Prior to this, there were even excavators whose arms and its mechanism for digging were run by
cables, running along pulley systems. Excavators have a wide variety of uses and can be customized
to fit the desired job. The customization of an excavator involves changing of the bucket or adding
hydraulic attachments. The standard bucket can be changed with various sizes of different types of
buckets (ditch/trench cleaning) and other attachments include augers, hammers, vibratory compactors,
dozers, breakers, grapples, thumbs, clamshells, wood clippers, brush cutters and concrete crushers.
Excavators are used in digging of trenches, holes for foundations beams, general construction or even
demolition of old buildings, sewage works, road widening works, pipe laying and rock breaking and
dragging; resources mining which include overburden, removal in coal mining, gravel collection;
forestry works which entails timber handling and prune off work; metal recycling which involves slag
handling and scrap handling; brush cutting with hydraulic attachments, general grading and
landscaping. To assist in understanding the basis of operation of the excavator, an article on hydraulics
was used. This article gave a general understanding of the principles governing the transmission of
pressure due to hydraulics and its widespread application. The basic idea behind any

Essay on Analysis of Poe’s The Raven
The first two stanzas of The Raven introduce you to the narrator, and his beloved maiden Lenore. You
find him sitting on a dreary and dark evening with a book opened in front of him, though he is dozing
more than reading. Suddenly, he hears knocking on his door, but only believes it to be a visitor
nothing more. He remembers another night, like this one, where he had sought the solace of his library
to forget his sorrows of his long lost beloved, and to wait for dawn. Meanwhile the tapping on his door
continues.
Poe s most famous poem begins with an imagery that immediately brings the reader into a dark, cold,
and stormy night. Poe does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the genius factors of Poe s writing is his way of working his way into the human psyche, with
nothing more than a few words and a perfect setting. You can not really relate to some one, who is
being chased by a monster, because even though it is scary, somewhere in the back of your brain you
know this isn t real. However, everyone can relate to the being psychologically tormented by your
past. Poe seeks to not exactly scare his readers with this poem, but give them a since of the narrators
self torment. Using a raven that only answers in the negative over and over again to whatever question
is asked, slowly driving the narrator insane. One wonders if Poe himself wrote this poem late at night,
under the flickering of candlelight, not having enough sleep or enough to eat, yet under influences
such as alcohol, etc. With the narrators mention of the angel named Lenore, Nameless here for
evermore, Poe is possibly reaching out for his lost love long dead to him.
People wanted to be taking away from the torments of the physical world, the Revolutionary War had
ended years before, yet the country was still trying to be a united country, and to clean up the ravages
of war. Families had lost vital members of their home, and more and more immigrants were coming
into the country to make something of themselves. The cities were

Characters In Ella Enchanted
The character, Ella of Frell, in the film Ella Enchanted , is presented as a self reliant and an
independent woman in the scene where she meets Prince Charmont. Ella s character is portrayed from
the moment when Prince Char is being chased by his fans and runs into Ella, along with saving her
and himself from the crowd. The scene opens up with a full shot, which shows when Prince Char is
bustling away from his admirers and where Ella is also to be seen. This displays that this film has
incorporated what most teenage girls (in modern day) would probably do if they have seen their
celebrity crush. In this case, Ella wasn t part of the fandom, she was the type of girl who didn t cherish
the Prince, in fact, she despised him. Stating that in this

Characteristics Of Giles Corey In The Crucible
Is it possible for somebody to go to court thirty three times and win all those times? For Giles Corey
in The Crucible. Giles Corey has been to court that amount of times and has won all those times. Giles
Corey is married to Martha and lives in Salem. Sadly, in The Crucible Giles gets arrested for contempt
of court and is pressed to death for not giving a yes or no answer to being convicted of witchcraft.
Giles Corey and I share the traits sarcastic, determined, and loyal.
Giles Corey and I have sarcastic as a common trait. In The Crucible, Giles Corey is known for his
sarcastic humor using one liners during the play. This kind of humor is also mine. For example in Act
I, Giles says Let s get your lumber home, John. I feel a sudden will to work coming on. when Thomas
Putnam was arguing with John Proctor over land. I also go this to my friends when they argue. Just
like Giles Corey, I have comments for almost everything. Sometimes I say them out loud to friends or
just think of them in class to myself. I m known for being sarcastic to my friends that know me well,
just like Giles is to his friend John Proctor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Negative Effects Of Ending Animal Cruelty
Ending Animal Cruelty In today s society makeup is becoming more and more popular. Makeup
brands are constantly coming out with new products made of different ingredients that they think will
pull people in. Where do these ingredients come from? How do they know they re safe for people?
Makeup brands are using innocent animals to make sure that these products aren t going to be harmful
to people. But of course they don t know if they are harmful before they test them on animals. Many
high end makeup brands test on animals without anyone even knowing. Lush cosmetics does not test
on animals, this ad is part of the campaign they have to get people involved in trying to end or replace
animal testing. In my first ad Lush uses a cute little bunny to get to appeal to the viewers pathos.
Seeing a small animal with makeup that is harmful to it isn t going to make people want to buy a
brand s products. That is the message Lush is trying to get across by this ad. If the makeup is harmful
to animals it would be harmful to you. Not to mention these animals don t deserve this at all. The
people testing these products on these animals don t know the effect it will have on them, hence the
reason why it is a test. The pathos in this ad is going to make you think twice about buying makeup
brands that test on animals. The second ad is a commercial starring Angie Hill. In the commercial Hill
is using makeup on her face, perfume on her neck and also showing the effects of it. As she is

I recently stayed at the Denver Warwick hotel for a business meeting and was very pleased with the
entire experience! I will start off and mention the small gripes I have, one of which is how far this
place is from the airport. I suppose that is to be expected since it is in Downtown Denver, and
Colorado is definitely a vast area (this was my first visit out there...) but the $65 ride from the airport
was a sting! The other thing I found to be a little odd was that there was no ATM in the hotel. We
needed cash to be able to pay our car driver back to the airport, and had to go across the street to one
(which ended up being out of service) so that was a little inconvenient, but our driver was kind and
helped us find one nearby. Beyond those two things, the stay at the Warwick was nothing but positive.
I was given a junior suite that was also handicapped accessible, and it was perfect. There was a very
comfortable king bed, a big flat screen TV, a little sitting area upon entering and a desk/office area
with plenty of outlets to plug in electronics! The wireless access was $10 a day, but for a flawless high
speed, connection, it was well worth it The bathroom was absolutely beautiful and very good sized!
Not only was there a roll in shower with a showerhead that could be lowered, but there was also a
bathtub (that was lower than average so it was easier to step in and out of) with yet another

