Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis
We read with great interest the paper by Richard van Valen and his colleagues that evaluated patients
with prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) due to opportunistic bacterial pathogen Propionibacterium
acnes (P. acnes). The authors should be congratulated for publishing the largest single centre series to
date on the topic, as thus far the literature was dominated by single case reports. We would like to add
some thoughts on the microbiological aspects of PVE caused by this facultative anaerobic species.
Diagnosis of PVE caused by this microorganism is often delayed due to oligosymptomatic and
nonspecific presentation, hence microbiological confirmation is pivotal for adjusting treatment.
Unfortunately, aside for establishing positivity of blood and/or tissue cultures, there is no further
elaboration on the microbiological techniques employed to diagnose P. acnes in this study, probably
due to its retrospective design. It would also be interesting to know the incidence of neurologic
symptoms in this case series of 13 patients, as these are more commonly observed in P. acnes PVE
than in any other type of infective endocarditis (x). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

reaction (PCR) with an an electrospray ionization mass spectrometry can be applied to heart valves

issues of implementing such technology in the diagnostic

Essay The Cycle of Vengeance in Aeschylus’s Oresteia
The Cycle of Vengeance in Aeschylus s Oresteia
The cyclic thread of vengeance runs like wild fire through the three plays in Aeschylus s Oresteia.
This thread, with its complexity of contemporary and universal implications lends itself quite well to
in fact, almost necessitates deeply interested study. While a brief summary of the Oresteia will
inevitably disregard some if not much of the trilogy s essence and intent, on the positive side it will
establish a platform of characters, events, and motives with which this paper is primarily concerned.
As such, I begin with a short overview of the Oresteia and the relevant history that immediately
precedes it.
The house of Atreus is cursed, it would seem, with the perpetual cycle ... Show more content on

Now joined together (amorously) by a common hatred for Agamemnon, Clytemnestra (Agamemnon s
wife) and Aegisthus plot and execute the death of Agamemnon. As John H. Finley, Jr. has rightly put
it, Both Agamemnon and Aegisthus perpetuate their father s infections Agamemnon by the slaughter
of innocents and Aegisthus by the adultery with Clytemnestra (Pindar 258). The Libation Bearers
speaks of the remaining children of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, Orestes and Electra, who (with
some urging from Apollo) avenge the death of their father by killing both Aegisthus and their own
mother. The Furies, enraged by Orestes violation of the filial bond, pursue his punishment. The
Eumenides covers the taming of the Furies, the reconciliation of the dominant opposing forces in the
trilogy, the establishment of Athena s court of law, and, as J. J. Pollitt argues, brings us out of the
earlier dark irrationality into what seems an enlightened world of order and reason (30). Each of these
acts, excepting the first and the last, is both a consequence and a cause: every individual involved
sought to avenge the horrid act of an offender each seemingly sought justice by way of retribution. By
identifying only a single reason or cause each for the vengeful acts outlined above, it is easy to
generalize this chain of events into cyclic manifestation of the age old law an eye for an eye. Much is
lost in this simplification of the story; the

Network Security And Security
It is important for ABC Corporation to bring the network up to current security standards. Attempts to
breach networks are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to defend against, as more powerful
hardware is introduced and new security defenses become available leaving older measures unreliable.
Aging networks that are improperly secured are more at risk than ever. It is not only important to
ensure you have the proper defense at the perimeter but also internally on wired and wireless
infrastructure. When considering network security controls, acceptable risk is often considered but
needs to be minimized to provide the smallest attack surface for an attacker to exploit.

ABC Corporation has determined that a central authentication method that supports certificate
exchange and integrates with an Active directory environment best suits the company s needs.
According to InfoSec, By definition 802.1x is an IEEE standard for port based authentication which
was originally designed for wired network authentication and later leveraged to provide the same
services to wireless. It is typically only implemented in large networks such as campus or enterprise
networks.
Implementing Radius as a security solution provides Ease of Management, Ease of Use, Support,
Scalability and Security for the network and IT staff. Radius will allow for the use of Certificate
sharing between devices that can be pushed out through Active directory and Group Policy. These
policies and certificates can make the authentication process easier for the end user with automatic
authentication or the ability to use the same credentials that are used in other systems and can be
controlled on a per user basis. These same group policies will allow you to assign users to different
networks based on roles within the company also known as Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
further securing the network. (https://www.securedgenetworks.com/blog/Why 802 1x is the Best

wireless authentications methods greatly reduces risk. In an article publish by ZDnet in

Summary Of The Death Of Honesty By William Damon
Introduction
The article under analysis is entitled The Death of Honesty and is written by William Damon in 2012.
In general, in his article, he describes the problem of deception in today s world and compares it with
the past. He also uses many expressive means and rhetorical devices in order to support his idea. His
main idea is that the biggest problem today is not that people are frequently lying because, as he says,
it is in human nature to lie, and it is not always bad, but that truthfulness is becoming less important as
it was before (Damon). Therefore, he fears that if his idea is true, the bonds of trust that are vital for
creating a free democratic society are in danger, which will inevitably lead to the situation where
building good relationships between people is impossible, and the civilized society will collapse.
Summary of the Article
At the beginning of the article, Damon describes the notion of deception and truth. He claims that
deception is not always bad, but, moreover, it can be better than truth in certain cases and provides
examples of such cases. Then he claims that telling lies is in human nature and that people have
always been lying throughout their entire history. However, he expresses his concern toward the
current tendency of making truth insignificant (Damon). In this respect, he says that despite people
have always lied, the being honest was considered honorable, and this virtue had a high value among
people. Now, in his opinion, this honor has disappeared.
In the body of the article, the author depicts his fears that if being honest is no longer valued, the
future society will collapse and give way to chaos and anarchy. Then he states that this tendency is
observed even in those places where truth must be the priority, for example, educational institutions.
Here he provides many examples of scandals that occurred in different schools regarding the students
who were cheating and teachers who abetted them in doing it. Understandably, most students want to
cheat, especially those who despise studying and learning. However, the motivation of teachers can be
different and unusual. For example, some teachers do not punish students for teaching because they
think that by helping each

The first stage is exploring the ordinary world. The first stage consists of meeting the character and

The Prevalence Of Homelessness And Homelessness
The Prevalence of Homelessness
In this textual analysis, I m going to discuss the prevalence of homelessness in the United States. I ll
be using three songs from popular culture that focus on homelessness. Different artists perform these
three songs: Avril Lavigne, Bob Dylan, and Nirvana. I m going to address the values that people who
are homeless may have, according to what each artist conveys through their song lyrics. Throughout
the lyrics in each song, it seems like the artists are attempting to communicate to the public that
homelessness is a serious issue that nobody is immune to. The values that I have gathered are bravery,
hope, and perseverance.
I have chosen this topic because over half a million people are homeless, the government has limited
resources to help those who are homeless, and some cities are making homelessness illegal. This topic
is important to me because nobody is immune to homelessness, which is terrifying and unfortunate.
This topic should be important to others because homelessness is a serious problem and it seems like
we tend to treat people who are homeless like they re not human beings.
Some people think that if a person who s homeless wants to truly change their situation, they would
simply get a job. There s clothing assistance available for people who are homeless; having access to a
resource like this can help people who are homeless by providing them with appropriate clothing for
job interviews. Approximately 44% of people who are

