Fallacious Arguments In the Declaration of Independence...
Fallacious Arguments in the Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is among the most profoundly interpreted and fiercely discussed
documents in modern history. Most likely because of its rhetorical style and numerous fallacious
arguments that are found. The colonists use of persuasion to influence by using repetition to achieve
their means. The Declaration of Independence is what 56 colonists saw as a logical course of
action. What you must ask yourself is: What was considered logical in 1776?
The rhetorical style uses persuasive ideals in the use of language. For example, in the first sentence
of the second paragraph, the parallel structure and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primarily fallacious argument is that of general rule, assuming that something is true in general
in every possible case. for example, the first sentence in the second paragraph that evokes a partial
truth that all men are created equal. When in fact the writers mean that only white land owners were
considered equal
because they didn t consider black men to be humans much less women to equal as well. So saying
We hold these truths... is ironic because it is in fact not true in their minds that all men are created
equal.
The second fallacious argument, as the Ad Hominem. Which is that of attacking of the person
instead of the his argument. This is because the list of grievances in the second part of the
document. The redundancy of He has with only judgment from the colonist point of view because
of course they are not aware of the the Kings point of view because they are not the King.
Therefore, the Ad Hominem is the correct argument in this case due to the attack towards King, not
his argument.
The affects of the the arguments have both negative and positive outcomes depending on how
you perceive them. There is the response of freedom to a free nation, and that is what we as
Americans celebrate every Forth of July, or there is the ironic way that all Americans are now
seen as equal to any other person. Either way you look at

Analysis Of The Niger Delta And Its Past Struggles With...
Case Summary What has occurred in the Niger Delta is linked to its past struggles with military
rule transitioning to democratic rule, which often ends in a military regime taking control
nonetheless. From the start of its independence, Nigeria has slowly grown in its dependence on
oil as it s main economic revenue stream. Before the discovery of oil, the state had yam and
cassava crops, palm oil, rubber, and lumbers that provided economic revenue, though modest (Jike,
V.T. 2004). However once oil was found in 1956 and Independence in 1960, Nigeriahas not only
relinquished vast tracts of land to International Oil Companies (IOC) such as Royal Dutch Shell
(later named Shell PetroleumDevelopment Company), ExxonMobil, Chevron Texaco, and ENI,
but it has left the companies to conduct their extraction methods as they see fit (Imobighe, T. A.
(n.d.); Kadafa, A.A. 2012). In 2006, the Oil Spill Intelligence Report stated, Shell Nigeria is
accused of using double standards , referring to the outdated equipment and unethical methods
Shell practices. The Niger Delta has experienced 50 years of oil spills since the beginning of oil
production due to oil pipelines that are no longer in use leaking up to $10 million worth of oil a
day as reported by Shell. Shell has thus been accused of using outdated and old equipment in the
Delta they know they wouldn t dare use in the other countries they operate in. A New York Times
article from September in 2013 wrote the eye catching headline,

Why The US Won The Battle Of Midway
The United States had to face two enemies at one time. The U.S.A had to push the Nazis
back into the town of holland. They had to stop them from taking over the
Philippines and Hawaii. First there
was the war of Midway. The Japanese tried to take destroy the three aircraft
battleships. The Japanese attacked the Midway ship two times but they thought they
attacked two different ships so they took a break. They only attacked one battleship
so they were resting the other two battle ships got ready to attack the Japanese
battleship and the U.S. destroyed the Japanese battleship. After the Nazis took over
Holland, the U.S. went and trapped the Nazis.

Philippine troops fought a hopeless battle against invading Japanese troops between December
1941 and May 1942, any hope of reinforcement by the greatly weakened United States Pacific

Hawaii and the Philippines.
To appreciate the major contribution by General Douglas

Energy expenditure, intake and balance
Task 1 [P3, M1]
Describe/explain potential sources of energy intake and expenditure and the factors that affect
intake and expenditure such as basal metabolism, age, gender, climate and physical activity.
Food is a source of energy intake as it contains carbohydrates; there main function is to store
energy in the muscles. Carbs are a macronutrient and come in two different forms, simple which
are foods like chocolate and sweets these release energy quickly, the other form is complex
which are foods like pasta and rice they release energy slower so are better to keep energy for a
sustained period of time. There are certain factors that affect energy intake for instance what gender
you are affects how much energy you need, a male s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These measurements are then converted into body fat percentage using an equation; a male should
have around 15% body fat whereas a female should have 20 25% due to them having breasts etc.
(100 words)
Bioelectrical Impedance Bioelectrical impedance measures the resistance of body tissues to the
flow of a small electrical signal. The proportion of body fat can be calculated due to the current
flowing through the parts of the body that are made up of mostly of water such as blood, urine and
muscle this is not possible through bone, fat and air. By doing this it is possible to work out how
much body fat the person has by combining the bioelectric impendence measurement with factors
such as gender, age, height, weight, and fitness level.
(100 words)
Hydro densitometry Hydro densitometry (which is also known as hydrostatic weighing) is
weighing someone while they are in water, it is considered to be the most accurate form of
measuring body fat. A very large tank of water is used for this test, firstly a comparison is made
between the underwater weight and the dry weight of a person. Due to fat being less dense than
the other tissues in the body, it floats more easily. The more fat a person has on their body, the
greater the difference between the dry and wet weights. While this method of measuring is very
accurate and considered the best way of measuring body fat, not many people use this method
because the equipment and test is highly expensive.

Essay On Roman Domus
Roman Domus
A Roman Domus was an ancient Roman house. It was usually owned by wealthy Roman families,
and contained a countless number of rooms and wings. The average Roman Domus contained a
Vestibulum, Taberna, Atrium, Tablinum, Trinclinium, Peristylium, Exedra and several alae and
cubiculums. However, the Domus was not just a place where wealthy families lived. It was also a
place of business and religious ceremonies. Roman Domuses were usually built so that that they
did not face the street. In fact, they often had walls separating them from the street and nearby
Domuses. Now, I will proceed to describe the many rooms of the Roman Domus.
First, the Domus contained several entrance halls. One entrance hall was the Vestibulum. The...