Life, Liberty, And Pursuit Of Happiness In The Declaration...
The United States, one of the most powerful nations in the world, was founded less than two hundred
and fifty years ago. Since 1776, the year when the thirteen original colonies ratified the Constitution,
three cornerstone ideas have been the drivers of the country s progress Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of
Happiness. Found in the Declaration of Independence, which was written by Thomas Jefferson, these
three concepts have been crucial in the lives of all Americans throughout the existence of this nation.
Liberty, which includes personal and economic freedom, was the main reason why the colonies
decided to break away from the United Kingdom in the eighteenth century. The U.S. went through
many economic booms, various recessions, and several major economic depressions throughout its
history. Yet, here it is, mostly unscathed and in full glory, still dominating the world stage in economic
and foreign affairs. However, in the past two three decades, the economic conditions have changed
adversely, especially for the younger generations. It is an undeniable fact that the consumer and labor
markets have undergone tremendous adjustments, partly due to people s changing lifestyles, as well as
globalization. According to Janet Yellen , the U.S. Federal Reserve Chairwoman s, statement to
Congress, the [country s] financial conditions have worsened and the United States economy has
become less supportive of growth in recent years (Web). The combination of these various factors and

Islamic Banking Advantages And Disadvantages
According to Mansoor Khan, Islamic banking and finance (IBF) is an economic ideology that depends
on Shariah rules which are extracted from the Islamic holy book Quran and Al Sunnah what the
prophet Mohammed stated or did. This ideology is mainly about expunging interest and other
exploitive elements from the financial sphere. Islamic finance is an equity based system depends
mainly on Profit and Loss Sharing (PLS) modes. the instruments for doing so are Mudarabah (Joint

He also stated that Islamic banks in Egypt have a low market share of only 2 5%.
The causes of this low demand are still unclear, and probably the problem lies in the fact
that it is still unpopular enough. We suggest that a level of awareness should be provided
about the advantages of investment in Islamic banks in Egypt.
The report resulting from the survey gave many information about the condition
of Islamic banks in Egypt. The survey was conducted on a sample of one thousand adults
above 15 years old in the year 2012 in Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Yemen. The
percentage of Muslim respondents as they identified themselves were 95% in Egypt
compared to 100% in other countries. While 48% of the survey respondents have known
of the Islamic banks in their countries, just 8% of the ones who took loans or have an
account in a financial institution have referred to themselves as current users of Islamic
banks. Islamic banking is also growing a lot in the Arab world, according to the survey, it
is considered one of the most growing financial sectors and accounts for 1% of global
financial assets. The leading countries of this banking system is GCC (Gulf

Stylistics In Textual Analysis
1. Introduction and Theoretical framework 1.1 stylistics Stylistics is the linguistic study of style in
language. There has been a long debate among scholars about the role and definition of stylistics
.Many scholars have tried to give their insights about the role of stylistics to the field of textual
analysis. Coyle ( 1993) states that the purpose of stylistics is to uncover the literary language used by
the author to formulate his message. stylistics then is concerned with revealing the aesthetic and
artistic aspects of a text. Simpson ( 2004) provides a similar understanding of stylistics. He asserts that
the role of the discipline is to explore the creativity in language usage . Simpson further ... Show more

The analyst can also investigate the use of definite or indefinite articles, demonstratives such as this or

been researchers that have done studies and articles written about how politicians use pronouns in a
strategic way to show power, solidarity or authority, for example if a speaker uses mostly the pronoun

Dulce Et Decorum Est By Jessie Pope Analysis
War Poetry Comparative Essay
The saying dulce et decorum est pro patria mori comes from the roman poet Horace in Ode III.2.13, it
translates back to how sweet and fitting it is to die for one s country. When Dulce Et Decorum Est was
first written in 1917, it was directed at the poet Jessie Pope, then the dedication changed to a certain
poetess . However, this dedication was never published as Wilfred Owen wanted the poem to reach
everyone and not just Pope. Pope was a famous WW1 poet best known for her pro war, motivational
poems, her most famous being Who s for the Game . The themes in Dulce Et Decorum Est (DEDE)
are war, death and patriotism. Who s for the Game (WFTG), has the same themes of war and
patriotism, but also sports and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patriotism is a large part in any piece of war poetry, the two we are analysing show to very different
beliefs. WFTG is very patriotic almost jingoistic whereas DEDE is cynical towards patriotism. In
WFTG lines 16 17 Pope writes Your country is up to her neck in a fight // and she s looking and
calling for you with an emphasis on you . Most lines in this poem start with who ll and then finally in
the last two lines of the poem it changes from who to you. No longer who will do it, who will save
people, now it s changed you will do it. Linking back to the patriotism in these lines. It personifies the
country, as a damsel in distress figure. Something the man can save, become a hero. But not only this,
the use of your this gets the reader to believe that England is their country and they have to protect
what s theirs. Thus using patriotism to get men sign up for the war without them knowing it. As
mentioned earlier Owens view of patriotism in DEDE are very different from Pope s, almost the exact
opposite. This, however, was probably due to Owens own experience in war, seeing the suffering that
he writes about in Dulce Et Decorum Est . Much like Pope, Owens last lines show his true feeling
when it comes to patriotism. These lines are most likely aimed at Pope, the lines being My friend, you
will not tell with such high zest // To children ardent for some desperate glory // The old lie: Dulce est
decorum est // Pro patria mori. The words in this extract are so harsh and bitter. The word desperate
implies the war is pathetic, not real glory, a pathetic glory. The patronising use of friend really shows
the reader that this poem is not aimed at them but someone else. Owen is saying to Pope how can you
tell these boys, who are so excited for this great war, so prepared to die, that it is sweet and fitting to
die, for your country, when this is what death is in the war. How can this be

Exotic Pets Are Unique And Unusual Pets
Exotic pets are very rare and unusual pets, that are usually they are some sort of rodent, reptile, or
amphibian. They do not always adjust well to being in a domesticated environment and tend to evolve
and lash out later in life. Most exotic pets are are unique and wild looking like snakes and lizards.
Exotic pet trade is one of the largest businesses in the world as a result of selling exotic wildlife in
auctions, stores or online and is a multi billion dollar player in the criminal industry.. Some owners

reported injured or killed by exotic animals a year and since 1990 there has been a reported 2,066
exotic animal accidents(Live Science). Exotic pets can also transmit many diseases that are deadly to
humans. Monkeys are known to carry Herpes B and a source explains, An estimated 90 percent of all

The Significance of Soundscan
Historical Background After the World War II ended, the enormous population of new generation who
were given birth during the war era became majority of the world. In that regard, most industries
smoothly switched the aim to the new customers. For example, music industry, one of the most
sensitive industries, rapidly aligned line of sight to the newly born customers. While the previous era
which was about to cross the border of Post Romanticism era was more focused on art music or the
purpose of encouraging patriotism, the post war era music was more focused on practical profits. As
such, the new generation was targeted. The result of that, pop music culture was emerged. As the scale

Billboard which is the most influential music magazine of 21st century was originally a town
magazine which connected bill board owners and advertisers. In Pre war and Post war era, the
magazine, Billboard had been conducting introducing brand new entertainment news. It is said that the
first chart of popular music was posted on January 4th, 1936. The way it measured the chart in that era
is said that the magazine s workers counted all the music play frequency from radio, juke boxes and
selling amount of retail stores. On March 1st, 1991, when the internet was gradually generalized, and
the method for listening to music had moved from CD to the internet down loading, Billboard
constructed the new music play data accumulating system which was named as Nielson Sound Scan.
From this point, Billboard started accumulating the music play data on the Internet, and reflected that
on the chart.

