Red foxes inhabit diverse habitats around the world including forests, mountains, deserts, grasslands, farms, and suburban areas. They can adapt to many environments and eat a varied diet of small mammals, birds, fish, frogs, fruits, vegetables, and worms. Red foxes typically weigh 10-14 pounds, though the young kits are born brown or gray and develop their red coat after the first month. Both male and female parents care for the kits before they can survive on their own.
