Tampa BSides - Chef's Tour of Microsoft Security Adoption Framework (SAF)
Question 4
1. Who would be your audience for your media product?
2. This is our audience profile.
We came up with this by
putting together ideas of who
we thought would be
interested and would want to watch our film.
We aimed our product at an active audience
because it is an indie film and will not be
available worldwide. The audience will have to
seek for the product itself.
3.
We have aimed our product at 15-35 year olds.
We were originally thinking of aiming it
towards older teenagers, as we know the
target audience best and would know what
would appeal to them. However we decided
to broaden this to 15-35 as our characters
would be in this age range, meaning the
audience will be able to relate to the
characters.
4.
Our product was aimed primarily at males as
we were made aware in our audience research
that males are more likely to enjoy the genre
as it includes action, a fast pace and scary and
suspenseful elements. Also, the characters we
had come up with were all intended to be
male.
5.
The target audience of our project were
people living in urban areas of Britain. The
characters are all English so it is more
relatable for the target audience and it is
filmed in England.
6.
Our product is primarily aimed at white
people. The racial empathy gap theory states
that different races find it harder to empathise
a person from a different race. As the main
ethnic group in the UK is white, we did not
think it would be essential to try and appeal to
other ethnic groups as our product was aimed
at people from the UK.
7.
We aimed our product at a range of socioeconomic backgrounds. For example, we
intended to include a young juvenile,
negatively representing the lower side of the
scale, such as E, unemployed and D2. We also
knew we were going to include a high-ranking
policeman/detective which may appeal to
some of the higher socio-economic rankings.
8.
In evaluation, I think our audience research
did not offer much to the creation of an
effective audience profile. If it were possible I
think it would have been better to do more
focus groups with a larger age range and
mixed gender so we had a larger range of
answers and could shape our audience profile
around a much larger sample.
