This seminar discussed how medicinal plants from tropical forests can be used as natural medicines for humans. It explored how technologies have evolved to fight diseases and how animals self-medicate. The seminar introduced a case study on cyclopia, a fetal defect caused by the plant Veratrum californicum, which stops DNA replication. A second case examined the relationship between the liver and pancreas in digestion and insulin. The research aims to provide new perspectives on treating diseases using natural remedies from plants.
