2. Asahi Breweries
Summary
We recommend proceeding with proposed investment plan with some revision. Detail analyses and
rationalities state in the following sections.
Industry Analysis
Japan s beer industry is concentrated and highly regulated. The industry was projected to grow by
approximate 7.6% for 1988 as 1987 realized growth. There were mainly four kinds of beers: Dry,
Draft, Lager, Melt. Consumer taste was graduating changing. Their preferences were switching
from Lager beer to dry and draft beer. The government has tremendous power in this industry in
terms of price and distribution (a distributor or retailer needs a license issued by the government to
sell beers). Therefore, both the beer license and structure of distribution channels ... Show more

Absence, or even a poor execution, of any of these three elements could lead to the logic of
strategy to fail.
Investment Analysis
Strategic Perspective
Strategically, Asahi s investment plan was sound. Before the big hit of Dry Beer , Asahi was
considered a marginal player in the market with a 10% market share. As the taste of Japanese
consumers shifted towards dry beer, we expect that the dry beer sector would become the driver
of the beer industry. As shown in the case, the share of draft beer sales (dry beer was considered
one type of draft beers) had increased from 21% in 1980 to 50% in 1987. Asahi became a leader
in this sector with a 54.1% as calculated with the monthly sales numbers in 1988.
However, during the Dry War initiated by its competitors, Asahi was only able to supply 70% of
the orders placed in the summer of 1988. This caused not only lost sales, but also failure to match
distributors expectations of the firm, thus threatening the firm s leadership position in the sector.
With the expansion plan, Asahi would be able to satisfy demands in a fast increasing sector.
Since the retail price of beer in Japan was virtually regulated at a uniform level by the government,
the competition was about creating capacity to satisfy demand and delivering beers through the
distribution network. Two key factors are capacity and distribution network.

3. Iago Manipulation In Othello
Act III Scene III is one of the most important and influential scenes in this play; as it s the scene
where Iago is shown to successfully manipulate Othello into believing that Desdemona has not
been faithful to him. This is very significant to the rest of the play as it affects everything Othello,
the protagonist, thinks, feels and says from this point onwards. While beginning as a noble general,
he develops into just the opposite, swearing revenge on his wife. Act III Scene III is also the
longest scene in the play, which reflects its importance because so much develops and evolves
throughout.
During this act we begin to see the importance of manipulation as a central theme, with the plot
really starting to advance as Iago plants his seeds of suspicion in Othello s mind and starts to water
them. This develops the play significantly as we see Iago put into action the plans he spoke of
earlier through soliloquies and asides. In Act III Scene III, just as Cassio scurries out of the
room, Iago says, Ha! I like not that. (line 33) This is said to arise suspicion in Othello s mind as it
makes Cassio seem guilty of sleeping with Desdemona. Once this has been said, Iago leaves
Othello to ponder the various diabolical meanings provided within this short statement, which
makes him agitated and irritable. Although on line 93, Othello tells Iago, No, Iago, I ll see before
I doubt, when I doubt, prove, And on the proof there is no more but this: Away at once with love

Abstract: In cloud computing and services with the rapid developments, there has been a growing
trend to use the cloud for large scale data storage. This has raised the important security issue of
how to control and prevent unauthorized access to data stored in the cloud. Access control is one of
the most important security mechanisms in cloud computing. By using the Role Based Access

The cloud aims to cut costs, and help the users focus on their core business instead of being
impeded by IT obstacles Cloud computing is so named because the information being accessed
is found in the clouds , and does not require a user to be in a specific place to gain access to it.
The services are offered from data centres all over the world, which collectively are referred to as
the cloud. The idea of the cloud is to simplify the huge network connections and computer systems
involved in online services. Cloud computing is a computing model, not a technology. In this
model of computing, all the servers, networks, applications and other elements related to data
centres are made available to IT and end users. Cloud computing is a type of computing that is
comparable to grid computing. It relies on sharing computing resources rather than having local
servers or personal devices to handle applications.
Access control is generally a policy or a procedure that allows, denies or restricts access to a
system. It also monitors and records all attempts made to access a system. Access Control may also
identify users attempting to make an unauthorized access to a system. It is a mechanism which is
very much important for providing security. Various access control models are in use, including the
most common Mandatory Access Control (MAC), Discretionary Access Control (DAC) and Role
Based Access Control (RBAC). All these models are known as identity