The Peristylium was an open courtyard or garden in the center of the Domus. This courtyard
contained flowers, shrubs, fountains, fish, and pools of water, benches, and sculptures. There was a
portico, which surrounded the courtyard. The inner walls of this portico were highly decorated with
paintings and art. Sometimes, the Perystilium also contained a lararium a shrine for the household
gods.
The seventh room of the Roman Domus was the Exedra. The Exedra was located right next to the
Peristylium, and was a formal dining room. It was used for lavish dinner parties and events. Often,
the Exedra was decorated with a garden or nature theme. For example, one might find an Exedra
decorated with mosaics of nature god or goddess.
The next room of the Domus is the Culina. The Culina was the kitchen. Located in a small corner
of the house, it was usually dark and poorly ventilated. This was because since the slaves did all
of the cooking, their masters were indifferent as to whether or not the environment where their
slaves worked was hot, small or stuffy. The Romans cooked their food using ovens, the top of
which were used to keep meals warm before they were

Pros And Cons Of Edward Snowden
In 2010, Snowden took a job as a private contractor at an NSA facility in Japan. He worked for
Dell corporation which contracted with the agency. As we know, after 9/11, opportunities for
contactors increased as the American security state turned many of its intelligence tasks to
private corporations. This job gave Snowden a top secret clearance and greater access to
surveillance secrets than he previously had working for the CIA. Like his reaction in the CIA,
Snowden seemed even more shocked by what he saw going on in the NSA: I could watch drones
in real times as they surveilled the people they might kill. You could watch entire villages and see
what everyone was doing. I watched NSA tracking people s Internet activities as they typed.... Show

Socrates Was An Athens A Greek Philosopher
Michael Kline
Professor Copley
Philosophy
October 6,2015
Socrates was an Athens, Greece born man, who is credited as one of the main founders of Western
Philosophy. Socrates never wrote any of his thoughts and experiences down, so we just know and
analyze Socrates through the dialogues of his greatest apostle, Plato. Although, the dialogues
written by Plato are not totally focused on summarizing Socrates life, but more about his
teachings and examining of others, you never really learn how Socrates lived in an everyday life.
He appeared to be a very simple man, with not many possessions or riches to his name. Socrates
never did participate in political reform in Greece, but rather choose to converse with every day
Athenians to analyze and instruct them about virtue and examination. He based his life off the
simplicity of understanding virtues and the search for wisdom. His quest for wisdom and the
instruction of others through dialogue seem to be Socrates most important aim in life. His
questioning and examining ended up getting him in trouble, as explained through The Apology,
Socrates was brought in front of a jury with charges of not recognizing the gods recognized by the
state, of inventing new deities, and of corrupting the youth of Athens. The case ended with him
being charged as guilty, and instead of accepting exile for this rest of his life; he chose death by
drinking hemlock poison. In The Apology, Socrates claims the unexamined life is not worth living

Case Study On Garment Industry
Case Study 1
The study was carried out on the production facility of a T shirt based garment industry in India.
The current system used by the garment industry is Progressive bundling system (PBS).
However, the PBS system leads to bulks of work in process (WIP) because each PBS system is
being setup for each exclusive product. High amount of WIP causes high throughout time as well as
the rework time which will also makes the line balancing different with a lot of hidden defects in
the products. Besides that, the factory manufactures the t shirt in small order size with a lot of
styles. Thus, the production must hold minimum WIP between processes so that it can adapt to the
changes of order quickly with minimum setting time. By using the current PBS system, such
flexibility could not be achieved. Among all the departments, sewing department having the highest
amount of WIP. The main problem encountered by the sewing room is high production lead time.

Multilingualism is easily defined as an occurrence regarding an individual or group of speaker(s)
who use(s) two or more languages, a community of speakers where two or more language are used
as oral or written form. Multilingualism basically arises to communicate with speech communities.
There are two type of multilingualism is seen in our scenario: These two type of multilingualism
are: A) Additive multilingualism and B) Subtractive multilingualism.
Additive bi/multilingualism: Additive multilingualism enriches both the languages by their usage;
e.g. if a child cherishes/nourishes other languages side by side his mother tongue too, then it is
called additive bi/multilingualism.
Subtractive multilingualism: It refers to the gradual loss of the first language as the second language
dominates learner s functional space, in which case the speaker s loyalty shifted towards acquired
language; e.g. if a child acquired second language and this language dominates upon his/her mother
tongue and he/she priorities and shifts loyalty to acquired language, then it is called subtractive
multilingualism. (Bedadur Vijay Nivedita, 2015 pp

Margaret Atwood Film Techniques
Costume Design is one of the most important factors in the filmmaking process. A single piece of
clothing can change the audiences perception of a character. Contemporary films use costume
design in a way to create a realistic and familiar setting, while period dramas or films from
another time use it as a way to shape a character. Throughout the years, the approach to costume
design has evolved but the heart of it has never wavered. Films are affected greatly by the use of

Summary and Response of 2b or Not 2b Essay
Zhang 1 Hao Zhang Professor Warmbold English 120, Section 06 24 March 2013 In the article
2b or not 2b , David Crystal begins with discussing how others such as John Humphry argued
that texters are vandals who are doing to our language what Genghis Khan did to his neighbors
800 years ago. They are destroying it (335). This is also the common belief of most people.
People often argue about the bad points of technology over our language. However, Crystal
believes that texting can improve children s ability to read and write rather than hinder their
literacy as many people claim. He also argues that not all texting are done in abbreviated words.
Complex messages and institutional messages are often texted in standard form of... Show more

And then we can play with abbreviated forms. I think this is the same thing as learning to run. A
baby first need to learn to walk, and then he can run. We cannot reverse the order of these two
things. So, actually texting has no effect to improve children s literacy, it is just because
children have the ability to play with abbreviated forms. Children s literacy comes from their
parents, their teachers rather than texting messages. Personally, I often abbreviate my words
when I send messages. I type u for you, cos for because, 2moro for tomorrow, gdnite for
goodnight, etc. I don t think these will affect my sensitivity to standard English because I just
use abbreviations for typing faster. The invention of SMS itself is for people to contact more
convenient. By using abbreviations, I can save time and energy, which is adapted to the fast
paced life in New York City. In the article, Crystal states that, English has had abbreviated words
ever since it began to be written down (339). Some abbreviations have become their own words
over the years. First, I feel worried about that. As one of my classmate said, As a foreign speaker

The primary outcome of this study showed coaggregation between A. radioresistens and S.

combination of S. epidermidis or S. haemolyticus with M. luteus demonstrated coaggregation.
However, no coaggregating pairs exhibited the high scores as presented by the positive control

previous study.41 From the data presented here, it is clear that the microorganism were isolated

is still unknown. The present study also has shown the adhesion of Staphylococcus spp. had the
influence in the adhesion of A. radioresistens. The rate of bacterial growth in liquid medium, builds
the argument of cohesion results where M. luteus or A. radioresistens was initiated the growth of S.
epidermidis and S. haemolyticus in BHI. There was a reduction in the growth of M. luteus with
Staphylococcus spp; although the contrary was expressed in cohesion assay.
The current study also has investigated the inhibitory effect of lactose, sucrose and pronase in the
coaggregation. Sato et al (1984) demonstrated that coaggregation between actinomycetes and
streptococci occurred via lectin like substances (i.e. substances similar or identical to proteins that
bind sugars) on the surface of actinomycetes with carbohydrate(s) on the surface of streptococci.47
Pre treating Staphylococcus spp. with lactose and sucrose inhibited the coaggregation which
indicates the involvement of Staphylococci lectins in the coaggregation which again resembles the
finding of the previous study. The ocular isolates of S. aureus and S. epidermidis inhibited the
coaggregation with P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens when pre treated with lactose or sucrose.41
However, the selected inhibitory sugars were unable to stop coaggregation with Micrococcus spp.

