Learning Management System LMS has occupied a major role in providing resources on learning due to the advancement in technology. There should a qualitative approach towards learning through online in these services with the aim of sustainable education. This research paper is trying to critically analyse two major platforms for online learning Google classroom and Talent LMS by stressing the areas like the content management, compliance management, evaluation system, participatory platform, customised learning. The study also brings out the significance of various models and theories including TAM, diffusion of innovation, blended learning in connection to online learning. The researcher has done a case study on the relationship between two major LMS and their role on better education for future generation. There is an area in the study which gave special reference and suggestions for better usability and utilisation of these online platforms. Technological innovations are altering the lives of the poor, rich, nation’s economics, and education globally. Hence, Ghana’s commitment to formulate the ICT for Accelerated Development (ICT4AD) Policy in 2003 to achieve the transformative vision of competing favorably in the knowledge economy in addition to the introduction of ICT-related subjects in the Ghanaian schools to develop the human resources for indigenous knowledge development is laudable. However, instructional technologists feared that the Ghanaian ICT curriculum from basic to tertiary level might be too generic and lacking curriculum-specific integration literacy, thereby likely to widen the digital divide. To support Ghana’s vision for ICT integration into higher education lessons, the current study sought to predict university graduates’ integration literacy from cognitive constructs using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The measurements and structural model fit indices were tested with SmartPLS Version 3. The results showed that students’’ goal-setting and need for achievement significantly predicted over 15% (R2 = .155) of ICT integrate skills. However, self-efficacy was not an important predictor (t = 1.74, p > .05) for students ICT integration literacy in the Ghanaian setting. We concluded that whilst graduates’ goal-setting and need for achievement traits motivate them to acquire technology skills in the Ghanaian public universities, certainly, 85% of latent variables such as pedagogy, lecturers’ computer integration competencies, and access remain unaccounted for per our structural model. The study recommends that career counsellors could design cognitive interventions to improve students’ self-efficacy traits and educational administrators should encourage formative assessment by ICT instructors in their schools to enhance skills developments.

This paper explores a sample of data collected from a UNICEF Eastern Caribbean rapid assessment on teaching and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in eight countries. The primary investigation method was mixed and captured data from key participants/stakeholders in education using CAPI Technology and Video Conferencing tools. Statistical analyses and qualitative thematic analysis were conducted to report on findings using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences and Nvivo Qualitative Software. The data on online teaching and learning from Barbados was selected for further review and presented an opportunity to assess the Barbadian experience against other developing and developed countries. In assessing these perceptions in a sample of primary and secondary schools, stakeholders were generally dissatisfied with the online and blended learning modalities citing challenges relating to the equality and equity in access to devices and the enabling environment that facilities effective online teaching and learning.
Attitude of Secondary School Students towards Online Education during Covid 1...ijtsrd
In the present study the investigator attempted to find out the secondary students’ attitude towards online education in West Bengal. 240 secondary school students were taken as a representative sample of the whole population. For selecting higher secondary students as a sample, the purposive sampling method was adopted. The investigator has adopted the survey research method for this study. A self made attitude scale consists of 40 items was developed and used for collecting the data. For analyzing and interpreting the data the investigator used to mean, S.D, t test, ANOVA. The study revealed that there is no significant difference in attitude between male and female students towards online education. The study also revealed that there is a significant difference in attitude towards online education concerning their locality and stream of study. PREPARING STUDENT TEACHERS TO TEACH WITH TECHNOLOGY: CASE STUDIES IN FINLAND ...IJITE
This quantitative study examines the training of student teachers for ICT-based teaching in two teacher education institution, in Israel and Finland. The data was collected in 2015-2017 using a questionnaire administered to 41 Finnish and 44 Israeli student teachers. The results show that most student teachers had practice in ICT-based teaching. However, about a third of student teachers in both institutions practiced only two times or less using ICT. Those who practiced mostly used a teacher-centred approach as did their college and school mentor teachers who integrated ICT in their lessons. The variable describing competency in ICT-based teaching correlated with student teachers' attitudes, the number of ICT-based lessons they taught, modelling by the school mentor teacher, and the various schools’ infrastructures and support. The results show that students in Israeli institutions are better prepared to teach with ICT which can be explained by the impact of the latest national reforms. We conclude that students' perception of their TPACK is the function of a variety of factors: on a personal level (attitudes towards the contribution of ICT to teaching and learning); on an institutional level (curriculum, modelling by faculty, institutional strategies); on a field practice school level (modelling by school mentors, infrastructure, pedagogical, technological, and administrative support); and on a national level (reforms and their implementation models). All these factors must be considered to promote the pedagogically innovative integration of ICT in teacher training and the overall education system. The best strategy to achieve this goal is to support collaboration between TEIs and schools on the national level. Wide-scale implementation of ICT in teaching demands significant investments in infrastructure and training. Hence much of its success depends on the national vision and priorities given to this purpose.