Improving Blood Circulation Research Paper
elthammyo.com.au Myotherapy for Improved Blood Circulation
Myotherapy is a combination of massage and other techniques that relaxes and heals the body in a
number of different ways, including increasing blood circulation. The myotherapist analyses each
patient before taking action to ensure that he or she works on the specific trigger points that will
alleviate the patient s tension, pain or other issue. At times, patients have an injury that requires
attention to speed healing in the area in order the patients to be able to return their normal lives. Our
topic today is on the fact that you can rely on myotherapy for improved blood circulation.
How Myotherapy Increases Blood Flow
As the myotherapist massages the necessary trigger points, the muscles release their tension, and this
in turn relaxes the veins and arteries that transport the blood to and from the heart and other parts of
the body. The therapist is then able to move the blood through the area with his or her ... Show more

The Islamic Diffusion Of India
INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH
In the 600s, Arab traders were in contact with India. They would regularly go to the west coast of
India to trade different goods, like African goods, spices, and gold. As the Arabs began to convert to
Islam, the religion carried to the coast of India. The first mosque in India was built in 629, it is called
the Cheraman Juma Masjid. The mosque was made in the Indian state Kerala. Islam continued to
spread into Indian cities, by immigration and conversion, as the Arab Muslims and the Indians
continued trading.
DIFFUSION
Islamic diffusion in India happened through both Relocation and Expansion.
India was first introduced to Islam in the 600 s when Arab traders regularly sailed to
the west coast of India to trade goods like spices and gold. At this time the Arabs had begun to convert
to Islam. When they came to the shores of India, they brought their new Islam religion with them. The
first mosque in India was built in 629. Islam continued to spread in coastal Indian towns and cities
through this immigration and relocation. However, most Indians stayed with their own religion and
there was not a massive immigration of Muslims from other areas.
Islam also has diffused through Expansion. The greatest Expansion of Islam in India first occurred in
711. Seventeen year old Muhammad bin Qasim was appointed to lead his army of 6,000 soldiers to
the far eastern side of Persia, Makran. As he made his way into India there was little

Analysis Of The Price Of Beauty Essay
Angelica Alvarado Professor Stacey English 103 September 14, 2016 The Price of Beauty There s an
ongoing, almost always unsaid joke, that women have one million emotions within a twenty four hour
period, which is completely opposite from that of a man s day. But has anyone really taken the time to
look at what goes into being a woman? It goes without saying that if a woman doesn t know how to
contour, or highlight her face, other women will talk down to her and about her when she leaves; men

assumption that these women are simple or easily amused . She must not have a lot of money. Poor
thing. With so many pressures and expectations a woman has to meet on a day to day basis, can this

Figurative Language In The Jungle By Richard Connell
Richard Connell uses figurative language in the story to add richness and spark by using metaphors
and similes. Part of the American Culture is slang which is metaphors and similes. It s just how we
talk and communicate. Even in a story with a scary, mysterious type of mood we can still have slang. I
will explain some of the metaphors and similes throughout the story and how they add the richness the
story s needs. When Richard Connell quotes trying to peer through the dank tropical night that was
palpable as it pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht. , he uses the key phrases such as
pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht . This key phrase is showing a detailed way to say
that it was getting dark and into the night. But instead of being unimaginative and dull, Connell

The Process Of Meiosis And Mitosis
In order to better understand the process of meiosis and mitosis, students observed different types of
asci. The arrangement of spores was associated to whether crossing over occurred during meiosis 1.
We tried observing asci, from the mating plate that we did last lab, with a light microscope. However,
the class was unsuccessful and were told to look for images of asci on google images and use these
observations as our data. The observations obtained from google images, showed that 27 observations
were made for asci of type 4:4, 19 for asci type 2:2:2:2 and 14 for asci of type 2:4:2 (Table IB 1). With
these observations, we determined the map distance which was 27.5 map units (Figure 5.4). Since asci
of type 4:4 were observed more, crossing over occurred less, thus producing less asci with different
arrangements. Sordaria also undergo mitosis because the end result of meiosis are four haploid cells
and haploid cells cannot divide by meiosis. Lastly, since more asci with type 4:4 were observed, the
hypothesis was supported more black ascus were also observed which supported the second
hypothesis. Although students were not successful in observing asci during the lab, students were still
able to understand the importance of meiosis and relate it to real life issues. INTRODUCTION

Athletes Suffering from Knee Injuries are Opting for Cold Laser Therapy over Knee Surgery
By Juliet Peters
Aug 22, 2011
A knee injury can be a painful and debilitating setback for anyone, however for athletes experiencing
knee problems it can be a deal breaker that threatens to take them out the game. This is why many
professional athletes are opting to treat their knee injuries with cold laser therapy rather than go
through traditional knee surgery. Unfortunately, the athletes who rely on their knees the most are also
the ones who are prone to knee injuries. Knee damage is extremely common in many sports,
especially long distance running, competitive cycling, basketball, tennis, volleyball, skiing and weight

This is why today s athletes are turning to cold laser therapy to treat knee injuries rather than undergo
knee surgery. They realize arthroscopic knee surgery is invasive and doesn t work most of the time,
and often leaves athletes dealing with the effects of less cartilage, and more arthritis in the knee. In
addition, knee replacements for young athletes aren t really an option because they typically should
only be performed on patients sixty five and older due to the lifespan of the prosthetic. Another reason
athletes make the decision to have cold laser therapy over knee surgery is the fact that there is a long
period of downtime after the surgery that would take them away from training for their sport. Cold
laser therapy or low level laser therapy is an approved method of treatment by the U.S Food and Drug
Administration, and it is primarily used to relieve pain and the debilitating inflammation resulting
from tendonitis, arthritis or a torn meniscus. It also helps speed up the healing process so that athletes
can get back to their sport quicker. Cold laser therapy is the number one choice among athletes to
rehabilitate knee injuries because this noninvasive treatment provides them with safe, livable solutions
for pain relief and allows them to get back to doing what they love without any

