Factors inhibiting the adoption of ICT by Tamale Polytechnic lecturers for th...Editor IJCATR
Although the Ghanaian polytechnics have had computers and varied levels of ICT development for almost two decades now, ways
to create effective IT-enabled teaching and learning methodologies have evolved slowly and patchily. This situation is gradually making the
polytechnic trainees incompatible in the digital-enabled job markets. Coupled with this development is the fact that the internet has become
the single and largest library and knowledge reservoir thus making it indispensable in the teaching and learning ambit. It has therefore become
imperative and collective responsibility to identify the factors that inhibit the adoption of the technology by the tertiary teachers especially
the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) fraternity to bridge the digital gab to add more value to the polytechnic teachers
and graduates and to raise their relevance in the industry. This research therefore comes in, with the case of the Tamale Polytechnic, to
explore the challenges and recommend strategies to stakeholders. Descriptive survey methodology, which is capable of collecting background
information and hard to find data without the researcher motivating or influencing respondents' responses, was used to arrive at our findings.

Role of ICT in Shaping the Future of Pakistani Higher Education SystemZaffar Ahmed Shaikh
This study examined the challenges faced by the Pakistani higher education system (HES) in integrating information and communication technology (ICT); it aimed at understanding ICT needs, measuring the increase in ICT demand, determining the relationship between ICT and HES performance, and understanding how the HES copes with the challenges of implementing ICT. The results of these analyses were used as the basis to suggest solutions. The normative Delphi method was applied to evaluate a sample of 30 HES experts randomly selected from urban and rural areas of Pakistan by administering a literature-based 35-item questionnaire. The
experts revealed significant gaps in ICT demand and supply, ICT use, ICT-based higher education problems, and reasons for delays in ICT integration and provided suggestions for developing ICT-driven HES in Pakistan. This
study’s findings suggest that an effective and robust HES ICT policy could greatly improve the status of the Pakistani knowledge-based economy, thus helping establish ICT policy and planning, administration, and integration at the higher education level.

This paper determined the skills needed by business education lecturers, considering the need for them to be at breast with modern technology in the arts of teaching with emphasis on activity-based learning. This study is further heightened with the need to expose business education students to globalized economy. Thus, the need arises to probe the readiness of business educators (saddled with the responsibility of guiding these students) in terms of their competencies in the use of technology in teaching. This study seeks to achieve one objective, answers one research question and test a null hypothesis. The survey research design is adopted and the study was carried out in Nigeria with an accessible population of 500 business educators, out of which 217 respondents were used. A questionnaire on technology-driven teaching skills and content delivery in Business Education generated data for the study analyzed using Linear Regression Analysis. Findings are that technology-driven teaching skills significantly predict effective delivery of the content of business education. This implies that business educators require skills in the use of modern technology in teaching business education. Based on the finding of this study, it is concluded that the effectiveness of content delivery in business education in today’s globalized society is to an average extent dependent upon the skill level of business education lecturers in the use of technology in teaching.

Progressive Learning through Digital Transformation Reshaping Learning Facilityijtsrd
Education is the method of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge and development of the abilities of the mind. Education implies to discipline and development by means of study and learning. One of the foremost crucial benefits of education is that it improves personal lives and helps the society to run smoothly. Education should undergo a thorough digital transformation to be able to meet the wants of the young generation and digitalized future. With the advent in technology and with the perpetual increase in the strength of the students and the number of departments in the educational institutions, it is laborious to exchange the study materials between the students and the faculties. The main objective of the E Learning is to help the students get over the traditional methods of learning and make them accustomed to the internet .But the question remains how far the students and the faculties were able to adopt them self to the sudden shift and cope up with the changes .This paper tries to provide an insight on the condition of the students what was their expectation and perception. This research paper helps both the students and the teachers to know impact of digital transformation and the quality of facility learning for growth to survival. Educational technology is part of a scientific that is mostly engaged in
education. Actually, this scientific has significant benefits, especially in the
field of education. However, many people do not understand the role of
educational technology in education. This can be seen from the diverse
perspectives of society on educational technology. When it is associated with
educational technology science, there are many views of the community that
are very opposite to the scientific clusters of educational technology taught
from lectures. So, the purpose of this study was to find out the various
perspectives of society regarding educational technology itself. This paper is
presented with the addition of theoretical educational technology clumps.
This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. This study used
indirect interviews, which means giving unstructured questions but still
focusing on what will be researched. The subjects in this study were six
participants who were people outside the educational technology scientific
clump. In addition, the author also conducted a literature review which was
taken from six articles from three different journals. The results of this study
reveal a diverse picture of views on educational technology. All participants
argue that educational technology has a significant role, but in terms of the
dominant conception they still do not understand it like other scientific. From
the results it can be a separate challenge for educational technology. It can be
used as an alternative reference in improving the quality of educational
technology, either through formal education or other forms.

