1. The audience for our opening can vary, our audience is aimed at both females and males.
Crime-thrillers interest young adultsas theyget passionateabout the stereotypesand the
atmosphere.
Comparing our audience to a demographicchart, our audience wouldfit into categoryC1 as
thiscategorywould be interested in thetwisted narrative. Demographicchartsare based
on gender, age, joband income, education, locationand religion. The advantagesof this is
that theinformation about groupsis easilyaccessible and easy to categorise-simple and
distinct.
Yet thedisadvantages are that thegroups overlap and thejobsare too oldfashioned as
new jobs can’t easily be classed.
The personalitytypefrom thephyscographicchart represents the different lifestyles and
personalities. Our audience’s personalityfit into the‘explorers’ as theyseek to discover and
seek energy. Which is something our opening gives.
Looking at Seven’s Rotten Tomatoesreviews thereviews
are dominantlymale orientated. This hints towards the
gender that wouldbe mainly interested in our opening as
it is similar. There is a similar audience pattern with
ShutterIsland reviews as well.
The agerating for Seven was an 18+ as it contained strong
violence and language, Seven also included scenes of
severe torture. We decided to make our film opening a 15+
as it doesn’t include scenes of sexual nature or extreme
violence so thought it was appropriateto show to a
slightlyyoungeraudience, yet it is stilltoo graphicfor ages
belowa 15+ as we included slight graphicimages: eg: The
missing thumb, journal filled with disturbing images.
