Delhi/NCR: The Prime Minister, Shri
Narendra Modi, unveiled a plaque to mark
the laying of the foundation stone of the
Delhi-Meerut Expressway at Sector-62 in
Noida. Speaking on the occasion, the
Prime Minister recalled the role of Meerut
in the 1857 uprising for freedom from
British rule, and said that this Delhi-
Meerut Expressway would provide free-
dom from pollution.
Noting the people's aspirations for devel-
opment, the Prime Minister said good
roads were one of the first pre-requisites
for development. He said this expressway
will spur development in western Uttar
Pradesh. He recalled former Prime
Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee's vision
for connecting India through the Golden
Quadrilateral project, and through
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
The Prime Minister touched upon other
development schemes launched by the
Union Government, including the Pradhan
Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, to ensure
proper irrigation facilities for farmers.
The Prime Minister said that with the abo-
lition of interviews for Government jobs in
Class-III and Class-IV categories, the
Government is giving a unique gift to the
youth of India on January 1st, 2016.
The Prime Minister called upon all political
parties to take a resolution in 2016, that
they will let Parliament function and work
for the benefit of the poor. He said that the
people of India have elected their repre-
sentatives to discuss, debate and deliber-
ate in Parliament, and therefore, this is
their duty.
The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Ram
Naik, Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari,
Union MoS (I/C) Dr. Mahesh Sharma and
Union MoS Shri P. Radhakrishnan were
present on the occasion.

As we know that poverty is the biggest sin
to our country. Poverty is a widespread
problem in India and various methods
have been proposed to measure it. The
official measure of Indian government
before 2005 was based on food security
and it was defined from per capita expen-
diture for a person to consume enough
calories and able to pay for associated
essentials to survive.
The world bank has similarly revised its
definations and benchmarks to measure
since 1990, with $1.25 per day income on
purchasing power parity as in use from
2005 – 2013. Some semi – economic and
non- economic indices has been pro-
posed to measure poverty in India.
Poverty in India is historical reality. From
late 19th century to early 20th century
under British coloniel rule, poverty in india
intensified , peaking in 1920s. Famines
and diseases killed millions each time.
The main reason for undeveloped India is
poverty & illiteracy. After India gained
independence in 1947 everything
changed but there was no reduction in
poverty in India. Poverty is one of the
main problems in India. Today we are liv-
ing in 21st century but poverty is still
there. Today we can witness what kind
problems are faced by poor people. They
even don’t have proper shelter, no proper
clothes to wear, no food to eat . Today due
poverty poor children can’t study. Due to
high poverty they are unable to have a
bright future.
In 2012, the Indian government stated
that 21.9% of it’s population is below offi-
cial poverty limit. The world bank in 2011
based on 2005 PPPs international com-
parison program estimated 23.6% of
Indian population or about 276 million
people lived in below 1.25$ per day on
purchasing parity. Due to poverty in India
today we see various children who should
study and perform other childhood activi-
ties are being forced to perform child
labour activities and various girls are been
sent to prostitute rackets and some girls
compromise with it due to poverty. So it’s
the duity & responsibility of our govern-
ment to work on how to finish this problem
from our country.

Questions are arising that whome
we can call a journalist. There are
various persons in india and out
side india who do write articles
and are sending these articles to
News agencies,can we call these
people Journalists?If we will call
these people journalists then how
can we differentiate these people
from professionals.The person
who always remains buzy with
their work,because every journlist
wants to take the top position in
his medium weather that is print
media or Electronic media.profes-
sional journalist can be recog-
nised easily because He write or
Reports everyday to his
medium.journalists are known by
various names like Reporters,fea-
ture writers,special corspon-
dents,Sub-editors,Assitent-editors
and News editors.journalists have
unique style of working like wise
world is around them.There are
different beats in news reporting
like political beat,Business
beat,crime beat,sports beat,enter-
tainment beat,society beat,eco-
logical beat etc. There are sperate
reporters for every beat.
Journalism is an uprising
carrier, every day is different in this
field because every day some-
thing new is happining,what so
ever new is happning in our day
to day life which is worthy for
masses is News.Journalists have
the job to get the News, give the
News and make the News.first of
all journalists do know the News
because they most often remain in
the fields.sometimes common
persons of the society don't know