INTRODUCTION Effective Communication is significant for managers in the organizations so as
to perform the basic functions of management, i.e., Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling.
Communication helps managers to perform their jobs and responsibilities. Communication serves
as a foundation for planning. All the essential information must be communicated to the managers
who in turn must communicate the plans so as to implement them. Organizing also requires
effective communication with others about their job task. Similarly leaders as managers must

Any change in plans might be communicated with the employees in advance so that resistance may

information to the employee. CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMUNICATIONS: Segmented: Even
in small organizations, it is wrong to assume that all employees will have the same needs, interests
and desires when it comes to business communication. Effective business communication is
segmented to meet the needs of specific audiences. Employees working in an administrative setting,
for instance, will have different needs and different access to information than employees working
in a manufacturing environment. Specific: Generic business communication doesn t meet the
needs of anyone. Effective business communication is specific. The more specific communication
is, the more it meets the needs of its audience. Accurate: When information is inaccurate it loses its
credibility. The sender of the information also loses credibility. Effective business communication is
accurate in terms of the content conveyed and in terms of simple things that include grammar,
spelling and punctuation. Timely: Employees need to know what is going on in their organizations
and in the external environment that impacts them. Today s technology driven environment makes
it more challenging than ever before for businesses to communicate with employees in a timely

Why Premarital Sex Is Becoming An Epidemic
Abstract Premarital sex is becoming an epidemic in the United States, and an even bigger one
on our college campuses, especially Tougaloo College. The objective of my research is to
analysis Tougaloo College Students attitudes and responses towards premarital sex, and also to
see what factors causes premarital sex. My variables for my research are religion and premarital
sex rates. My hypothesis is Tougaloo Students of certain religions have a lower premarital sex
rate then students of other religions, and also lower STD rates. I will collect data from a self

the prevalence of someone contacting an STD and also show students up bringing is a contributing

Domestic Violence In The Workplace
Tina was in her late twenties when she first met her husband at church and married him a year
later. The abuse began a week into the marriage, but death threats were cast towards her and her
family as she asked for a divorce. Eventually, he cut her off from everyone she cared about,
imprisoning her in the home, and becoming progressively more violent. Finally Tina was able to
involve the police and save herself and the children that resulted from the relationship. Her advice
to women as she presented her story was to break the silence because at the end of the day, every
woman who is killed, injured, or harmed through domestic violenceis someone s daughter (Tina).

Behavioral changes can include withdrawal, flashbacks, and mood swings. Many individuals may

physical results from domestic violence, other symptoms can involve sleep deprivation, somatic
complaints, headaches, and chronic health problems. Each individual can experience a different

Art And Soul Analysis
I am Alicia Miller, entrepreneur, and owner of the business Art and Soul. Art and Soul is an art
studio and supply shop for all types of artists. I came up with the idea for the store from my love
of art and my idea of becoming a psychologist. The business now has developed into a different
idea from my first vision of it. The first idea was an art studio, to sell works of art. Then art
therapy you could guess how quickly that was shot down. At last, I came up with the final
design of a teaching location mixed with a supply shop. I, for one, think it was my best idea out
of the three. The closest location of a business near my location is a brick store at 969 Main St in

Algernon Movie Vs Book
Algernon Moncrieff is one of the main characters in oscar Wilde s play The Importance of Being
Earnest and he was also a main character in the movie as well. In the movie Algernon is
portrayed as a tall, mid thirties, caucasian male who is not entirely wealthy but also no where near
poor. Algernon s accent in the movie is something that was unexpected for me because when
reading the book I read his voice as a normal American voice but because he has an accent in the
movie it makes his characterseem more proper and important. The facial expressions that Algernon
has throughout the movie make his character appear more young/ childish, at times they make it
seem that he isn t taking what is being said towards him seriously. In the movie the

Stroop Interference
Abstract
Interference was examined using the numerical Stroop task as a way to quantify the effects of
conflicting stimuli. We hypothesized that it would take more time to complete a counting task than
it would take to complete a reading task. During this study participants attempted to process
incongruent and congruent stimuli while reporting the time it took to complete each task.
Processing the incongruent stimuli required that participants focus on counting the numbers while
fighting the inclination to read the numbers. The results showed that this active process produced
longer reaction times for the incongruent task. These findings suggest that interfering stimuli are in
competition with non automatic stimuli to produce verbal output. ... Show more content on

In his study using distractor words with similar meanings Finkbeiner (2006) saw that when these
words were masked there were obvious facilitating effects (Finkbeiner, 2006). Similarly, results
showed that during congruent conditions, congruent stimuli facilitate or improve performance on
the Stroop task so that the participant responds faster to congruent stimuli. However, despite its
apparent prevalence facilitation does not occur as much as interference (Brown, 2011). Previous
research demonstrated that interference and facilitation could be decoupled (McLeod, 1991). When
the condition using pseudohomophones (blue and bloo) was compared to incongruent conditions
there was interference for both conditions but no facilitation for the pseudohomophones (McLeod,

1. United States government reflected the rise of nationalism on a nationalism based legal and
rational concepts of citizenship, and based on a common language and cultural traditions, rather

balance of a slave and free states in the Union to 15 a piece. It also created more tension between

Darwinism And Survival In White Fang, By Jack London
White Fang, written by Jack London, is a wonderful adventure novel that vividly depicts the life of
a wolf by the name of White Fang. Throughout the course of the novel, White Fang goes through
numerous learning experiences as he interacts with humans and other wolves from Alaska around
the turn of the century. Jack Londonuses the events that transpire during White Fangs life to
illustrate that only the cunning, intelligent, and strong will be able to survive. The ideas of
Darwinism and survival are reinforced by almost every action that takes place in the novel. Man is
shown defeating nature through superior intelligence, a wolf cub conquers his puppy hood, and a
young wolf survives despite the hardships placed upon him by man.

