Wedding Reception At A Orthodox Baptism
Over the weekend I had the opportunity to go to a greek orthodox baptism. I am agnostic so outside of
weddings I do not attend religious ceremonies and have never attended a baptism before. I am not
very comfortable in church settings but this is was an important event because it was a close friends
event and I knew is was very important to her.
The event was on sunday so on saturday evening I called the mother of the baby to ask what the dress
code was, if I should bring anything outside the gift and to get a little idea of what to expect. My
friend Breanna mother of Alex who was being baptised told me to dress in a nice cocktail dress and
wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot standing during the ceremony. I was not sure what to
expect but I certainly did not realize that this was an all day event and as lavish as a wedding
reception.
The baptism itself lasted an hour and was so different from anything I had experienced. I knew that it
was a religious service, that the baby would be splashed with water to absolve the original sin but
beyond that everything was new. The priest was really wonderful and before the service began gave a
speech that explained what would happen during the service and what it all symbolically meant so that
those who were unfamiliar (like me) with this process would feel more included or at the very least at
ease. Most of the ceremony was spoken in the greek language but because the priest gave the
introduction I felt like I understood the

Public Health Policy And The Care Crisis
Public health policy is associated with the need to imposition public health professionals to consider
leading gaps in the future of health care crisis. The purpose is to protect the underserved and
underinsured population by the need to propose public health policy to safeguard individual s health
(Laureate Education, 2012). By protecting community health, in turn, helps control the cost of the
over burdensome healthcare expenses (Getzen, 2013). A public health professional has an obligation
to influence the health status through evidence based policymaking needed to intervene for policy
makers. Given financial constraint to reduce health disparities financial preparation and disseminative
communication are the essential tools needed to make supplement legislative policy (Brownson,
Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009; Laureate Education, 2012). The future financing to improve and amend
required policy is through evidence based health surveillance that helps public health professionals
decide the direction of where budget containment should be allocated (Brownson et al., 2009).
A public health specialist is responsible for the setting up the priorities to inform and advise
stakeholders and government agencies where allocated funding should be directed. It is through the
public health professionals consistence support that financing for public health services are increasing
for the population (Laureate Education, 2012). Moreover, public health professionals are in charge of

Self Efficacy And Self-Efficacy
The Effect of Gender on Self efficacy Exercise has been known to increase focus and concentration, It
has been found to improve mental health (Taylor, Sallis Needle, 1985). Gender is defined as the
behavioural, cultural and social attributes associated with sex (Colman, A.M., 2015). Self efficacy is a
situational form of self confidence, underlined by the belief that one can perform within a certain
situation (Zimmerman, 2000). Self efficacy has a significant impact on how people feel, think, behave,
and motivate themselves. A characteristic of an individual with high self efficacy is that they develop
stronger intrinsic interest, and focus in activities (Bandura, 1994). People who possess high self
efficacy have been shown to, on average, learn and achieve more than those with low self efficacy,
even when actual ability levels are the same (Ormrod, 2008, p. 137). Research is described in which
interventions involving models, goal setting, and feedback, were employed to affect self efficacy.
Regardless of domain, research shows that self efficacy helps to predict motivation and performance,
and studies testing causal models highlight the important role played by self efficacy (Schunk, 1995).
Prior experiences also affect self efficacy expectations, the probability of performing to a high
standard is much greater if you believe in your abilities; therefore, self efficacy has tremendous
explanatory power when comparing fluctuations in performance (Silva Stevens, 2002).

King Lear and A Thousand Acres Comparative Literary Analysis
King Lear, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, is about the delegation of power from the old
generation to the young, new generation. Furthermore, the play demonstrates problems that can arise
from a transfer made too early, from one generation to the next. A Thousand Acres is a modern
retelling of King Lear, that is similar to King Lear, but it is not an exact word for word copy. The
overall plot has been retained from King Lear, but some of the minor details have been changed to
provide an intriguing new take on the same story. One such change is the fact the story goes from a
third person view in King Lear, mostly following King Lear, to a first person narrative from the
perspective of Ginny in A Thousand Acres. Ginny is the modern day version for Goneril s character.
King Lear and A Thousand Acres may take place in two different time periods; they both offer
comments on the status of women, family relationships, and the natural order of things. The two time
periods may be different, one modern day and the other set in the past, however the ideas presented
are not that different on a whole. Both works presented share the same common thematic and
universal elements throughout. King Lear and A Thousand Acres discuss the role and status of women
similarly. In King Lear women were considered lower status than their male counterparts. This is true
even of women who would today be considered equal to men, such as a man and a women who went
to college and acquired the same

Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief Essay
Percy Jackson: The Lighting Thief The book Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief is one of the five
books in the Percy Jackson series. The series was written by Rick Riordan. The whole series is based
on Greek mythology. As you can tell by the title, the series is based on a twelve year old boy named
Percy Jackson. I have read the first two books and I will try to finish the series. The book starts out by
describing Percy Jackson and his school. He is a twelve year old boy that lives with his mom and step
father. He is in his sixth grade year and he is not a very good student. He discovers that there is
something wrong with him, he is half human, half god. He is sent to Camp Half Blood so he can be
safe from the monsters that attack half bloods. At camp he figures out that he the son of Poseidon, the
god of the sea. When Zeus s master bolt, his main weapon, is stolen, Poseidon and Percy are to blame.
Percy is given until the summer solstice to retrieve the master bolt and return it to Zeus. Percy believes
that Hades, the god of the underworld, is behind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Tupac Amaru Shakur and Christopher Wallace also knows as Biggie Smalls are both male rappers
who lived a pretty short but famous mid 90 s career in the music industry. Tupac and Biggie were able

Abstract: Friction stir welding (FSW) process is a new solid state joining technique that is widely
adopted in manufacturing and many fields for joining different metallic alloys which are difficult to
weld by using conventional type such as fusion welding for metals which has lower melting point. The
aluminium alloys are considered because they have successfully contributed in meeting the rising
demand for lightweight structures .The major parameters considered for Friction Stir Welding process
for dissimilar aluminium alloys are tool Rotational Speed, Traverse speed of tool, Axial load, Tool tilt
and plunge depth. This paper provides the overview of change in microstructural and mechanical
properties of dissimilar aluminium alloys based on considering various welding parameters.

Reinstating the Military Draft
Reinstating the Military Draft
The military draft has been used several times throughout the United States history. It has been used
for different conflicts such as the World Wars, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. By 1973, the
country switched to an all volunteer military service, abandoning the concept of the military draft
(Brisbane, par. 1). Congressman Charles Rangel planned to introduce a legislation calling for the draft
reinstatement. If a military draft is reinstated, everyone, no matter what social class the person is, will
have to do his or her part in the defense of our country.
Of course there are people who oppose the military draft by saying that it is not very democratic and
that it violates the freedom this country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, people who do not want to fight are unlikely to be very motivated, whereas volunteer
armies are far more likely to be patriotic and motivated. Citizens who may have been very patriotic
may become disillusioned with their country after being forced to participate in a war they do not want
to fight in. (Richards, par. 4).
The people that favor the military draft, such as former talk show host Montell Williams, who is a
retired Naval officer himself who started with the U.S. Marines say that the armed forces are too
stressed with fighting two wars at the same time. Montell Williams said, Why don t we spread out that
stress and start making more people put on the uniform and defend this democracy? ( Reinstating
DRAFT Could Stop Bad Military Behavior, par. 3). Having to fight 2 unpopular wars attract very few
people to join the military out of desperation, therefore the same soldiers are being sent multiple times
to the areas of conflict, bringing more stress to the soldiers and the families they leave behind. People
in higher social class have no need to join the military service and take advantage of its benefits;
therefore, the majority of the service members that compose our military are the lower class. In the
case of a military draft reinstatement, the military itself will be one of the main beneficiaries. It will
receive a marked increase in its force strength. It will get an influx of young women and men for

A Review On The Minds Of Ceo
Straight from the CEO
A Review of the Literature The minds of CEO s are, in aggregate, a tremendous center of power in
society. Upon these minds how they tick, how they prioritize, how they view the vectors of change
depends on the transmission of know how, technology, capital, and jobs. In addition, as globalization
increases, the socioeconomic impact of their thoughts becomes all the greater .
This provides a broad cross sample of the global CEO population. Insightful interviews have been
collected, which contain lessons from both the brawny companies that have been forced to reinvent
themselves, as well as from some of the brainy upstarts that needed to be rather unconventional to
gain access to the global playing field. CEO s of top world corporations tell how they handle
globalization, customer service, motivation, leadership and other management issues.
Gone is the day of the stern looking, tight lipped, antisocial dark suit who sits positioned in the large
corner office secured by twelve foot walnut doors with gold handles. Today s workers demand
involvement and interaction from upper management, no longer do the babyboomers see fit to have P
and L figures discussed between upper management only. In order to be a successful CEO in today s
society you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of value enhancement, to
be aware of opportunities and to exploit them. The future and success of the company depends on how

