The muted, or otherwise ‘tainted’
look of the colours represents the
themes of the game itself, and
work together to create a shadowy
aesthetic indicative of the mood.
I chose these fonts to add a more ‘classical’ or ‘civilised’ feel to the game’s design,
offsetting the twisted nature of the game’s other elements. By selecting a variety
of fonts that meet such criteria, they can be used interchangeably for a number of
different situations, depending on the current mood or plot developments.
These two elements work well to create a conflicting convergence,
merging ‘wrong’ colours and a ‘refined’ text to highlight their differences,
and make the combined aesthetics stand out to the audience. This
prevents any one aspect of the design from becoming overtly dominant
over the other, and manages to maintain the character of both
components.
Layout 1
This layout represents what kind of
style the game should have
structurally. This means that the type
of design I want is based around the
concept of small-town isolation,
characterised by a close-knit
community of few secrets with a
somewhat hostile attitude to outsiders.
These types of communities are
commonly set in their ways, and their
resistance to change or foreign
concepts is often one of the main
reasons for conflict. This kind of setting
is perfect for fostering paranoia and
confusion, the comforting stability
being overturned by an unexpected
disruption. The way that the colours in
the scene go through multiple different
shades as the environment progresses
is a very desirable quality.
Layout 2
This is what I want the product to look
like stylistically, having a hand-drawn
feel to it’s design. Additionally, this
picture displays the muted colour
palette that I desire for the posters
themselves, as well as a haunting
aesthetic that places emphasis on
lighting and shadow. Another notable
quality is how everything is ‘imperfect’
and creates a naturalistic environment
by having nothing be perfectly
symmetrical. The way the lighting is
used to increase and decrease the
values of the environment works
realistically on the depicted materials,
skilfully crafting a believable world. The
colours I have selected for the aesthetic
of the project would work well with the
hand-drawn style to add an ‘off-kilter’
aspect to the design.

Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
No computers are available at the college
during free periods.
Use the software on the home computer to
complete the product, or otherwise reserve a
computer in advance.
Data is corrupted or lost due to a system
malfunction.
ALWAYS save at a regular pace so that nothing
is damaged during the production phase.
There is a lack of supplies that are needed to
create the product.
Check that there is an appropriate amount of
supplies before starting production.
Not completing work up to the deadline. Making sure to do work outside of college.
Loss of the USB stick, where all of my data is
saved.
Save in multiple places, e-mail my work to my
own account.
Potential font unavailability. Download font to USB, install onto computer.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
The computer is damaged due to exposure to
liquids, such as water.
Keep all liquids far away from the computer,
preferably within some form of containment.
Sudden illness, like colds and fevers that
disrupt production.
Do your best to avoid getting sick, like staying
warm, maintaining hygiene, and being
conscious of potentially harmful conditions.
Unforeseen injury serious enough to stall
production.
Make sure to avoid any situations that could
result in harm.
Trip hazards. Remove all potential hazards, such as wires,
cables and bags from the immediate area.
Electric shock. Keep away from any exposed sockets or wires
that could result in electrocution.
Fire hazards. Carefully move away if the computer begins to
over-heat, try to take breaks so that it doesn’t
reach that stage, allowing the computer to cool.

I chose these fonts to add a more ‘classical’ or ‘civilised’ feel to the game’s design, offsetting the twisted nature of the game’s other elements. By selecting a variety of fonts that meet such criteria, they can be used interchangeably for a number of different situations, depending on the current mood or plot developments. These two elements work well to create a conflicting convergence, merging ‘wrong’ colours and a ‘refined’ text to highlight their differences, and make the combined aesthetics stand out to the audience. This prevents any one aspect of the design from becoming overtly dominant over the other, and manages to maintain the character of both components.