Essay about Biography of Robert Frost
Biography of Robert Frost
Robert Frost is perhaps one of America s best poets of his generation. His vivid images of nature
capture the minds of readers. His poems appear to be simple, but if you look into them there is a lot of
insight. Robert Frost spoke at John F. Kennedy s inauguration. He is the only poet to have had the
opportunity to speak at a presidential inauguration. Through his poetry people learn that Robert Frost
is a complicated and intellectual man who has a place in many American hearts. (Richards P.10) In
order to understand where Robert Frost is coming from in his poetry it is important to learn about the
experiences in his life. Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 in San Francisco. His father was

While he is in England he writes many poems such as, Choose Greatly and Nothing but what we
somehow choose. These poems reflect greatly upon choosing what you want. Perhaps Frost does not
choose to go to England but I m sure he was glad that he goes. (Pritchard P.8) Once Frost and his
family went to England they situate themselves in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. This is the place
near where Milton finished Paradise Lost . It is a very nice place where Frost could concentrate on his
poetry. One of Frost s first poems he wrote in England was called In England. Alone in rain I sat today
On top of a gate beside the way, And a bird came near with muted bill And a watery breeze kept
blowing chill From over the hill behind me.
I could not tell what in me stirred To hill and gate and rain and bird, Till lifting hair and bathing brow
The watery breeze came fresher now From over the hill to remind me. This poem never had a chance
to be published during Frost s life. The poem is pretty self explanatory. To me it is obvious that it is
written while he is in England. The mention of rain and watery breezes give it away because England
is surrounded by water. I believe that Frost knew that he could make his career work in England. The
line The watery breeze came fresher now From over the hill to remind me makes me think that
England would give him new inspiration. Everything he did in

Wisdom, passion and dedication are the necessity traits to have when writing a good book in order to
provide the reader with an experience to want more; to want to know more, read more and look into
detail beyond the words written on the page. Jonathan Kozol provided just that and then some. Kozol
took real life occurrences from some previous years and wrapped them into a well detailed layout of
the struggles and occurrences that poor minority children once faced when trying to obtain an
education giving the nation a real wake up call. Although segregation was thought to have come and
went, it was still occurring, dismantling the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling that had taken place
within the previous years. The criminal justice system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kozol pointed out that it is hard to convince young people that they can learn and can become
educated within their early years when they are continuously cordoned off by society that isn t sure
they really can (p. 37). Sadly, they could have excelled but they often weren t provided with the
opportunity. Within the next chapters, chapters 2 and 3, I began to really take into consideration Kozol
s way of writing and point of views. The voices were coming to life and it was nearly as if I was there
in that classroom watching this degrading event occur. Chapter 2 began the illustration of how corrupt
the education system really was in that particular day and age (some odd 40 50 years ago and
continues today). Although all children should serve as equals, they were not and do not. It was
merely a totem pole of color, whites being on top and colored falling below and usually falling behind.
He compares the inner city schools portraying the characteristics that a totalitarian government was
then present and the funding for education was very scarce and limited regardless of the how well the
economy was doing. The iteration of how poorly the children were focused on was also present and
the point was once noted within the reading that the expressiveness of children was often muted (p.

Carnival Liberty
It was the most breathtaking, amazing, experience I ve ever witnessed in my life time so far. It was
2:00 am cold Saturday morning on January 2nd, and we were on a bus heading to Chicago airport. I
was going on a Carnival Cruise for 7 days with my boyfriend s family.
On the way to the Chicago airport we all took a huge bus with rows of bench seats that picked us up
from Dubuque then took us to the airport. I tried to sleep on the way there but I was just too excited to
be on this vacation. The bus ride took around 4 hours and we had to stop at least three times. The first
time was because the bus was overheating, the second time was for a bathroom break and the last time
was because the bus was overheating again. I thought we were not going to make it to Chicago with
the bus overheating but we did. We all piled out of the bus excited to stretch our legs and happy we
finally made it.
We all entered the airport with our heavy luggage and tired bodies. After we all got situated we had to
go through security and bag check. I realized I remember why I hated airports because of the lines we
had to wait in and the various amounts of families running around like a chicken with their head cut
off. As we got through all the long lines of people we waited at our terminal for our flight time to
board. Finally it was time to board our plane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Wrath of Achilles is a poem written at the time of the Trojan War. The poem tells what happened
during the Trojan war. It also emphasizes on the quarrel between the Achilles and, Agamemnon due to

Mere Christianity, if you are looking to read a christian book and trying to get closer in your walk with
the Lord, is a great book to do so. It helps people go through life and see how they should react and

Relationship Between The Church And The State
The relationship between the Church and the State is a controversial topic that sparks great political
discourse. Since the period of the Great Reformation in Europe to the contemporary religious and
political establishments, suspicion and dishonesty continue to define the relationship between the
Church and political leadership in the society. On one hand, the Church maintains its moral duty: to
oppose and stand against any form of excessive use of political power, to cause suffering and create
inequality in the society. On the other hand, the State accuses the Church of moral high headedness
and accuses it of using its position and influence in the society to breed disloyalty in the masses
towards their political leaders. These scenarios ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the priests seem to suggest that it is better to suffer and die quietly than to be caught up in a
feud with the King, I fear for the Archbishop, I fear for the Church (Eliot 17). Indeed, the return of
Archbishop Thomas Becket signifies the resurrection of political upheaval and enmity between these
two sides of leadership, and the priests become apprehensive of Beckets return (Cedars). The play is
evident of central themes that reveal the political thinking of T.S. Eliot. The play seamlessly connects
the past with the present revealing the religious act of ritual worship and prayer. Further, the play is
the story of one man s struggle through life confronting personal pride and self will towards spiritual
purity. Indeed, Eliot uses a systematic display of three entities to demonstrate the intricacies of the
present discourse. Further, these themes are a reflection of Eliot s political thinking. First, in the first
part of the play, Eliot reveals the spiritual struggles and internal forces confronting Thomas Becket
and how he overcomes these forces as seen in the Christmas Day sermon (Butcher). Secondly, the
murder of the archbishop takes place in the second part of the play and Eliot shows its meaning and
effects on the folks of Canterbury (Butcher). Lastly, the end of the play shows the knights and the
audience and the political justifications of Archbishop s murder or death.