The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance writers were able to speak out for African Americans and present to the
world their own culture into American life. This movement allowed African Americans to share their
talents and abilities with the rest of the society and they did not have to feel the least bit ashamed
about it. Through having the chance to share their work, these writers spread across America the new
negro ; an individual who has the power to express, share, and present to the world their own
uniqueness of culture (Locke, 985). Although the Harlem Renaissance made a huge impact on
repairing the psychology of the negro , Langston Hughes contributed a great deal to this movement of
change as well. In his essay, The Negro Artist and The Racial Mountain, ... Show more content on

In his essay, Blueprint for Negro Writing, Richard Wright rejects the Renaissance at which he brings
forward several reasons as to why. To begin, he discusses the role of the negro writing and how the
negro writer does not write to the black audience, but to the whites and through doing so, the negro
writer treats themselves worse than others. In the text, he writes: Rarely was the best of this writing
addressed to the Negro himself, his needs, his sufferings, his aspirations. Through misdirection, Negro
writers have been far better to others than they have been to themselves (Wright, 1403). In his work,
he questions the power of the Negro writers and the path that they are taking. Initially, the negro
writers are not focusing on their own lives, their experiences and condition (Wright, 1403). Another
issue that Wright brings forward in his essay is that Negro writing has been addressed in the main to a
small white audience rather than to a Negro one, it should be stated that no attempt is being made here
to propagate a specious and blatant nationalism (Wright, 1405). Essentially, what Wright is addressing
is that writers are more focused on the white audience rather than the black audience and he states that
a gap continues to widen between them and their people (Wright, 1404). Another point that Wright
makes is that Negros should accept the nationalist implications of their lives, not in order to encourage
them, but in order to change and transcend them (Wright, 1406). In response to this, Wright says that
Negro writers should be focusing on the hardships of their lives, and the fact that their life is not easy
(Wright, 1406). The only way to bring change is to accept the fact that this is the reality. In his work,
he continues to

All The Lies I ve Heard
Love. Of all the lies I ve heard, I love you was my favorite (Pinterest). Seems like everyone has their
own definition for the word. One thing is for sure though is that everybody wants to be loved but not
many people are good at it or even know what it is. But the question still remains what the hell is it?
Perhaps we should look at the biblical sense of the word where in 2 Corinthians 13 we find that, Love
is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it
is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil
but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. That s

Which is maybe just maybe before you take the leap into a relationship perhaps you should do what
Justin Bieber said and go Love Yourself.
Society has lead us to believe that you can not survive without a relationship and like I mentioned
before we find ourselves surrounded by society s perspective on just what exactly love is. With
technology making such major improvements we also see that technology has taken its toll on love. I
mean 92% of songs on the radio are about sex (Roach). Companies make billions of dollars selling
love. Valentine s day, the official Hallmark scam, in 2009 made 14.7 billion dollars (Roach) with the
average female spending only 72.28 and unfortunately for the males 135.35. Valentine s Day has
evolved into showing others up with the best schemes of romance, and raking in a profit for the
retailers. Perhaps it is time for business in the US and even globally to understand that you can t buy
love, or even attraction. Most commercials on TV are all about the same. If you buy this product that
does blah blah blah somehow someway you ll end up with a beautiful guy or girl around your arm.
Take for example Vaibhav Bedi who for 7 years bought perfumes, deodorants, the whole nine yards
from Axe to entice females. Why? Because like most commercials show in their advertisements he
believed that if he bought their products women would flock to him. Sadly Mr. Bedi is still as single as

Sociological Issues In Children Of Men
To what extent does Children Of Men(2007), by Alfonso Cuarรณn, reflect the political/sociological
issues at the time of it s release?
Children Of Men was released in 2007, during the global state of paranoia following the September
11th attack on the World Trade Center, an event that triggered numerous scandals under the Bush
Administration s new military campaign; the War On Terror. This campaign was the government s
hasty response to the terrorist acts of 2001 as part of an attempt to calm the shocked civilian attitude
after September 11th attack on the World Trade Center, but actually resulted in a paranoid public
attitude towards the U.S government.

Released in 2007, in a decade ruled by societal paranoia concerning the U.S government, the film
expresses the future that people feared 2007 was leading into. With governmental authority corrupted
by a xenophobic attitude caused by terrorism that has resulted in a anti immigration sentiment across
Britain, escalated to the point that the world is in utter chaos with numerous problems, it is easy to see
the fingers the film makers were pointing. In sci fi, it is not uncommon to see directors playing upon
people s hopes and fears of the future and portraying them in an exaggerated format, creating a world
that looks uncomfortably familiar to our own. I think this may be the reason for the severe lack of
technological, scientific or alien reference that one would expect to see in a typical sci fi; in keeping
the world of Children Of Men underwhelmingly advanced, it uses realism to hit home the idea of a
dystopian future in 2027. People were more likely to act upon the prophecy Children Of Man held if
they could see that it was personally applicable to their own future. I think advanced technology and
aliens, apart from having ruined the relatable feeling of 2027 Children Of Men has, would have
distracted the audience and dragged the film into more of a fantasy sub genre, disrupting the clever
use of sci fi

The Journey From Darkness To Light In Mccarthy s The Road
McCarthy s novel and Hillcoat s film adaptation of The Road portray a father and son s arduous
journey for survival, through key scenes, themes and flashbacks.
The father and son in The Road go from darkness to light in their journey from a desolate unspecified
location to a better and more inviting place and future. From the very beginning McCarthy creates a
strong image by repeating nothing and ash , words that suggest darkness, introducing to the reader a
world where people and places names are nameless and the darkness is a state of being. The motif of
light appears at the end of the novel, suggesting a possible shade of faith. The author describes this in
the scene of the boy watching over his dying father a fading light, the light of a candle . However,
Hillcoat s film adaptation does not capture the vast, crushed emptiness of the world envisioned by
McCarthy. The film contains hope, demonstrated by the brighter lighting and continuous flashbacks
portraying bright colours of nature. The film adaption also features live animals such as birds which
symbolise hope. In the novel, McCarthy shows hope by describing fish swimming in the stream,
whereas Hillcoat portrayed hope by showing a live beetle fly from an open can. Though they both
show signs of hope and life, one was presented while the father was still alive and the other after his
death.
The man demonstrates consistently that he is prepared to take whatever action necessary, even if

Fire Imagery In Aeneas And Creusa
As singer Alexander Nestor Haddaway once sang, What is love? It is an enduring question, and one
that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is on
one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas, there are
two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire imagery, Virgil
makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they are very different
and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two different forms of
love which causes each to highlight the other.
With the passionate romance of Aeneas and Dido, as well as Aeneas and Creusa, Virgil uses negative

When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his home.
He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on his back,
he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic of his
romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the
potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of the
Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family.
Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would place
his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part
finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just
religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to
Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they
owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father Anchises
and son Ascanius.
There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice. However,
the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire imagery of
passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was

lonely and bitter woman who tries to find love and keep that love in sync forever. Through the
discovery of Homer in Emily s house after her death, Faulkner conveys to the audience that love can
fall into the wrong hands when one is desperately seeking out for the need of comfort and affection. In
the beginning the town characterized Miss Emily as the bitter old lady who never found love. Through
this characterization the story would foreshadow what is to come. After the death of her sweetheart
(before Homer) she started to seclude herself from the town. The love she had towards that man had
vanished and corrupted her emotions towards other people. Faulkner implied that Miss Emily was
never to love again due to all the devastations she s experienced. He chose to write it in first person
point of view to show the towns opinions on how Miss Emily is reacting and how her actions show
desperate need of company. Before meeting Homer, Miss Emily felt alone and she did not let anyone
from town help her recuperate from her losses. She was in distraught. The use of figurative language
expresses the attitude Miss Emily has towards the town. She is intimidating in which point the
townspeople obey on what she asks. All the loneliness and feeling like she was alone was with the

What Is The Cobra Effect
There is a solution to every problem . A common phrase every one of us must have heard atleast once
in our lives. Does every problem require a solution? What if the solution to the problem ends up
making the problem even worse? Such a situation in Economics is often referred to as The Cobra
Effect .
The term Cobra effect comes from an anecdote from colonial India. British, during their reign in India,
had observed something peculiar and mysterious in their attempt at solving the growing crisis of
increasing Cobra population in the northern part of their colony. The British, in their surge of curbing
the increasing population of Cobras, placed a bounty on the heads of cobras to help eradicate them.
Initially, their plan worked. Population of cobras declined. However, their happiness was short lived as
the population sky rocketed, to the utter dismay and astonishment of the Englishmen. Shocking
observations of a British General revealed that families were raising broods of cobras in their homes
to earn the bounty from their heads and feed themselves from their remaining carcasses. This is an
example of a perverse incentive where the incentive for the behaviour actually made the problem
worse.
Classical economists believed or rather assumed the fact that human beings ... Show more content on

