Production Process Evaluation
Research
• The strengths of my research was that it couldn’t be screwed up by
someone else on survey monkey and I could find out for myself
what my audience would and what would appeal to them this
helped me with my product by giving me the idea of just games
magazine because I was going to do a magazine with art games and
music in it which wouldn’t have worked, it also gave me the age
range I was looking at and what psychographic I was looking at and
so it was easy to find the right game with humanity being in a wreck
in DOOM and also the contributes with the age. However the down
side of the research was that I could have been wrong about the
audience and also when it came up to the old pieces of work being
annotated I didn’t annotate I just did the thing that I was told to do
at the bottom of the page. I could have improved the annotations
and this would give me a better idea of what I could have added to
my piece of work.
Planning
• What were the strengths of your planning? How did your planning help your product?
• The strengths of my planning in the mind maps were that I effectively told myself what I was doing
in an easy to understand format and I ended up using a few of the ideas I had for my final edition of
my project using effects on gaming and news and the past of the game I ended up editing one of
the names I had created and I also added a plug and a good piece of concept art for the front page
the rest followed a similar demographic.
• The strength of my mood board was that it actually gave me ideas from other actual magazines
instead of singling out certain bits of magazines because they all have good designs and they all
have similar colour pallets being predominantly dark colours with the exception of white.
• The strength of my experiment is that it actually looked like a good magazine design and it could
have been from anytime period of magazine prints and just the design in general looks nice.
• The strengths of my proposal it is good because it pretty much tells you everything that I was going
to put in my magazine and I ended up doing four other failed experiments because they weren’t
really what I was planning on doing.
• The style sheet was useful in the same way as the mood board because I did it similarly to that and
not what was actually needed.
• The layouts were good though because they got me to think more about the project and what I was
going to include
Planning
• What were the weaknesses of your planning? What could you have done better/improve? What effect would this have had on your product?
• The mind maps weren’t useful because I didn’t have a section for everything there
could be on a magazine I only put down the really prominent parts.
• The mood boards wasn’t good because it didn’t focus on one thing from a
magazine it made you look at the whole magazine and make people to guess what
I meant.
• The experiments weren’t great because of my description of how I made the piece
was valid but lacked a decent description of why I did it the way I did.
• The weakness of my proposal was that it wasn’t accurate enough and needs way
more detail about the product mainly but how I would also prevent offence to
other people ( being ethnicities, social groups and religions.)
• The style sheet wasn’t good because I didn’t split up the piece into what makes a
magazine such as a flash a plug and selling lines etc.
• The layout wasn’t to good because of how neither actually looked like a magazine
however they did both give me a good idea of what I was going to do for the
actual project.
Time Management
• NO I didn’t spend my time well as seem as I had spent a lot of time at the
start of the project completing almost all of my work within the first few
weeks and then I started to slow down and then when it came down to
the last few PowerPoint I started to speed up again. Yes I had completed
my project in time but I fell as if I should do more to improve these pieces
a lot but there are only a few things that I would improve which are mainly
about the production because I feel as if I added enough information but I
don’t think it looks nice enough to be a proper magazine also the fact how
there is only one picture and that is in the background it also feels it could
be decorated a lot more and maybe less information to make space for
such things.
Technical Qualities
Technical Qualitites
• It is very easy to see the difference in quality between the
two, the edge magazine is clearly because it has way more
information on the front and has everything but a plug and
a barcode, it also uses a few different fonts and only one
picture and somehow they managed to make the writing
that small and make it still legible to people going by.
• Where-as mine has large bold writing in only two different
fonts and there is much less information however there is a
plug and a barcode this piece also has no information on
the front but it is on the back to make the picture on the
front disrupted as little as possible however I added a
picture of the poster that was being given out for free with
each copy which gave off an incredibly negative effect.
Aesthetic Qualities
Aesthetic Qualities
• Well the design in the middle looks good however the
second line of writing is hard to read with the writing
being so bunched up but the writing at the top and
bottom is still legible, I believe it was alright when it
came to creativity not the best yet not the worst either.
The writing I would like to change to a different font or
color to make it stand out more and I would also add
more information or the title of the magazine ( I just
tried to overcomplicate the design process).
• On the actual magazine it has a far superior design as it
just includes a picture of a character from the game
they were mainly talking about in the magazine, the
title the selling line and the issue number.
Audience Appeal
Audience Appeal
I believe I have appealed to my target audience by giving them a free DOOM poster a
catchy flash and a good picture but I believe the only bits that would appeal would be
the title and the two pictures, however throughout the whole piece there is
information on DOOM +the front and back pages, the DOOM information I had added
would have ben great for my audience as seem as most of them play games for the
lore and not for the fun of it and it would be intriguing to them to learn the past of the
games producer and the past of the games lore and maybe even the past products that
were produced as a result of the series being created and obviously that was because it
was one of the most revolutionary games series in the world, making first person
shooters what they are today and setting the bar high for other games in similar
generations. It also set the bar for games such as wolfenstein and other games id
software released.

– It has a good title
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– Quality of the pictures need to improve.
– Needs background layer to slightly change the colours.
– It is definitely not professional.
– Use better fonts
Peer Feedback Summary
– I would like to add more information to the whole
magazine due to the fact at how the pages feel so
empty and it needs to be filled with either information
or more pictures that related to the topic at hand.
– I need to improve the quality of the writing to make it
more available to the audience I have aimed my
magazine at and it also needs to grab peoples
attention and keep it however I also lose some
interest when reading my articles.
– I also need to add more edges onto my pictures to
make them look better and take up less room.