He comprehends the eat or be eaten ; structure of animal society and knows that he must eat and
avoid being eaten to guarantee his survival.
This concept of survival is reinforced as White Fang has his first encounter with man. His first
instinct is to attack when he sees his half wolf half dog mother recaptured by Indians, and he acts
on this instinct. The rocks thrown by the Indians, however, remind him that he is a mere pup
fighting against gods. Because of his intelligence, White Fang knows when to submit in order to
keep his life. All of his actions are predicated on the need to live.
White Fang spends the majority of his early life in retreat, but this quickly changes. He soon
grows into a savage and voluminous beast as a direct result of his persecution and mistreatment
by human and dog alike. The concept of eat or be eaten has been so perfectly been ingrained into
his system, that he loses any speck of compassion or kindness that was ever in him and becomes a
terrible killing machine. Whenever he sees he has the advantage over another living thing, he
exploits it and drops the creature dead in its tracks.
White Fang s reign of terror, however, only lasts until he encounters a stronger and more
formidable foe. Weedon Scott, a mining expert during the gold rush, narrowly saves him from the
jaws of a pitbull and teaches him one final lesson. This is that

the high culture of the nineteen twenty s was characterized by the expression of the artists.
Also in the nineteen twenty s the pop culture thrived, movies were popular; radio became a form of
entertainment and jazz developed as a new form of music.
During this time people were distinguished by conflicts. Prohibition was passed, however it was
not enforced. Prohibition was put in place to stop the sale, manufacture or transport of illegal
alcoholic beverages. It was design to stop people from drinking, but it just created a large number
of bootleggers who supplied the public with illegal alcohol. Many of these bootleggers became rich

cars and radios improve life of the American people. With this added technology the economy
experienced tremendous growth. The nation s income rose from seventy four billion to eighty nine

Orcas in Captivity It s a average, nice summer day and you and your family decide to see killer

fascinated by their large size. Killer whales, or orca whales, are large marine mammals that can
be found in every ocean around the world. They can swim for hundred of miles and routinely
dive up to 300 ft ( Should Orca Whales Be Kept in Captivity ). They also live in large family
groups known as pods that they will rarely ever leave. Seeing these large animals in the tanks
that they make seem small due to their large size and with other whales along with marks,
mainly bite marks and flopped over dorsal fin for the males, make it questionable if they even
should be here and if these other whales are family in the seemingly makeshift pod. Orcas

them are taken from their homes in the wild where their true family is. Orca whales should not
be in captivity because of health issues they face in captivity. Some people believe orcas should
be in captivity because they are safe from hunters. Also data on breeding and reproduction can be

captivity. According to the article ( Should Orca Whales Be Kept in Captivity ) it states, Orca

Fashion Trends In The 1920s

Such a remarkable shift would not be possible without huge effect Hollywood had made on fashion

After the flourishing 1920s, the new decade made the clothing trends more streamlined. Still,
famous Paris designers (Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet among others),
wealthy socialites, and Hollywood actors (Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper) took the lead in
determining the most popular fashion designs. However, over the decade of the Great Depression
lasting from 1929 until 1941, most people could not benefit from the new styles and bold fashion
experiments introduced by the wealthy. Nonetheless, even in those realities people managed to
benefit from several trends and enjoy the new fashions. Most often, under harsh circumstances,
ordinary people came up with their own clothes that required less fabric and were less costly. The
adverse economic effects provoked the launch of the advanced ready to wear clothing industry
across the United States capable of producing and selling a wide range of affordable clothes of
various styles and sizes. Given growing demand, the manufacturers imitated the latest Paris fashions
with cheap copies. Rayon and cotton were the cheap fabrics that enabled the supply of new clothing
lines (Scheips 2007).
With the beginning of the World War II in 1939, people have reconsidered their dressing patterns.
Naturally, the clothes became more rational and limited in design. The Nazi occupation of Paris
dramatically shifted the trends in the western fashion

There are different themes which were identified using qualitative techniques and theoretical
models were used to decipher the data acquired. 2.1. Cost Benefits: The main criterion for
selecting possible alternatives for travel was the reduction and efficiency in cost (Decorla souza

of this theme is to identify the platform for effective optimization of alternatives to travel. 2.2.
Accessibility: It is important for all personnel to perform to their maximum level and getting access
to technology emerged to be an important aspect on possibilities for travel alternatives (Burrus ,

Vladimir Lenin And The Bolshevik Revolution
According to the History.com Staff, The October Revolution began on November 6 and 7, 1917
(or October 24 and 25 on the Julian calendar). (Russian Revolution ). The October Revolution has
also been called the Bolshevik Revolution since the Bolshevik Party played a crucial role in the
revolution. The leader of the Bolshevik Party, Vladimir Leninwas a big supporter of Karl Marx.
Another Marxist who leads this revolution was Leon Trotsky. In an article by the History.com
Staff, Lenin had created an, almost, bloodless coup d Г©tat against the provisional government. (
Russian Revolution ). The Bolshevik revolution started when, Alexander Kerensky, rather than
follow an order. On October 24th, Kerensky ordered troops that were loyal, to act against the
Bolshevik. Encyclopædia Britannica tells us that, Kerensky was a socialist revolutionary who
served as head of the Russian Provisional Government. ( Aleksandr Kerensky ).
According to History.com Staff, The provisional government had created a group of leaders from
Russia s bourgeois capitalist class. Lenin would alternatively call for a Soviet state that would be
controlled directly by councils of workers, peasants, and soldiers. ( Russian Revolution ). Both
decided that the Soviets was going to be a useful instrument in the next revolution. They didn t want
the Soviets to have all the power until they could control them. In the book, Rise and fall of
Communism 2009, Archie Brown shows us that, On 12 October, according to the old calendar,
Trotsky took command of the Military Revolutionary Committee of the Petrograd Soviet and on
25 October...the Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd (Brown 51). Insurrection was to start, but
there were complications with the date set. In the book, The History of the Russian Revolution
1960, Leon Trotsky says, At a session of the Petrograd Soviet on the 18th, Trotsky, in answer to a
question raised by the enemy, declared that the Soviet had not set a date for an insurrection, in the
coming days, but that if it became necessary to set one, the workers and soldiers would come out
as one man (Trotsky 162). There were forty thousand workers in the army of Petrograd.

