This seminar discussed how tropical forests are an epicenter of natural medicines, containing many medicinal plants that can treat diseases. The seminar explored how technologies have evolved to fight infections and how animals self-medicate by instinct. It also introduced a case study on cyclopia, a birth defect caused by the plant Veratrum californicum stopping DNA replication. Finally, the research provided a new perspective on treating diseases globally using natural remedies found in forests.