The study examined the basic ICT facilities available for teaching and learning in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State, Nigeria. A survey research design was adopted for the study. Three research questions guided the study while the population of the study was three hundred and twenty five (325) teachers in secondary schools in the area. Using simple random sampling technique, two hundred (200) teachers were drawn and used for the study. A structured questionnaire with 15 items was the instrument for data collection that was duly validated by 3 experts and its reliability determined using Cronbach Alpha Procedure. An index value of 0.73 was obtained showing that the instrument was reliable for the study.Mean statistic and standard deviation were used to analyze the data collected. The findings showed that there were basic ICT facilitated in the schools and that the interest and performance of the students were enhanced using these facilities to teach and learn. The study also revealed obvious challenges in the application of these facilities. Implications of the study were drawn and recommendations made to enhance proper utilization of the facilities to boost learners’ interest.

The COVID 19 pandemic has not only affected higher education on a global scale, but it has also brought numerous challenges to the higher education community. Remote learning refers to situations where learners and lecturers or information sources, separated by time and distance, and therefore cannot meet their needs in a traditional classroom environment. It can encompass a wide variety of learning opportunities. This could include exploring the natural world, activities to support students’ local communities with appropriate social distancing , and engaging in hands on projects and artistic creations that stem from students’ passions and experiences. The purpose of the study is to emphasize the benefits and impact of remote learning on higher education. The research method of this study used the second hand data listed in different databases of books, research papers and related articles on remote learning and higher education on the Internet. The research results of the paper show that higher education in India lacks challenges in terms of declining institutional income and national budget cuts, deterioration of financial conditions among students, quality problems of remote learning, and inefficient credit transfers. The study also reports on various opportunities for higher education. Researchers have found that remote learning can help promote flexible schedules. Learn important skills enhance technical knowledge a safer and more accessible environment a world full of possibilities walk your own way and build long remote friendships. Abstract
Cyberbullying during English teaching involving Information Communication Technology (ICT) is
an exciting topic to study. Seeing how new language learners share their thoughts and feelings
through blogs as alternative learning media and how they engage in cyberbullying in their online
interactions may reveal the motives beyond cyberbullying acts. This present study used the mixed
method approach to understand the motives to tailor the anti-cyberbullying recommended
solutions. The data is extended from a 3-month preliminary study to an 18-month investigation of
711 cyberbullying comments archived in 251 blogs owned and actively used by EFL university
students at English Department of Universitas Lancang Kuning (Unilak). The analysis revealed the
major students’ motive is just to have fun (70%), followed far behind by the motive to fight back
(8%), to express upset feelings (7%), and other motives (12%). 16 students with the highest track
record of cyberbullying in their blogging activities were interviewed to discuss their motives for
cyberbullying other students whom they have known for at least more than 18 months. Results
indicate cyberbullying among language learners seems to be an act of playing with language or
linguistics wordplay. Cyberbullying seems to be a sort of language exaggeration for EFL students
who possess limited competence in English when they interact in the online network. Based on the
results, a new definition of cyberbullying was offered to accommodate the linguistic nature of
cyberbullying. Using the primary health care framework by the World Health Organization
(WHO), this present study designed a practical list of ready-made classroom activities to combat
cyberbullying in four different steps, i.e. promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative.