Design Proposal Summary
The network team is proposing that access control lists (ACLs) be installed on routers at the
Cleveland office. Security policies and procedures have also been considered in order to handle and
maintain the ACLs.
Access controls are a sequence of instructions that a router will refer to before either allowing a
packet into or out of an interface. This is done by making sure that there are security features in
place that control the flow of information as well as how users access the network. An access control
list is written as a sequence of one line statements that are processed by the router ... Show more

The policies and procedures will be implemented using access control models. These models will
work to enforce the rules and objectives of our security policy and will also dictate user access.
Using a discretionary access control (DAC) model will allow the owner of the resources to
control who has access as well as the operations that can be performed. Access will be based on
the identity of the user and the role that the user plays within the company. This can be done
through access control lists (ACLs), where permission is granted on a need to know basis.

Western Humanities Midterm Essay
During the course I realized how large of a role art plays in helping create cultures and developing
and preserving the history of civilizations. I find it interesting that when there s no written history
or any historical buildings, cultures will always make their own ancient past grander than what it
really is. The Israelites, the Greeks and Romans all tell stories of their history that has no written
proof. It seems that we as people want to have a connection to our roots and to understand where
we come from. This is why I believe that most people want to believe in a higher power.

Until now, I didn t realize how much Islam influenced art and practically kick started science. I
learned that the Abbasid caliphs established the House of Wisdom, a center of leaning and science.
They gathered manuscripts in Greek and Sanskrit along with scholars who could understand and
translate them from the areas that they conquered.
The Abbasids were the first ones to study and translate important Greek and Indian mathematical
book like Euclid s geometry text the Elements. They adopted a very Greek approach to
mathematics of formulating theorems precisely and proving them formally in Euclid s ways.
Islamists wrote many influential books on mathematics of algebra that we still use today. One of
the books described how to write numbers in calculations using the place value decimal system
which is what we use today. This concept was developed in India in A.D. 600 s which was
translated and adopted by Arabic mathematicians. About 300 years later this book was translated
into Latin and it became the major source for European academics to learn the new system. This
system is known as the Hindu Arabic system which is taught to schoolchildren around the world. It
s amazing that a system of calculations was brought to Europe from practically the other side of the
world. I wonder how long it would have taken to figure out the same system without Muslim
involvement.

10. Nail Salon Procedure
3 Things to Consider when Buying a Pedicure Chair for a Nail SalonManicures and pedicures
used to be services offered by all beauty salons. However, as this industry evolved, it is now very
common to find salons that are dedicated solely to nail care. The main reasons why these salons
are preferred by customers is due to the fact that they keep up with the latest nail design trends,
and they use the most modern nail care equipment. The pedicure chair is perhaps the most
important piece of equipment for such a salon, as its quality can make the pedicure experience
more enjoyable for the customer. So, if you own a nail salon, you need to be very careful when
buying this chair. Here are the main factors that you need to consider! 1. The manufacturer As a
rule of thumb, it is always advised to buy from a local manufacturer. This way, if the product
breaks, you can easily find replacement parts. Moreover, the products produced in the USA tend
to be of higher quality than the ones produced overseas. If you are looking for a recommendation,
consider J A USA. They have been on the market for over 10 years, and they are among the best
pedicure chair manufacturers in the world. On https://www.jausainc.com/ you can find a wide

11. The Theory Of Evolution And Adaptation
There are three major refutations against the design argument, first she designs argument is faulted
for its weak analogy between the natural objects and the objects that that is known to have a creator
such as buildings. This is the equivalent of comparing apples to oranges. For the second refutation
the design argumentclaims that everything has a perfect design, this simply isn t the case. For
example, we can examine the issues of starvation within the United States, although the world is
structured to perfectly provide food for humans, there still people starving because of imperfect
circumstances such as the inability to transport food to those who can`t receive it themselves
(Tombs 7). The strongest and most accepted argument against the design argument is the theory of
evolution and adaptation. Those who support the theory of evolution and adaptation credits the
perfect design of the aspects to those two concepts. Artic Fish are an example of this adaption, they
have developed a protein in their blood that prevent their blood from freezing which allows them
continue their metabolic functions (Lloyd 2). The finally argument against the design theory states
that even if the premise of the argument is true, its doesn t necessarily confirm the existenceof God.
The third argument of the existence of Godis the ontological argument. Unlike the cosmological and
the design arguments the ontological argument does not attempt to seek evidence with in our

