The document describes the process of creating the front cover and a double page spread for a magazine focused on horror video games. For the front cover, the creator added a contest for readers to win in-game posters, subtitles highlighting games like FNAF and clues to intrigue fans. For the double page spread, the creator featured main characters from FNAF: Security Breach with glowing names and bios in text boxes on a background from the game's trailer hinting at the antagonist Vanny. The process shows an effort to attract fans of the horror games through familiar imagery, fonts and details.
2. Process
The next step was adding another piece
of magazine importance which was a
plug offering something to the reader if
they complete a certain set of
instruction, what they could win is one
of the real posters from Poppy Playtime
of Huggy Wuggy reminding people to
take breaks. If any my target audience
play Poppy Playtime will become even
more invested to read on to find out
how to own a copy of in game
merchandise.
3. Process
The second to last step of my front
cover was to add the sub-titles to let
the reader know what exactly the
reader can expect. With some help
from the typing tool it could let you
know some characters from one game,
while the other can give you
information on a certain toy factory
and the last one could give you back
story of what became of a cartoon
studio. The phrases like: Fazbear Pizza,
Playtime Co and Joey Drew will
instantly strike a cord with my
audience if their familiar with those
games.
4. Process
And the finally the last step was to
add a good date that sets the
magazine at a correct time for it to
be sold, so used the typing tool to
type in a Halloween date at the top
of the barcode. That will also let
my audience know that this
magazine will only be available
until Halloween is over.
5. Process
With the front cover finished I then
moved on to the double page
spread of the magazine which is
explaining some of the characters
of Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security
Breach, so the first step to the
double page spread was to find a
suitable layout for the page to set
the scene, with a little bit of stain
remover tool on the tag on to the
bottom left. My target audience
will also notice that the
background was from the second
FNAF trailer which featured a
skipping white rabbit also know as
Vanny coming towards you
menacingly.
6. Process
The next step was to add the
main characters to the page as
the main images, the order of
characters were: Freddy, Chica,
Monty and then Roxane. With a
touch of careful placing and the
magic wand tool to get rid of any
unwanted background the
characters were added. If my
audience has been around since
2012 will notice some key faces
like Freddy and Chica who came
across all the other FNAF games
from 1 to Security Breach, so they
know they will be in for a scary
time.
7. Process
The next step was to add some
custom fonts from
fontspace.com, to fit the
characters style and personality,
while also using to special colour
tools to give the names an outer
glow to contrast from the dark
background. My audience will
also notice some the fonts are
from a kind of 80s style that
blends in with the genre of game,
so they will be even more enticed
to read the magazine.
8. Process
The next step was to add the title
and a page number, first I
acquired custom fonts for the title
and the page number, and the
style I went with to give the
impression of the 80s coming
back to life and not in the fun
way. This is to let my audience
know that with the glowing title
that this was one of the important
pages.
9. Process
The final step was to add detailed
descriptions of the characters from
the game, using the shape tool I
drew some rectangle to act as text
box for the character bios, then
typed out the character bios in the
colours of the assorted characters
while using different fonts describe
them in different views. Some of
my audience will still notice Vanny
in the background, that shows this
magazine is still sticking to the core
part of five nights at Freddy's
Mystery.