Factors Influencing Online Education during COVID-19 Pandemic: Sri Lankan Stu...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
This study examines the factors influencing online education for selected Sri Lankan universities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also analyses the moderate effect of gender and type of the university on online education. Primary data were collected using a questionnaire via google form from Management students in Sri Lankan selected universities. Data analysis was done through structural equations using analysis of moment structures (AMOS) version 22.0. Attitude, internet and related facilities, curriculum, and self-motivation were found to have a significant positive impact on online education, while workload & time have no significant effect on online education. Among four factors, the strongest influence was derived from self-motivation followed by the curriculum. We have not found significant differences among male and female students’ views on online education, while the impact from the type of university is different among the two categories. This study effectively guides policy makers and university administrators across the educational institutes to decide on continuing online education. It reveals some insights to the teachers, students, and parents to understand the significance of the modern online learning environment and its positive impact on the new learning mode. There is no study related to the factors associated with the impact of online education during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Sri Lankan context.

The study examined the basic ICT facilities available for teaching and learning in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State, Nigeria. A survey research design was adopted for the study. Three research questions guided the study while the population of the study was three hundred and twenty five (325) teachers in secondary schools in the area. Using simple random sampling technique, two hundred (200) teachers were drawn and used for the study. A structured questionnaire with 15 items was the instrument for data collection that was duly validated by 3 experts and its reliability determined using Cronbach Alpha Procedure. An index value of 0.73 was obtained showing that the instrument was reliable for the study.Mean statistic and standard deviation were used to analyze the data collected. The findings showed that there were basic ICT facilitated in the schools and that the interest and performance of the students were enhanced using these facilities to teach and learn. The study also revealed obvious challenges in the application of these facilities. Implications of the study were drawn and recommendations made to enhance proper utilization of the facilities to boost learners’ interest.

The COVID 19 pandemic has not only affected higher education on a global scale, but it has also brought numerous challenges to the higher education community. Remote learning refers to situations where learners and lecturers or information sources, separated by time and distance, and therefore cannot meet their needs in a traditional classroom environment. It can encompass a wide variety of learning opportunities. This could include exploring the natural world, activities to support students’ local communities with appropriate social distancing , and engaging in hands on projects and artistic creations that stem from students’ passions and experiences. The purpose of the study is to emphasize the benefits and impact of remote learning on higher education. The research method of this study used the second hand data listed in different databases of books, research papers and related articles on remote learning and higher education on the Internet. The research results of the paper show that higher education in India lacks challenges in terms of declining institutional income and national budget cuts, deterioration of financial conditions among students, quality problems of remote learning, and inefficient credit transfers. The study also reports on various opportunities for higher education. Researchers have found that remote learning can help promote flexible schedules. Abstract
Cyberbullying during English teaching involving Information Communication Technology (ICT) is
an exciting topic to study. Seeing how new language learners share their thoughts and feelings
through blogs as alternative learning media and how they engage in cyberbullying in their online
interactions may reveal the motives beyond cyberbullying acts. This present study used the mixed
method approach to understand the motives to tailor the anti-cyberbullying recommended
solutions. The data is extended from a 3-month preliminary study to an 18-month investigation of
711 cyberbullying comments archived in 251 blogs owned and actively used by EFL university
students at English Department of Universitas Lancang Kuning (Unilak). The analysis revealed the
major students’ motive is just to have fun (70%), followed far behind by the motive to fight back
(8%), to express upset feelings (7%), and other motives (12%). 16 students with the highest track
record of cyberbullying in their blogging activities were interviewed to discuss their motives for
cyberbullying other students whom they have known for at least more than 18 months. Results
indicate cyberbullying among language learners seems to be an act of playing with language or
linguistics wordplay. Cyberbullying seems to be a sort of language exaggeration for EFL students
who possess limited competence in English when they interact in the online network. Based on the
results, a new definition of cyberbullying was offered to accommodate the linguistic nature of
cyberbullying. Using the primary health care framework by the World Health Organization
(WHO), this present study designed a practical list of ready-made classroom activities to combat
cyberbullying in four different steps, i.e. promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative.

