3D environments allow for interaction with virtual objects and other networked individuals in a simulated 3D world similar to our own. Examples of 3D environments include 3D printing, which creates physical 3D objects from digital models in successive layers; augmented reality, which enhances real-world views with supplemental computer-generated audio and visuals; and 3D films that add the illusion of depth through stereoscopic images. Holograms also create 3D images through the diffraction of light off a structured surface.