PMModihasforgottenhispollpromises?Vaidehi Taman
Social activist Anna Hazare dashed off another letter to Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, reminding him of his unfulfilled poll
promises and said there is “no visible difference” between his
government and the previous Congress- led UPA regime.
Hazare reminds Modi about his promise during the 2014 Lok
Sabha campaign like bringing back black money and building
a corruption-free India.
He wrote several letters to Modi after he was sworn in as a PM
of India but all his letters made headlines in media but ignored
by the government.
As a common man of this country, even we all expect Modi
should deliver the promises he made for gaining the votes.
Moreover, there are many crucial issues where BJP needs to
be serious and committed. The Uniform Civil Code would basi-
cally cover all the personal laws into one unified set of a secu-
lar law that would apply to each and every citizen of India
regardless of his/her religious community.
Government should ensure the cleanliness, purity and uninter-
rupted flow of the River Ganga on priority. In addition, a mas-
sive ‘Clean Rivers Programme’ will be launched across the
country driven by people’s participation. Set up a National
Optical-Fibre Network up to the village level; and Wi-Fi zones
in public areas. BJP has committed to initiate a mission mode
project to create 50 tourist circuits that are affordable and built
around themes like: a.) Archaeological and Heritage, b.)
Cultural and Spiritual, c.) Himalayan, d.) Desert, e.) Coastal, f.)
Medical (Ayurveda and Modern Medicine), etc. Set up a task
force to initiate the process of tracking down and bringing back
black money stashed in foreign banks and offshore accounts.
Improve Centre-State relations, ensure fiscal autonomy of
states while urging financial discipline and create ‘Regional
Councils of States’, with common problems and concerns, with
a view to seeking solutions that are applicable across a group
of states. Set up the Ministry of North-Eastern Region.
Empower Ministry with a broader charter and non-lapsable
funds for the rapid development of the region. Complete all
pending fencing work along the India-Bangladesh and India-
Myanmar border, stepping up border security. Take measures
for the safety of North-Eastern students studying across the
country including setting up Hostels for North-Eastern students
at various educational centres. Address the issue of infiltration
and illegal immigrants in the Northeast region on a priority
basis. Special emphasis on massive infrastructure develop-
ment, especially along the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal
Pradesh and Sikkim.

Nine ‘hardcore terrorists’set to be hanged in Pakistan
Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel
Sharif confirmed the death sentences on
the nine men who were sentenced for ter-
ror offences.
Muhammad Ghauri, who was an active
member of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan
(TTP), was involved in an attack on
Parade Lane Mosque, Rawalpindi, in
December 2009 that killed 38 people and
left 57 others injured, Dawn online report-
ed.
Abdul Qayyum, an active member of
Harkat-ul-Jehad-i-Islam, was involved in
the attack on Inter-Services Intelligence
(ISI) Headquarters (HQ) in Multan in
December 2009, that killed seven people.
Muhammad Imran, TTP member, and
Aksan Mehboob, al Qaeda member, were
involved in attacks on law enforcement
agencies.
The other five convicts — Adbul Rauf
Gujjar, Muhammad Hashim, Sulaman,
Shafqat Farooqi and Muhammad Farhan
— were active members of Sipah-i-
Sahaba. They were involved in the killing
of civilians in Lahore.
In 2015, 326 people were hanged after
Pakistan lifted the moratorium on the
death penalty following the December
2014 attack on Peshawar’s Army Public
School, in which over 150 — 136 of them
school children — were killed.
Muammar Gaddafi tried to engineer a ‘political’ marriage
between his second son and planned heir and one of
Russian president Vladimir Putin’s daughters, a former
advisor to the late Libyan dictator has claimed.
Gaddafi approached a bemused Putin to ask if one of his
daughters could wed his second son Saif al-Islam
Gaddafi, with the aim of strengthening ties between
Libya and Russia, Mohammed Abd El Motaleb al-Houni
told al-Arabiya.
“Gaddafi talked about it with Putin, proposing his son as
a future son-in-law, but the Russian President was taken
aback and said his daughter did not know Saif al-Islam,”
al-Houni said.
Gaddafi was ousted and killed in a NATO-back revolt in
2011. Saif al-Islam was in July sentenced to death by a
court in Tripoli in a mass trial of former regime figures
widely criticised by human rights groups.
Saif al-Islam has been in custody in the Libyan mountain
town of Zintan since he was caught trying to flee Libya in
the aftermath of the 2011 revolution. The militia holding
him has refused to hand him over.