Pop Culture Vs American Popular Culture
From the beginnings of its first mentioning, back in the late 20th century, the popular culture gained
the status of a global mainstream, allowing it to have a greater impact on most of the Western
countries. Although it is often used as a term in general, almost every country in the Western
culture has its own pop culture that usually dominates only in their country. However, one type of
popular culture found ways to dominate, not only in their own territory, but also around the whole
globe: American pop culture. (McGaha, 2015) Being one of the first countries to develop pop

The Emperor s New Clothes Essay
Hans Christian Andersen s fable, The Emperor s New Clothes is a prophetic warning for our
generation. He understood 200 years ago how dangerous the contradiction of beliefs may be. In
order to have justice we need truth. Justice, in society today is presented as seemingly the most
important value, a cornerstone of civilization. At the same time people have stopped believing in
absolute truth. In the story, the townspeople decide whether or not they see the emperor s clothes,
just like society attempts to change the understanding of truth from objective to a relative one,
based on individual point of view. The tailors in the fable convince the town that only the wise are

web of lies to change public opinion. Nowadays the bubble zones around abortion clinics prevent
pro life counselors from informing parents about the dangers of abortion. At the same time, secular
media mostly ignores pro life awareness projects, and presents an exclusively biased pro abortion
point of view. The many lies about abortion are created to convince everyone that the procedure is
completely harmless, normal, and should be accepted as a basic human right. Pro choice activists

Health risks include hemorrhage, infections, a higher risk of breast cancer and even death.
Abortion not only harms the woman physically, but can also have a lifelong emotional and mental
fallout on the whole family. In masking evil as good, society distorts the truth in the abortion

Meditation Essay On Meditation
Buddhist Meditation is a practice that consists of the channeling of the flow of the mind.
Habitually, our mind is consistently trying to create certain habits and patterns and many of the
time these patterns are developed without our knowledge. Yet, meditation makes us aware of these
habitual patterns through mindfulness, right concentration, and the middle way fostering the goals
of knowing the mind, shaping the mind, and freeing the mind.
One of the main goals of Buddhist meditation includes the idea of the middle way the creative and

Mindfulness uses direct observation to see through perverted conceptions/views and invalidate

The significance of these two practices are that they allow us to achieve the four factors for spiritual

Allport argued that the key to resolving conflict was better interaction between members. The
foundation of this argument is that interaction consolidates a feeling of group identity resulting in
stronger bonds between group members and encourages friendships. In this way, if we examine
Allport s theory with reference to Guirdham s, we could see that team members might be less
likely to abuse group norms. However, one problem that could arise as a follow on from
encouraging team members to become friendly with one another is the idea of groupthink, which I
shall discuss shortly.
The second advantage I am going to discuss is that group members all motivate one another. In
order to provide evidence for this statement it is necessary to re examine one of the theories
mentioned earlier; Group norms (Guirdham, 1995). Guirdham suggests that every team member is
encouraged to adopt these four norms which encourages stronger bonds between the team
members and can convert simple group members into friends. This therefore leads to an
environment in which everybody gets along. However, it could be argued that there are two major
consequences and disadvantages that may arise through this type of approach. I already touched
upon the first one; somebody in the group may abuse the group norms and morale may be lowered.
The second is the idea of groupthink (Janis, 1972). Groupthink is the idea that in an environment
where people are too friendly, they do

Importance Of Organic Growth
A business can develop by organic growth or inorganic growth a. Organic Growth: Organic
growth in business refers to a company expanding its business through the use of its own
resources and assets. Growing organically means a company expands without the use of mergers
and acquisitions or other takeovers. An emphasis on organic growth is valued by many
executives and investors since it shows a long term, solid commitment to building the business.
Organic growth can also be negative, meaning the company s business is actually contracting.
Investors look at organic growth numbers to see if a company is increasing sales and revenues
and if those increases are sustainable over the long term. Significance Organic growth shows how
well management of a company is utilizing internal resources to increase sales and output.
Mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers can provide an artificial boost to a company s sales and
revenue figures; this can cloud the picture of how the company is managing its resources. By
focusing on the organic growth of the company, executives and investors can see exactly how the
company is meeting its goals through its own internal means. Workforce Issues Many executives
prefer to grow their companies organically due to the complexity and organizational issues that
result from mergers and acquisitions. One major issue is the effect of merging two company s
workforces, which can often result in culture clashes and morale issues. Employees can resist

Pathway Of Igf-1 Pathway
The insulin/IGF 1 pathway which plays a major role in the control of lifespan and aging in animals
and humans includes a lot of genes if any gene transformed with single mutation the IGF 1 pathway
can increase lifespan and cause human longevity to remain active and youthful much longer than
normal. As in different species, yeast, nematodes and fruit flies there are genes homologous with
mammalian genes that control in IGF 1 pathway and mutation in any one of them may be affected
on lifespan (Tatar et al., 2003). In the study of model organisms, it was found that the IGF 1
pathway consists of ligands, receptors, insulin receptor substrates, phosphoinositol 3 kinase (PI3K)
system, AKT kinases, and forkhead transcriptional factors.

These pathways are more complex than invertebrate. Mutations that in GH deficiency or in growth
hormone receptors cause decreased size, lower insulin levels, increased stress resistance and
extend lifespan (Bartke, 2008). Whereas GH is mediated through IGF 1 and effect on lifespan in
these mice may be mediated by this pathway. Heterozygous deletion mutations of the IGF 1
receptor (IGF1R) gene causes a little reduction in size but a similar phenotype of improved stress
resistance and longevity in females only (Holzenberger et al., 2003). But in dogs, there is no
evidence that IGF 1 signaling regulates lifespan because dog breeds have a strong inverse
correlation with body size (Patronek et al., 1997). Derangement of the insulin receptor (INSR) gene
in most tissues leads to insulin resistance and shortened lifespan in mice (Okamoto and Accili,
2003); but homozygous deletion mutation in this gene specific to fat cells have the extended
lifespan in both sexes (Bluher et al., 2003). These results indicate that tissue specific effects are
important for these pathways. Where a knockout of the downstream signaling adapter protein
(IRS1) also resulted in increased lifespan (Selman et al., 2008).
There are several mechanisms demonstrated that the IGF 1 may affect aging with DAF 16/FOXO
which stimulates the transcription of heat shock protein genes that related to stress resistance
(Murphy et al., 2003). Moreover, FOXO3A gene can operate as a checkpoint on cell cycle

The American Journal of sports med conducted entitled, Deficiencies in pitching biomechanics in
baseball players with a history of superior labrum anterior posterior repair. The purpose of this
study was to determine if a group of baseball pitchers with previous Superior labrum anterior to
posterior (SLAP) shoulder repairs would display decreased range of motion, specifically, shoulder
external rotation and horizontal abduction, as compared to a non surgical athletes during pitching.
A controlled laboratory study was performed and included a group of 13 collegiate and
professional pitchers with history of slap tear and a controlled group of 52 pitchers without surgical
history. Groups were paired with those of matching age, height, weight and... Show more content on