Pig Trachealis Smooth Muscle Pharmomechanical coupling...
Pig Trachealis Smooth Muscle Pharmomechanical coupling uses Internal Calcium stores whilst
Electromechanical coupling uses Extracellular Calcium
Crystal Nguyen
School of Anatomy, Physiology and Human Biology, The University of Western Australia, WA, 6009
Introduction
Smooth muscle contraction occurs when calcium is present in the smooth muscle cell and binds onto
calmodulin to activate myosin light chain kinase (Wilson et al., 2002). Phosphorylation of myosin
light chains result in myosin ATPase activity thus cross bridge cycling occurs causing the muscle to
contract (Horowitz et al., 1996). There are two known models of excitation and contraction in smooth
muscle, electromechanical coupling (EMC) and pharmomechanical coupling ... Show more content on

Next, to determine if contraction via the EMC pathway requires extracellular or intracellular calcium,
the second type of stimulus was used and the tissue was stimulated using calcium free K+ depolarising
solution. The bathing solution in this experiment was calcium free solution to make sure all
extracellular calcium was eliminated, as without calcium, the EMC pathway is expected to produce no
response.
The second experiment sought to determine whether calcium entry is via L type calcium channels,
therefore, verapamil (10 5 M) was used to block these channels. The tissue was then stimulated using
0.2ml of Ach (10 5 M) and K+ depolarising solution.
Results
When the tissue was immersed in calcium free solution and stimulated with Ach via the PMC
pathway, a small contraction (1.15g) was observed compared to the baseline contraction trace (6.37g).
Contraction recovered when the bathing solution was changed back to normal Krebs (5.63g). For the
next stimulus, K+ depolarising solution, the baseline control produced a force of 6.17g in normal
Krebs solution. When calcium free K+ depolarising solution was used to stimulate the tissue in
calcium free solution, via the EMC pathway, the tissue barely contracted at 0.09g. In the second
experiment, verapamil was added to the bathing solution. When the tissue was stimulated by Ach in
the presence of verapamil, it

Nucleophilic Substitution Lab Report
Nucleophilic aliphatic substitution is the substitution of one functional group for another functional
group. The substitution is made at a saturated carbon atom. A saturated carbon is a carbon atom that is
sp3 hybridized. For a compound to be considered a nucleophile they must possess certain properties.
Nucleophiles must contain at least one pair of non bonding electrons and be neutral or have a negative
charge. Through nucleophilic substitution the non bonding electrons are donated to the electrophile.
The leaving group can also be either neutral or have a negative charge. Said leaving group must also
accept a pair of bonding electrons from the carbon atom that the leaving group was attached to (1).
The electrons are pulled as the bond between the carbon atom and the leaving group breaks. Some
leaving groups are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Safety is a priority. Always add acid to water, this reduces some of the heat created and does not create
any acid spitting in the hood. If sulfuric acid is spilled and comes in contact with skin, the area should

once the 1 butanol, hydrobromic acid, and sulfuric acid were added was yellow orange in color. After

Marine Insurance
INTRODUCTION
Insurance is a form of risk management in which the insured transfers the cost of potential loss to
another entity in exchange for monetary compensation known as the premium.
Insurance allows individuals, businesses and other entities to protect themselves against significant
potential losses and financial hardship at a reasonably affordable rate. We say significant because if
the potential loss is small, then it doesn t make sense to pay a premium to protect against the loss.

Insuring anything other than human life is called general insurance. Examples are insuring property
like house and belongings against fire and theft or vehicles against accidental damage or theft. Injury
due to accident or hospitalization for illness and surgery can also be insured. Your liabilities to others
arising out of the law can also be insured and is compulsory in some cases like motor third party
insurance.
General insurance companies have willingly catered to these increasing demands and have offered a
plethora of insurance covers that almost cover anything under the sun.
Any insurance other than Life Insurance falls under the classification of General Insurance. It
comprises of: * Insurance of property against fire, theft, burglary, terrorism, natural disasters etc *
Personal insurance such as Accident Policy, Health Insurance and liability insurance which covers
legal liabilities. * Errors and Omissions Insurance for professionals, credit insurance etc. * Policy
covers such as coverage of machinery against breakdown or loss or damage during the transit. *
Policies that provide marine insurance covering goods in transit by sea, air, railways, waterways and

The Evolution Of Pointe Shoes
Pointe shoes are the symbol of the ballerina and they have had a huge impact on the history of dance.
They are way more complex than what we tend to think and throughout this essay we will go over
their creation, how they re structured, and how they impacted ballet.
In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on
graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris Opéra Ballet in a performance
of Les Caractères de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. She had also shortened her
stage skirt to show off the turnout of her legs and feet as well as her bas de jambe during entrechats.
After the French Revolution in 1789, emphasis was placed on the functional aspect ... Show more

This resulted in a demand for more elaborate pointe shoes. A wide range of designs were on the
market: from soft block shoes, which are designed for transition from soft shoes to pointe shoes, to
extremely hard shoes, which give extra strength, to machine manufactured rehearsal pointes for dance
students operating on a smaller budget. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed,
Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth
century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and designer
brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the pointe shoe style to
create ballerina fashion shoes.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi
pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as
playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and
contributed to a new dance aesthetic. This overt emphasis on the lightness of dancers was reflected by
Marie Taglioni, who appeared sur les pointes in the first performance of La Sylphide in 1832. Some
early examples of pointe shoes from this period are exhibited in the Haydn Museum in