12. Violence In Frantz Fanon s The Wretched Of The Earth
Frantz Fanon, in his book The Wretched of the Earth, seeks to define violence and its justification
in the context of colonialism. To understand Fanon s justification for violence, it is necessary to
learn how Fanon defines violence. Fanon s definitions of violence range from psychological to
historical to cultural, eventually leading the colonized to redirect this violence to the colonizer as
a cleansing ritual. In The Wretched of the Earth, The first type of violence that Fanon addresses is
physical and bodily harm. Fanon says that, Their first confrontation was colored by violence and
their cohabitation or rather the exploitation of the colonized by the colonizer continued at the point
of the bayonet and under cannon fire (Fannon 2). Immediately, the colonizer begins to imprison the
indigenous people for the colonist s benefit. He then defines ontological and epistemological
violence. Ontological and epistemological violence happens as the colonizer begins to steal the
identity of the people they control. This violence creates the bounds between the colonizer and the
colonized. It traps the indigenous people with slave identities, marking them as natives. Once this
violence occurs, colonizers begin to forget the greater reality of their actions. It becomes a
Manichean paradigm. There is no longer a gray area, just black and white, good and evil. Fanon
even goes so far as writing that Sometimes this Manichaeism reaches its logical conclusion and

that is the cold war, and delve into the philosophies of the two main nations involved. I will be
comparing the ideas behind communism, democracy, and capitalism. When World War II ended it
was decided that the best defense against the Soviet ideology was a strategy of containment. George
Kennan explained his policy n 1946, in the Long Telegram. The Soviet Union is a political force
committed fanatically to the belief that with the U.S. there can be no permanent modus vivendi
(agreement between parties that disagree); George Kennan went on to say that long term, patient
but firm and vigilant containment of Russian expansive tendencies was necessary. Harry Truman
echoed these ideas. It must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are
resisting attempted subjugation by outside pressures. This ideology is one that we implement to
this day. The United States used this situation to justify a astonishingly large arms buildup. In 1950,

18. High School Start Time Essay
A problem that burdens classrooms across the nation is a lack of energy and fatigue. Early start
times for school cause students to wake up early, and the large amounts of homework cause them
to stay up late. The lack of sleep affects teenage student worst of all because their developing
brains need the most sleep possible. Consequently, students grades could begin to suffer because
they are not retaining information. I feel exhausted and unable to learn, says a student when asked
how she feels in her first hour class. Research states that the average schoolstart time is 8:00. To
avoid this dilemma, schools should start classes later, have a study period first hour in lieu of an
actual class, or assign less homework so students can get to bed at a reasonable time.
One solution that could improve energy in the classroom is if classes started later. Even starting
thirty minutes later could allow students extra time to get ready and make their way to school.
This is especially a concern for students living in rural areas who, in many cases, need to travel
long distances to get to school. The same can go for inner city students who may need to transfer

The g factor, or general factor , is a construct developed in psychometrics to determine cognitive
abilities. It is a variable that summarizes positive correlations among various cognitive tasks,
which demonstrate an individual s performance at one type of cognitive task tends to be
comparable to his or her performance at other kinds of cognitive tasks. The g factor typically
accounts for 40 to 50 percent of the variance in IQ test performance, and IQ scores are frequently
regarded as estimates of an individual s g factor rating (Kamphaus et al. 2005). The terms IQ,
general intelligence, general cognitive ability, general mental ability, or simply intelligence, are

These include the Wason selection task, computerized games governed by difficult rules, pragmatic
reasoning schemes, analogical reasoning tasks, class inclusion, scientific reasoning tasks, and
categorization tasks. These factors explain why non verbal tests are often referred to as culture free,
and almost necessary for easing assimilation.
Acquiring relevant background knowledge which will be closely associated with social class is
important in psychometric tests, in addition to non cognitive sources. Jensen seems to be
unaware or at least avoid potential stressful effects relating to negative social evaluation and
systematic prejudice, which many children experience every day. Superficial factors like dialect,
facial appearance, and self presentation all play major roles. These have significant effects on the
way we see and evaluate ourselves. Bandura et al (1996) have shown how limited confidence in
cognitive based tests acquired by parents are inherited by their children, resulting in fear and
apathy in many intellectual tasks. Here, g is not a general ability variable, rather it s a measure of
intellectual self esteem.
Limited exposure to middle class cultural tools and low cognitive self esteem will, undoubtedly,
lessen one s self confidence, and cause anxiety in testing situations. There is a well known
association between IQ test performance and test anxiety. In his meta analysis of 562 studies,
Hembree (1988) found that subjects who feel