Immigration Made America. Immigration Has Shaped America,But
Immigration made America
Immigration has shaped America, but now it s becoming harder and harder to enter this country. With
the growing threat that immigration is bad and that illegal immigrants are stealing American jobs,
many people believe the laws need to be even more strict. With Donald Trump recently elected that
may become a reality. Trump has said I will build a grat a wall and also anyone who is in the United
States Illegally is subject to deportation (Brandner). While it is important that Illegal immigrants be
dealt with not all of them are bad. Immigration has shaped the United States before and will continue

DACA is a program that allows young people from other countries to come live in the U.S with no
risk of being deported. This program has helped roughly 665,000 people live in the U.S (Wolgin).
Although it has become harder to live in the U.S many people still try and enter because they know
America gives them an opportunity that no other country does. This is what continues to make
America great. While a constant flow of people coming to America seems like a great idea to most,
President elect Trump thinks the U.S need to limit the people it let in. During his campaign he said he
would repeal DACA and kick out all illegal immigrants. His thought process behind this is that it will
free up jobs for Americans. Trump is right that it will free up jobs as roughly 8 million illegal
immigrants currently have jobs , but the issue is that Americans won t have the proper training to take
all of these jobs (Krogstad). This will lead to companies not producing what they should and being
forced to lay of people. So overall by kicking out all immigrants Trump will be costing many
Americans jobs and could lead to another depression. Another thing that Trump has said he will do is
build a wall around the U.S and Mexico. This wall will cost millions maybe even billions of dollars,
yet Trump has not elaborated on how it will be paid for. He has said he will get Mexico to pay for it
and that he has a plan to do it, but nobody knows

Corporate Social Responsibility and its implication in Africa
Temitope Oguntoyinbo
Introduction
Human beings are living organisms whose health is dependent on how well internal body systems
interact with the external system. A person is considered healthy when all the body systems are
performing at an optimum rate and interacting appropriately. There is another aspect that influences
the well being of people significantly. The interaction between an individual also plays an important
role in ensuring that internal systems are performing well.
These two aspects of internal and external environments of a person are also real in the business

Companies should not strive to achieve financial performance at the expense of the society and the
environment.
Organizations are expected to actively analyze the impact of their operations on the overall financial
and social systems in which they operate. Businesses should know expectations of the society and
then manage their behavior and actions to yield results that address those expectations. The
implementation of corporate social responsibility plan by an organization is an honor to humanity and
nature. CSR discourages organizations from engaging in activities that threaten the life of people
affected by its operations. An example is waste management strategies a company puts in place to
ensure an appropriate disposal of by products. Waste materials can pose health dangers such as cancer,
contamination of water and food which may result in illnesses or even death of community members.
Additionally, natural resources such as forests and water are threatened by selfish strategies aimed at
realizing financial performance without consideration of social responsibilities of the firm. CSR also
encourages organizations to behave and act in a manner that promotes values of the community which
they are embedded (International Conference on Economics and Management Engineering, 2014).
Alexander P. (2015) argues that business ethics should not be sacrificed on the altar of profit
maximization. It is the interest of shareholders to get more returns from their

are managing their budgets carefully. We managed our costs, capital investment and stocks tightly. As
a result we delivered earnings in line with last year, and made substantial efficiency savings in our

The Importance Of Religion In Islam
Until what point can faith and beliefs dictate what is right or wrong? Practicing a religion can provide
emotional well being, happiness and guiding; however, in some cases religion can have a negative
effect in a society because it can be used to justify violence or social inequalities. One of the most
controversial religion is the Islam because it has many interpretations that can lead to power abuse and
manipulation for personal interests. Moreover, Saudi Arabia is considered the birthplace of Islam,
where Muslims practice what is known as Wahhabi Islam, which is also highly controversial and
criticized by western cultures because of its extreme regime and promotion of violence. The kingdom
of Saudi Arabia is the most conservative Muslim country in the world, and it is mired in 13th century
ideals. (video) Now, the kingdom is going through a transition state, which has trapped the country in
a conflict between cultural development and religion ancestral traditions, which has specially affect
women in many aspects.
In Saudi Arabia the monarchy uses the Quran as the constitution and seeks guidance from religious
clerics when passing new laws, (video) which has driven the country to cope with a growing struggle
between the monarchs and the religious clerics. Gender segregation is demanded by the Islamic laws
in Saudi Arabia, and the country has a system of women full exclusion. Therefore, all the business,

is it ok to say for us to say, I can take your culture because it s meant to be shared anyway. Most of us
have lived here our entire lives and it s what we have grown accustomed to. Can we speak on anyone

Search Engine Optimization Essay
Getting What You Pay for: How Much is too Much for SEO?
Whether you own a business or agency in Toronto, Montreal, or Ottawa, you may already have given
some thought to the topic of search engine optimization (SEO). Unless you are a digital marketing
expert, you cannot provide your brand with the kind of online optimization required to get consistently
high rankings. That is why businesses rely on professionals to perform this necessary function.
One of the top misconceptions that many businesses have is that SEO services should be delivered at a
cheap rate. Why is this? There may be a few major factors that contribute to this fallacy. First, many
business marketers seem to be largely uninformed about the importance of SEO in terms of ... Show

Instead of outranking your competitors, which was the reason you decided to hire an SEO firm in the
first place, you might get outdated or ineffective link building. In fact, if the practices you paid for are
implemented unethically, you might even be deindexed or penalized by Google.
Instead of asking how much is too much for SEO, the more appropriate question might be: How much
is too little? You will not get the SEO results you expect for $10 a month or even $100 per month.
When SEO is done correctly, it is a complex process that involves an assortment of factors. To be
carried out effectively, quality SEO requires many hours of work. If you are not paying at least several
hundred dollars monthly, you might as well focus your marketing efforts on Google AdWords. Once
you can afford to pay for quality SEO services, you can enjoy higher rankings and gain an edge on the
competition.
Paying for Service Packages
If you have ever shopped around for SEO services, you have almost certainly seen general packages
available. These packages are often intended to provide clients with options, but what they typically
do is exclude necessary services unless clients pay the top price. If you choose one of the lower priced
packages, you might not get citations or backlinks. The plan that will truly benefit you is usually going
to be the highest priced option, and that could take many

The American Transcontinental Railroad
After America acquired the West, the need for efficient transportation heightened. Ideas circulated
about a railroad that would spread across the continent from East to West. Republican congresses
ruled for the federal funding of railroad construction, however, all actions were halted for a few years
on account of a war. Following the American Civil War of 1861 1865, the race to build
transcontinental railroad began in 1866. Lincoln approved Pacific Railway Act of 1862, granting two
railroad companies the right to build the first American transcontinental railroad, (Clark 432).

In 1860, Judah and a man named Daniel Strong, collaborated and found that the most affective route
eastward from Sacramento would go through the Donner Pass, (Williams 33). In 1861, when Leland

with the dangers that could potentially occur along the way. This detailed proposal attracted the
attention of Stanford, as well as Collis Potter Huntington, Mark Hopkins, and Charles Crocker.
Stanford then sent Judah to Washington to propose the idea to the Lincoln administration. Judah
successfully convinced the federal government, which resulted in the passing of the Pacific Railway

Police Donation In Dallas
In the midst of trouble, there s a whirlwind blowing in favor of law enforcement as communities

The Use Of Light And Light In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
The novel The Road is a tale filled with evil and darkness with nights dark beyond darkness and the
days more gray than what had gone before (McCarthy ). An unspecified apocalypse has razed the
world and nearly all of human civilization, leaving a desolate world for a man and his son to traverse.
In this gray, dull world there is little in the way of color or light to be seen. The sky has become gray,
and the sun has been obscured, reduced to a faint, dim light. In this dark, achromatic world the use of
color and light is reserved for objects and ideas of importance. Cormac McCarthy utilizes this scarcity
of light and color throughout the novel to provide contrast between the old world and new, and
between good and evil and to draw attention to important object and topics. The primary use of this
contrast between light and dark is the man and boy s metaphorical task to carry the fire. The man and
boy are stuck trudging day by day in a barren, scorched landscape of gray, endlessly foraging in
wasted buildings for food and supplies (Hage 140). Murderers, cannibals, and thieves roam the bleak
landscape, and evidence of their evils is witnessed at every turn of the pair s ill fated journey. The man
and boy are one of the few people still holding on to their humanity in this wasteland that demands
they abandon it in order to survive. The world that they inhabit is one of absolute darkness. This
darkness ecompases not only the physical darkness and inhospitidy of the landscape littered with
corpses, the sun blotted out, flora and fauna dead, [and] the seas poisoned, but also the moral
corruption that has engulfed humanity. In this expanse of darkness the man and boy are just an oddity.
Two of the last of the survivors carrying the fire and serving as a pocket of goodness in a corrupt
world. Additionally, the boy s role as this metaphorical fire serves an important role in the man s
ethical dilemma. The man has little desire to live in the world that he has been involuntarily thrown
into. Whereas the man s wife ultimately came to the conclusion that suicide was the only sane option
presented to them, the man is much more hesitant. After watching his life crumble around him the man
is left with a sole