Factors Influencing Online Education during COVID-19 Pandemic: Sri Lankan Stu...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
This study examines the factors influencing online education for selected Sri Lankan universities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also analyses the moderate effect of gender and type of the university on online education. Primary data were collected using a questionnaire via google form from Management students in Sri Lankan selected universities. Data analysis was done through structural equations using analysis of moment structures (AMOS) version 22.0. Attitude, internet and related facilities, curriculum, and self-motivation were found to have a significant positive impact on online education, while workload & time have no significant effect on online education. Among four factors, the strongest influence was derived from self-motivation followed by the curriculum. We have not found significant differences among male and female students’ views on online education, while the impact from the type of university is different among the two categories. This study effectively guides policy makers and university administrators across the educational institutes to decide on continuing online education. It reveals some insights to the teachers, students, and parents to understand the significance of the modern online learning environment and its positive impact on the new learning mode. There is no study related to the factors associated with the impact of online education during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Sri Lankan context.

The research was conducted at Cebu Technological University Barili Campus, Barili, Cebu as a bases for Proposed Curriculum and technology integration Instructional Guide Through Departmental LAC sessions to strengthen the Domains and Objectives during actual instructional setting. The 650 respondents 600 Students and 50 Teachers distributed from three secondary schools in Toledo City Division namely Luray II National High School, Matab ang National High School and Toledo City Science High School wherein Descriptive –Correlation and Purposive sampling was used for the distribution of survey questionnaire instrument which aims to assess the level of technology Implementation integration in instruction in senior high school curriculum through its domains and objectives such as classroom activities, Research Works, Product Performance Task Monthly School Celebration Activities, Faculty Professional Communication, Learners Extrinsic motivation towards academics and Learners Monthly Percentage Attendance as well as to determine the barriers and challenges occur during the implementation of technology integration towards curriculum instruction a basis for upgraded instructional guide to be developed. Gathered data were treated using total weighted points, weighted mean, and correlations. Based on the findings and after a careful analysis and interpretation of the study, it is concluded that enabling motivated instructional guide through technology access is the best way to enhance learners 21st century skills. RESEARCH AND PRACTICE OF A BLENDED TEACHING MODE BASED ON SMALL PRIVATE ONLIN...IJCI JOURNAL
With the continuous development of information technologies, the pace of education informatization is
accelerating increasingly. The traditional classroom-teaching mode cannot fully meet students’ learning
demands. Due to the emergence of new teaching forms in the post-pandemic era, rapid development of IT
applications, national education-informatization policies and deployment, and the plight of the traditional
teaching mode, there is a need to explore new ideas and patterns of integrating information technologies
and teaching approaches. With the course of Heat Transfer as an example, this study expounds a blended
teaching mode based on small private online courses (SPOC) on course aims, teaching contents, teaching
methods, and evaluation approaches under the background of informatization. The results show that this
teaching model can enhance students' learning effect and comprehensive ability effectively. The rules of
blended teaching were explored to guide teaching improvement.

Despite the literature supporting technology use in schools as beneficial for students, and despite the wide use of social technology, schools continue to be slow to change its integration in the classroom (Livingstone, 2012). It is imperative that teachers increase their use of technology in the classroom in order to prepare our K-12 students referred to as "digital natives," for the 21st century. Though many schools have technology available for use (Alger & Kopcha, 2008), barriers exist in incorporating technology into lesson plans, namely teacher reluctance (Keengwe, Onchwari, & Wachira, 2008). Teachers' hesitation in using technology more frequently is due to a number of factors, such as lack of time to learn new technology and incorporate it into lesson plans, beliefs around using technology in instruction, availability of working technology and technical support, comprehensive professional development, and a culture that promotes using new technology, self-efficacy, and teaching methods (Alger & Kopcha, 2008).
Literature Review
Self-Efficacy toward Technology
According to Bandura (1986) individuals possess a self-system that determines how much effort people will expend on any activity. Bandura also asserts that self-efficacy beliefs may be a strong predictor of related performance. Studies have shown a positive correlation between self-efficacy in technology and technology ability (Anderson & Maninger, 2007; Anderson, Grouulx, & Maninger, 2011). According to the technology acceptance model introduced by Davis (1989), there is a correlation between users' perceived ease of use and predicted adoption of technology. In his study investigating Moodles, Yeou (2016) found self-efficacy to be a critical factor in undergraduates' use of the technology tool. In a similar study investigating pre-service teachers, Albion (2001) found that self-efficacy was the most significant factor in predicting technology use. Pre-service and in-service teachers who possess high self-efficacy in regard to technology are more apt to use technology in the classroom because they are more confident in their ability. In their study investigating teachers' use of technology, Holden and Rada (2011) found that self-efficacy directly influenced individuals' ease of use and usability of technology.