Appropriation Of Name Or Likeness For Commercial Purposes
Privacy is an especially equivocal idea, in particularly because invasion of privacy is a concept that is
arguably questionable. Privacy has been defined as the right to be left alone without unwarranted
intrusion by government, media, or other institutions or individuals. While this definition serves as a
quick start to the right of privacy, there are still several interpretations as to what may or may not
constitute as an invasion of privacy. What one person may believe to be an innocent curiosity, another
may feel as though it is an deliberate invasion of privacy. Often these disputes make their way into
courtrooms and are subjected to controversy and evaluation. This essay will focus on appropriation of
name or likeness for commercial purposes. First, it will define the right of privacy, and right of
publicity. Next, the evaluation and discussion of four cases in which appropriation of name or likeness
for commercial gain was assessed in courtrooms. Then after, thoughts on current developments in this
area of law will be discussed, as well as suggestions for current working journalists. Finally, closing
and concluding statements will be addressed.
Background
In the mid twentieth century, the tort of appropriation experienced a shift. Courts reoriented the tort so
that it no longer exclusively protected a person s interest in dignity or privacy, but rather the pecuniary
interest in the commercial exploitation of one s identity, or one s right of

Gangster Genre In The Film Goodfellas By Martin Scorsese
The America gangster genre were life lessons that faced social issues and revealed the reality of
materialism. The typological characteristics in the gangster films were stories being told from a
criminal s point of view. Most gangster protagonists in the films are born outsider, immigrants, or
other groups who continues to be treated as outsiders. The gangster genre illustrates immigrants and
nativists who had different perspectives about what is the American Dream . The history of the
gangster genre is difficult to define, because there are several overlaps with gangster genre among
other film genre styles. The confirmation of what is a true gangster film involves the gangster
protagonist telling their story.

An African American gangster film, known as a gangsta film is about a heroin dealer name Frank
Lucas. Lucas organized crime in Harlem during the late 1960 s and early 1970 s. His tactics were
cutting out the middlemen in the drug trade and buying heroin directly from his source in Southeast
Asia. Then he proceeded to smuggle the heroin from Vietnam to the U.S. by using the coffins of dead
American servicemen (Frank, web). Another film called, Boardwalk Empire who added a political
dimension, continuing the gangster genre s focus on the fragility of the American Dream by the links
it made noticeable among family, crime, and national and local politics (Friedman, 422).
The American Dream is an illusion and the gangster genre showed those illusions in an entertainment
point of view. The gangster protagonists all were searching for a better life. Their perceptions of the
American Dream were someone being on top with money and power. Most of the protagonists were
immigrants who wanted to be a part of society that held barriers against them. The gangster genre
films allow the audience to see that Americans tend to lose their grip on reality as they pursue their

Sir Winston Churchill s We Will Fight at the Beaches
Sir Winston Churchill is my favorite speaker of all times. He was a very prepared, confident and
studied journalist, historian, artist, writer, (he won a Nobel Prize in Literature), an Officer of the UK
army, a statesman and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Even though I did not live through World War II nor am I British, listening to his speeches on
YouTube really gives me the chills. I can easily realize why he was one of the most influential leaders
during the War while being the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. His power to unite and
motivate his people was amazing; many have ever since followed his speaking techniques. He literally
led his country from the brink of defeat to victory with innate leadership abilities. He was a great
strategist as well, the alliance he began with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and General
Secretary Joseph Stalin was key for the imminent defeat of the Axis countries. I firmly believe that for
this reasons Sir Winston Churchill was one of the most if not the most important key characters in the
World War II. I chose this speech because, it effectively brought England together and indirectly
invited the U.S into and alliance who was later key for the victory, it provided a warning on an
imminent German invasion and a big load of encouragement to believe in a future victory. I will be

Summary Of 90 Minutes In Heaven By Don Piper
I read the book 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. This book is an autobiography that tells the real
life story of how a man dies and comes back to life. It was a cold, early winter morning when Don
Piper decided to take a different route to work. Don was crossing a bridge when a semi hit a patch of
ice and swerved out of control smashing into Don and his red coupe at seventy miles per hour.
Paramedics arrived immediately and pronounced Don to be dead. He had died instantly in the crash.
Many people ran to the scene to help with the 100 hundred car pileup. Among these people was a man
named Dick Onerecker. For some reason, he had the urge to crawl in the back of Don s car and pray
with Don even though he had been pronounced dead.

place that I am not ready to go to yet, but I am not afraid to go when my time is done here on earth.
One of the things that Don Piper cleared up about heaven for me is, that anyone can go. Before I
somewhat believed in the one hundred and forty thousand capacity limit that is mentioned in the bible.
Now I believe that any christian can make it to heaven as long as they are a practicing christian and
are active with the lord. Purgatory is something I have always thought a lot about and something that I
have feared. I am now more that I will be able to make it to heaven without having to make a trip to

The Importance Of Music In Education
Music has always been and still is one of the greatest heritage that we have as a human being, that s
the reasons why people called it the universal language of humankind. No matter where we are music
is always there around us and that show s how important music is for us human beings. Without
music, we don t have the way to express our feeling with, technically life will be dulled without any
music.
By saying that, we need to understand that music is one of the essential tools for children development
and it also helps their brain function. Through music, children learn how to communicate their
thoughts and their feelings. According to (Cecil Fizdale 1991 in The Arts and Early Childhood) state
that Children s ability and need to express feelings fully and freely with their bodies makes movement
and dance a vital part of any educational program.
Young children love to sing, they love hearing their own voices by experimenting with different
melody, tone, and rhythm. That s one of many ways younger children learn how to play. When a softer
and soothing music is playing during the day, children tend to be more relaxed and quiet. Music is a
primary experience for us human. This is why music should be the important subject to have in early
childhood curriculum.
Greata (2006) talk about the ideas of Edwin Gordon, a researcher in music education, tells us that: if a
child is not stimulated in a particular area such as music, she will lose some of her natural potential in

For some time we have believed the game industry is ready for disruption.
Not just from Nintendo, but from all game developers. It is what we all need to expand our audience.
It is what we all need to expand our imaginations.

During the period 1970 to 1985, Nintendo began focusing on the manufacture of electronic toys and
entered the budding field of video games [see Exhibit 1].
Interestingly, 1991, the year when Nintendo launched the highly popular Super NES in the
US, was also the year that saw Nintendo s vision become Sony s opportunity and the creation of what
could be described as Nintendo s greatest challenge for over a decade the Sony PlayStation ( PS ).
Nintendo had wanted to incorporate CD ROM into their Super
NES, and Sony had agreed to create the PS for this purpose. However, over the next two years,
conflicts of vision between Nintendo and Sony continued, and the two finally parted ways.
Nintendo went ahead with Philips technology, 4 and Sony was left with the PS, which the company
decided to continue developing. Given Sony s clout and resources, when the PS and its wide range of
games were finally released in Japan in 1994, the console was an instant resounding success. In 1995,
Sony released the PS in the US, totally uprooting Nintendo s established name in the industry.
For many years, Nintendo had been a dominant player in the video game industry. It had sold more

