- Passive dependents need looking after rather than active citizens with rights and responsibilities Idea (if not word itself) of rights was what people most valued about HWC…….. E.g.s own front door, control entry, tenure security, private family life, etc Independence not about doing everything for yourself but about being able to make choices…… Responsibilities – financial ones were key for self-funders Uncertainties………..
- Supporting individuals to identify what matters to them and their lives and wellbeing – not just a menu of services Opportunities for groups to come together – Anchor LGBT, Scottish Dementia WG – also mention the JRF DEEP work establishing a network of groups Meaningful involvement – talk later about RTM – but also lots of egs of how residents can be involved in rec and sel
- Yes, it’s about co-housing, RTM, innovative approaches to housing people with dementia, mixed tenure so we can make HWC more accessible to the squeezed middle, HAPPI design principles, etc, etc But it’s also about the simple things, the ordinary stuff, the little things Roast potatoes and fresh air But it’s not our job to get involved with our leaseholders at this level…… but we may still be in a position to facilitate……. Eg buddying someone up to go to the park This is what people often worry most about – who will change the lightbulbs, eye drops, milk bottles, etc