Analysis Of The Poem Salvage The Teeth Essay
Salvage the Future
Realism coupled with imaginative storytelling is Jesymn Ward s Salvage the Bones. Ward illuminated
the struggle of poverty in a way that would pull at the reader, enticing them to question how and why
this epidemic still exists in modern day America. Just like a hurricane unapologetically rips through
homes, leaving people without food, shelter, and a hope to survive, so does poverty. However, there is
an innate resilience in those who find a way to endure, despite the unpredictable present and future.
This novel gives its reader a bleak reminder of those forgotten; those who reside on the outskirts of
our consciousness. Ward implores the reader to question their own consciousness concerning poverty
by welcoming them into Esch s, one filled with quiet turmoil, deep thought and apparent struggle.
These raw and authentic characters express that this novel is not mere fiction. Although the future of
Esch is unknown, it is Ward s intention for the reader to see her in our own realities catalyzing
question, concern and action in heart and mind. She invites the reader to take both a microscopic and
macroscopic look at the epidemic of poverty whose symptoms cannot be treated without being
mindful of those who are directly afflicted.
A child that grows up in poverty maintains a world view set apart from others. Their economic
disadvantage forces them face reality and the responsibility quickly and obtrusively, giving no time for
personal discovery. This novel

My Mother
At the request of this prompt (A), I have concluded that the person whom I truly admire, whom I am
most inspired as well as most influenced by is ultimately my Mother. I came to this conclusion as my
Mother represents an immense purpose, that strength and beauty can arise from struggles, that one in
hard times can arise to succeed. My Mother s life story symbolizes one of many morals and life
learning themes that it was her struggle and hardships that gave her beauty. My mother had
experienced a lot of difficulties in the process of growing up, either due to her polish or American
experience. Yet my mother s story exclaims that if she hadn t experienced a life in vain, then she
would not have been the person she is today. My Mother had shown me that hardships and struggles
ultimately make you whom you are, as I must face and look past turbulence and obstacles, which
block me from the light and success. I, Giovanni Dama, believe that my mother is whom I truly
admire above many. I in firmly intend to follow my mother s ideals and her attitude of strength and
glory, to never give up in any scenario, no matter what challenges I must reach and be greater than.
My mother, Anna Dama, had experienced a path of hardships as my mother came to America for hope
and opportunity. My mother had migrated to the united states of America as her father and siblings
have already done so. Yet, my had came here tan age of 20 years old, making the relocation to
America an ultimate challenge.

How Did Industrialization Affect Russia
How did industrialization effect Russia? In the early 19th century, Russia developed trade relations
with other European countries and shipped out large amounts of grain. Most of the revenue that went
into the empire filled the pockets of aristocrats and land owners, but it wasn t used as income to
develop an industrialized economy. Industrial projects and incentives were requested often, but it
rarely happened. Many felt as if it threatened financial interests of landowners. There was some heavy
industry taking place (oil, steel, mining, etc.), but compared to Russia s rivals, it was very small. It
finally took a loss in the Crimean War to show the desperate need for Russian industrialization.
Industrialization for Russia expanded economic and industrial growth, but caused major problems.
Russia before Industrialization Russia s economy was very weak with little industrialization because
of a greedy upper class. After the Crimean War, Alexander II made a reform, called Emancipation of
the Serfs, that would begin Russia s process of industrialization. Emancipating the serfs wasn t just a
social reform; it was their release from the land and the control of landowners. Alexander and his men
felt that a large group of freed serfs would become a mobile labor force, being able to relocate to areas

Becoming A Cheetah Girl And A Singer Like Hilary Duff
Ten years ago, I was nine years old. I was in the fourth grade at Central Elementary School. I was an
extremely insecure little girl. I was prescribed glasses in the third grade and I also had two big front
teeth that had just grown in, by this time I had stopped wearing my glasses them unless my teacher
made me. When she did make me wear them I cried because I was so familiar with the other kids
picking on me that I expected it. Along with insecure, my personality was a mixture between shy and
timid and outgoing and bubbly. I think the only reason I was shy at times is because I was so sensitive
then. I always wore my heart on my sleeve. It wasn t difficult to hurt my feelings. My goals as a nine

The State Of Nature As A State
In his Leviathan, Hobbes describes the state of nature as a state of war between all men. Hobbes refers
to the state of nature as a state where there is no common power over them (Leviathan 13, 293). By
this, Hobbes is explaining the state of nature as a state of existence without a governing entity or laws
over men. In this state, men have the right to take anything they need in order to preserve themselves
(Leviathan 14, 294). Next, Hobbes explains that all men are equal in ability, and he takes great care to
explain that in a single ability, such as strength, men are not equal because there will be stronger men
and weaker men (Leviathan 13, 292). However, he explains that such inequalities can be overcome
using deception or by acquiring allies (Leviathan 13, 292). The idea of equal ability is key to Hobbes
argument because it ensures that everyone has an equal hope of attaining their ends (Leviathan 13,
293). One way to view this is each individual is able, or has the capacity, to fight because everyone is
approximately equal in ability. If some individuals were stronger than others and weaker individuals
had no method to counter their strength, then the weaker individuals would not want to fight because
they would certainly lose. This capacity to fight gives everyone the ability to fight each other, so if
have reason to fight, then they are able to fight. However, the capacity to fight is not enough because it
will not necessarily drive men to fight each other

Cooper (2003) noted that most new innovations come with high risks as most of them failed in the
marketplace creating the need for marketers to have a clear understanding of success factors in brand
adoption. Theories of adoption have often been used to explain how consumers form preferences for
various goods and services.
Brand awareness is the ability for a customer to recognize or recall that a brand is a member of a
certain product category (Aaker, 2011).
Brand awareness is a fundamental attribute of customer brand equity. It tends to be an underestimated
component of brand equity (Tong Hawley, 2009). Brand awareness includes two elements which are
brand recall and brand recognition. According to Aaker (1996) there is a positive relationship between
trust, value and brand equity. Trust is the faith put into a brand with regard to its quality, consistency,
etc. Value is created by providing a solution to consumers needs and wants in a way that the cost to the
consumer is fair considering the benefits gained (Aaker,

The Different Aspects of Conflict in a Selection of Four War Poems
Many poems have been witnessed throughout history that show different views on war and the glory
and sacrifices made. Everyone was affected, from the men in the front lines to women and children
working back at home. Men involved in the war effort often wrote poems to record their thoughts and
feelings, or simply to pass the time. Poetry was an outlet through which they could express great depth
of meaning by condensing it into a few words. In this assignment I am going to write about the war
poems entitled The Charge of the Light Brigade , a poem written in 1854 by Lord Alfred Tennyson,

England is personified as being a mother. Brooke s message in this poem is that if he should die, the
place of his death will be made richer by his body. The body will carry these English blessings,
passing them onto the ground on which it lies. Brooke writes his own epigraph and shows a moving
sense of the poet s deep love of England and it s people. The poet feels he can influence the thoughts
of those left behind, with this he will try to cement the continuation of those qualities that he thinks of
as being essentially English. Brooke has transformed the poem into a sonnet, not addressed to a loved
one but to his country.
In this poem the moods of the first few months of the war are summed up. Despite the subject matter
there is a sort of serenity in the poem, even the words If I should die suggests that he expects to
survive.
The reality of the horror had still to be discovered.
This poem mirrors the sentiments expressed in The Charge of the Light Brigade . This event took
place in 1854 and is still remembered as one of the most famous triumphs in British history. The truth
is that Lord Cardigan suicidally led his troops Into