Persuasive Speech On Life In Our Life
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. It appears that you have taken one step closer to death. Death is all around us;
the air we breathe every day, hour, minute, second is crucial to our survival. However, air can be seen
as a double edge sword. Air, is what is keeping us alive, for if we stopped breathing, we would die of
suffocation. On the other hand, the longer we breathe, the closer we are towards death. In this sense, a
burning what if question has been on my mind: what if the air we are breathing is a poison that is
slowly killing us? Think about that. If this were to be true? What have you done...or plan to do that
makes breathing this poisonous air worthy?
Many people today waste much of their life doing useless things. They do not realize that each breath
they spend on the couch or dreaming of things they could do, they are wasting their opportunity to
really do something. Let me break this down for you. Life expectancy for a typically American is
about 79 years or 948 months. Of those 79 years, 1/3 of the time is spent sleeping, leaving us with
about 632 months. After taking into consideration factors such as eating, using the restroom, and
browsing the internet, we are left with roughly 19 years to live. 19 years may seem like a lot, but that
is only about 24% of your life that is actually in your hands. After finding out these surprising stats, I
began to rethink my life. I looked a little closer around the community I grew up in and realized that
there was a huge need within my community.
I first began to get involved within my community eighth grade year through the Community
Thanksgiving Meal. At first, I did not realize that all the people coming in for a meal or the places that
needed a delivery was all just right within my community. As the years went by, I slowly became
more and more involved. I started from only coming in on Thanksgiving Day to help to being there
every step of the way. I remember volunteering to coordinate a clothing drive last year to give clothes
to those in need during the Thanksgiving Meal. At the end of that Thanksgiving Day, a lady comes up
to me and asks if she could grab a few extra items. The lady had on a thin coat and I immediately
knew that she needed help. I ran and

The Rights Opportunity Commission ( Eeoc )
The issue of discrimination is very widely discussed, so widely that laws and statutes have been
enacted and are continually addressed every day. This may occur in a courtroom, on the legislative
floor or at the employer s offices, but the fact that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) receives around 80,000 discriminatory filings annually, with 99,922 in 2010, there is little
wonder the amount of attention to discrimination is warranted (Walsh, 2013). According to the EEOC
s website, the discrimination claims were more than the annual averages, but less than 99,000 in 2010,
at 88,788 in 2014 ( EEOC Releases Fiscal , 2015). These figures reiterate the importance and
diligence in which discriminatory acts must be handled by all parties involved. The discussion for the
complete section relates to an age discrimination case where a 53 year old director continually
observed administration admonishing its inability to hire young staff workers, to the point the director
was relieved of her duties after she claimed administration wanted her to fire older staff but she
refused and once dismissed, the director was on medical leave and told to report daily, when she failed
to do so, the administrators used that action as the reason for termination (Walsh, 2013).
Discrimination comes down to the legality of actions and not the fairness of public opinion. Even with
the need for an employee having the burden of proof, the likelihood discrimination in this case

Dawn Brancati Decentralization
Dawn Brancati furthered the literature around the decentralization of governments in her work,
Decentralization: Fueling the Fire or Dampening the Flames of Ethnic Conflict and Secessionism?.
She introduces a point that had not been explored before in academia, by showing a causal
relationship between regional parties and ethnic conflict/secessionism. She displays in her work that
political decentralization indirectly leads to ethnic conflict and secessionism. This is not inherent to
the structure of a decentralized government, but rather inherent to the political climate that
decentralization creates. This is because politically decentralized governments foster regional political
parties. She shows through a statistical analysis of 30 countries, that it is the power of regional parties
that ultimately increases or decreases ethnic conflict and desires for secession.

Her analysis of decentralization focuses on ethnic conflict and secessionism. Ethnic conflict is
violence between ethnic groups and secessionism is the movement of people towards an independent
state. The main focus of her paper is on regional parties within politically decentralized governments.
Regional parties differentiate from a national political party in that a regional party focuses their
efforts both in policy making and campaigning in a specific region within a state.
Brancati begins her analysis by posing the question, what impact does a decentralized government
have on ethnic conflict and secessionism? The conventional knowledge on the topic is that political
decentralization is believed to reduce ethnic conflict and secessionism in the world today...by bringing
the government closer to the people, increasing opportunities to participate in government, and giving
groups control over their political, social, and economic affairs. She believes in this statement to the

My Field Experiences At The International Newcomer Academy...
As I entered the doors of International Newcomers Academy (INA) for the first time, I can remember

approach, this includes utilizing Jensen s seven critical factors. These factors include engagement,
repetition. input quantity, coherence, timing, error correction and emotional states. Each factor is
distinct in its function and implantation. There are numerous benefits to incorporating these seven
critical factors into lessons such as engagement will induce focus and gain the student s attention,
repetition will enable the students to preview, review, and revise the information, input quantity limits
the amount of information resulting in a deeper understanding, coherence builds off the student s
personal experiences and prior knowledge, timing provides for activity shifts and best suitable

The Grapes Of Wrath By Ma Joad
Ma Joad: Keeping her family in line since 1939
In a time where women were considered inferior, The Grapes of Wrath uses secondary characters,
specifically Ma Joad, to demonstrate a woman taking charge in a family setting, and the relationships
of such a woman with others. Ma helps amplify the theme of feminism and women s rights in different
scenarios. Her relationships with Pa, her daughter Rose of Sharon, and even herself all convey
different elements of an extraordinary leader and an amazing mother.
Ma and Pa s relationship throughout The Grapes of Wrath defies the idea of a normal couple in the era
of the Dust Bowl. They are represented very much as equals through the conflicts their family has to
face, contrary to other couples, where the husband is in charge. Ma takes the lead in many situations
and Pa respects, and maybe even fears her opinions. Ma commandeers decision making and often
causes conflicts with her strong beliefs. This passage conveys the dynamic of their relationship very
early on in the book: Pa broke in, But s pose there just ain t room? He had twisted his neck to look up
at her, and he was ashamed. Her tone had made him ashamed. [...] She stopped, and Pa turned back,
and his spirit was raw from the whipping. (Steinbeck 132) Not only does Pa look to Ma for advice, but
he also notices that she has a higher authority over the family than he does. It becomes obvious as the
book goes on that he is not well equipped to deal with the situations that

The Pros And Cons Of Malware
What Is Malware? You sure have heard before terms such as virus, worm, Trojan or rootkit when
people discuss internet security. These names describe types of programs used by internet criminals or
hackers to hack and take over computers and mobile devices. All of these different terms can be
simply called malware. We can simply say that malware is a software, a computer program used by
hackers to perform malicious actions. In fact, the word malware is a combination of two words
malicious and software. The end goal of most hackers is to install a malware on your device. And once
it s installed, these hackers can potentially take control of that device. Many people have this wrong
idea of malware is being a problem only for Windows computers. And the reality is, Windows is
widely used, which makes it a big target, malware can attack any computing device, including
smartphones and tablets. In fact, the percentage of malicious software action against mobile devices is
steadily growing. (Zeltser, L. 2014) Malware in these days is no longer created by just curious