Madness And Madness In William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
During every era of literature, madness is used as a device to help move the plot along, whether it is in

Examples Of Bilbo Transformation In The Hobbit

reward. This is why the dwarves brought him on an adventure to find treasure and claim back the
Dwarves kingdom from the evil dragon Smaug. During the journey, Bilbo was shown as a soft and
humble character that turns into a character full of courage and adventure. In this essay, I will prove
that Bilbo has changed and developed into a brave and wise hobbit and at points he was also a trusted
leader. The first piece of evidence in the book is in the Chapter, Riddles in the Dark. In that chapter
Bilbo is lost in a cave and finds a ring that will later be shown as a ring of magic. But before he finds
out that it is magic, he finds Gollum who challenges Bilbo into a game of riddles, and if Gollum wins
he gets to eat Bilbo, but if Bilbo wins Gollum has to show him the way out. Bilbo who eventually
wins demands the way out of the cave. But, Gollum who takes the loss bitterly, goes back to his island

Essay On The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
August 6, 1945 was the day that hit Japan hard and also helped stop the Second World War. That was
the day that Harry S. Truman decided the only way to stop the war was to drop the first atomic bomb
on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in attempt to get Japan to surrender. The bomb went down in history as
one of the biggest bombings. The bombings in both cities affected many Japanese citizens, mentally
and physically. The bombings didn t only affect citizens in Japan, both others who wondered if
bombing the two cities was the right thing to do. Even to this day, there is debate on whether Japan
would have surrendered without the bombings, or if the bombings made them surrender.
In May 1945, Germany had surrendered and the only countries fighting was America and Japan.
America wanted an unconditional surrender, and Japan was not wanting to give in to that. Harry S.
Truman, the president at the time, had the tough decision of whether to bomb the Japanese cities of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki or not. If he bombed them, they would have no choice, but to surrender, yet it
would injure thousands of citizens. Truman had decided to do it. On the 6th day in August, the ...

Writing Assignment 3: Eyes in flies: An overview of the cinnabar gene and its relation to Huntington s
disease
Introduction
The common fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is often regarded as the model organism for genetic
testing due to many factors such as its short reproductive cycle, its similarities to humans, or the ease
of tracking mutations in Drosophila melanogaster. The Drosophila melanogaster is used to model
diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, and Huntington s Disease. By studying the changes in how the
proteins interact, the origin of such disease can be found providing a deeper understanding of how to
cure these fatal ailments.
Since Drosophila melanogaster is 70% similar to the human genome mutation in humans can easily be
replicated in the flies. Due to their short lifespan, the Drosophila melanogaster allow for the
progression of the mutations to occur rapidly and allow tracing of the mutation into subsequent
generations. Drosophila melanogaster generally has a phenotypic change associated with mutated
genes that control the coding of certain proteins.
A mutation in the cinnabar gene, which causes the ocelli to become colorless and the eyes to become a
bright red color, was originally discovered by Roy Clausen, a professor at the University of California
in 1918. The cinnabar gene is a protein coder gene which controls how the

Dido s Common Use Of Love In Aeneid
There are two integral pieces of love in Virgil s epic Aeneid: the romantic, lustful love (as felt by Dido
for Aeneas) and the grounded, honest, family love (as felt between Aeneas and Anchises). There is a
dynamic relationship between the two sides of love which causes each to emphasize the other – an
emphasis that is facilitated by Virgil s common use of fire and flame imagery to describe both types of
love.
Upon analyzing the lustful episode between Dido and Aeneas and the image of Aeneas fleeing troy
bearing his father, Anchises, on his back and holding his sons hand (beautifully sculpted by Bernini,
see attached), it becomes clear that the love in each situation is very different, despite the common use

/ The inward fire eats the soft marrow away (IV. 92 93)
Here, the inward fire most likely refers to Dido s longing desire, as bestowed in her by Cupid, to
pursue Aeneas. However, because their love will be consummated sexually, this desire could literally
be a sense of physical arousal.
As Aeneas tells Dido of his destiny to sail for Italy not of [his] own free will, (IV.499) he begs Dido to
release him from the pain that their love causes.
So please, no more / Of these appeals that set us both afire.
(IV.497 498)
Literally, he begs for it to end. He begs for the fire to be put out and the romantic, lustful love to cease.
As Aeneas leaves, Dido is overcome with a maddened fire.
From far away I shall come after you / With my black fires, and when cold death has parted / Body
from soul I shall be everywhere / A shade to haunt you! (IV.533 536)
Dido is now consumed by her own inward fire and it causes her to pledge to haunt Aeneas with black
fire, a sign of pure evil. She vows that Aeneas will pay for this, (IV.536). Noting the transformation
from the use of inward fire as a medium for desire to a more hysterical, crazed type of passion is
essential in understanding the ultimate failure of romantic and lustful love in the Aeneid.
Finally, as Dido unleashes her own inward fire all

impacts of membership on Britain itself. From both these debates and party policies, it is clear to see
that whilst there is generally a consensus over Europe, some issues have been a cause of disagreement
among the major parties. In this essay I will analyse the policies and actions of the major UK parties
that concern the EU and be able to conclude to what extent they agree over Europe. The most obvious
example of agreement between the three major UK parties is that they all favour UK membership of
the EU, and none of them have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Conservatives, on the other hand, have been against joining the Eurozone ever since negotiating
an opt out from the part of the Maastricht Treaty that would have required the UK to adopt the euro.
They remain against the joining the euro, with David Cameron saying in his recent speech on Europe
that Britain is not in the single currency, and we re not going to be . One common criticism of the EU
by all three major parties has been the lack of democracy within the EU institutions. Even the pro
European Liberal Democrats have said that the certain parts of the EU need to be reformed. One of the
main reforms supported by the major parties is the reform of the EU budget to get better value for
money, as they believe that the UK pays too much into the budget and does not get as much out of it
as it pays in. A policy that the all parties wish to reform is the Common Agricultural Policy. The CAP
takes up 32% of the EU s budget, but only supports a small minority of EU businesses. They believe
that the CAP makes food more expensive in the EU than it needs to be, and that it increases poverty in
poor countries by competing unfairly with local farmers. The major parties also support reform of the
Common Fisheries Policy, with all three voting in favour of reform of the CFP in the European
Parliament in February 2013. The Liberal Democrats and

Three Presidential Elections
Presidential elections have and continue to be a time where Americans begin to pay attention to
politics a little more in depth, they look into the issues which burden America, and then decide which
candidate, in their views would fix and continue to grow the policies and programs which are working
to America s advantage. Presidential elections have and will continue to grow and change, but the past
three presidential elections have seen many changes and have been very different just in the course of
12 years. Although a lot has changed there are some major things that have dramatically changed just
from election to election such as, campaign strategy and spending, battleground states or states which

also public services such as Medicare, Medicaid and social security. So as you can see issues

Similarities And Differences Between Jesus And The Quran...
Jesus in Islam Most Christians are well acquainted with the identity of Jesus as presented in the
biblical canonical Gospels. However, most are not well versed in the Jesus presented in Islam.
Contemporary Christian understanding of Jesus, his miracles, and his identity as a prophet has been
most often mutually exclusive from that of the contemporary Islamic community. It is well established
that there are many points of dissimilarity between the character representations of Jesus. Yet, there
are also notable similarities. Jesus s miracles are discussed in both texts with varied stressed
importance and purposes. With both traditions established in their respective religions, it is interesting
to engage the concept that these pictures of Jesus could not be mutually exclusive. Examination of the
Christology and miracles of Jesus in the Quran and Hadith allows contemporary Christian readers to
view Jesus through a broader, historical lens. In Images of Jesus Christ in Islam, Oddbjorn Leirvik
warns the reader that one can easily read the Quran with a Christian bias, ignoring historical context
(28). Examining the similarities and differences in the Christologies presented in the Bible and the
Quran can easily garner such biases. Leirvik brings several issues forth that add perspective to
examining the Muslim Jesus in comparison to the Christian Jesus. It is indisputable that each religious
tradition is in support and full belief of its own message. Both Christianity and