With the adoption of the National Education Technology Plan (NETP), providing access to technology is no longer sufficient; the NETP stresses that schools are expected to ensure "all students understand how to use technologies as a tool to engage in creative, productive, lifelong learning" (p. 16 Herold, 2016). A key element in the plan is the need to move from passive to active use of technology. Often referred to as the "digital use and divide," a gap exists between learners who are using technology in active, creative ways to support their learning and those who predominantly use technology for passive content consumption.

Abstract: Blended learning is an educational model offered through traditional learning methods and digital
networks to share knowledge and education resources between instructors and learners. Besides, blended learning
provides learning courses accessed through digital platforms and gadgets utilizing online technologies such as
smartphones, tablets, laptops, and personal computers. Denoted as e-learning, these platforms are important in
teaching and training students through the internet and wireless technologies. In any course, offering online
learning plays a great role because e-learning provides the students the opportunities of developing their
capabilities, specifically in information science courses. In modern education, digital learning is becoming a
gradually popular option. The classroom settings moved online from full digital courses to classes held remotely.
However, effective communication in a digital learning environment may be hard, particularly when digital
learning transition is unplanned or has been sudden. Making such massive overhauls are confusing and frustrating
for the teachers, learners, and parents.
Nevertheless, digital learning communication can be made easier with the right resource. This research explores
the blended learning environment effectiveness by evaluating the relationships between design features, student
backgrounds or attributes, and learning outcomes. The paper's objective is to determine the important blended
learning effectiveness indicators, taking learning outcomes as dependent variables and design features and learner
background or attributes as independent variables. Results of multiple regression analyses indicated learner
attributes such as self-regulation and attitudes and traits of blended learning designs such as one-on-one support,
technology quality, and online tools forecasted students' satisfaction as an outcome. The findings show that design
characteristics and student traits are important indicators for student learning outcomes in blended learning.

secondary school (referred to in this report as “K-12”) students for the 21st century workplace (“the modern workplace”), where
a mix of hard and soft skills are crucial for success. The research, sponsored by Google for Education, draws on a survey of 1,200 educators in 16 countries.1 It looks at the
strategies most effective in developing 21st century skills and how technology can support such efforts.

The fundamental difference between Man and animal is Rationality with which Intelligence Quotient (IQ) deals
.The fundamental difference between Man and Machine (Robot) is Emotionality with which Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
deals. Thus IQ and EQ are human specific qualities. Both are reflected in man’s social behavior and interactions with which
Social Intelligence (SQ) deals. Present paper aims at examining whether these three typically human faculties are
independent or are inter-correlated. Three questionnaires measuring IQ, EQ and SQ respectively were given to 60 college
students, including males and females. Pearson and Partial Correlations were calculated through SPSS 15.0. The results
showed no significant correlation of IQ with EQ and SQ, but the correlation between EQ and SQ was found to be statistically
significant. This implies that IQ is independent faculty but EQ and SQ are correlated.