Characteristics Of Puck In A Midsummer Night s Dream
A Midsummer Night s Dream is a comedic play about a complex love relationship between four
lovers, Hermia, Lysander, Helena, and Demetrius. The king of fairies, Oberon orders a hobgoblin
named Robin Goodfellow or puck to retrieve an extraordinary flower so he can put the juice into the
queen of fairies, Titania s eyes. This was an exceptional flower because when the juice is applied to a
person s eyelid, it makes them fall in love with the first creature they see. Robin obtains the flower and
drops the juice onto Titania, Demetrius, and Lysander s eyelids where they fall in love with the wrong

Robin is the hero of the play and is an amazing character.
In A Midsummer Night s Dream, there are many different choices that affect the storyline of the play.
One major choice that affected the storyline is when Robin anointed Demetrius and Lysander with the
juice of the flower. As a result of this happening, they both fell in love with Helena. Angry of jealousy,
Hermia started to fight Helena. Another action that majorly affected the plot was the fact Oberon
wanted to take the Indian boy away from Titania, so he comes up with the idea to put the flower juice
on her eyelids. Without this scheme, there would be no conflict and no solution to the problem
between the four lovers. Also, the fact that Robin agreed to anoint the liquid to the three characters
eyelids was a crucial part of the plot. If Robin were to decline the offer, there would be no storyline.
Also, fate made Hermia and Lysander love each other which helped the play. Those were some
choices the characters made that heavily affected the story of the play.
The theme of A Midsummer Night s Dream is magic. The reason the theme of the play is magic is
because throughout the play, the main subject is how it shaped the characters lives. One example of
magic is the love potion . This love potion makes anyone fall in love with the first creature they see if