Juror Eight In Twelve Angry Men By Reginald Rose
Picture a room with a large table in the center. There is a door, but it is locked. Filling up all the twelve
seats around the table, there are twelve men: jurors debating the murder of a man living near the el
tracks. The man s son is his alleged killer, but one juror is not convinced. This image is from Twelve
Angry Men, a play written by Reginald Rose. The Eighth Juror is being fair to the child, explaining
how there are many what if s in the situation. Juror Eight brings up many different pieces of evidence
and logic to try to understand both sides of the case. He also wants the other jurors to see each side
because he wants a fair trial. So, Juror Eight plays a very important part in this play. Juror Eight began
the story by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of getting angry at the Sixth Juror immediately and saying hurtful things back, he continued
with his argument politely. In summary, Juror Eight reveals many traits and characteristics of himself
and these characteristics and his actions impact the story greatly. When the Eighth Juror tried to open
the discussion and give the boy a fair trial, he created the whole story. The entire play would not have
even occurred if not for the Eighth Juror. At the start, all of the jurors wanted to go home. Several even
talk about how they want to get this over with (Rose 7). So, all jurors were willing to vote as quickly
as possible even if it meant that the defendant may not get the fairest hearing. But, the eighth was not
willing to allow this because he wanted a fair trial. So, without the Eighth Juror, would there even be a
story to tell? Most would think not. Juror Eight says many things that make the rest of the jury think a
lot about. For instance, he states, It s not easy to identify a voice (Rose 32). By bringing up this valid
reasoning, he added to the story and gave the boy a fair chance by questioning whether the story of
everybody involved in the case is definitely true. Furthermore, if the Eighth Juror had not promoted
the discussion of this boy s case, everyone would have voted guilty beyond reasonable doubt. But,
there was reasonable doubt from Juror Eight, as

The United States 1932 Election Essay
The United States 1932 Election Many historians believe that the 1932 election was a popularity
competition, with the prize being the chief of the white house. This is because they thought that
Hoover s inability to revive the depressed economy, and his lack of a personality that reaches out to
the average American, provided Roosevelt (who was very popular) with a path to victory. I shall
discuss this view, with points in favour and points that argue Roosevelt had an appealing policy and
opinions that ensured his triumph which did not rely on Hoover s incompetence and lack of charm.
Beginning with the points in favour, it becomes easy to understand the principle behind the
aforementioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another point, which greatly affected Hoover s chances of winning, was his inconsistency in methods.
At first, he was dependant on voluntarism (charities and businesses helping at their own will) to solve
the problem of the depression. Hoover implemented the POUR organisation to help the unemployed,
but it only used donated money. The charity Red Cross, by 1931 could only provide 75 cents a week
for hungry families. The situation had developed far beyond the ability of private charity to cope
(source 3). His inconsistency is shown when he alters his approach from opposing direct government
aid and laissez fair (to leave alone), to intervention. He personally gave up a fifth of his income. In
January, congress provided $2 billion in funding a new agency, the reconstruction finance corporation
(which makes loans to large economic organisations) and in February, Hoover signed the Glass
Steagell act, which allocated £750 million of gold reserves to businesses. However, what he did was
too little too late. Roosevelt s strength was that he was quick to capitalise on the republicans failures in
their approach of voluntarism and this gave him an advantage, as the American public was willing to
try something new. Roosevelt once said in a speech for his election campaign in 1932: Whatever

The Ideological Concept Of Insanity Defense
The ideological concept of an insanity defense, formerly termed complete madness, was originally
incorporated into the English common law jurisprudence system in the late thirteenth century of the
United Kingdom as an affirmative defense for defendants under the yoke of criminal charges
involving a heinous action which could involve the option of termination of a defendant s life if
adjudge guilty of such act (Hill). Through such incorporation of a legal defense, the institution of a
new societal grouping known commonly as the criminally insane became expounded, as well as, the
legal opportunity allowing for self declaration of being innocent by reason of mental illness or defect
(or, the insanity defense). Those criminally insane are a subset of the prison population who have been
deemed to have committed their crimes under the influence of a mental disease/disorder, or who were
not in a condition of intellect during the time of the crime to comprehend the illegality or immorality
of their offense (Frontline). Only if the defendant has plead insanity before the court can they be
considered a truly criminally insane inmate. There are manifold condemnations sustained by the
judicial system ranging from guilty but insane to not guilty by reason of insanity, as well as the legal
states of incompetency and diminished capacity. This distinction has become a substance of federal
law, but as soon as a defendant is convicted, the treatment of the convicted individual is left

International Widgets Code Of Ethics
Ethics is a term that many people does not understand because there is no set code of ethics that
everyone must follow. There is not a one size fits all (Pasztor, 2015) when it comes to ethics. A code
of ethics determines how employees should act while working for the company. Each company has
their own code of ethics that they expect ALL their employees to follow. The employee is supposed to
show action that is for the best interest of the employer and clients above their own interests. In John
Anderson s case, he did not follow this, which, resulted in violating the code of ethics. International
Widgets Code of Ethics has eight different rules to follow: confidentiality, ethics, duty of care, conflict
of interest, intellectual property ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fiduciaries are expected only to pursue the interests of beneficiaries when executing a fiduciary
mandate. To that end, the duty of loyalty strictly forbids conflicts of interest and conflicts of duty, on
pain of powerful remedies that strip fiduciaries of any gains realized in breach. (Miller, 2013, p. 972)

relationship John is obligated to be loyal to International Widget and should carry out instructions set

How Did The Tang Empress Wu Zetian, The First Female Ruler...
The Tang Empress Wu Zetian (also known as Empress Wu or as Wu Zhao; ruled China around 690

pharaoh between 1508 and 1458 BC of the Eighteenth dynasty of Egypt and the first women pharaoh

styles of ruling during each of their times as rulers.
Cultures over which they ruled, identifying any similarities and differences between the cultures.
We will look at Wu Zetian, the first female ruler in China, was born in 624. Per parents were rich and
of noble families, besides the straighter end results of her move violently to expand and uphold
ultimate power, Wu s leadership resulted in significant consequences about social class in Chinese
culture and in relation to circumstances hold up for Taoism, Buddhism, education, and writing. Wu
Zetian also had a colossal impact leading the sculptures at the Qianling Mausoleum of the Longmen
Grottoes and the Wordless Stele , on top of the building of some most important constructions and