Human Understanding As A Means By The World Can Be...
Philosophers have always been concerned to establish a means by which the world can be understood
objectively. The problem is that it is difficult to establish the extent to which the physical world exists
independently of perception (Brock and Mares, 2007, p. 34). Philosophers identify a perceptual barrier
preventing knowledge of whether or not what can be perceived is an accurate or literal representation
of the true nature of reality; a barrier known in philosophical discourse as the veil of perception
(Bennett, 1968, p. 98). In 1689 Locke wrote An Essay Concerning Human Understanding as a means
of explaining this barrier, using a theory categorised by philosophers as a form of representational
realism (Brock Mares, 2007, p. 49). In order to analyse the potential (or otherwise) of this approach, a
philosopher needs to understand what Locke intended by his thesis of primary, secondary and tertiary
qualities and consider the extent to which these may be inherently part of an object, and thereby the
degree to which that object might correspond in reality with the way it is perceived. Locke s work has
been significantly critiqued (either to extend the ideas, or to refute them) ever since its publication.
Currently the technologically augmented insights of information theory responses to Locke s Essay
use scientific evidence as a basis for both accepting and refuting Locke s theory, making it a
perennially stimulating subject.
Locke s intention was to explain how the

The Un Recent Drafting Of A Sustainable Development Goals...
This essay is going to discuss the UN recent drafting of a set of Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) and more specifically the idea behind goal number 7 : Ensure access to affordable, reliable,
sustainable and modern energy for all 1. Part One Because energy is one of the most fundamental
states of the universe, it is easily measurable. In physics, calculating the energy of given a system is
one of the most basic problems, whether the question applies to an electronics problem,
thermodynamics one, or mechanical issue. We can thus assume that energy, as a hole, is easily
measurable. The goal seven s first target quotes: 7.1 by 2030 ensure universal access to affordable,
reliable, and modern energy services 2. From this statement, we understand that a main issue facing
today sustainable development is access to energy. Because energy is easily calculable, it is
straightforward to find the amount of energy we use, and the amount that is needed. Unfortunately, all
of these number and terms are subject to twists that contradict themselves. Who do we define how
much energy is needed ? How do we define a reliable and moderne energy service ? Yet, there is no
internationally accepted definition of access to energy. However, according to the IEA, it can be
described as: Household access to a minimum level of electricity Household access to safer and more
sustainable cooking and heating fuels and stoves

Ema 01 Which Is More Important in Explaining the Public...
TASK 1 OPTION 2 HISTORY
Which is more important in explaining the public support for Chartism: economic circumstances, or
the tradition of radical politics?
To explain the rise of the chartist political movement and the public support it received we need to
consider the two main contributing factors at the time. Historians like Asa Briggs, W.W. Rostow and
Gareth Steadman Jones take differing views on which was the most important explanation for the
dramatic rise in public support for the chartist movement. Briggs agreed with an economic based
reason and Steadman Jones agreed with the radical new policies that Chartism offered being the main
reason for the growth in support for the movement. This essay will explore these two views ... Show

The general feel of the working class was expressed in the chartist newspaper the morning chronicle
we require justice before charity . (Morning Chronicle may 3rd 1842). This was taken from a banner
in the crowd of supporters. The speaker in the extract reflects the sentiment of the banner and the
feeling of the crowd at the rally. This shows how political motivations were a major factor in the
growth of Chartism and how the chartists used public feeling to garner support.
In conclusion to explain the growth and mass support for Chartism and the rise of the political
movement which gripped the nation A mix of both economic problems combined with radical political
ideas left a nation wanting change the Chartists used the economic situation to tailor support for their
cause and increase the idea that political change would improve conditions for the working classes.
Chartism would not have had the same effect without a combination of these 2 factors.

Tay Sachs Disease Research Paper

April 17th 2015
Tay Sach s Disease
Tay Sachs disease is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder, which means it can be passed down
parents genes and is located on a non sex chromosome. The form ,ost discussed is known as infantile
Tay Sachs disease, the symptoms of which are the deterioration of mental and physical abilities, which
starts affecting children at six months old and normally results in death by the age of four. It is caused
by a genetic defect in a single gene with one defective copy of that gene inherited from each parent.
The disease occurs when harmful quantities of gangliosides gather in the nerve cells of the brain,
eventually leading to the premature death of those cells. The condition is ... Show more content on

Heritable traits are known to be passed from one generation to the next by DNA. This is a molecule
that encodes genetic information. DNA is a long polymere with four types of interchangeable bases.
The sequence of bases along a particular DNA molecule encodes the genetic information. Before a
cell goes through mitosis and divides, the DNA is copied, so each of the two cells will inherit the DNA
sequence. A portion of a DNA molecule that specifies a single functional unit is called a gene. Within
cells, the long strands of DNA form condensed structures called chromosomes. The mutation for Tay
Sachs Disease is located on chromosome 15. Organisms inherit genetic material from their parents in
the form of homologos chromosomes, containing a unique combination of DNA sequences that code

The Buddha Stands On The Crown Of The Head With A Round...
This Buddha has a bun shaped fleshy protuberance on the crown of the head with a round and plump
face, which has been severely weathered, leaving half of a halo behind the head. However, a sense of
solemn and compassionate can still be perceived from the downward gazing eyes and the facial
expression. The Buddha wears a full shoulder kasaya with compact and specified drapery that forms
into a U shape along the axis of the body. The left hand naturally drops to hold a piece of the clothes
yet the right forearm is fragmented. The Buddha stands on a rising lotus throne which is set on a
Sumeru throne. This artifact was excavated at Ruins of the Ancient Andier City, which is a inner
desert that locates 27 km southeast of Andier Ranch (ๅฎ‰่ฟชๅฐ”็‰งๅœบ) in Minfeng County, Hetian Region,
Xinjiang. Originally built in Han dynasty, the city was gradually abandoned during 11th century AD,
remaining to be an important site of remnants of the south Silk Road (ไธ็ปธไน‹่ทฏ) of Han and Tang
dynasties.
This artifact is severely damaged, leaving only part of the head and chest remain. The face of the
Buddha appears to be relatively round, using ink to draw the eyebrows and to emphasize the already
carved on eyelids. The upper eyelids are curvy while the lower ones are relatively flat. With plump
alae of the nose, small lips and dimples on the edge of the mouth, the figure is depicted to be smiling.
Although the neck is broken, the piece left in front of the chest indicates the kasayaworn by the

Evolution Of The Commerce Clause Analysis

Professor Joseph Margulies
GOVT 3001
Evolution of the Interpretation of the Commerce Clause by the US Supreme Court
From the birth of the Constitution of the United States in 1787 to the Supreme Court cases of the 21st
century, the interpretation of the Commerce Clause has been a great source of controversy in the
Supreme Court. Simply put, the Commerce Clause grants power to Congress to regulate Commerce
with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes . When interpreted
leniently, the Commerce Clause can give vast powers to Congress to regulate interstate commerce and
any action leading up to it. In Wickard v Filburn, a very lenient interpretation of the clause gave
Congress the power to regulate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dagenhart, a father of two boys who would have lost their jobs if this act was upheld, challenged this
act and this case was brought to the Supreme Court to be judged .
The Court ruled in favour of Dagenhart, firstly arguing that the power to regulate interstate commerce
does not include the power to prohibit interstate commerce. The Court also contended that the act does
not aim to regulate transportation among the states, but instead aims to regulate child labour in mining
and manufacturing within the states. Furthermore, the Court argued that manufacturing and mining are
not commerce even if they were to be shipped or used in interstate commerce. Thus, the act was out of
Congress power to regulate interstate commerce .
A dissent by Chief Justice Holmes however argued that the power to regulate included the power to
prohibit whatever Congress saw fit to. He then proceeded to list several historical examples where
Congress was allowed to prohibit the interstate trade of several products. It should be noted that this
case was later overturned by United States v Darby Lumber Company

Traditional Method Of Genomic Selection
Genomic selection Traditional method of genetic improvement of livestock using information on
phenotypes and pedigrees to predict breeding values has been very successful, however, breeding
values could be predict more accurately by using information on variation in DNA sequence between
animals. Research on marker assisted selection (MAS) is very extensive but has limited
implementation and increases in genetic gain is small (Dekkers, 2004). Goddard and Hayes (2002)
showed that the factors governing the additional gains from MAS are the accuracy of the existing
estimated breeding values (EBV). If at all, the accuracy is high, there will be little gain. However,
where traditional selection is most difficult, e.g. traits displayed only in ... Show more content on

Using simulation, they showed that the breeding value could be predicted with an accuracy of 0.85
from marker data alone. The major limitation to the implementation of genomic selection has been the
large number of markers required and the cost of genotyping these markers (Grapes et al. 2004).
Recently both these limitations have been overcome in most livestock species following the
sequencing of the livestock genomes, the subsequent availability of hundreds of thousands of single
nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). As a result of these developments there are many livestock breeding
companies planning to implement genomic selection in the near future (Grapes et al. 2004). Statistical
analysis to calculate EBV from genome wide DNA markers it is convenient to think of the process in
three steps:
i. Use the markers to deduce the genotype of each animal at each QTL. ii. Estimate the effects of each
QTL genotype on the trait. iii. Sum all the QTL effects for selection candidates to obtain their genomic
EBV (GEBV).
As the markers are unlikely to be evenly spaced, and due to the variable nature of the LD, we could
still not expect that all QTL would have an SNP in complete LD with them. This suggests that we
need denser markers than are currently available. The technology to achieve this is available (Parks et
al. 2007). An additional problem arises if we wish to estimate the effect of each marker across more
than

