New Delhi: With Rahul Gandhi
back from his nearly two-month
sabbatical, the Congress
declared an all-out war against
the NDA government for its
“anti-farmer and pro-industrial-
ist policies” at a farmers’ rally
organised in protest against the
changes made to the 2013 Land
Acquisition Bill by the BJP.
The Congress vice-president
trained his guns on Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, accus-
ing him of introducing the Land
Acquisition Ordinance in order
to pay back industrialists who
had helped him to “win the Lok
Sabha election.”
Though the rally, attended by
an estimated 80,000-strong
crowd, was billed as a come-
back for Mr. Gandhi, it did not
remain a solo show as
Congress president Sonia
Gandhi, who spoke after him,
delivered an equally sharp criti-
cism of the Modi government.
“We have come together to tell
the Modi government that this is
enough, we won’t let the farm-
ers be ignored,” Ms. Gandhi
said to loud cheers from the
crowd.
Farmers living in fear: Rahul
The farmers’ rally is the
Congress’ first major show of
strength as it bids to chart a
comeback from a series of elec-
toral defeats over the past year.
It is also intended to send a
strong message to the NDA
government ahead of the sec-
ond part of the budget session
of Parliament.
The Congress, which is the sin-
gle largest party in the Rajya
Sabha, had blocked the Modi
government’s Land Bill all of
last month and is set to do the
same when it is introduced
again. At the rally, Congress
vice-president Rahul Gandhi
sought to reiterate the
Congress’ “pro-farmer” position
when it was in power.
“Whenever the Congress gov-
ernment could help the farmers,
we did it. We waived farmers’
loans worth Rs.70,000 crore.
We brought in the MGNREGA
for the labourers. Whatever we
did, we did for the poor,” he
said. He said farmers were now
living in fear as they felt that the
government had forgotten them
and was working only for big
industrialists.

Corruption not only has become a pervasive aspect of
Indian politics but also has become an increasingly
important factor in Indian elections.
The extensive role of the Indian state in providing servic-
es and promoting economic development has always
created the opportunity for using public resources for pri-
vate benefit.
Rajiv Gandhi’s government was rocked by scandals, as
was the government of P.V. Narasimha Rao. Politicians
have become so closely identified with corruption in the
public eye that a Times of India poll of 1,554 adults in six
metropolitan cities found that 98 percent of the public is
convinced that politicians and ministers are corrupt, with
85 percent observing that corruption is on the increase.
The prominence of political corruption in India in the
1990s is hardly unique to India. Other countries also
have experienced corruption that has rocked their politi-
cal systems.Corruption in simple terms may be
described as ‘an act of bribery’. Corruption is defined as
the use of public office for private gains in a way that con-
stitutes a breach of law or a deviation from the norms of
society. Scales of corruption can be Grand, Middling or
Petty and payment of bribes can be due to collusion
between the bribe taker and the bribe giver, due to coer-
cion or even anticipatory. As government regulation of
business was extended in the 1960s and corporate
donations were banned in 1969, spread political practice.
est echelons of India’s political system.

