It is imperative all educators become global - but what does this mean and how does it happen?
How do we define the global educator? Is it a qualification? Is it a self-declaration? Can it be proven through disposition, curriculum design, workflow, pedagogical approach, use of digital technology, or an ability to adapt and be flexible in learning? Is it all of these? As soon as the word ‘global’ is used we think about ‘global competency’ – are educators ready themselves to prepare students for adopting understandings that are global? The role online technologies play in supporting global educators is a significant factor also as it is through the use of emerging and established online technologies that global educators connect, communicate and collaborate.
Based on authentic material collected over the past 12+ months from global educators across the world this session explores the essential qualities of a global educator and a global education leader as well as global collaboration and learning design to go global, and provides strategies for becoming global.

This document provides an overview of a webinar titled "Blending Common Core Standards, Visible Thinking, and Web 2.0 Technologies to Educate, Engage, and Empower Your Students". The webinar was presented by Stephanie Dulmage and moderated by Donna Choe. The webinar goals were to understand the purpose of technology integration, explore examples of how teachers integrate technology using the SAMR model, and introduce Web 2.0 tools to support the Common Core State Standards. During the webinar, participants engaged in activities to analyze lessons using the SAMR levels and shared ideas for lesson planning using various technologies and thinking routines.
This document provides an overview of the Flat Classroom Project, which aims to connect and collaborate classrooms globally using web 2.0 tools. It discusses the pedagogical approaches of the project, including global, connected, project-based learning. It also summarizes the various Flat Classroom projects and resources available, and provides guidance on how teachers can participate including finding partners and designing their own flattened classroom project.
GLOBAL COLLABORATION IN EDUCATION: 7 1/2 Steps to Flatten Your ClassroomVicki Davis

Common Core in the Cloud June 2013 #tic13Vicki Davis
The document discusses reinventing writing through collaborative projects in the cloud. It advocates for moving beyond individual and singular authorship to collaborative writing done by groups of students and teachers. It describes how tools like wikis, apps, blogs and other cloud-based technologies can facilitate collaborative writing and help foster communities of practice among students. However, it notes that simply giving students access to these tools does not guarantee collaboration, and most wikis see limited actual co-construction between students. The document argues collaborative writing has benefits like improving learning experiences and preparing students for teamwork in the workplace.
This document summarizes a webinar on blending Common Core standards, visible thinking strategies, and web 2.0 technologies to engage students. The webinar covered the SAMR model for technology integration and provided examples of how tools can be used at different levels of the model. Attendees then collaborated in groups to apply the SAMR model to sample lesson plans. Overall, the webinar aimed to demonstrate how technology can be effectively integrated to transform learning environments and empower students through more active and social learning experiences aligned with state standards.

This document outlines a 5-step process for teachers to find their voice and build an online platform:
1. Understand your power to influence and decide your values and priorities.
2. Choose your preferred social media platforms and topics to share based on your strengths and interests.
3. Develop realistic habits such as scheduling posts in advance to consistently share your message outside of classroom time.
4. Focus on building relationships and highlighting other educators rather than selfish promotion or arguments.
5. Start small by committing to one daily habit, such as blogging or podcasting, to make an impact.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
