Proposal for factual writing

What am I producing?
I am producing a factual writing piece on the 3DS XL. It will most likely be in the format of a leaflet using the three
columns with 2 thinner ones on the outside then having a thicker one in the middle. I will use the first column to do an
introduction on the history of the 3DS XL. I will include the first module of the DS and then the newest model. I will
include a brief insight of nintendo just so people can get a little bit of background information on the company. I will
add some of my own images that I can take. The booklet will have insightful information about the 3DS games and the
console itself. I will find some custom fonts to make the text look intriguing.
Why am I producing it?
I have chosen to do my factual writing on the 3DS because it is easy for me to get the images for the 3DS XL. I have
chosen to do this because I own a 3DS so it would be easy to take images of the console and some of the games for
the console. I have enough from the product to take enough images to fill up the booklet with. I have a personal bond
with the DS consoles because when I was younger my first few consoles was a PS2, Gameboy and a DS. I also have a
giant interest in the nintendo exclusive games like Mario and Pokemon. I have Pokemon so I can take an images of the
game also my brother has more games I can take images off.
Any existing examples you can draw
inspiration from?
As I am writing this I don’t know much of any more leaflets which is going for the same idea that I am. There are lots of
videos on youtube that give information on the DS which I will be including in the research log/file for the unit. There
are some gaming magazine with information on some of the games that are going to be released soon so I can put
that down in the research log as well. Most of the information is coming from what I know about the console and
games but I will have to conduct some research to complete the research file. I will be looking at Web pages, Videos
and magazines.
What is the intended target audience
The intended target audience for my leaflet will mainly be between the ages of 8-16 stereotypically speaking because
anybody of any age can like nintendo that will be the main age range. For socio-economic range I will have to say
people in E, C2-A the reason I have given E is because there are plenty of students who play nintendo consoles,
Whereas you need to have money to buy the console and then go on and buy games and accessories for the console.
That is why I also included the higher worker classed range. There will be certain psychographs for this age range it will
pretty much be everyone who like handheld consoles or wants to learn more about the console.
How you will interpolate the intended audience?
I will introduce or help bring in the intended audience in my leaflet just by appealing to their hobbies. If they like playing
on the 3DS then hopefully the topic of the leaflet will bring them in to read the leaflet. If people tend to enjoy handheld
consoles they might want to do some research before buying on of the many consoles that are available to be bought.
My leaflet will also appeal to target audience because there will be bright colours and big text that will attract kids
because I will use the bright colours like red and yellow this will catch people's eyes and make them read the front
cover.