The focus of this study is to seek the relevance of investing in Information Technology (IT) by the students. The research takes into account 50 students studying at different disciplines at Dhaka University. The respondents were visited randomly to get the relevant data. The result of the study suggests that students’ academic quality and knowledge enhancement have a relationship with investment in IT though the relationship is not significant. The result of hypothesis testing shows that students those have invested in personal computer and internet secure comparatively higher cumulative grade point average (CGPA) rather than those who haven’t invested on these IT tools. But the likelihood of investing higher amount in IT will pay-off better CGPA is not found thus there is no association of good result and investing heavily on IT. However, the findings of this exploratory study offer insights that the money invested in IT for academic purpose is more advantageous than otherwise be invested especially for those students whose academic curriculum mainly decorated in accordance with the modern up-to-date era of Information Technology. Eventually, this study will help concerned students, guardians and academicians understanding how important IT is for student’s academic performance.
Investigations were carried out to see the effect of pesticide 'companion' on the proximal composition and enzyme namely amylase, GOT and GPT of whole green gram in the early stages of germination. The findings revealed that the pesticides increase the enzyme activity in the early stages of germination and thus increase the metabolic rate. The Vitamin-C content was also enhanced with the use of pesticide, but there was a decrease in the proximal composition of the gram when treated with pesticide.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Vast number of literature has given due importance to the technology as it enhances the existing productive potentiality
of an economy. Today's technology oriented environment has led to the emergence of information and communication
technologies (ICT). The role of ICT in an economic system is multidimensional. The appropriate utilization of ICT helps
in access to education, strengthens the relevance of education to the increasingly digital workplace, and raises educational
quality. The introduction of computer has facilitated in the promotion of better education. It is documented that Indian
higher education is facing tough challenges like the need for better institutes, trained faculty, more research intensive
institutes and employability even in the presence of ICT. There are various reasons behind such environment and one of
the key challenges is to utilise the technology.
In an educational institute, particularly in higher education, research plays a vibrant role and the introduction
of computer is well appreciated in this field. The role of computer should not confine to the access of internet and just making
PowerPoint presentations, however these are important, but it should travel further. Today the young scholars of 21st century
are enough fortunate to work on empirical research with utmost efficiency as an outcome of ICT as compared to the earlier
generation. There are plenty of services available in application software in the research. But the major challenge that Indian
education sector is facing today is that many people have the full time access to computer but a few are well acquainted
with the facilities provided by different software packages. Young scholars are aspired to learn the statistical packages like
SPSS, Eviews, Stata, etc., but the minute observation reflects that very few people feel comfort to work using Microsoft office
particularly Microsoft excel. People may wonder over this example, but industries are witness to it and most of the work
is handled in this application software. The present study will try to throw light on few interesting applications of this software
so that people may get motivated in using the computer, and thus may strengthen the beauty of ICTs and it will also discuss
few reforms that are being faced in higher education at faculty level.

concepts and one can do all this while sitting in one

The leading investment banks, KPOs all are
using intensively these packages. The problem is that
most of the students go for coaching to learn the basic
computer and theydo notget opportunityto learn such
type of things. We are talking about the employability
challenge that the Indian education sector is facing
and this is the one of the factors which hampers/im-
pediments the aspirations of young scholars and they
get disappointed from the education that they have
received.
When we talk about to motivate the people
once it is done the work is over because there are
potentialities in the scholars and the only thing is to
inducethemfortheforthcomingincentives. Andwithin
Microsoft Office how much is quite familiar with the