This followed fastballs throws at 18.4 m from a mound at 3 different effort levels: 60%, 80%,
and full effort. Kinetic values for humeral internal rotational torque and elbow valgus load were
recorded for each throw. Repeated measures analyses of variance were used to compare all 7
throwing conditions within pitchers. Kinetic data was also compared against ball velocity to
determine throwing efficiency. A separate analysis was also conducted using a 3 level repeated
measures analysis of variances comparing just the variable effort throws from the mound. There
were significant differences in humeral IR and elbow valgus load off the mound at 60 100%. The
study showed that partial effort pitching placed lower loads on the shoulder and elbow. Flat ground
throwing had similar loads with pitching from the mound but at a significantly lower ball velocity.
The mechanical advantage of throwing from a mound or using the crow hop is likely protective
during rehabilitation and training throws. Repetitive use of the shoulder and elbow in overhead
athletes places stress and physiological limits leading to breakdown, furthermore

Sarene Character Analysis
Sarene is a protagonist in a stand alone novel by Brandon Sanderson. The world of the novel is a
fantasy world with a medieval setting that is depicted in many fantasy novels. Sarene is a
princess of the country of Teod and arranges the political marriage of herself to the prince of
Arelon. As a princess, she develops her political savvy and becomes an ambassador for her
country at a very young age. Sarene diverges further from the typical female royal of this world, as
she is an accomplished fencer and scholar. The country of Arelon is an oppressive monarchy with a
controlling patriarchal system. Sarene uses this to her advantage in many situations, playing with
the genderexpectations of the various male characters that she faces. An example... Show more

Sarene is presented as a brusque character that can rub people the wrong way and alter perceptions
because of her physical appearance of striking height. Sarene sees her inability to marry previously
as due to a reluctance to have a more intelligent wife from her potential partners. This might sound
arrogant when spoken by the character, but several characters throughout the novel reiterate the
truth of the sentiment. This intelligence is what helps Sarene to establish a better place for women
in Arelon. Sarene does not abandon her femininity or reject all customs of woman during this time.
Nor does she change her sarcastic and curt nature for a more assimilating personality in her
everyday interactions. Only to manipulate does Sarene use an altered persona that so greatly
differs from her own. This unapologetic representation of a manipulative and politically savvy
female characters sets Sarene apart from the overly righteous female savior that can be seen in
many female driven stories. The story depicts romance, but this is such a small aspect of the story
and of Sarene s character that it does not impact Sarene s impact in the genre or character type. The
warrior princess archetype is transformed with the clever fencing

Critical Analysis Of Alexis De Tocqueville s Democracy In...
Throughout the course of the semester, we spent numerous hours as a class learning, analyzing,
and discussing about various tyrannical powers, equality vs inequality, freedom vs enslavement,
the visible dangers of government and society, along with other crucial themes that involve
societies back then till societies today. It was not until we got have way through the semester,
that we acknowledged one philosopher s work more than anyone else s. His name was Alexis De
Tocqueville and he was most notably known for being a French diplomat, a political scientist and a
famous historian. We spent over a quarter of our semester discussing his work Democracyin
America because it was possibly one of the most accurate representations of our culture. Honestly,
at first glance I would have disagreed with most Tocqueville s ideas and opinions. Until, I
examined his beliefs further and realized how correct he was. He managed to pinpoint America s
democracy perfectly, along with managing the risk that come with it. His emphasis throughout the
book, is the obliviousness of the American people towards the negative effects that democracy has
on one s culture, while also offering solutions to the problem, so we can become civilized and
humanized people instead of being industrial animals.
In the middle of his novel, Tocqueville makes this major claim I do not say that at the present time
frequent use is made of tyranny in America I say, No guarantee against [tyranny] may be discovered

The Gateway To Freedom Analysis
The Gateway to Freedom is an enticing novel that gives further knowledge of racial discrimination
and the social inequality of blacks at the time of slavery and how the Underground Railroad
combatted this through the different committees and activists of the time. This essay will focus on
how the Underground Railroad affected family, economy and religion the social institutions, those
who operated the Underground Railroad were diverse and have different reason for following the
abolitionist movement, and not all the committees are made equally. According to Foner, the author
of The Gateway to Freedom, there was a direct correlation between free blacks and fugitive slaves
presence in the antislavery movement. Many people from many backgrounds helped fugitive slaves
and the abolitionist development. There are many different actions abolitionists took to further their
cause; some of the abolitionists were politicians, for example, William H. Seward and Thaddeus
Stevens (19). Those who facilitated the U.R. fought for the abolitionist movement, they helped
using many different means. Whether it dealt with the Underground Railroad directly or indirectly
many abolitionists took part in helping. Some devoted their livelihood and found a job within the
committees, for example being a lawyer or newspaper editor, some people elected their own time
while still holding a job outside of the movement. Referring to the Underground Railroad, David
Ruggles, a fugitive and abolitionist,

For Conducting Risk Assessments
Stephen J. Donnellon
Walsh College of Accountancy and Business
Abstract
The information age has brought with it the need to secure computer networks against unauthorized
access, data manipulation and identification protection. There is no such thing as 100% secure or if
an attacker wants something bad enough they will get it , is heard often when information
assurance is discussed. In fact, as one Information Security professional well knows, when a
defense is developed to stop the breach, the enemy exhausts all means to find another way to get to
the information/data or the golden nugget . This game of cat and mouse is no more omnipresent
than in the field of Risk Management. One of the many important tools used to fight the good fight
against nefarious groups is the Risk Assessment. The risk assessment application being developed
is no stranger to these cyber delinquents and is developed with a blend of the top recommendations
from the various agencies. The RAAPP will increase the feasibility of conducting a risk assessment;
thereby increasing the frequency risk assessments are conducted in order to fortify operations and
protect the golden nugget .
Discussion
Information security breach vulnerabilities are growing at a rapid rate with no end in sight. The
threat is migrating from financial, healthcare and business industries to the home as every new

Republican Party Beliefs
The Republican Party believes in conservatism and traditional practices. They are strongly
opposed to same sex marriage and feel that heterosexual marriage is the only right way.
Republicans feel that the only ways to economic profit are free market and individual achievement.
In addition they oppose high tax rates for the wealthy and believe raising the minimum wage is
going to directly hurt the economy. Republicans wish to see increased funding and modernization
to the military. In their eyes, a strong defense system is the only way to peace. The Republican Party
would like a large reform in social security and want workers to control their own retirement
investments.
On the other hand, the Democratic Party generally supports workers rights and government
programs to help people in need. The democrats are for same sex marriage and fight for their
equality. They feel that our economy should help everyone not just the wealthy, and that big
business and corporations pay their fair share of taxes. In addition, they want to prevent business
from taking advantage of the public. Democrats feel that there are better ways to make peace with
terrorism such as through diplomacy and only using force when necessary. They also believe that

should be rewarded, and each one of us should be able to go as far as our talent and drive take
us. I also agree with their view on homeland security. I do not believe that violence is the only
answer to making peace. Democrats believe we should not have to give up certain freedoms just
to keep our country safe, and I feel the same way. We are far too advanced and have so much
intelligence now that we should not have to give up our