What Was The Triple Alliance In 1914
It is human nature for people to look back at past events in retrospection, wondering if the outcome
would have changed if a decision was made differently. World War I, or the war to end all wars, began
in the summer of 1914, but it was the events leading up to it, such as the creation of alliances, which
decided the fate of the war. Alliances are formal military or political agreements between countries,
which state that the will back the other country in the event of an attack, either financially or through
declaring war. Mamy alliances were made prior to the start of World War I, and as a result, all
European countries, including central powers, were conjoined. These alliance systems were the
catalyst which created the momentum of World ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Triple Alliance was a confidential alliance, which would militarily back the other country in the
event of a conflict. Germany was the strongest power in the alliance, with a growing military, and a
strong economy 1. Italy was the weakest country of the alliance due to the fact that it had a very weak
army and navy, which had little funding, but it had a geographical advantage compared to Austria and
Germany, so it served as a military base 2. Austria Hungary benefited from the alliance because it
protected them from Russia, who had conflicts with Austria in the Balkans and Bosnia 3. Another
alliance which played a prominent role in World War I, was the Triple Entente, which consisted of
Russia, France, and Great Britain. The Triple Entente was created in 1907, which like the Triple
Alliance, protect each other from attacks from a foreign country. The Triple Entente was a very
powerful alliance due to the fact that Britain had the strongest, most technologically advanced navy,
while France had a flourishing economy 4. The Triple Entente also had a geographical advantage over
the Triple Alliance, since it had the ability to attack the Triple Alliance on either side. Tom