PowerPoint as well as Microsoft word. Few examples
are there where the faculty feel un-comfortable to uti-
lize the application software and lack in guiding the
studentsfurther.Initiallypeoplewereafraidoftheusage
of computer but now the young students are in a po-
sition to do the wonders. The only thing is to allure
them the beauty of computer.
3.OtherChallengesinHigherEducation
India needs to remove the "Dysfunctional
regulations" and to call upon the flexible regulation to
raise the standards of higher education. The major
challenges in public and private sector before plan-
ners,policymakersandeducationist,wasofproducing
world class universities that could be counted in the
top200ratinglist.Thatwouldpossibleonlyafterintro-
ducing international faculty. The 12th Five Year Plan
was expansion, equality of access and excellence.
Expansion of higher education has to be
balanced with equality of access; especially for those
living in areas where educational institutions did not
exists. FICCI(FederationofIndianChambersofCom-
merceandIndustry)HigherEducationCommitteeinits

theEY(ErnstandYoung)FICCIreportonHigherEdu-
cationin Indiawhereit highlightsthreeissues faced by
the Indian education sector i.e. access, quality and
equity. With a GER (Gross Enrolment Ratio) of 13.8
percent and enrolment of 14.6 million, the access to
higher education in India is available only to a limited
section of the population. With regard to equity, there
is a wide disparity in higher education across states,
urban and rural areas, gender and communities. Re-
garding quality 45 percent of the positions for profes-
sors, 51 percent positions for readers, and 53 percent
positions for lecturers were vacant in Indian Universi-
tiesin2007-8. Apartfromthesethereareinfrastructure
deficienciesinmorethan48percentuniversitiesand69
percent of colleges.
The one most important factor that causes
challenges in higher education is considered the pla-
giarism in research work. It is found that research
papers published in India have 2.7 citations per paper
in comparison to 6 citations per publication in the US
and UKand 4citationsperarticleinJapan.Thequality
of research paper is judged by the rating of the journal
wherein it is published and further the citation of such
publications in the good rating journals.
Publication's impact is measured through ci-
tations per paper. The innovative thoughts and ideas
may be discouraged and remain closed in the presence
of easiest available sources to copy. In this context
India ranks 21st in the terms of research papers in
science, but 119th in terms of research papers of any
worthwhile contribution. In India number of core re-
searchers was about 1.5 lakh as compared to china's 8-
10 lakh. In India we have only 157 scientists (research
and development) and engineers per million of the
populationincomparisonto30timesmoreincountries
like the US and Japan and five times more in South
Korea.Wehave17percentoftheglobalpopulationbut
account for mere 1.5 percent of the global output in
research and development.
Technologicalinnovationmaybeconsidered
the vital factor for the promotion and development in
industry. It can be generated with quality research
which requires quality engineers and scientists. There
are quality standard quality journals but the poorly
rated journals are increasing day by day with the en-
couragement of plagiarised work and to earn the ben-
efits in the form of money in order to publish the re-
search paper.
Our universities need to encourage academ-
ics to publish in top journals and discourage the poor
quality rated journals. They can be given right incen-
tivesintheformofbetterpromotionalavenuestoboost
their talent. However, the initiative has been taken at
centrallevelinnextFiveYearPlan(April2012toMarch
2017). It is suggested to allocate 2 percent of India's
gross domestic product (GDP) for research in science
and technology. Currently expenditure is 0.98 percent
(Rs. 3,300 crore in Eleventh Five Year Plan) which is
propose to make 90,000 crore in next five year plan.

Conclusion
Statistics shows that India is far behind US,
UK and China in terms of quality research and quality
rated journals. However government has proposed to
spend90,000 croreoneducationinnextfiveyearplan.
At present China hasperformed exceedinglywell with
six of its universities figuring in the list of 200, two in
the first 50. As per the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