Fallacious Arguments in the Declaration of Independence The Declaration of Independence is among the most profoundly interpreted and fiercely discussed documents in modern history. Most likely because of its rhetorical style and numerous fallacious arguments that are found. The colonists use of persuasion to influence by using repetition to achieve their means. The Declaration of Independence is what 56 colonists saw as a logical course of action. What you must ask yourself is: What was considered logical in 1776? The rhetorical style uses persuasive ideals in the use of language. For example, in the first sentence of the second paragraph, the parallel structure and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The primarily fallacious argument is that of general rule, assuming that something is true in general in every possible case. for example, the first sentence in the second paragraph that evokes a partial truth that all men are created equal. When in fact the writers mean that only white land owners were considered equal because they didn t consider black men to be humans much less women to equal as well. So saying We hold these truths... is ironic because it is in fact not true in their minds that all men are created equal. The second fallacious argument, as the Ad Hominem. Which is that of attacking of the person instead of the his argument. This is because the list of grievances in the second part of the document. The redundancy of He has with only judgment from the colonist point of view because of course they are not aware of the the Kings point of view because they are not the King. Therefore, the Ad Hominem is the correct argument in this case due to the attack towards King, not his argument. The affects of the the arguments have both negative and positive outcomes depending on how you perceive them. • 3. Analysis Of The Niger Delta And Its Past Struggles With... Case Summary What has occurred in the Niger Delta is linked to its past struggles with military rule transitioning to democratic rule, which often ends in a military regime taking control nonetheless. From the start of its independence, Nigeria has slowly grown in its dependence on oil as it s main economic revenue stream. Before the discovery of oil, the state had yam and cassava crops, palm oil, rubber, and lumbers that provided economic revenue, though modest (Jike, V.T. 2004). However once oil was found in 1956 and Independence in 1960, Nigeriahas not only relinquished vast tracts of land to International Oil Companies (IOC) such as Royal Dutch Shell (later named Shell PetroleumDevelopment Company), ExxonMobil, Chevron Texaco, and ENI, but it has left the companies to conduct their extraction methods as they see fit (Imobighe, T. A. (n.d.); Kadafa, A.A. 2012). In 2006, the Oil Spill Intelligence Report stated, Shell Nigeria is accused of using double standards , referring to the outdated equipment and unethical methods Shell practices. The Niger Delta has experienced 50 years of oil spills since the beginning of oil production due to oil pipelines that are no longer in use leaking up to $10 million worth of oil a day as reported by Shell. Shell has thus been accused of using outdated and old equipment in the Delta they know they wouldn t dare use in the other countries they operate in. Food is a source of energy intake as it contains carbohydrates; there main function is to store energy in the muscles. The proportion of body fat can be calculated due to the current flowing through the parts of the body that are made up of mostly of water such as blood, urine and muscle this is not possible through bone, fat and air. By doing this it is possible to work out how much body fat the person has by combining the bioelectric impendence measurement with factors such as gender, age, height, weight, and fitness level. (100 words) Hydro densitometry Hydro densitometry (which is also known as hydrostatic weighing) is weighing someone while they are in water, it is considered to be the most accurate form of measuring body fat. A very large tank of water is used for this test, firstly a comparison is made between the underwater weight and the dry weight of a person. Due to fat being less dense than the other tissues in the body, it floats more easily. The more fat a person has on their body, the greater the difference between the dry and wet weights. While this method of measuring is very accurate and considered the best way of measuring body fat, not many people use this method because the equipment and test is highly expensive. (100 words) ... The average Roman Domus contained a Vestibulum, Taberna, Atrium, Tablinum, Trinclinium, Peristylium, Exedra and several alae and cubiculums. However, the Domus was not just a place where wealthy families lived. It was also a place of business and religious ceremonies. Roman Domuses were usually built so that that they did not face the street. In fact, they often had walls separating them from the street and nearby Domuses. The seventh room of the Roman Domus was the Exedra. The Exedra was located right next to the Peristylium, and was a formal dining room. It was used for lavish dinner parties and events. Often, the Exedra was decorated with a garden or nature theme. For example, one might find an Exedra decorated with mosaics of nature god or goddess. The next room of the Domus is the Culina. The Culina was the kitchen. Located in a small corner of the house, it was usually dark and poorly ventilated. Socrates Was An Athens A Greek Philosopher Michael Kline Professor Copley Philosophy October 6,2015 Socrates was an Athens, Greece born man, who is credited as one of the main founders of Western Philosophy. Socrates never wrote any of his thoughts and experiences down, so we just know and analyze Socrates through the dialogues of his greatest apostle, Plato. Although, the dialogues written by Plato are not totally focused on summarizing Socrates life, but more about his teachings and examining of others, you never really learn how Socrates lived in an everyday life. He appeared to be a very simple man, with not many possessions or riches to his name. Socrates never did participate in political reform in Greece, but rather choose to converse with every day Athenians to analyze and instruct them about virtue and examination. He based his life off the simplicity of understanding virtues and the search for wisdom. His quest for wisdom and the instruction of others through dialogue seem to be Socrates most important aim in life. His questioning and examining ended up getting him in trouble, as explained through The Apology, Socrates was brought in front of a jury with charges of not recognizing the gods recognized by the state, of inventing new deities, and of corrupting the youth of Athens. The case ended with him being charged as guilty, and instead of accepting exile for this rest of his life; he chose death by drinking hemlock poison. • 13. Case Study On Garment Industry Case Study 1 The study was carried out on the production facility of a T shirt based garment industry in India. The current system used by the garment industry is Progressive bundling system (PBS). High amount of WIP causes high throughout time as well as the rework time which will also makes the line balancing different with a lot of hidden defects in the products. Besides that, the factory manufactures the t shirt in small order size with a lot of styles. Summary and Response of 2b or Not 2b Essay Zhang 1 Hao Zhang Professor Warmbold English 120, Section 06 24 March 2013 In the article 2b or not 2b , David Crystal begins with discussing how others such as John Humphry argued that texters are vandals who are doing to our language what Genghis Khan did to his neighbors 800 years ago. They are destroying it (335). This is also the common belief of most people. People often argue about the bad points of technology over our language. Children s literacy comes from their parents, their teachers rather than texting messages. Personally, I often abbreviate my words when I send messages. I type u for you, cos for because, 2moro for tomorrow, gdnite for goodnight, etc. I don t think these will affect my sensitivity to standard English because I just use abbreviations for typing faster. The invention of SMS itself is for people to contact more convenient. By using abbreviations, I can save time and energy, which is adapted to the fast paced life in New York City. In the article, Crystal states that, English has had abbreviated words ever since it began to be written down (339). Some abbreviations have become their own words over the years. • 40. Pop Culture Vs American Popular Culture From the beginnings of its first mentioning, back in the late 20th century, the popular culture gained the status of a global