2. Process
I started by getting a neon themed cyber-
punk scene set in Tokyo which I made sure
was free to use, at the start when I found this
image I had a particular idea in my head and
when I found this image to use as a base I
knew it could work in my favour as it was
identical to what I had pictured in my mind.
3. Process
I added a PS5 png to create the image of
a game cover, this was a much needed
part of my game design as it obviously
needs to be playable on a certain
platform so I went with the next
generation console to make it more
relevant due to the fact the PS5 has only
just been released which would
hopefully promote sales as people will
be eager to try new games on the
newest consoles.
4. Process
I then polished it up a bit by adding a side on
the left and softening the corners with the
eraser. Doing this to my game cover was
essential due to the fact you would not see a
newly released game on the newest console
with pixilated corners and edges so I had to
sharpen it up to get it to an appropriate selling
standard making it look more professional,
looking back at the left side of the case I could
have turned the opacity up a little more as you
can see a few checkers from the blank
background peaking through.
5. Process
I then added a Pegi 18 logo using a PNG I
found online then I used the lasso tool and
sharpened up the edges. I used the Pegi 18
logo because of the games graphic nature and
use of gambling and mature language. This
was another necessity due to the games
mature nature it needed a pegi age
certification or it wouldn’t make it onto the
shelves. This also works towards my target
audience of young adults as when they see
this they’ll know it is the right age grouping
and may stand out more than a game rated
7+.
6. Process
I then added the title and the same
beneath it in Japanese as its set in
Tokyo to do this I wrote it in English
first then added a stroke, a short
drop shadow and some colours in
the text I then translated it to
Japanese so the audience get more
of a nudge that the game is set in
Japan. Adding a title to your game
cover is standard as people need to
know the name of your game but by
adding it in Japanese below will
hopefully give fans a chance to read
into it a little more than just a
standard title and they’ll be able to
work out where it may be set.