Excavators have a wide variety of uses and can be customized to fit the desired job. The customization of an excavator involves changing of the bucket or adding hydraulic attachments. The standard bucket can be changed with various sizes of different types of buckets (ditch/trench cleaning) and other attachments include augers, hammers, vibratory compactors, dozers, breakers, grapples, thumbs, clamshells, wood clippers, brush cutters and concrete crushers. Excavators are used in digging of trenches, holes for foundations beams, general construction or even demolition of old buildings, sewage works, road widening works, pipe laying and rock breaking and dragging; resources mining which include overburden, removal in coal mining, gravel collection; forestry works which entails timber handling and prune off work; metal recycling which involves slag handling and scrap handling; brush cutting with hydraulic attachments, general grading and landscaping. • 4. Essay on Analysis of Poe’s The Raven The first two stanzas of The Raven introduce you to the narrator, and his beloved maiden Lenore. You find him sitting on a dreary and dark evening with a book opened in front of him, though he is dozing more than reading. Suddenly, he hears knocking on his door, but only believes it to be a visitor nothing more. He remembers another night, like this one, where he had sought the solace of his library to forget his sorrows of his long lost beloved, and to wait for dawn. Meanwhile the tapping on his door continues. Poe s most famous poem begins with an imagery that immediately brings the reader into a dark, cold, and stormy night. Poe does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the genius factors of Poe s writing is his way of working his way into the human psyche, with nothing more than a few words and a perfect setting. You can not really relate to some one, who is being chased by a monster, because even though it is scary, somewhere in the back of your brain you know this isn t real. However, everyone can relate to the being psychologically tormented by your past. Poe seeks to not exactly scare his readers with this poem, but give them a since of the narrators self torment. Using a raven that only answers in the negative over and over again to whatever question is asked, slowly driving the narrator insane. One wonders if Poe himself wrote this poem late at night, under the flickering of candlelight, not having enough sleep or enough to eat, yet under influences such as alcohol, etc. With the narrators mention of the angel named Lenore, Nameless here for evermore, Poe is possibly reaching out for his lost love long dead to him. People wanted to be taking away from the torments of the physical world, the Revolutionary War had ended years before, yet the country was still trying to be a united country, and to clean up the ravages of war. Families had lost vital members of their home, and more and more immigrants were coming into the country to make something of themselves. The cities were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ella s character is portrayed from the moment when Prince Char is being chased by his fans and runs into Ella, along with saving her and himself from the crowd. The scene opens up with a full shot, which shows when Prince Char is bustling away from his admirers and where Ella is also to be seen. This displays that this film has incorporated what most teenage girls (in modern day) would probably do if they have seen their celebrity crush. In this case, Ella wasn t part of the fandom, she was the type of girl who didn t cherish the Prince, in fact, she despised him. Stating that in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Characteristics Of Giles Corey In The Crucible Is it possible for somebody to go to court thirty three times and win all those times? For Giles Corey in The Crucible. Giles Corey has been to court that amount of times and has won all those times. Giles Corey is married to Martha and lives in Salem. Sadly, in The Crucible Giles gets arrested for contempt of court and is pressed to death for not giving a yes or no answer to being convicted of witchcraft. Giles Corey and I share the traits sarcastic, determined, and loyal. Giles Corey and I have sarcastic as a common trait. In The Crucible, Giles Corey is known for his sarcastic humor using one liners during the play. This kind of humor is also mine. For example in Act I, Giles says Let s get your lumber home, John. I feel a sudden will to work coming on. when Thomas Putnam was arguing with John Proctor over land. I also go this to my friends when they argue. Just like Giles Corey, I have comments for almost everything. Sometimes I say them out loud to friends or just think of them in class to myself. I m known for being sarcastic to my friends that know me well, just like Giles is to his friend John Proctor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Giles is most known in Salem for going to court thirty three times and winning all the trials for land. Hearing how Giles is determined to get the land, I can also relate to that trait. Just like Giles I was also set on another goal, being Alice for my Alice In Wonderland ballet dance last year. I worked hard and beat out the other girls receiving Alice s part. • 7. The Negative Effects Of Ending Animal Cruelty Ending Animal Cruelty In today s society makeup is becoming more and more popular. Makeup brands are constantly coming out with new products made of different ingredients that they think will pull people in. Where do these ingredients come from? How do they know they re safe for people? Makeup brands are using innocent animals to make sure that these products aren t going to be harmful to people. But of course they don t know if they are harmful before they test them on animals. Many high end makeup brands test on animals without anyone even knowing. Lush cosmetics does not test on animals, this ad is part of the campaign they have to get people involved in trying to end or replace animal testing. In my first ad Lush uses a cute little bunny to get to appeal to the viewers pathos. Seeing a small animal with makeup that is harmful to it isn t going to make people want to buy a brand s products. That is the message Lush is trying to get across by this ad. If the makeup is harmful to animals it would be harmful to you. Not to mention these animals don t deserve this at all. The people testing these products on these animals don t know the effect it will have on them, hence the reason why it is a test. The pathos in this ad is going to make you think twice about buying makeup brands that test on animals. The second ad is a commercial starring Angie Hill. In the commercial Hill is using makeup on her face, perfume on her neck and also showing the effects of it. As she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I recently stayed at the Denver Warwick hotel for a business meeting and was very pleased with the entire experience! I will start off and mention the small gripes I have, one of which is how far this place is from the airport. I suppose that is to be expected since it is in Downtown Denver, and Colorado is definitely a vast area (this was my first visit out there...) but the $65 ride from the airport was a sting! The other thing I found to be a little odd was that there was no ATM in the hotel. We needed cash to be able to pay our car driver back to the airport, and had to go across the street to one (which ended up being out of service) so that was a little inconvenient, but our driver was kind and helped us find one nearby. Beyond those two things, the stay at the Warwick was nothing but positive. I was given a junior suite that was also handicapped accessible, and it was perfect. Since 1776, the year when the thirteen original colonies ratified the Constitution, three cornerstone ideas have been the drivers of the country s progress Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. Found in the Declaration of Independence, which was written by Thomas Jefferson, these three concepts have been crucial in the lives of all Americans throughout the existence of this nation. Liberty, which includes personal and economic freedom, was the main reason why the colonies decided to break away from the United Kingdom in the eighteenth century. The U.S. went through many economic booms, various recessions, and several major economic depressions throughout its history. Yet, here it is, mostly unscathed and in full glory, still dominating the world stage in economic and foreign affairs. However, in the past two three decades, the economic conditions have changed adversely, especially for the younger generations. There has been a long debate among scholars about the role and definition of stylistics .Many scholars have tried to give their insights about the role of stylistics to the field of textual analysis. Coyle ( 1993) states that the purpose of stylistics is to uncover the literary language used by the author to formulate his message. stylistics then is concerned with revealing the aesthetic and artistic aspects of a text. • 13. Dulce Et Decorum Est By Jessie Pope Analysis War Poetry Comparative Essay The saying dulce et decorum est pro patria mori comes from the roman poet Horace in Ode III.2.13, it translates back to how sweet and fitting it is to die for one s country. When Dulce Et Decorum Est was first written in 1917, it was directed at the poet Jessie Pope, then the dedication changed to a certain poetess . However, this dedication was never published as Wilfred Owen wanted the poem to reach everyone and not just Pope. Pope was a famous WW1 poet best known for her pro war, motivational poems, her most famous being Who s for the Game . The themes in Dulce Et Decorum Est (DEDE) are war, death and patriotism. Patriotism is a large part in any piece of war poetry, the two we are analysing show to very different beliefs. WFTG is very patriotic almost jingoistic whereas DEDE is cynical towards patriotism. In WFTG lines 16 17 Pope writes Your country is up to her neck in a fight // and she s looking and calling for you with an emphasis on you . Most lines in this poem start with who ll and then finally in the last two lines of the poem it changes from who to you. No longer who will do it, who will save people, now it s changed you will do it. Linking back to the patriotism in these lines. It personifies the country, as a damsel in distress figure. Something the man can save, become a hero. But not only this, the use of your this gets the reader to believe that England is their country and they have to protect what s theirs. Thus using patriotism to get men sign up for the war without them knowing it. As mentioned earlier Owens view of patriotism in DEDE are very different from Pope s, almost the exact opposite. This, however, was probably due to Owens own experience in war, seeing the suffering that he writes about in Dulce Et Decorum Est . Much like Pope, Owens last lines show his true feeling when it comes to patriotism. These lines are most likely aimed at Pope, the lines being My friend, you will not tell with such high zest // To children ardent for some desperate glory // The old lie: Dulce est decorum est // Pro patria mori. The words in this extract are so harsh and bitter. The word desperate implies the war is pathetic, not real glory, a pathetic glory. The patronising use of friend really shows the reader that this poem is not aimed at them but someone else. The second experiment sought to determine whether calcium entry is via L type calcium channels, therefore, verapamil (10 5 M) was used to block these channels. The tissue was then stimulated using 0.2ml of Ach (10 5 M) and K+ depolarising solution. Results When the tissue was immersed in calcium free solution and stimulated with Ach via the PMC pathway, a small contraction (1.15g) was observed compared to the baseline contraction trace (6.37g). Contraction recovered when the bathing solution was changed back to normal Krebs (5.63g). For the next stimulus, K+ depolarising solution, the baseline control produced a force of 6.17g in normal Krebs solution. In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris Opéra Ballet in a performance of Les Caractères de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed, Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and designer brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the pointe shoe style to create ballerina fashion shoes. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and contributed to a new dance aesthetic. He was a great strategist as well, the alliance he began with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and General Secretary Joseph Stalin was key for the imminent defeat of the Axis countries. The Importance Of Music In Education Music has always been and still is one of the greatest heritage that we have as a human being, that s the reasons why people called it the universal language of humankind. No matter where we are music is always there around us and that show s how important music is for us human beings. Without music, we don t have the way to express our feeling with, technically life will be dulled without any music. By saying that, we need to understand that music is one of the essential tools for children development and it also helps their brain function. Through music, children learn how to communicate their thoughts and their feelings. According to (Cecil Fizdale 1991 in The Arts and Early Childhood) state that Children s ability and need to express feelings fully and freely with their bodies makes movement and dance a vital part of any educational program. Young children love to sing, they love hearing their own voices by experimenting with different melody, tone, and rhythm. That s one of many ways younger children learn how to play. When a softer and soothing music is playing during the day, children tend to be more relaxed and quiet. Music is a primary experience for us human. This is why music should be the important subject to have in early childhood curriculum. Greata (2006) talk about the ideas of Edwin Gordon, a researcher in music education, tells us that: if a child is not stimulated in a particular area such as music, she will lose some of her natural potential in that ... Not just from Nintendo, but from all game developers. It is what we all need to expand our audience. It is what we all need to expand our imaginations. Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co. Ltd1 In the 2008 BusinessWeek Boston Consulting Group ranking of the world s most innovative companies, Nintendo Co. During the period 1970 to 1985, Nintendo began focusing on the manufacture of electronic toys and entered the budding field of video games [see Exhibit 1]. Interestingly, 1991, the year when Nintendo launched the highly popular Super NES in the US, was also the year that saw Nintendo s vision become Sony s opportunity and the creation of what could be described as Nintendo s greatest challenge for over a decade the Sony PlayStation ( PS ). Nintendo had wanted to incorporate CD ROM into their Super NES, and Sony had agreed to create the PS for this purpose. However, over the next two years, conflicts of vision between Nintendo and Sony continued, and the two finally parted ways. Nintendo went ahead with Philips technology, 4 and Sony was left with the PS, which the company decided to continue developing. Given Sony s clout and resources, when the PS and its wide range of games were finally released in Japan in 1994, the console was an instant resounding success. In 1995, Sony released the PS in the US, totally uprooting Nintendo s established name in the industry. For many years, Nintendo had been a dominant player in the video game industry. It had sold more than two billion games since 1985. Its top selling series included non violent and easyto play games such as Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda. • 32. Persuasive Speech On Life In Our Life Inhale. Exhale. Breathe. It appears that you have taken one step closer to death. Death is all around us; the air we breathe every day, hour, minute, second is crucial to our survival. However, air can be seen as a double edge sword. Air, is what is keeping us alive, for if we stopped breathing, we would die of suffocation. On the other hand, the longer we breathe, the closer we are towards death. In this sense, a burning what if question has been on my mind: what if the air we are breathing is a poison that is slowly killing us? Think about that. If this were to be true? What have you done...or plan to do that makes breathing this poisonous air worthy? Many people today waste much of their life doing useless things. They do not realize that each breath they spend on the couch or dreaming of things they could do, they are wasting their opportunity to really do something. Let me break this down for you. Life expectancy for a typically American is about 79 years or 948 months. Of those 79 years, 1/3 of the time is spent sleeping, leaving us with about 632 months. After taking into consideration factors such as eating, using the restroom, and browsing the internet, we are left with roughly 19 years to live. 19 years may seem like a lot, but that is only about 24% of your life that is actually in your hands. After finding out these surprising stats, I began to rethink my life. I looked a little closer around the community I grew up in and realized that there was a huge need within my community. I first began to get involved within my community eighth grade year through the Community Thanksgiving Meal. At first, I did not realize that all the people coming in for a meal or the places that needed a delivery was all just right within my community. As the years went by, I slowly became more and more involved. I started from only coming in on Thanksgiving Day to help to being there every step of the way. I remember volunteering to coordinate a clothing drive last year to give clothes to those in need during the Thanksgiving Meal. At the end of that Thanksgiving Day, a lady comes up to me and asks if she could grab a few extra items. The lady had on a thin coat and I immediately knew that she needed help. I ran and ... • 33. The Rights Opportunity Commission ( Eeoc ) The issue of discrimination is very widely discussed, so widely that laws and statutes have been enacted and are continually addressed every day. This may occur in a courtroom, on the legislative floor or at the employer s offices, but the fact that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) receives around 80,000 discriminatory filings annually, with 99,922 in 2010, there is little wonder the amount of attention to discrimination is warranted (Walsh, 2013). According to the EEOC s website, the discrimination claims were more than the annual averages, but less than 99,000 in 2010, at 88,788 in 2014 ( EEOC Releases Fiscal , 2015). These figures reiterate the importance and diligence in which discriminatory acts must be handled by all parties involved. The discussion for the complete section relates to an age discrimination case where a 53 year old director continually observed administration admonishing its inability to hire young staff workers, to the point the director was relieved of her duties after she claimed administration wanted her to fire older staff but she refused and once dismissed, the director was on medical leave and told to report daily, when she failed to do so, the administrators used that action as the reason for termination (Walsh, 2013). • 34. Dawn Brancati Decentralization Dawn Brancati furthered the literature around the decentralization of governments in her work, Decentralization: Fueling the Fire or Dampening the Flames of Ethnic Conflict and Secessionism?. She introduces a point that had not been explored before in academia, by showing a causal relationship between regional parties and ethnic conflict/secessionism. She displays in her work that political decentralization indirectly leads to ethnic conflict and secessionism. This is not inherent to the structure of a decentralized government, but rather inherent to the political climate that decentralization creates. This is because politically decentralized governments foster regional political parties. She shows through a statistical analysis of 30 countries, that it is the power of regional parties that ultimately increases or decreases ethnic conflict and desires for secession. Brancati begins her analysis by posing the question, what impact does a decentralized government have on ethnic conflict and secessionism? The conventional knowledge on the topic is that political decentralization is believed to reduce ethnic conflict and secessionism in the world today...by bringing the government closer to the people, increasing opportunities to participate in government, and giving groups control over their political, social, and economic affairs. The experiences I had at INA have left their mark on me and I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to complete my field experiences at the International Newcomer Academy. One aspect of INA is the ingenious teaching approaches. Effective teaching requires a multifaceted approach, this includes utilizing Jensen s seven critical factors. These factors include engagement, repetition. input quantity, coherence, timing, error correction and emotional states. Each factor is distinct in its function and implantation. There are numerous benefits to incorporating these seven critical factors into lessons such as engagement will induce focus and gain the student s attention, repetition will enable the students to preview, review, and revise the information, input quantity limits the amount of information resulting in a deeper understanding, coherence builds off the student s personal experiences and prior knowledge, timing provides for activity shifts and best suitable scheduling, error correction reinforces the lesson through quality feedback, and emotional states evokes fundamental emotions to initiate self reliance and ... • 37. The Grapes Of Wrath By Ma Joad Ma Joad: Keeping her family in line since 1939 In a time where women were considered inferior, The Grapes of Wrath uses secondary characters, specifically Ma Joad, to demonstrate a woman taking charge in a family setting, and the relationships of such a woman with others. Ma helps amplify the theme of feminism and women s rights in different scenarios. Her relationships with Pa, her daughter Rose of Sharon, and even herself all convey different elements of an extraordinary leader and an amazing mother. Ma and Pa s relationship throughout The Grapes of Wrath defies the idea of a normal couple in the era of the Dust Bowl. They are represented very much as equals through the conflicts their family has to face, contrary to other couples, where the husband is in charge. Ma takes the lead in many situations and Pa respects, and maybe even fears her opinions. Ma commandeers decision making and often causes conflicts with her strong beliefs. This passage conveys the dynamic of their relationship very early on in the book: Pa broke in, But s pose there just ain t room? He had twisted his neck to look up at her, and he was ashamed. Her tone had made him ashamed. [...] She stopped, and Pa turned back, and his spirit was raw from the whipping. Robin is the hero of the play and is an amazing character. In A Midsummer Night s Dream, there are many different choices that affect the storyline of the play. One major choice that affected the storyline is when Robin anointed Demetrius and Lysander with the juice of the flower. As a result of this happening, they both fell in love with Helena. Angry of jealousy, Hermia started to fight Helena. Another action that majorly affected the plot was the fact Oberon wanted to take the Indian boy away from Titania, so he comes up with the idea to put the flower juice on her eyelids. Without this scheme, there would be no conflict and no solution to the problem between the four lovers. Also, the fact that Robin agreed to anoint the liquid to the three characters eyelids was a crucial part of the plot. If Robin were to decline the offer, there would be no storyline.