GermanyhuntssuspectslinkedtoNewYear‘IslamicStateterrorplot’
The German police were on high alert on
Friday as they hunted for up to seven peo-
ple suspected of plotting a New Year’s Eve
suicide attack in Munich in the name of the
Islamic State group.
Police said an investigation was under way,
with 550 officers deployed to hunt down the
suspects and secure the city, warning that
the threat remained “high”.
“We still have many colleagues deployed.
There is, as before, a high threat of terror,” a
police spokesman said.
German officials said they were tipped off by
a “friendly intelligence service” about the
plan, which was to have been executed at
around midnight, said Joachim Herrmann,
interior minister for the southern state of
Bavaria.
Just 90 minutes before the southern
German city was to ring in the New Year,
police ordered the evacuation of Munich’s
main rail station and another station in the
west of the city after being tipped off about a
possible “terror attack”. Police chief
Hubertus Andrae said “five to seven” sus-
pects were believed to be involved.
Following the alert, which was issued at
10:30 pm (2130 GMT), rail services at both
stations were suspended and police urged
the public to avoid large gatherings.
Kim Jong-Un vows to raise living stan-
dards, warns foreign ‘provocateurs’
North Korean leader Kim
Jong-Un said raising living
standards was his top pri-
ority in a low-key annual
New Year’s address on
Friday that avoided any
explicit reference to the
country’s nuclear weapons
programme.
The 30-minute televised
speech was not without the
normal bellicose rhetoric
— threatening a “sacred
war” if provoked and
stressing the need to
develop “varied” military
strike options — but the
clear thrust was economic
development in the isolat-
ed, cash-strapped state.
“The Workers Party of
Korea gives top priority to
the issue of improving peo-
ple’s living standards
among millions of other
national tasks,” Kim said.
“We must create a turn-
around in economic devel-
opment,” he added. Kim
has issued similar calls in
his three previous New
Year addresses and, as on
those occasions, Friday’s
speech offered little in
terms of specific policy for
achieving his economic
objectives.
On relations with South
Korea, Kim said he was
open to talks but warned
Seoul against any activity
that might threaten a tenta-
tive cross-border agree-
ment reached in August to
reduce tensions.
In particular, he stressed
the provocative dangers
inherent in the South’s
annual joint military exer-
cises with the United
States — a perennial thorn
in North-South ties. “If
aggressors and provoca-
teurs touch us even slight-
ly, we will not hesitate to
respond with a merciless
sacred war for justice and
national reunification,” he
said. His speech came a
day after the state funeral
of North Korea’s top official
in charge of relations with
South Korea, Kim Yang-
Gon, who state media
reported as having died in
a car accident.

into the military installation in Pathankot area. In response, preparatory actions had
been taken by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to thwart any such attempt.
Due to the effective preparation and coordinated efforts by all the security agencies a
group of terrorists were detected by the aerial surveillance platforms as soon as they
entered the Air Force Station at Pathankot. The infiltrators were immediately engaged
and contained within a limited area, thus preventing them from entering the Technical

Through timely and prompt action by all agencies, the likely plan of the terrorists to

