The document describes the process of replicating the cover of a fishing magazine using Photoshop. First, an image of a fisherman holding a fish was found to use on the cover. Then, the text and fonts from the original magazine cover were replicated. Additional images like a shark and barcode were also added to match the original. Minor adjustments were made to enhance the likeness to the real magazine cover. For the final product, the document reflects that bold fonts and placing text behind a foreground image using layering will be elements included from this experiment.

3. PROCESS
• First I found a fishing magazine off of google images as requested, specifically I
found this “SPORT FISHING” magazine which seemed simple enough to replicate
using Photoshop.
• So I started by finding a fisherman (of sorts) displaying his catch to the camera and
from that search I found an image of an Asian man standing in a deep, fast flowing
river, holding his mighty fish in the air. Now this image may not completely
replicate the man pictured in the original magazine, however I thought it best to
find a different fisherman rather than to just use the original image, or strenuously
find an image that looks incredibly similar.
• Next I replicated the text and the particular fonts spread around the page, including
the main title “SPORT FISHING” which is partly obscured by the man in front, this
was done using the magnetic lasso tool where by I selected part of the man’s body,
creating a new layer in front of the text.
• Finally I added similar images dotted around the front cover of the original
magazine, including the; red and blue text boxes, the shark in the top left hand
corner and the all important barcode in the bottom right hand corner.
• Once that was done I looked over my final copy and made minor changes to
enhance the likeliness to the original, e.g. the vibrancy on the man’s face and the
shimmering effect on the fish.

• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
I will include similar bold, standout fonts in my
final product, as they will likely entice people.
I also like how the text is behind the man
rather than in front of him, so I will try to do
this in my final product using the magnetic
lasso tool, to create a separate layer.
