using it. In this presentation to the Fall 2017 xAPI Cohort, we explored why and how we can use data visualizations and interactive analytics to help us see patterns in our data and apply that insight to our work. Additionally, we took a look at some role-specific xAPI data dashboards from the point of view of Managers, Instructors, and Learners.
These slides are from EdTechWomen's annual facilitated networking discussion at SXSWedu and feature questions on a discussion on the intersectionality of race and the women's rights movement, as it relates to roles in education, technology, and the workplace.
Presented to the xAPI learning cohort in February 2017, these slides outline different models for designing modular learning ecosystems that leverage the Experience API.
Data Centers - Striving Within A Narrow Range - Research Report - MCG - May 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) expects to see demand and the changing evolution of supply, facilitated through institutional investment rotation out of offices and into work from home (“WFH”), while the ever-expanding need for data storage as global internet usage expands, with experts predicting 5.3 billion users by 2023. These market factors will be underpinned by technological changes, such as progressing cloud services and edge sites, allowing the industry to see strong expected annual growth of 13% over the next 4 years.
Whilst competitive headwinds remain, represented through the recent second bankruptcy filing of Sungard, which blames “COVID-19 and other macroeconomic trends including delayed customer spending decisions, insourcing and reductions in IT spending, energy inflation and reduction in demand for certain services”, the industry has seen key adjustments, where MCG believes that engineering cost management and technological innovation will be paramount to success.
MCG reports that the more favorable market conditions expected over the next few years, helped by the winding down of pandemic restrictions and a hybrid working environment will be driving market momentum forward. The continuous injection of capital by alternative investment firms, as well as the growing infrastructural investment from cloud service providers and social media companies, whose revenues are expected to grow over 3.6x larger by value in 2026, will likely help propel center provision and innovation. These factors paint a promising picture for the industry players that offset rising input costs and adapt to new technologies.
According to M Capital Group: “Specifically, the long-term cost-saving opportunities available from the rise of remote managing will likely aid value growth for the industry. Through margin optimization and further availability of capital for reinvestment, strong players will maintain their competitive foothold, while weaker players exit the market to balance supply and demand.”
Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.

8. What is xAPI?
xAPI is a way to capture
experience data.
Let’s start with
the basics!
8
background xAPI case studies 2020 takeaways
9. Experience data is a combination of activity,
learning, behavior, and performance data.
By unifying data from across organizational
data sources, insights into engagement,
learning effectiveness, information use, and
team behaviors can be identified and
applied to improve business outcomes.
What is experience data?
9
background xAPI case studies 2020 takeaways
10. Experience data is collected
using the Experience API (xAPI),
in a standardized Actor —Verb
— Object data format.
This interoperable data structure
allows you to access information
across tools and technologies
where experience data is
created in real-time.
How is experience data collected?

11. How is experience data collected?
Because xAPI is designed around
activity-based data collection, xAPI
data can provide high-resolution
insights into specific learner activity.
For example, completing a course is
actually a summation of many, much
more granular, actions. This
information can show us how
engaging or valuable an experience is
for a learner.

19. Khan Lab School is an independent school associated with Khan Academy that runs a
personalized, mixed-age program with a project-based learning approach. Because KLS
tracks mastery instead of letter grades and groups students by independence level instead
of age, a new kind of reporting system is needed to show student progress.Yet Analytics has
built student-facing and instructor-facing dashboards that pull data from digital and in-person
learning activity to provide a unified view of student progress at KLS.

data driven decisions. For the L&D team this means shifting from a content-centric
mindset to a data-centric mindset. Rather than continuing to focus on providing
reactionary content solutions, the company’s leadership team has started the process of
creating a modular xAPI-powered learning ecosystem.Their vision is to create a single
source of record to enable observability, granularity, and accountability with regard to
both learning activity and content. Using this data, they aim to deliver personal corporate
transcripts to each employee.