The magic law found in this magical event is consistency. The logical construction of the

we eat every day are very high in carbohydrates. Sticking with the routine of the diet and not

saw improvements as the days progressed. I noticed that I wouldn t get distracted during class

focused to learn the material. Therefore, my ketogenic diet may have helped me combat the
memory sin of absentmindedness. Overall, I have definitely witnessed the physical and mental

24. The Story Of The Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, And The...
In traditional Chinese theater, females, and particularly young girls, are perceived as property.
Their role in society is to get married to a male from another family of equal or higher social
status. In fact, the role of a woman is so set and stone that no matter how they were brought up,
whether or not they are noble or educated, does not seem to contribute to their destined fate. The
traditional Chinese society is so specific and consistent in determining the fate of females based
on social hierarchy that females seem to have no choice in the matter. Often, the decision is made
by their parents and the females are forced to simply comply. In three classic Chinese operas, The
Story of the Western Wing, The Peony Pavilion, and The Peach Blossom Fan, the main female
characters strive to move against societal norms by choosing their own destinies, hence choosing
their male partners. The classics make this freedom so valuable to the point that it is almost
unachievable. By creating female leads who fight against their own destinies, authors of each play
use irony to criticize traditional Chinese social structure. To show this irony, three heroines whom
are all upper class, educated, and very sheltered by their families and societal role of a womanare
struck by grief when deciding to choose their own fate. Although the freedom and approval of love
should be considered a premium lifestyle for its time, the impossible nature of the opportunity leads

These boots move the forces caused by a fall to the knee rather than the ankle or lower leg. The
ACL injury usually occurs when the knee is forcefully twisted, or hyper extended. Many patients
recall hearing a loud pop when the ligament tears, and feel the knee give way. This injury has
received a great deal of attention from orthopedic surgeons over the past 15 years and very
successful operations to reconstruct the torn anterior cruciate ligament have been performed. The
tearing oh the posterior cruciate ligament is another sports related knee injury, though less
common than the ACL. This injury can occur when the knee is forcefully twisted or hyper

direct blow to the front of the knee while the knee is bent. If the tibia moves too far back the
PCL can rupture. This is a common cause of injury to the PCL during an automobile accident. As
the automobile strikes another and stops suddenly, the front passenger or driver slides forward.
The bent knee hits the dashboard just below the kneecap. This forces the tibia backward on the

to Cinderella, the stepsisters are also abused by their mother. When the prince urges them to try

to cut off her big toe in order to make it fit. As for the other, her heel was too large and therefore
she was told to cut a piece of her heel off. And to both girls she had used the same phrase; Cut off

The Interlopers and The Machine That Won The War are two different short stories that heavily
push the themes of irony and suspense and although they may share these similarities I believe
that they also have many differences. Throughout this essay I am going to be breaking down these
two stories to find what sort of similarities and differences they contain. A similarity? They are
both fictional stories. A difference? One takes place in a Sci fi and futuristic setting, while the
other takes place in a more modern, or possibly older time frame.
Although two stories can have a similar overall genre, they may have a different and more specific
genre. A good example of this is the stories, The Interlopers and The Machine That Won The War.
Both of these stories are works of fiction, none of the events that take place in either of them are

frontrunner s charter versus stances on issues if candidates felt the same way on an issue. These
assumptions raised many questions to researchas well. Moody, Cohen, and Fournon (2013) raised
the first question of What types of messages did candidates disseminate utilizing tweets during the

their tweets (p. 3). Then the third question stated by Moody, Cohen and Fournon (2013) was, Were
runner up candidates more likely than front runners to attack their opponents in their tweets (p. 3)
Finally, the fourth and final question raised by Moody, Cohen, and Fournon (2013) stated, What