  • 2. Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis We read with great interest the paper by Richard van Valen and his colleagues that evaluated patients with prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) due to opportunistic bacterial pathogen Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes). The authors should be congratulated for publishing the largest single centre series to date on the topic, as thus far the literature was dominated by single case reports. We would like to add some thoughts on the microbiological aspects of PVE caused by this facultative anaerobic species. Diagnosis of PVE caused by this microorganism is often delayed due to oligosymptomatic and nonspecific presentation, hence microbiological confirmation is pivotal for adjusting treatment. Unfortunately, aside for establishing positivity of blood and/or tissue cultures, there is no further elaboration on the microbiological techniques employed to diagnose P. acnes in this study, probably due to its retrospective design. It would also be interesting to know the incidence of neurologic symptoms in this case series of 13 patients, as these are more commonly observed in P. acnes PVE than in any other type of infective endocarditis (x). ... • 3. Essay The Cycle of Vengeance in Aeschylus’s Oresteia The Cycle of Vengeance in Aeschylus s Oresteia The cyclic thread of vengeance runs like wild fire through the three plays in Aeschylus s Oresteia. This thread, with its complexity of contemporary and universal implications lends itself quite well to in fact, almost necessitates deeply interested study. While a brief summary of the Oresteia will inevitably disregard some if not much of the trilogy s essence and intent, on the positive side it will establish a platform of characters, events, and motives with which this paper is primarily concerned. As such, I begin with a short overview of the Oresteia and the relevant history that immediately precedes it. The house of Atreus is cursed, it would seem, with the perpetual cycle ... As John H. Finley, Jr. has rightly put it, Both Agamemnon and Aegisthus perpetuate their father s infections Agamemnon by the slaughter of innocents and Aegisthus by the adultery with Clytemnestra (Pindar 258). The Libation Bearers speaks of the remaining children of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, Orestes and Electra, who (with some urging from Apollo) avenge the death of their father by killing both Aegisthus and their own mother. The Furies, enraged by Orestes violation of the filial bond, pursue his punishment. The Eumenides covers the taming of the Furies, the reconciliation of the dominant opposing forces in the trilogy, the establishment of Athena s court of law, and, as J. J. Pollitt argues, brings us out of the earlier dark irrationality into what seems an enlightened world of order and reason (30). Each of these acts, excepting the first and the last, is both a consequence and a cause: every individual involved sought to avenge the horrid act of an offender each seemingly sought justice by way of retribution. By identifying only a single reason or cause each for the vengeful acts outlined above, it is easy to generalize this chain of events into cyclic manifestation of the age old law an eye for an eye. Much is lost in this simplification of the story; the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Attempts to breach networks are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to defend against, as more powerful hardware is introduced and new security defenses become available leaving older measures unreliable. Aging networks that are improperly secured are more at risk than ever. It is not only important to ensure you have the proper defense at the perimeter but also internally on wired and wireless infrastructure. When considering network security controls, acceptable risk is often considered but needs to be minimized to provide the smallest attack surface for an attacker to exploit. ABC Corporation has determined that a central authentication method that supports certificate exchange and integrates with an Active directory environment best suits the company s needs. According to InfoSec, By definition 802.1x is an IEEE standard for port based authentication which was originally designed for wired network authentication and later leveraged to provide the same services to wireless. It is typically only implemented in large networks such as campus or enterprise networks. Implementing Radius as a security solution provides Ease of Management, Ease of Use, Support, Scalability and Security for the network and IT staff. Radius will allow for the use of Certificate sharing between devices that can be pushed out through Active directory and Group Policy. These policies and certificates can make the authentication process easier for the end user with automatic authentication or the ability to use the same credentials that are used in other systems and can be controlled on a per user basis. These same group policies will allow you to assign users to different networks based on roles within the company also known as Role Based Access Control (RBAC) further securing the network. • 9. Summary Of The Death Of Honesty By William Damon Introduction The article under analysis is entitled The Death of Honesty and is written by William Damon in 2012. In general, in his article, he describes the problem of deception in today s world and compares it with the past. He also uses many expressive means and rhetorical devices in order to support his idea. His main idea is that the biggest problem today is not that people are frequently lying because, as he says, it is in human nature to lie, and it is not always bad, but that truthfulness is becoming less important as it was before (Damon). Therefore, he fears that if his idea is true, the bonds of trust that are vital for creating a free democratic society are in danger, which will inevitably lead to the situation where building good relationships between people is impossible, and the civilized society will collapse. Summary of the Article At the beginning of the article, Damon describes the notion of deception and truth. He claims that deception is not always bad, but, moreover, it can be better than truth in certain cases and provides examples of such cases. Then he claims that telling lies is in human nature and that people have always been lying throughout their entire history. However, he expresses his concern toward the current tendency of making truth insignificant (Damon). In this respect, he says that despite people have always lied, the being honest was considered honorable, and this virtue had a high value among people. Now, in his opinion, this honor has disappeared. In the body of the article, the author depicts his fears that if being honest is no longer valued, the future society will collapse and give way to chaos and anarchy. Then he states that this tendency is observed even in those places where truth must be the priority, for example, educational institutions. Here he provides many examples of scandals that occurred in different schools regarding the students who were cheating and teachers who abetted them in doing it. Understandably, most students want to cheat, especially those who despise studying and learning. However, the motivation of teachers can be different and unusual. For example, some teachers do not punish students for teaching because they think that by helping each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Prevalence Of Homelessness And Homelessness The Prevalence of Homelessness In this textual analysis, I m going to discuss the prevalence of homelessness in the United States. I ll be using three songs from popular culture that focus on homelessness. Different artists perform these three songs: Avril Lavigne, Bob Dylan, and Nirvana. I m going to address the values that people who are homeless may have, according to what each artist conveys through their song lyrics. Throughout the lyrics in each song, it seems like the artists are attempting to communicate to the public that homelessness is a serious issue that nobody is immune to. The values that I have gathered are bravery, hope, and perseverance. I have chosen this topic because over half a million people are homeless, the government has limited resources to help those who are homeless, and some cities are making homelessness illegal. This topic is important to me because nobody is immune to homelessness, which is terrifying and unfortunate. This topic should be important to others because homelessness is a serious problem and it seems like we tend to treat people who are homeless like they re not human beings. Some people think that if a person who s homeless wants to truly change their situation, they would simply get a job. There s clothing assistance available for people who are homeless; having access to a resource like this can help people who are homeless by providing them with appropriate clothing for job interviews. • 16. The Islamic Diffusion Of India INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH In the 600s, Arab traders were in contact with India. They would regularly go to the west coast of India to trade different goods, like African goods, spices, and gold. As the Arabs began to convert to Islam, the religion carried to the coast of India. The first mosque in India was built in 629, it is called the Cheraman Juma Masjid. The mosque was made in the Indian state Kerala. Islam continued to spread into Indian cities, by immigration and conversion, as the Arab Muslims and the Indians continued trading. DIFFUSION Islamic diffusion in India happened through both Relocation and Expansion. India was first introduced to Islam in the 600 s when Arab traders regularly sailed to the west coast of India to trade goods like spices and gold. At this time the Arabs had begun to convert to Islam. When they came to the shores of India, they brought their new Islam religion with them. The first mosque in India was built in 629. Islam continued to spread in coastal Indian towns and cities through this immigration and relocation. However, most Indians stayed with their own religion and there was not a massive immigration of Muslims from other areas. Islam also has diffused through Expansion. The greatest Expansion of Islam in India first occurred in 711. Seventeen year old Muhammad bin Qasim was appointed to lead his army of 6,000 soldiers to the far eastern side of Persia, Makran. Analysis Of The Price Of Beauty Essay Angelica Alvarado Professor Stacey English 103 September 14, 2016 The Price of Beauty There s an ongoing, almost always unsaid joke, that women have one million emotions within a twenty four hour period, which is completely opposite from that of a man s day. But has anyone really taken the time to look at what goes into being a woman? It goes without saying that if a woman doesn t know how to contour, or highlight her face, other women will talk down to her and about her when she leaves; men won t even be interested. At the same time, if she does use makeup, but it s not the BEST kind, or highest quality, there s a chastising and condescending tone used during conversation, or an assumption that these women are simple or easily amused . • 19. Figurative Language In The Jungle By Richard Connell Richard Connell uses figurative language in the story to add richness and spark by using metaphors and similes. Part of the American Culture is slang which is metaphors and similes. It s just how we talk and communicate. Even in a story with a scary, mysterious type of mood we can still have slang. I will explain some of the metaphors and similes throughout the story and how they add the richness the story s needs. When Richard Connell quotes trying to peer through the dank tropical night that was palpable as it pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht. , he uses the key phrases such as pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht . This key phrase is showing a detailed way to say that it was getting dark and into the night. • 20. The Process Of Meiosis And Mitosis In order to better understand the process of meiosis and mitosis, students observed different types of asci. The arrangement of spores was associated to whether crossing over occurred during meiosis 1. We tried observing asci, from the mating plate that we did last lab, with a light microscope. However, the class was unsuccessful and were told to look for images of asci on google images and use these observations as our data. The observations obtained from google images, showed that 27 observations were made for asci of type 4:4, 19 for asci type 2:2:2:2 and 14 for asci of type 2:4:2 (Table IB 1). With these observations, we determined the map distance which was 27.5 map units (Figure 5.4). Since asci of type 4:4 were observed more, crossing over occurred less, thus producing less asci with different arrangements. Sordaria also undergo mitosis because the end result of meiosis are four haploid cells and haploid cells cannot divide by meiosis. Lastly, since more asci with type 4:4 were observed, the hypothesis was supported more black ascus were also observed which supported the second hypothesis. Although students were not successful in observing asci during the lab, students were still able to understand the importance of meiosis and relate it to real life issues. INTRODUCTION Meiosis is a two part cell division (meiosis 1 and meiosis 2) process that produces four daughter cells, each having half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell such as the product of ... Knee Injury Research Paper Athletes Suffering from Knee Injuries are Opting for Cold Laser Therapy over Knee Surgery By Juliet Peters Aug 22, 2011 A knee injury can be a painful and debilitating setback for anyone, however for athletes experiencing knee problems it can be a deal breaker that threatens to take them out the game. This is why many professional athletes are opting to treat their knee injuries with cold laser therapy rather than go through traditional knee surgery. Unfortunately, the athletes who rely on their knees the most are also the ones who are prone to knee injuries. Knee damage is extremely common in many sports, especially long distance running, competitive cycling, basketball, tennis, volleyball, skiing and weight lifting. Most athletes training ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is why today s athletes are turning to cold laser therapy to treat knee injuries rather than undergo knee surgery. They realize arthroscopic knee surgery is invasive and doesn t work most of the time, and often leaves athletes dealing with the effects of less cartilage, and more arthritis in the knee. In addition, knee replacements for young athletes aren t really an option because they typically should only be performed on patients sixty five and older due to the lifespan of the prosthetic. Another reason athletes make the decision to have cold laser therapy over knee surgery is the fact that there is a long period of downtime after the surgery that would take them away from training for their sport. Cold laser therapy or low level laser therapy is an approved method of treatment by the U.S Food and Drug Administration, and it is primarily used to relieve pain and the debilitating inflammation resulting from tendonitis, arthritis or a torn meniscus. It also helps speed up the healing process so that athletes can get back to their sport quicker. Cold laser therapy is the number one choice among athletes to rehabilitate knee injuries because this noninvasive treatment provides them with safe, livable solutions for pain relief and allows them to get back to doing what they love without any ... The Drosophila melanogaster is used to model diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, and Huntington s Disease. Using the perspective of Radical Feminist Thought, I argue that such violence is normalized through the lack of current public resistance to this crime and contends that women themselves begin to see this type of treatment as acceptable. Structurally, this paper will begin by providing a concise summary of the values of Radical feminism to give clarification on the standpoint of this feminist position in analysis of the current event. It will describe the history of criminalizing domestic violence; how liberal and radical feminist views differ in looking at the private/public and how popular understanding of domestic violence has shifted significantly over the years ... It is that radical feminist theory has impacted society on both the micro and the macro level, resulting women s movement for equality in bringing social changes impacting the responses to domestic violence issues. Our popular understanding and legal approach to domestic violence has shifted dramatically throughout the years. There has been a shift from the private response, where domestic violence was considered a product of relationship dysfunction, to a fully public campaign in which the state takes the lead in combating domestic violence through arrest and prosecution of abusers. This shift, I have argued, reflects a radical feminist understanding of domestic violence as patriarchal force and was informed by earlier radical feminist theorizing on ... • 41. Dido s Common Use Of Love In Aeneid There are two integral pieces of love in Virgil s epic Aeneid: the romantic, lustful love (as felt by Dido for Aeneas) and the grounded, honest, family love (as felt between Aeneas and Anchises). There is a dynamic relationship between the two sides of love which causes each to emphasize the other – an emphasis that is facilitated by Virgil s common use of fire and flame imagery to describe both types of love. Upon analyzing the lustful episode between Dido and Aeneas and the image of Aeneas fleeing troy bearing his father, Anchises, on his back and holding his sons hand (beautifully sculpted by Bernini, see attached), it becomes clear that the love in each situation is very different, despite the common use of the Latin ... However, because their love will be consummated