2. demographics
Demographics are statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within
it e.g. age, race and sex among others. It is frequently used as a business marketing tool
to determine the best way to reach customers and assess their behavior. Segmenting a
population by using demographics allows companies to determine the size of a potential
market. The use of demographics helps to determine whether its products and services
are being targeted to that company's most important consumers. Demographics are
broken down into six groups and labels by using a letter code. This states the income
and status of the members of each group.
Applying this to our thriller, we have decided to use the letter code E as our target
audience are students. This is due to ourselves being students and therefore, we believe
we can relate to them. They should be able to understand our ideas more than any
other audience. Paradoxically, our second target audience uses the demographic letter
code B, for more creative and media people and possibly teachers.

4. Psychographics
Psychographic segmentation divides the market into groups based on social class, lifestyle
and personality characteristics. It is based on the assumption that the types of products
and brands an individual purchases will reflect that persons characteristics and pattern of
living. It describes the audiences behavior and it helps producers understand their viewing
and spending habits.
Within our thriller, we are aiming for strugglers that seeks escape and alienation. Our
audience are those with typically lower demographics, who buys alcohol, junk food,
lottery tickets etc.
We also plan on aiming for explorers who seek discovery and are typically a younger
demographic such as students and this is our main target audience. They also value
difference and adventure.

6. Target audience
Our target audience is aimed at students and teenagers. This is
because we are in this age range ourselves and we believe we can
easily relate to this audience in many ways. This also helps the
audience understand our ideas more due to their age.
Our secondary target audience is more middle aged adults. This is
because they may also like thrillers as well as younger people
(students).