Creative thinking skills are as much about atti-
tude and self-confidence as about talent. Who
would know this better than a management
student? Creativity is generated through a
state of mind.To touch on this aspect and to
emphasize the connection between spirituality
and management the Cultural Club at Asian
Business School, invited a very eminent per-
sonality, Swami Bodhanand Ji, the founder of
several ashrams and the Sambodh
Foundation, to deliver a talk to Students at
Asian Business School under the theme
‘Living life Creatively’. Dr Lalitya Vir Srivastava
welcomed Swamiji with a bouquet. The digni-
taries on stage included Dr Sangeeta Menon,-
Professor at National Institute of Science,Dr
BP Mathur-former member Indian Audit
&Accounts Service,and Dr Lalitya Vir
Srivastava-Director Asian Business School.
In his welcome address,Director Asian
Business School,Dr Lalitya Vir Srivastava
,informed the students
and faculty members of the journey of this bril-
liant academician in search of divinity, and invit-
ed him to address the gathering. Swami
Bodhanand Ji,initiated his talk with the belief ,
that strong emotional self-management is
often needed in order to allow creative thinking
states to emerge. It is important to be able to
cope with risk, confusion, disorder and feeling
that you are not progressing quickly. According
to him, creativity is often less ordered, struc-
tured and predictable. As you are not looking
for 'one' answer, you are likely to come up with
lots of suggestions that are not 'right'. This can
be difficult if you are more used to analytical
and logical approaches. It can also be experi-
enced as 'risky' as the prospect of making a
mistake or not coming up with an answer is
more likely. There is no limit to ways there are
of thinking creatively. Some Creative thinking
techniques suggested by SwamiJi are:
Brainstorm ideas on one topic. Ask ques-
tions such as 'what if….?' Or 'supposing….?'
Ask the same question at least twenty times
and give a different answer each time.
Combine some of the features of two differ-
ent objects or ideas to see if you can create
several more.
Change your routine. Do things a different
way..
Let your mind be influenced by new stimuli
such as music you do not usually listen to.
Be open to ideas when they are still new:
look for ways of making things work and
pushing the idea to its limits. This eminent and
powerful speaker enthralled the audience with
his masterful oratory, laced with lively humour,
giving valuable insights to the gathering,on
how to attain excellence in life,by being cre-
ative. This rare treat ended with a scintillating
question answer session,which Swami
ji,gracefully handled. Towards the end ,Swamiji
was awarded with the ‘Lifetime Membership’
of, The International Business & Marketing
Research Centre which ,was presented by Dr
Lalitya Vir Srivastava. Become a Climate
Change Mitigator Climate change is a serious
and urgent issue in the world today
As individuals, it’s easy to feel powerless in the
face of global climate change.
We can make individual choices to live with
less, and cut down on our own personal car-
bon footprint, but how do we really make a dif-
ference? To sensitize students towards the
protection of the environment and active partic-
ipation in mitigating Climate Change the
Corporate Resource Cell,at Asian Business
School, invited an eminent ,sensitive environ-
mentalist, having several ecological initiatives
under his belt, to interact with the students.Dr
KD Gupta is theEx Director personnel
CCI,Govt of India.
Dr KD Gupta was warmly welcomed by the
Director Asian Business School,Dr Lalitya Vir
Srivastava and the entire student fraternity
.Before being invited to address the students
and faculty on this raging issue ‘The
Ecological impact on the Global Economy’,his
profile was read. Dr Gupta began by saying
that we are affecting climate change as much
as it is affecting us. And this is how we are
implicated in this issue:Each time one drives a
car or truck, one is contributing to a large per-
centage of emissions, with personal trans-
portation accounting for nearly one-fifth of all
emissions. When including planes, freight,
ships, and trains, transportation as a whole
makes up nearly 30% of greenhouse gases
produced in the US.In our homes and at
the office, we use large amounts of electricity,
water treatment, waste disposal, and heating
and cooling — all utilities that create harmful
emissions when produced and supplied to us.
Electricity alone accounts for 32% of green-
house gas emissions. Commercial and resi-
dential settings contribute 10% of emissions,
while industrial production accounts for
20%.The various applications of developing
crops and animal livestock for the food we eat
are responsible for approximately 18% of
emissions produced globally.The additional
land use and forestry effects of agriculture are
also significant. .He said though it may feel like
so much is out of our control, the good news is
there is a lot of change to be made on our own
through education, teaching, and practice of
sustainability and climate change mitigation.
For years already we’ve seen how greenhouse
gases bring about rapid melting and rising sea
levels, severe weather, and health and food
risks. Unfortunately, if a global effort isn’t made
to quickly reverse our patterns of behavior,
these problems will accelerate even faster. The
dire consequences of our actions are
immediate and tangible:We are seeing
Severe weather, more severe rain,and
droughts.
Melting polar ice and glaciers
Threats to electricity supply
Flooding and rising sea levels
Disruptions to food supplies
Increased health risks
Increased forest destruction and wildfires
Plant and animal life disruptions He
added, that an education in climate change and
sustainable practices is one of the best
measures one can take to lead real and prac-
tical global change, and many people are
doing this already by implementing sustainabil-
ity into their businesses and communities.
He urged the students to be a part of this
movement toward sustainability and join the
conversation about climate change and
become pioneers in this field, to affect real
change in the sustainability of their communi-
ties, at a time when doing so is more important
than ever.
Dr Lalitya Vir Srivastava, thanked the guest for
his valuable inputs and said that it was high
time everybody woke up to the fact that the
environment needs to be conserved and taken
care of ,for the coming generations. At the
closing he presented a memento and awarded
the‘Lifetime membership’ of The International
Business & Management Research Centre to
Dr KD Gupta.