mainstream, allowing it to have a greater impact on most of the Western countries. Although it is often used as a term in general, almost every country in the Western culture has its own pop culture that usually dominates only in their country. However, one type of popular culture found ways to dominate, not only in their own territory, but also around the whole globe: American pop culture. (McGaha, 2015) Being one of the first countries to develop pop culture, the US popular culture grew enormously in the last couple of years, and most of all movies. Although many people read those reviews, most of them will still not be stopped from watching the movies, then the cultural impact most of the American movies can be seen in the inner circles of individuals. If the movie is being shared online, talked a lot about it or seen advertised everywhere, no bad critic will stop the people from watching it. To sum up, American movies released in the 21st century are a huge part of the popular culture around the world. Despite the already mentioned characteristics, further researching is to be made when talking about such a wide topic. • 41. The Emperor s New Clothes Essay Hans Christian Andersen s fable, The Emperor s New Clothes is a prophetic warning for our generation. He understood 200 years ago how dangerous the contradiction of beliefs may be. In order to have justice we need truth. Justice, in society today is presented as seemingly the most important value, a cornerstone of civilization. At the same time people have stopped believing in absolute truth. In the story, the townspeople decide whether or not they see the emperor s clothes, just like society attempts to change the understanding of truth from objective to a relative one, based on individual point of view. This dramatic change was achieved by a carefully designed campaign using courts, media, and a web of lies to change public opinion. Nowadays the bubble zones around abortion clinics prevent pro life counselors from informing parents about the dangers of abortion. At the same time, secular media mostly ignores pro life awareness projects, and presents an exclusively biased pro abortion point of view. The many lies about abortion are created to convince everyone that the procedure is completely harmless, normal, and should be accepted as a basic human right. Pro choice activists promote abortion as an insignificant surgical procedure contrary to established scientific facts. Health risks include hemorrhage, infections, a higher risk of breast cancer and even death. Abortion not only harms the woman physically, but can also have a lifelong emotional and mental fallout on the whole family. In masking evil as good, society distorts the truth in the abortion debate, and since truth is a requirement for justice, we need to reveal it. Habitually, our mind is consistently trying to create certain habits and patterns and many of the time these patterns are developed without our knowledge. Yet, meditation makes us aware of these habitual patterns through mindfulness, right concentration, and the middle way fostering the goals of knowing the mind, shaping the mind, and freeing the mind. The significance of these two practices are that they allow us to achieve the four factors for spiritual growth: association with admirable people, listening to the Dhamma (the teaching of Buddha), wise reflection, and practice in accordance with the Dhamma. Mindfulness is not simply an incorporation of the body, mind, feeling, and Dhamma it involves distinguishing what is wholesome and what is unwholesome, as well as the discernment of impermanence. (Cohen Mohrman, 1995) Teamwork is used everyday, everywhere in business organisations. It is an important way of bringing people together, developing stronger bonds between members and quickly tackling large projects. There have been many theorists who have developed conflicting theories regarding the pros and cons of working in teams, thus the ageing problem in hand is firstly being able to identify these advantages and disadvantages, and secondly trying to find solutions to reducing or avoiding these disadvantages. The ability to do this is of paramount importance for leaders everywhere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Allport argued that the key to resolving conflict was better interaction between members. The foundation of this argument is that interaction consolidates a feeling of group identity resulting in stronger bonds between group members and encourages friendships. In this way, if we examine Allport s theory with reference to Guirdham s, we could see that team members might be less likely to abuse group norms. However, one problem that could arise as a follow on from encouraging team members to become friendly with one another is the idea of groupthink, which I shall discuss shortly. The second advantage I am going to discuss is that group members all motivate one another. In order to provide evidence for this statement it is necessary to re examine one of the theories mentioned earlier; Group norms (Guirdham, 1995). Guirdham suggests that every team member is encouraged to adopt these four norms which encourages stronger bonds between the team members and can convert simple group members into friends. This therefore leads to an environment in which everybody gets along. However, it could be argued that there are two major consequences and disadvantages that may arise through this type of approach. I already touched upon the first one; somebody in the group may abuse the group norms and morale may be lowered. The second is the idea of groupthink (Janis, 1972). • 45. Importance Of Organic Growth A business can develop by organic growth or inorganic growth a. Organic Growth: Organic growth in business refers to a company expanding its business through the use of its own resources and assets. Growing organically means a company expands without the use of mergers and acquisitions or other takeovers. An emphasis on organic growth is valued by many executives and investors since it shows a long term, solid commitment to building the business. Organic growth can also be negative, meaning the company s business is actually contracting. Investors look at organic growth numbers to see if a company is increasing sales and revenues and if those increases are sustainable over the long term. Significance Organic growth shows how well management of a company is utilizing internal resources to increase sales and output. Mergers, acquisitions, and takeovers can provide an artificial boost to a company s sales and revenue figures; this can cloud the picture of how the company is managing its resources. By focusing on the organic growth of the company, executives and investors can see exactly how the company is meeting its goals through its own internal means. Workforce Issues Many executives prefer to grow their companies organically due to the complexity and organizational issues that result from mergers and acquisitions. One major issue is the effect of merging two company s workforces, which can often result in culture clashes and morale issues. Employees can resist changes in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As in different species, yeast, nematodes and fruit flies there are genes homologous with mammalian genes that control in IGF 1 pathway and mutation in any one of them may be affected on lifespan (Tatar et al., 2003). Mutations that in GH deficiency or in growth hormone receptors cause decreased size, lower insulin levels, increased stress resistance and extend lifespan (Bartke, 2008). Whereas GH is mediated through IGF 1 and effect on lifespan in these mice may be mediated by this pathway. Heterozygous deletion mutations of the IGF 1 receptor (IGF1R) gene causes a little reduction in size but a similar phenotype of improved stress resistance and longevity in females only (Holzenberger et al., 2003). But in dogs, there is no evidence that IGF 1 signaling regulates lifespan because dog breeds have a strong inverse correlation with body size (Patronek et al., 1997). Derangement of the insulin receptor (INSR) gene in most tissues leads to insulin resistance and shortened lifespan in mice (Okamoto and Accili, 2003); but homozygous deletion mutation in this gene specific to fat cells have the extended lifespan in both sexes (Bluher et al., 2003). These results indicate that tissue specific effects are important for these pathways. Where a knockout of the downstream signaling adapter protein (IRS1) also resulted in increased lifespan (Selman et al., 2008). There are several mechanisms demonstrated that the IGF 1 may affect aging with DAF 16/FOXO which stimulates the transcription of heat shock protein genes that related to stress resistance (Murphy et al., 2003).