sexually, this desire could literally be a sense of physical arousal. As Aeneas tells Dido of his destiny to sail for Italy not of [his] own free will, (IV.499) he begs Dido to release him from the pain that their love causes. So please, no more / Of these appeals that set us both afire. (IV.497 498) Literally, he begs for it to end. He begs for the fire to be put out and the romantic, lustful love to cease. As Aeneas leaves, Dido is overcome with a maddened fire. From far away I shall come after you / With my black fires, and when cold death has parted / Body from soul I shall be everywhere / A shade to haunt you! (IV.533 536) Dido is now consumed by her own inward fire and it causes her to pledge to haunt Aeneas with black fire, a sign of pure evil. She vows that Aeneas will pay for this, (IV.536). Noting the transformation from the use of inward fire as a medium for desire to a more hysterical, crazed type of passion is essential in understanding the ultimate failure of romantic and lustful love in the Aeneid. Finally, as Dido unleashes her own inward fire all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discuss Throughout the history of European integration, the major UK parties have debated on all different aspects of Europe and the impacts of membership on Britain itself. From both these debates and party policies, it is clear to see that whilst there is generally a consensus over Europe, some issues have been a cause of disagreement among the major parties. In this essay I will analyse the policies and actions of the major UK parties that concern the EU and be able to conclude to what extent they agree over Europe. The Conservatives, on the other hand, have been against joining the Eurozone ever since negotiating an opt out from the part of the Maastricht Treaty that would have required the UK to adopt the euro. They remain against the joining the euro, with David Cameron saying in his recent speech on Europe that Britain is not in the single currency, and we re not going to be . One common criticism of the EU by all three major parties has been the lack of democracy within the EU institutions. Even the pro European Liberal Democrats have said that the certain parts of the EU need to be reformed. One of the main reforms supported by the major parties is the reform of the EU budget to get better value for money, as they believe that the UK pays too much into the budget and does not get as much out of it as it pays in. A policy that the all parties wish to reform is the Common Agricultural Policy. The CAP takes up 32% of the EU s budget, but only supports a small minority of EU businesses. They believe that the CAP makes food more expensive in the EU than it needs to be, and that it increases poverty in poor countries by competing unfairly with local farmers. The major parties also support reform of the Common Fisheries Policy, with all three voting in favour of reform of the CFP in the European Parliament in February 2013. The Liberal Democrats and ... • 45. Similarities And Differences Between Jesus And The Quran... Jesus in Islam Most Christians are well acquainted with the identity of Jesus as presented in the biblical canonical Gospels. However, most are not well versed in the Jesus presented in Islam. Contemporary Christian understanding of Jesus, his miracles, and his identity as a prophet has been most often mutually exclusive from that of the contemporary Islamic community. It is well established that there are many points of dissimilarity between the character representations of Jesus. Yet, there are also notable similarities. Jesus s miracles are discussed in both texts with varied stressed importance and purposes. With both traditions established in their respective religions, it is interesting to engage the concept that these pictures of Jesus could not be mutually exclusive. Examination of the Christology and miracles of Jesus in the Quran and Hadith allows contemporary Christian readers to view Jesus through a broader, historical lens. In Images of Jesus Christ in Islam, Oddbjorn Leirvik warns the reader that one can easily read the Quran with a Christian bias, ignoring historical context (28). Examining the similarities and differences in the Christologies presented in the Bible and the Quran can easily garner such biases. Leirvik brings several issues forth that add perspective to examining the Muslim Jesus in comparison to the Christian Jesus. In summary, Juror Eight reveals many traits and characteristics of himself and these characteristics and his actions impact the story greatly. When the Eighth Juror tried to open the discussion and give the boy a fair trial, he created the whole story. The entire play would not have even occurred if not for the Eighth Juror. At the start, all of the jurors wanted to go home. Several even talk about how they want to get this over with (Rose 7). So, all jurors were willing to vote as quickly as possible even if it meant that the defendant may not get the fairest hearing. But, the eighth was not willing to allow this because he wanted a fair trial. So, without the Eighth Juror, would there even be a story to tell? Most would think not. Juror Eight says many things that make the rest of the jury think a lot about. For instance, he states, It s not easy to identify a voice (Rose 32). By bringing up this valid reasoning, he added to the story and gave the boy a fair chance by questioning whether the story of everybody involved in the case is definitely true. • 47. The United States 1932 Election Essay The United States 1932 Election Many historians believe that the 1932 election was a popularity competition, with the prize being the chief of the white house. This is because they thought that Hoover s inability to revive the depressed economy, and his lack of a personality that reaches out to the average American, provided Roosevelt (who was very popular) with a path to victory. I shall discuss this view, with points in favour and points that argue Roosevelt had an appealing policy and opinions that ensured his triumph which did not rely on Hoover s incompetence and lack of charm. Beginning with the points in favour, it becomes easy to understand the principle behind the aforementioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another point, which greatly affected Hoover s chances of winning, was his inconsistency in methods. At first, he was dependant on voluntarism (charities and businesses helping at their own will) to solve the problem of the depression. Hoover implemented the POUR organisation to help the unemployed, but it only used donated money. The charity Red Cross, by 1931 could only provide 75 cents a week for hungry families. The situation had developed far beyond the ability of private charity to cope (source 3). His inconsistency is shown when he alters his approach from opposing direct government aid and laissez fair (to leave alone), to intervention. He personally gave up a fifth of his income. In January, congress provided $2 billion in funding a new agency, the reconstruction finance corporation (which makes loans to large economic organisations) and in February, Hoover signed the Glass Steagell act, which allocated £750 million of gold reserves to businesses. However, what he did was too little too late. Roosevelt s strength was that he was quick to capitalise on the republicans failures in their approach of voluntarism and this gave him an advantage, as the American public was willing to try something new. • 48. The Ideological Concept Of Insanity Defense The ideological concept of an insanity defense, formerly termed complete madness, was originally incorporated into the English common law jurisprudence system in the late thirteenth century of the United Kingdom as an affirmative defense for defendants under the yoke of criminal charges involving a heinous action which could involve the option of termination of a defendant s life if adjudge guilty of such act (Hill). Through such incorporation of a legal defense, the institution of a new societal grouping known commonly as the criminally insane became expounded, as well as, the legal opportunity allowing for self declaration of being innocent by reason of mental illness or defect (or, the insanity defense). Those criminally insane are a subset of the prison population who have been deemed to have committed their crimes under the influence of a mental disease/disorder, or who were not in a condition of intellect during the time of the crime to comprehend the illegality or immorality of their offense (Frontline). Only if the defendant has plead insanity before the court can they be considered a truly criminally insane inmate. There are manifold condemnations sustained by the judicial system ranging from guilty but insane to not guilty by reason of insanity, as well as the legal states of incompetency and diminished capacity. This distinction has become a substance of federal law, but as soon as a defendant is convicted, the treatment of the convicted individual is left ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
