This paper discusses improving the accessibility of content management system (CMS) widgets by applying WAI-ARIA. It analyzes the accessibility of Drupal, Joomla, and WordPress and identifies WordPress as the most widget-oriented. The paper presents a methodology for developing accessible CMS plugins and provides a case study applying this to the WordPress calendar widget using the Dojo calendar widget. It concludes ongoing work is needed to improve CMS accessibility using tools like MooTools, jQuery, and Fluid Infusion widgets.