Parents Attitude towards Girl Child Education: A Sociological Study of HaryanaRHIMRJ Journal
Girls and boys have the same rights to get a quality education. But the ‘gender gap’ becomes painfully evident when
looking at who is in the classroom. Girls lag behind than boys at all levels of formal education in Haryana. Enrolment,
retention, transition and achievement rates for girls are always lower than that of boys. This means that even many of the girls
who are enrolled in school do not complete Secondary School education. There is the strong belief that negative parental
attitude must be blamed for the low level education of girls. The purpose of the present study was, therefore, to assessing
current parental attitude towards the education of girls children. The study analyzed the data from 50 parents, who had one or
more than one school going children. Out of these, 20 parents belonged to upper caste families, 15 parents belonged to middle
caste families and 15 parents belonged to lower caste families. The age range of the sample was 18-50 years, and they all
belonged to Bohar village of Rohtak District. 20-item questionnaire schedule was used for collecting data. The findings
showed that the overall attitude of the respondents was moderately favorable and positive towards schooling and education of
their children. The study reflects that generally parents would want to educate both boys and girls, however when there are
other demands on the family's resources that the education of the girl child is considered a secondary issue.

Introduction: Early and exclusive breastfeeding is now recognized as one of the most effective interventions for child
survival particularly to address morbidity and mortality related to three major conditions i.e. neonatal infections, diarrhea
and pneumonia.
2. Aim: To study the infant and young child feeding practices among the lactating mothers of village Khuda Lahora of
Chandigarh.
3. Objectives:
a. To assess the prevailing breast feeding practices adopted by the lactating mothers of village Khuda Lahora.
b. To identify the barriers which lead to inappropriate breast feeding practices.
c. To examine the complementary feeding given to the infants and young children of the village.
4. Methodology: The study was conducted in the one of the randomly selected village Khuda Lahora of the “city beautiful”-
Chandigarh. The total population of the village is 3,476. There are 2,011 males and 1,456 females. There were 191
mothers who were registered in the sub centre of the village but only 167 participated in the study.
5. Results: The rate of exclusive breast feeding among the lactating mothers is found to be 22.7% and 46% of the mothers
have some prior knowledge of breastfeeding. It was found that 71% of the respondents started complementary feeding at
the age of 4-5 months. It is seen that 29% of the respondents gave diluted milk.

All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.

harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.

I. INTRODUCTION

The NMC (New Media Consortium) is an international community of experts in educational technology mentioned in NMC
Horizon Report 2014 Edition is a collaborative effort between the NMC and the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative (ELI), an
EDUCAUSE Program. They have describes annual findings from the NMC Horizon Project, an ongoing research project to
identify and describe emerging technologies likely to have a learning, teaching, and creative inquiry in education. Six key trends,
six significant challenges, and six emerging technologies are identified across three adoption horizons over the next one to five
years, giving campus leaders and practitioners a valuable guide for strategic technology planning. The format of the report is new
this year, providing these leaders with more in-depth insight into how the trends and challenges are accelerating and impeding the
adoption of educational technology, along with their implications for policy, leadership and practice.
IV. KEY TRENDS ACCELERATING HIGHER EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION
a. FAST TRENDS: DRIVING CHANGES IN HIGHER EDUCATION OVER THE NEXT ONE TO TWO YEARS
Growing Ubiquity of Social Media: -Education paradigms are shifting to include more online learning, blended and hybrid
learning, and collaborative models. Students already spend much of their free time on the Internet, learning and exchanging new
information. Institutions that embrace face-to-face, online, and hybrid learning models have the potential to leverage the
online skills learners have already developed independent of academia. Online learning environments can offer different
affordances than physical campuses, including opportunities for increased collaboration while equipping students with
stronger digital skills. Hybrid models, when designed and implemented successfully, enable students to travel to campus for
some activities, while using the network for others, taking advantage of the best of both environments.
Integration of Online, Hybrid, and Collaborative Learning: -There is a growing interest in using new sources of data for

c. LONG-RANGE TRENDS: DRIVING CHANGES IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN FIVE OR MORE YEARS
Agile Approaches to Change:- There is a growing consensus among many higher education thought leaders that
institutional leadership and curriculum could benefit from agile startup models. Educators are working to develop new
approaches and programs based on these models that stimulate top-down change and can be implemented across a
broad range of institutional settings. The Lean Startup movement uses technology as a catalyst for promoting a culture
of innovation in a more widespread, cost-effective manner. Pilots and other experimental programs are being developed
for teaching and improving organizational structure to more effectively nurture entrepreneurship among both students and
faculty.
Valuation of Online Learning: - Over the past several years, there has been a shift in the perception of online learning to the
point where it is seen as a viable alternative to some forms of face-to-face learning. The value that online learning offers is
now well understood, with flexibility, ease of access, and the integration of sophisticated multimedia and technologies

