Chimpanzees live in forests and woodlands in Africa north of the Congo River. They are covered in long black hair and can grow to be 4 to 5 feet long. Chimpanzees cling to their mothers until age 2 and have similar hands and feet to humans, which helps them climb trees. They eat a variety of foods including fruit, leaves, seeds, bark, flowers, bugs, and eggs. Chimpanzees are more closely related to humans than monkeys and their habitat is shrinking each year due to deforestation.
