The Rx Group of Companies partnered with 3D3 Solutions to create a concrete
clinical solution to foot casting that combines 3D scanning technology with advance
medical theory. The foot scanner uses 3D3 Solutions’ proprietary white-light 3D
technology that scans the patient’s foot in seconds to create a digital reproduction in
the form of a 3D model. Once the foot has been scanned, the attending practitioner is
able to view the foot scan in a number of desired casting positions, enter the
corresponding orthotic prescription and instantly send the file to the laboratory for
production. This process allows for reduced in office casting supplier, and outgoing
freight charges, combined with faster turn around times.

Quicker Turn Around Time
There is no need to transport physical casts from the clinic to the laboratory as patient information
is transferred electronically.

Capture Foot Measurements in True 3D
While some systems claim to be foot scanners that scan in 3D, they are simply flatbed scanners
that generate 3D models through estimation and not through real 3D capture. 3D3 Solutions offers
3D scanners that provide authentic 3D data with highly accurate measurements.

The foot scanner will generate the repeatable results even when used by different medical
practitioners.

Foot Measurement Produced Instantly
It only takes a few seconds to scan and obtain the patient’s foot measurements which can be
analyzed immediately with the patient. Fast scan speed also prevent patients from moving during
the scanning process.

Scans Patient without Contact
The scanner scans the foot directly without any contact with the patient to ensure there is no
measurement interference.


It is important to note that the orthotics produced by this method do not
differ from the ones produced by hands on casting. The only changes are in
quality control of the negative cast during casting, shipping and lab
handling, and the time in which the cast is delivered. The same
manufacturing techniques are used to make the orthotics with cost savings
due to reduced supplies, shipping and increased turn around times.