Asked about the status of ‘Madamji’, she said: “‘Madamji’ is

Hopefully, someday I will make it. But right now I am

Athiya ShettyThe other eye make-up product that she
swears by is the lash volumising mascara.”When I am
not shooting, I go minimalistic because I think it’s impor-

said the ‘Hero’ actress. For hair as well, she likes to keep
it simple. “My grandmother sits me down even today on
a Sunday and puts coconut oil on my hair. I have been
doing this ever since I can remember. So that’s my hair

likes to experiment with make-up at times.

sonnel being martyred -
including Commonwealth
Gold Medallist Fatheh
Singh and Garud
Commando Gursevak
Singh -- the terror attack
at Pathankot air base has
exacted a heavy toll
despite the advance infor-
mation about it.

New Delhi– The National
Biotechnology Development
Strategy 2015-20 was
unveiled by the Hon’ble
Minister for Science &
Technology and Earth
Sciences, Dr. Harsh
Vardhan, and the Hon’ble
Minister of State for Science
& Technology and Earth
Sciences, Shri. YS Chowdary,
in the presence of the
Secretary, Department of
Biotechnology, Dr.
VijayRaghavan and other key
stakeholders.
The National Biotechnology
Development Strategy 2015-
20 aims to establish India as
a world-class bio-manufactur-
ing hub. It intends to launch a
major mission, backed with
significant investments, for
the creation of new biotech
products, create a strong
infrastructure for R&D and
commercialization, and
empower India’s human
resources scientifically and
technologically. Said Minister
for Science & Technology and
Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh
Vardhan:
“The Department of
Biotechnology is going to
soon complete 30 years. It
has done commendable work
over the years in catalyzing
the growth of the biotechnolo-
gy industry, which has a huge
potential to positively impact
the lives of Indians in every
area, such as research, edu-
cation, health, technology,
and energy. This was sensed
a long time ago by the
Government. When Shri Atal
Bihari Vajpayee was the
prime ministry, he used to say
that while IT (information
technology) stands for ‘India
Today,’ BT (biotechnology)
stands for ‘Bharat Tomorrow.’

4Gpromotion will boost
advertising sector 15% in 2016
expected to boost the advertising industry by 10-15 per-
cent in 2016, according to Deloitte India.
"The ongoing launch of high-speed 4G data services is
set to become the next battleground for telecom firms.
The industry is expecting operators like Airtel , Vodafone
and the soon-to-be-launched Reliance Jio to spend mil-
lions of dollars on advertising over the next few months
to grab market share," Deloitte India's Ashesh Jani said
to media. He said the 4G services will also help in push-
ing the ad spends on mobile.
"Advertisers will be spending more money on video ads
on hand-held devices in 2016. Advertisers will think
mobile-first when making their digital advertising strate-
gy. With more telecom operators ready to launch 4G
services, video consumption on mobile will rise even
more, thus pushing ad spends on video ads," he said.
As per an Internet and Mobile Association of India study,
as much as 60 percent of subscribers in the country
access the net through mobile phones.
The company's
total exports reg-
istered sales of
32,771 units in the
month of
December 2015 as
against 32,969
units registered in
the month of
December 2014
Taking advantage of low valuations, domestic mutual
funds pumped in a staggering $11 billion in the stock
market during 2015 and plan to remain bullish in the New
Year to maximise the returns for their investors.
Given the sluggish trends in the real estate market and
continued fall in gold prices, the mutual fund industry
also expects to begin attracting a larger share of the
Indian households’ savings from this year.
Mutual funds invested almost $11 billion (Rs 70,716
crore) in domestic equities in 2015, more than 2.5-times
of about $4 billion infused last year, as per the latest
data. Retail money flew into equities through mutual
funds route supported the benchmark indices at a time
when the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) went on a sell-
ing spree.
Mutual Funds
FPIs were net buyers of equities to the tune of just $3.2
billion in 2015. Before that, they had invested $20 billion
each in stock markets in the preceding three years.