Now the revived young
Gandhi is back after medi-
tation and rejuvenation.
The fact worth appreciat-
ing about Congress is that,
everyone was tight lipped
about Rahul’s location.
Media and opposition was
hell bent on knowing the
Gandhi scion’s location
but he silently made his
way out. Social media
especially, Modi BJP sup-
porters made lots of fun
about his absence, but
Congress workers
staunchly stood by their
young leader. Rahul has
been facing severe criti-
cism ever since
Congress’s decimation in
the 2014 Lok Sabha elec-
tions in which his party
managed to win just 44
seats in the 545-member
House. His sudden
absence from the political
scene gave his rivals
another chance to ques-
tion his leadership qualities
and interest in politics.
Rahul is an ordinary MP
who has the potential of a
leader. His substantial con-
tribution both inside and
outside parliament is worth
noticing.
Every political party has its
lows and highs as the polit-
ical leader, fine his party
could not do well, and he
wanted to be out for some
time. So what’s the big
deal in it? Why so much
space is assigned for a
non-event? The country
has much larger issues or
events which merit atten-
tion of media. Why make
such a noise about his
leave? At least we know
that he was out of the
country. There are so
many Hon’ble MPs, whom
people do not even know
whether they are existing
nor not, and what are they
doing. Not a single news
item appears about them
anywhere in the media for
several months and even
years till the next election
arrives. Outraging one par-
ticular leader just because
he is born in Nehru Gandhi
family is unfair.
Rahul will be addressing a
farmers’ rally on Land Bill
issue at the Ramlila
Maidan on April 19. BJP
proposed Land Acquisition
Bill is intended to help cor-
porate bodies and deprive
the farmers their sustain-
able livelihood. The legis-
lation if implemented in its
present form will enable
corporate houses like
Adani, Ambani and Birla to
not only buy farmers land,
but they can also acquire
districts and even a state.
Rahul is back in a new avatar

Chief Minister shedding crocodile tears over
farmers’ compensation – Mr. Bhardwaj
spl. correspondent
New Delhi: Standing
Committee Chairman Mr.
Mohan Bhardwaj said that
the Delhi Government led
by Aam Aadmi Party is
shedding crocodile tears on
the issue of loss of Rabi
crops to farmers due to
unseasonal rain.
He said that if the Chief
Minister has so much sym-
pathy with the farmers than
he should announce the
compensation to the farm-
ers of Delhi for their loss
rather than demanding from
Centre to announce com-
pensation of Rs. 50,000 per
acre for aggrieved farmers.
Mr. Bhardwaj said that the
Centre has already reduced
the base of loss to 33 per-
cent and increased the
amount of compensation by
one-and-a-half times per
acre that would ensure that
suffering farmers receive
adequate compensation
amount. He further
informed that the Standing
Committee had requested
the Prime Minister vide let-
ter dated 17.03.2015 to
increase the compensation
amount as Rs. 50000 per
acre after unanimously
passing a resolution.

British-womanA British
woman, who was a mem-

believed to be leading
Islamic State (IS) jihadis in
Syria, investigators said. In
a new video footage, Sally
Jones, 45-year-old convert
to Islam, is seen urging
members of the al-
Khanssaa Brigadem, the
all-women group set up by
the IS, Mirror online report-
ed. Jones fled to Syria to
join the IS and claimed that
she wants to behead
Christians with a blunt
knife.
Jones is wanted in Britain
for numerous terror
offences. She now calls
herself Sakinah Hussain
and claims she became a
militant after “terrorist
nations” Britain and the US
invaded Iraq and killed
Muslims. In 2013, she left
for Syria with her 10-year-
old son Jojo, whom she
now calls Hamza. There
she wedded computer
hacker Junaid Hussain, 20,
who was previously jailed
for stealing former prime
minister Tony Blair’s per-

Photographs have previ-
ously emerged of the
mother-of-two from
Chatham, Kent, hiding her

dressed as a nun.“This
could be the first real evi-

Twelve people were arrested overnight as anti-foreigner
attacks in South Africa spread to parts of downtown
Johannesburg, police said.
“Twelve suspects were arrested for trying to break into
foreign-owned shops,”said police spokesman Lieutenant
Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
It was the latest incident in a wave of immigrant-targeted
violence that began earlier this month in the port city of
Durban, leaving at least six people dead.
According to local reports, the protesters from a local
hostel demanded foreign nationals leave South Africa,
setting cars alight and clashing with police.
No injuries were reported, said Dlamini.
The scene remained tense Friday morning, with hostel-
dwellers telling reporters they wanted immigrants to
know they were not welcome in the country.
President Jacob Zuma has condemned the violence in
parliament. “No amount of frustration or anger can ever
justify the attacks on foreign nationals and the looting of
their shops,” he said Thursday night.
Locals and African immigrants in South African often
compete for scarce jobs, making them a target for vio-
lence and intimidation.
Early this year, foreign shopkeepers in and around
Soweto, south of Johannesburg, were forced to vacate
their premises after violence and looting broke out.
In 2008, 62 people were killed in xenophobic violence in
Johannesburg townships.