digital media literacy, training in the supporting skills and techniques is rare in teacher education and non-existent in the
preparation of Faculty. As lecturers and professors begin to realize that they are limiting their students by not helping them to
develop and use digital media literacy skills across the curriculum, the lack of formal training is being offset through
professional development or informal learning, but we are far from seeing digital media literacy as a norm. This challenge
is exacerbated by the fact that digital literacy is less about tools and more about thinking, and thus skills and standards
based on tools and platforms have proven to be somewhat ephemeral.
Relative Lack of Rewards for Teaching: - Teaching is often rated lower than research in academia. In the global education
marketplace, a university’s status is largely determined on the quantity and quality of its research. According to the Times
Higher Education’s World University Rankings methodology, research and citations account for 60% of a university’s score,
while teaching is only half that. There is an overarching sense in the academic world that research credentials are a more valuable
asset than talent and skill as an instructor. Because of this way of thinking, efforts to implement effective pedagogies are lacking.
Adjunct professors and students feel the brunt of this challenge, as teaching-only contracts are underrated and underpaid, and
learners must accept the outdated teaching styles of the university’s primary researchers. To balance competing priorities, larger
universities are experimenting with alternating heavy and light teaching loads throughout the school year, and hiring more
adjunct professors.
b. DIFFICULT CHALLENGES: THOSE WE UNDERSTAND U FOR WHICH SOLUTIONS ARE ELUSIVE
Competition from New Models of education:- New models of education are bringing unprecedented competition to the
traditional models of higher education. Across the board, institutions are looking for ways to provide a high quality of
service and more learning opportunities. Massive open online courses are at the forefront of these discussions, enabling
students to Supplement their education and experiences at brick- and-mortar institutions with increasingly rich, and often free,
online offerings. At the same time, issues have arisen related to the low completion rates of some MOOCs. As these new
platforms emerge, there is a growing need to frankly evaluate the models and determine how to best support
collaboration, interaction, and assessment at scale. Simply capitalizing on new technology is not enough; the new models
must use these tools and services to engage students on a deeper level.
Scaling Teaching Innovations: - Our organizations are not adept at moving teaching innovations into mainstream practice.
Innovation springs from the freedom to connect ideas in new ways. Our schools and universities generally allow us to connect
ideas only in prescribed ways — sometimes these lead to new insights, but more likely they lead to rote learning. Current
organizational promotion structures rarely reward Innovation and improvements in teaching and learning. A pervasive aversion to
change limits the diffusion of new ideas, and too often discourages experimentation.

c. WICKED CHALLENGES: THOSE THAT ARE COMPLEX TO EVEN DEFINE, MUCH LESS ADDRESS
Expanding Access: - The global drive to increase the number of Students participating in undergraduate education is placing
pressure across the system. The oft-cited relationship between earning potential and educational attainment plus the clear
impact of an educated society on the growth of the Middle class is pushing governments to encourage more and more students to
enter universities and colleges. In many countries, however, the population of students prepared for undergraduate study
is already enrolled — expanding access means extending it to students who may not have the academic background to be
successful without additional support. Many in universities feel that these institutions do not have sufficient time and
resources to help this set of students
keeping education relevant :-Many pundits worry that if higher education does not adapt to the times, other models of
learning (especially other business models) will take its place. While this concern has some merits, it is unlikely that
universities as we know them will go away. There are parts of the university enterprise, however, that are at risk, such
as continuing and advanced education in highly technical, fast-moving felds. As online learning and free educational
content become more pervasive, institutional stakeholders must address the question of what universities can provide that
other approaches cannot, and rethink the value of higher education from a student’s perspective.
VI. CONCLUSION
All these challenges and trends are going to be vital according to the NMC Horizon Report 2014 Edition in higher education in
terms of advancement in technology and trends in technology in upcoming one to five years rather than the other challenges like
population, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, culture, gender gap and many more.