Pope Francis is planning to visit Cuba in
September as part of a trip that will also
take him to the United States, the Vatican
announced.
“The Holy Father has taken into considera-
tion the idea of carrying out a leg to Cuba
on the occasion of his upcoming visit to the
United States” between September 22 and
27, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi
said in a statement. The 78-year-old leader
of the world’s Roman Catholics confirmed
late last year that he would visit the United
States to take part in a Catholic Church
congress in Philadelphia. During the trip,
he will also address the United Nations in
New York, become the first pontiff to
address the US Congress and will meet
with US President Barack Obama at the
White House.
The popularity of the Argentine-born pope
is soaring among Americans, according to
recent polls. A survey by the Pew Research
Center released in March showed that 90
percent of Catholic Americans thought well
of the pontiff, including 57 percent who
held a “very favourable” view of him.

Manila: Thousands of American and Filipino soldiers
will kick off expanded wargames, showcasing a deep-
ening defence alliance as alarm bells ring over China.
The 10-day exercises in the Philippines are an annual
affair between the longtime allies, but this time they will
involve double the number of soldiers as last year in a
sign of their expanding military partnership.
The Philippines is seeking more US military and diplo-
matic support to fend off China`s increasing forceful-
ness in its bid to assert sovereignty in disputed areas
of the South China Sea. In an interview last week,
Philippine President Benigno Aquino said the two mili-
taries operating side-by-side should offer a "deterrent
aspect to any entity, be it a country or Islamic radicals".
Aquino insisted the Balikatan (Shoulder-to-Shoulder)
wargames starting were not directed at China, pointing
out they were annual exercises, but he discussed at
length the Philippines` reliance on the United States.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario also said
last week the Philippines planned to ask Washington
for extra help in containing China.
"We are, at this point, seeking additional support from
the US in terms of being able to take a stronger posi-
tion, in defending our position, which is to uphold the
rule of law," del Rosario told local broadcaster. Beijing
claims sovereignty over most of the strategically impor-
tant South China Sea, including areas just off the
coasts of other Asian nations, using vague demarca-
tion lines that first appeared on Chinese maps in the
1940s. The Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and
Taiwan have overlapping claims.

Scientists said Moon was born 4.47 billion years ago
New Delhi: Scientists seem to have successfully con-
firmed the collision that led to the formation of the Earth and
the Moon took place around 4.47 billion years ago by dat-
ing the ancient impact marks on meteors that crashed on
Earth. The date of the Moon-forming clash also gives us a
better chance of reckoning when the Earth came into
being.
The study sheds more light on the collision that took place
between young Earth and its sister planet (called ‘Theia’)
during the final stages of our planet’s formation. Astronauts
have always thought that the Moon was a part of young
Earth as both their compositions are similar. There have
been theories that as a result of the clash, large chunks of
the our once young world and ‘Theia’ were hurled into
space, leading to the creation of our lunar body.
But according to the study’s researchers, along with the for-
mation of the Moon, smaller fragments were also ejected
which collided with nearby asteroid belts. The magnitude of
these collisions produced about 1000 times more heated
material as compared to normal main belt collisions. Time
and again, small asteroids from these neighboring belts
crash on earth.
For the latest project, the investigators studied the ancient
impact heating signatures in some of these stony mete-
orites that landed on our planet and modeled a time frame
for the older Moon-forming impact. Their results coincide
with earlier predictions of how our sole natural satellite was
born, dating it to around 4.47 billion years.

Pune: A group of students perusing studies in the Urdu
medium schools in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC)
will have reason to cheer. They will be able to get educa-
tion till class XII in their schools. The elected members of
PMC approved a proposal to introduce junior college in
the Urdu schools.
A proposal to start junior college at an Urdu medium
school in Yerawada was tabled before the general body
meeting. The proposal was approved and in principal
approval was also given to carry out such extension in
other Urdu schools in the city as per need and demand.
A group of corporators during the general body meeting
opposed the move. They claimed that providing junior
college education is not the responsibility of a corpora-
tion. As per law, the civic administration has to provide
only school education to students. But other group of
corporators argued that the civic administration has start-
ed English medium schools though it is not the primary
responsibility of a municipal corporation.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court sought
response from the producers and directors
of PK, starring Aamir Khan, on a plea by a
novelist accusing the makers of lifting cer-
tain portions from his book Farishta pub-
lished in 2013.
Justice Najmi Waziri asked novelist Kapil
Isapuri and the counsel appearing for film-
makers Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Raj
Kumar Hirani whether it possible that two
individuals got the same idea at same
time."Divine nature has given us such sens-
es that two individuals can in fact get a
same idea at the same time," the judge
said. The court also asked the petitioner
what would be the outcome of his plea at a
juncture when the movie had been released
and successfully screened all over the
country and how he planned to pursue the
matter. Mr Isapuri's counsel said that he
would be able to pursue the matter once the
respondents filed their replies.
The counsel for the filmmakers argued that
according to the custom and practice in
Bollywood, the script of the movie was first
registered with the Writers Association in
Mumbai on July 29, 2010 with the title Ghar
Jaana Hai.