  • 2. Wedding Reception At A Orthodox Baptism Over the weekend I had the opportunity to go to a greek orthodox baptism. I am agnostic so outside of weddings I do not attend religious ceremonies and have never attended a baptism before. I am not very comfortable in church settings but this is was an important event because it was a close friends event and I knew is was very important to her. The event was on sunday so on saturday evening I called the mother of the baby to ask what the dress code was, if I should bring anything outside the gift and to get a little idea of what to expect. My friend Breanna mother of Alex who was being baptised told me to dress in a nice cocktail dress and wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot standing during the ceremony. I was not sure what to expect but I certainly did not realize that this was an all day event and as lavish as a wedding reception. The baptism itself lasted an hour and was so different from anything I had experienced. I knew that it was a religious service, that the baby would be splashed with water to absolve the original sin but beyond that everything was new. The priest was really wonderful and before the service began gave a speech that explained what would happen during the service and what it all symbolically meant so that those who were unfamiliar (like me) with this process would feel more included or at the very least at ease. Most of the ceremony was spoken in the greek language but because the priest gave the introduction I felt like I understood the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Public Health Policy And The Care Crisis Public health policy is associated with the need to imposition public health professionals to consider leading gaps in the future of health care crisis. The purpose is to protect the underserved and underinsured population by the need to propose public health policy to safeguard individual s health (Laureate Education, 2012). By protecting community health, in turn, helps control the cost of the over burdensome healthcare expenses (Getzen, 2013). A public health professional has an obligation to influence the health status through evidence based policymaking needed to intervene for policy makers. Given financial constraint to reduce health disparities financial preparation and disseminative communication are the essential tools needed to make supplement legislative policy (Brownson, Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009; Laureate Education, 2012). The future financing to improve and amend required policy is through evidence based health surveillance that helps public health professionals decide the direction of where budget containment should be allocated (Brownson et al., 2009). A public health specialist is responsible for the setting up the priorities to inform and advise stakeholders and government agencies where allocated funding should be directed. It is through the public health professionals consistence support that financing for public health services are increasing for the population (Laureate Education, 2012). Moreover, public health professionals are in charge of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Self Efficacy And Self-Efficacy The Effect of Gender on Self efficacy Exercise has been known to increase focus and concentration, It has been found to improve mental health (Taylor, Sallis Needle, 1985). Gender is defined as the behavioural, cultural and social attributes associated with sex (Colman, A.M., 2015). Self efficacy is a situational form of self confidence, underlined by the belief that one can perform within a certain situation (Zimmerman, 2000). Self efficacy has a significant impact on how people feel, think, behave, and motivate themselves. A characteristic of an individual with high self efficacy is that they develop stronger intrinsic interest, and focus in activities (Bandura, 1994). People who possess high self efficacy have been shown to, on average, learn and achieve more than those with low self efficacy, even when actual ability levels are the same (Ormrod, 2008, p. 137). Research is described in which interventions involving models, goal setting, and feedback, were employed to affect self efficacy. Regardless of domain, research shows that self efficacy helps to predict motivation and performance, and studies testing causal models highlight the important role played by self efficacy (Schunk, 1995). Prior experiences also affect self efficacy expectations, the probability of performing to a high standard is much greater if you believe in your abilities; therefore, self efficacy has tremendous explanatory power when comparing fluctuations in performance (Silva Stevens, 2002). ... • 5. King Lear and A Thousand Acres Comparative Literary Analysis King Lear, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, is about the delegation of power from the old generation to the young, new generation. Furthermore, the play demonstrates problems that can arise from a transfer made too early, from one generation to the next. A Thousand Acres is a modern retelling of King Lear, that is similar to King Lear, but it is not an exact word for word copy. The overall plot has been retained from King Lear, but some of the minor details have been changed to provide an intriguing new take on the same story. One such change is the fact the story goes from a third person view in King Lear, mostly following King Lear, to a first person narrative from the perspective of Ginny in A Thousand Acres. Ginny is the modern day version for Goneril s character. King Lear and A Thousand Acres may take place in two different time periods; they both offer comments on the status of women, family relationships, and the natural order of things. The two time periods may be different, one modern day and the other set in the past, however the ideas presented are not that different on a whole. Both works presented share the same common thematic and universal elements throughout. King Lear and A Thousand Acres discuss the role and status of women similarly. In King Lear women were considered lower status than their male counterparts. This is true even of women who would today be considered equal to men, such as a man and a women who went to college and acquired the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The series was written by Rick Riordan. The whole series is based on Greek mythology. As you can tell by the title, the series is based on a twelve year old boy named Percy Jackson. I have read the first two books and I will try to finish the series. The book starts out by describing Percy Jackson and his school. He is a twelve year old boy that lives with his mom and step father. He is in his sixth grade year and he is not a very good student. At camp he figures out that he the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. When Zeus s master bolt, his main weapon, is stolen, Poseidon and Percy are to blame. • 9. Reinstating the Military Draft Reinstating the Military Draft The military draft has been used several times throughout the United States history. It has been used for different conflicts such as the World Wars, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. By 1973, the country switched to an all volunteer military service, abandoning the concept of the military draft (Brisbane, par. 1). Congressman Charles Rangel planned to introduce a legislation calling for the draft reinstatement. If a military draft is reinstated, everyone, no matter what social class the person is, will have to do his or her part in the defense of our country. Of course there are people who oppose the military draft by saying that it is not very democratic and that it violates the freedom this country ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, people who do not want to fight are unlikely to be very motivated, whereas volunteer armies are far more likely to be patriotic and motivated. Citizens who may have been very patriotic may become disillusioned with their country after being forced to participate in a war they do not want to fight in. (Richards, par. 4). The people that favor the military draft, such as former talk show host Montell Williams, who is a retired Naval officer himself who started with the U.S. Marines say that the armed forces are too stressed with fighting two wars at the same time. Montell Williams said, Why don t we spread out that stress and start making more people put on the uniform and defend this democracy? ( Reinstating DRAFT Could Stop Bad Military Behavior, par. 3). Having to fight 2 unpopular wars attract very few people to join the military out of desperation, therefore the same soldiers are being sent multiple times to the areas of conflict, bringing more stress to the soldiers and the families they leave behind. People in higher social class have no need to join the military service and take advantage of its benefits; therefore, the majority of the service members that compose our military are the lower class. In the case of a military draft reinstatement, the military itself will be one of the main beneficiaries. It will receive a marked increase in its force strength. Ward spent 22 hours and $3000 to tattoo her favorite characters on her back. When I was sixteen I wanted to get a tattoo as well, but not extremely big, I wanted a tattoo that said either Twilight or a short quote from one of the books. At that time my parents didn t let me pierce my nose let alone get a tattoo. • 11. A Review On The Minds Of Ceo Straight from the CEO A Review of the Literature The minds of CEO s are, in aggregate, a tremendous center of power in society. Upon these minds how they tick, how they prioritize, how they view the vectors of change depends on the transmission of know how, technology, capital, and jobs. In addition, as globalization increases, the socioeconomic impact of their thoughts becomes all the greater . This provides a broad cross sample of the global CEO population. Insightful interviews have been collected, which contain lessons from both the brawny companies that have been forced to reinvent themselves, as well as from some of the brainy upstarts that needed to be rather unconventional to gain access to the global playing field. CEO s of top world corporations tell how they handle globalization, customer service, motivation, leadership and other management issues. Gone is the day of the stern looking, tight lipped, antisocial dark suit who sits positioned in the large corner office secured by twelve foot walnut doors with gold handles. Today s workers demand involvement and interaction from upper management, no longer do the babyboomers see fit to have P and L figures discussed between upper management only. In order to be a successful CEO in today s society you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of value enhancement, to be aware of opportunities and to exploit them. The future and success of the company depends on how you view the company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This movement allowed African Americans to share their talents and abilities with the rest of the society and they did not have to feel the least bit ashamed about it. Through having the chance to share their work, these writers spread across America the new negro ; an individual who has the power to express, share, and present to the world their own uniqueness of culture (Locke, 985). In his essay, Blueprint for Negro Writing, Richard Wright rejects the Renaissance at which he brings forward several reasons as to why. To begin, he discusses the role of the negro writing and how the negro writer does not write to the black audience, but to the whites and through doing so, the negro writer treats themselves worse than others. In the text, he writes: Rarely was the best of this writing addressed to the Negro himself, his needs, his sufferings, his aspirations. Through misdirection, Negro writers have been far better to others than they have been to themselves (Wright, 1403). In his work, he questions the power of the Negro writers and the path that they are taking. Initially, the negro writers are not focusing on their own lives, their experiences and condition (Wright, 1403). Another issue that Wright brings forward in his essay is that Negro writing has been addressed in the main to a small white audience rather than to a Negro one, it should be stated that no attempt is being made here to propagate a specious and blatant nationalism (Wright, 1405). Essentially, what Wright is addressing is that writers are more focused on the white audience rather than the black audience and he states that a gap continues to widen between them and their people (Wright, 1404). Another point that Wright makes is that Negros should accept the nationalist implications of their lives, not in order to encourage them, but in order to change and transcend them (Wright, 1406). In response to this, Wright says that Negro writers should be focusing on the hardships of their lives, and the fact that their life is not easy (Wright, 1406). The only way to bring change is to accept the fact that this is the reality. In his work, he continues to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One thing is for sure though is that everybody wants to be loved but not many people are good at it or even know what it is. But the question still remains what the hell is it? Perhaps we should look at the biblical sense of the word where in 2 Corinthians 13 we find that, Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Society has lead us to believe that you can not survive without a relationship and like I mentioned before we find ourselves surrounded by society s perspective on just what exactly love is. With technology making such major improvements we also see that technology has taken its toll on love. I mean 92% of songs on the radio are about sex (Roach). Companies make billions of dollars selling love. Valentine s day, the official Hallmark scam, in 2009 made 14.7 billion dollars (Roach) with the average female spending only 72.28 and unfortunately for the males 135.35. Valentine s Day has evolved into showing others up with the best schemes of romance, and raking in a profit for the retailers. Perhaps it is time for business in the US and even globally to understand that you can t buy love, or even attraction. Most commercials on TV are all about the same. If you buy this product that does blah blah blah somehow someway you ll end up with a beautiful guy or girl around your arm. Take for example Vaibhav Bedi who for 7 years bought perfumes, deodorants, the whole nine yards from Axe to entice females. Why? Because like most commercials show in their advertisements he believed that if he bought their products women would flock to him. Sadly Mr. Bedi is still as single as 7 ... Children Of Men was released in 2007, during the global state of paranoia following the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center, an event that triggered numerous scandals under the Bush Administration s new military campaign; the War On Terror. This campaign was the government s hasty response to the terrorist acts of 2001 as part of an attempt to calm the shocked civilian attitude after September 11th attack on the World Trade Center, but actually resulted in a paranoid public attitude towards the U.S government. Released in 2007, in a decade ruled by societal paranoia concerning the U.S government, the film expresses the future that people feared 2007 was leading into. With governmental authority corrupted by a xenophobic attitude caused by terrorism that has resulted in a anti immigration sentiment across Britain, escalated to the point that the world is in utter chaos with numerous problems, it is easy to see the fingers the film makers were pointing. In sci fi, it is not uncommon to see directors playing upon people s hopes and fears of the future and portraying them in an exaggerated format, creating a world that looks uncomfortably familiar to our own. I think this may be the reason for the severe lack of technological, scientific or alien reference that one would expect to see in a typical sci fi; in keeping the world of Children Of Men underwhelmingly advanced, it uses realism to hit home the idea of a dystopian future in 2027. People were more likely to act upon the prophecy Children Of Man held if they could see that it was personally applicable to their own future. I think advanced technology and aliens, apart from having ruined the relatable feeling of 2027 Children Of Men has, would have distracted the audience and dragged the film into more of a fantasy sub genre, disrupting the clever use of sci fi ... • 16. The Journey From Darkness To Light In Mccarthy s The Road McCarthy s novel and Hillcoat s film adaptation of The Road portray a father and son s arduous journey for survival, through key scenes, themes and flashbacks. The father and son in The Road go from darkness to light in their journey from a desolate unspecified location to a better and more inviting place and future. From the very beginning McCarthy creates a strong image by repeating nothing and ash , words that suggest darkness, introducing to the reader a world where people and places names are nameless and the darkness is a state of being. The motif of light appears at the end of the novel, suggesting a possible shade of faith. The author describes this in the scene of the boy watching over his dying father a fading light, the light of a candle . However, Hillcoat s film adaptation does not capture the vast, crushed emptiness of the world envisioned by McCarthy. The film contains hope, demonstrated by the brighter lighting and continuous flashbacks portraying bright colours of nature. The film adaption also features live animals such as birds which symbolise hope. In the novel, McCarthy shows hope by describing fish swimming in the stream, whereas Hillcoat portrayed hope by showing a live beetle fly from an open can. Though they both show signs of hope and life, one was presented while the father was still alive and the other after his death. The man demonstrates consistently that he is prepared to take whatever action necessary, even if violent, to ensure his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is an enduring question, and one that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is on one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas, there are two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire imagery, Virgil makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they are very different and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two different forms of love which causes each to highlight the other. When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his home. He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on his back, he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic of his romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family. Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father Anchises and son Ascanius. There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice. However, the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire imagery of passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was ... • 19. Figurative Language In A Rose For Emily Love is a rubber band: you have it for quite a while and then it snaps and it is gone forever until you come across another. Similarly, in the short story, A Rose for Emily, Faulkner characterizes Emily as a lonely and bitter woman who tries to find love and keep that love in sync forever. Through the discovery of Homer in Emily s house after her death, Faulkner conveys to the audience that love can fall into the wrong hands when one is desperately seeking out for the need of comfort and affection. In the beginning the town characterized Miss Emily as the bitter old lady who never found love. Through this characterization the story would foreshadow what is to come. After the death of her sweetheart (before Homer) she started to seclude herself from the town. The love she had towards that man had vanished and corrupted her emotions towards other people. Faulkner implied that Miss Emily was never to love again due to all the devastations she s experienced. He chose to write it in first person point of view to show the towns opinions on how Miss Emily is reacting and how her actions show desperate need of company. Before meeting Homer, Miss Emily felt alone and she did not let anyone from town help her recuperate from her losses. She was in distraught. What if the solution to the problem ends up making the problem even worse? Such a situation in Economics is often referred to as The Cobra Effect . The term Cobra effect comes from an anecdote from colonial India. British, during their reign in India, had observed something peculiar and mysterious in their attempt at solving the growing crisis of increasing Cobra population in the northern part of their colony. The British, in their surge of curbing the increasing population of Cobras, placed a bounty on the heads of cobras to help eradicate them. Initially, their plan worked. Population of cobras declined. However, their happiness was short lived as the population sky rocketed, to the utter dismay and astonishment of the Englishmen. Shocking observations of a British General revealed that families were raising broods of cobras in their homes to earn the bounty from their heads and feed themselves from their remaining carcasses. This is an example of a perverse incentive where the incentive for the behaviour actually made the problem worse. Classical economists believed or rather assumed the fact that human beings ... Organizations are expected to actively analyze the impact of their operations on the overall financial and social systems in which they operate. Businesses should know expectations of the society and then manage their behavior and actions to yield results that address those expectations. The implementation of corporate social responsibility plan by an organization is an honor to humanity and nature. CSR discourages organizations from engaging in activities that threaten the life of people affected by its operations. An example is waste management strategies a company puts in place to ensure an appropriate disposal of by products. Waste materials can pose health dangers such as cancer, contamination of water and food which may result in illnesses or even death of community members. Additionally, natural resources such as forests and water are threatened by selfish strategies aimed at realizing financial performance without consideration of social responsibilities of the firm. • 30. The Use Of Light And Light In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road The novel The Road is a tale filled with evil and darkness with nights dark beyond darkness and the days more gray than what had gone before (McCarthy ). An unspecified apocalypse has razed the world and nearly all of human civilization, leaving a desolate world for a man and his son to traverse. In this gray, dull world there is little in the way of color or light to be seen. The sky has become gray, and the sun has been obscured, reduced to a faint, dim light. In this dark, achromatic world the use of color and light is reserved for objects and ideas of importance. Cormac McCarthy utilizes this scarcity of light and color throughout the novel to provide contrast between the old world and new, and between good and evil and to draw attention to important object and topics. The primary use of this contrast between light and dark is the man and boy s metaphorical task to carry the fire. The man and boy are stuck trudging day by day in a barren, scorched landscape of gray, endlessly foraging in wasted buildings for food and supplies (Hage 140). Murderers, cannibals, and thieves roam the bleak landscape, and evidence of their evils is witnessed at every turn of the pair s ill fated journey. The man and boy are one of the few people still holding on to their humanity in this wasteland that demands they abandon it in order to survive. The world that they inhabit is one of absolute darkness. This darkness ecompases not only the physical darkness and inhospitidy of the landscape littered with corpses, the sun blotted out, flora and fauna dead, [and] the seas poisoned, but also the moral corruption that has engulfed humanity. In this expanse of darkness the man and boy are just an oddity. Two of the last of the survivors carrying the fire and serving as a pocket of goodness in a corrupt world. Additionally, the boy s role as this metaphorical fire serves an important role in the man s ethical dilemma. The man has little desire to live in the world that he has been involuntarily thrown into. Whereas the man s wife ultimately came to the conclusion that suicide was the only sane option presented to them, the man is much more hesitant. After watching his life crumble around him the man is left with a sole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Analysis Of The Poem Salvage The Teeth Essay Salvage the Future Realism coupled with imaginative storytelling is Jesymn Ward s Salvage the Bones. Ward illuminated the struggle of poverty in a way that would pull at the reader, enticing them to question how and why this epidemic still exists in modern day America. Just like a hurricane unapologetically rips through homes, leaving people without food, shelter, and a hope to survive, so does poverty. However, there is an innate resilience in those who find a way to endure, despite the unpredictable present and future. This novel gives its reader a bleak reminder of those forgotten; those who reside on the outskirts of our consciousness. Ward implores the reader to question their own consciousness concerning poverty by welcoming them into Esch s, one filled with quiet turmoil, deep thought and apparent struggle. These raw and authentic characters express that this novel is not mere fiction. Although the future of Esch is unknown, it is Ward s intention for the reader to see her in our own realities catalyzing question, concern and action in heart and mind. She invites the reader to take both a microscopic and macroscopic look at the epidemic of poverty whose symptoms cannot be treated without being mindful of those who are directly afflicted. A child that grows up in poverty maintains a world view set apart from others. Their economic disadvantage forces them face reality and the responsibility quickly and obtrusively, giving no time for personal discovery. This novel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. How Did Industrialization Affect Russia How did industrialization effect Russia? In the early 19th century, Russia developed trade relations with other European countries and shipped out large amounts of grain. Most of the revenue that went into the empire filled the pockets of aristocrats and land owners, but it wasn t used as income to develop an industrialized economy. Industrial projects and incentives were requested often, but it rarely happened. Many felt as if it threatened financial interests of landowners. There was some heavy industry taking place (oil, steel, mining, etc.), but compared to Russia s rivals, it was very small. It finally took a loss in the Crimean War to show the desperate need for Russian industrialization. Industrialization for Russia expanded economic and industrial growth, but caused major problems. Russia before Industrialization Russia s economy was very weak with little industrialization because of a greedy upper class. After the Crimean War, Alexander II made a reform, called Emancipation of the Serfs, that would begin Russia s process of industrialization. When she did make me wear them I cried because I was so familiar with the other kids picking on me that I expected it. • 39. The State Of Nature As A State In his Leviathan, Hobbes describes the state of nature as a state of war between all men. Hobbes refers to the state of nature as a state where there is no common power over them (Leviathan 13, 293). By this, Hobbes is explaining the state of nature as a state of existence without a governing entity or laws over men. In this state, men have the right to take anything they need in order to preserve themselves (Leviathan 14, 294). Next, Hobbes explains that all men are equal in ability, and he takes great care to explain that in a single ability, such as strength, men are not equal because there will be stronger men and weaker men (Leviathan 13, 292). However, he explains that such inequalities can be overcome using deception or by acquiring allies (Leviathan 13, 292). The idea of equal ability is key to Hobbes argument because it ensures that everyone has an equal hope of attaining their ends (Leviathan 13, 293). One way to view this is each individual is able, or has the capacity, to fight because everyone is approximately equal in ability. If some individuals were stronger than others and weaker individuals had no method to counter their strength, then the weaker individuals would not want to fight because they would certainly lose. This capacity to fight gives everyone the ability to fight each other, so if have reason to fight, then they are able to fight. However, the capacity to fight is not enough because it will not necessarily drive men to fight each other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brand awareness is the ability for a customer to recognize or recall that a brand is a member of a certain product category (Aaker, 2011). Brand awareness is a fundamental attribute of customer brand equity. It tends to be an underestimated component of brand equity (Tong Hawley, 2009). The poet feels he can influence the thoughts of those left behind, with this he will try to cement the continuation of those qualities that he thinks of as being essentially English. Brooke has transformed the poem into a sonnet, not addressed to a loved one but to his country. In this poem the moods of the first few months of the war are summed up. The problem is that it is difficult to establish the extent to which the physical world exists independently of perception (Brock and Mares, 2007, p. 34). Philosophers identify a perceptual barrier preventing knowledge of whether or not what can be perceived is an accurate or literal representation of the true nature of reality; a barrier known in philosophical discourse as the veil of perception (Bennett, 1968, p. 98). In 1689 Locke wrote An Essay Concerning Human Understanding as a means of explaining this barrier, using a theory categorised by philosophers as a form of representational realism (Brock Mares, 2007, p. 49). In order to analyse the potential (or otherwise) of this approach, a philosopher needs to understand what Locke intended by his thesis of primary, secondary and tertiary qualities and consider the extent to which these may be inherently part of an object, and thereby the degree to which that object might correspond in reality with the way it is perceived. Locke s work has been significantly critiqued (either to extend the ideas, or to refute them) ever since its publication. Currently the technologically augmented insights of information theory responses to Locke s Essay use scientific evidence as a basis for both accepting and refuting Locke s theory, making it a perennially stimulating subject. This essay is going to discuss the UN recent drafting of a set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and more specifically the idea behind goal number 7 : Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all 1. Part One Because energy is one of the most fundamental states of the universe, it is easily measurable. In physics, calculating the energy of given a system is one of the most basic problems, whether the question applies to an electronics problem, thermodynamics one, or mechanical issue. We can thus assume that energy, as a hole, is easily measurable. The goal seven s first target quotes: 7.1 by 2030 ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, and modern energy services 2. From this statement, we understand that a main issue facing today sustainable development is access to energy. Because energy is easily calculable, it is straightforward to find the amount of energy we use, and the amount that is needed. Unfortunately, all of these number and terms are subject to twists that contradict themselves. Who do we define how much energy is needed ? How do we define a reliable and moderne energy service ? Yet, there is no internationally accepted definition of access to energy. Traditional Method Of Genomic Selection Genomic selection Traditional method of genetic improvement of livestock using information on phenotypes and pedigrees to predict breeding values has been very successful, however, breeding values could be predict more accurately by using information on variation in DNA sequence between animals. Research on marker assisted selection (MAS) is very extensive but has limited implementation and increases in genetic gain is small (Dekkers, 2004). Goddard and Hayes (2002) showed that the factors governing the additional gains from MAS are the accuracy of the existing estimated breeding values (EBV). Using simulation, they showed that the breeding value could be predicted with an accuracy of 0.85 from marker data alone. The major limitation to the implementation of genomic selection has been the large number of markers required and the cost of genotyping these markers (Grapes et al. 2004). Recently both these limitations have been overcome in most livestock species following the sequencing of the livestock genomes, the subsequent availability of hundreds of thousands of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). As a result of these developments there are many livestock breeding companies planning to implement genomic selection in the near future (Grapes et al. 2004). Statistical analysis to calculate EBV from genome wide DNA markers it is convenient to think of the process in three steps: i. Use the markers to deduce the genotype of each animal at each QTL. ii. Estimate the effects of each QTL genotype on the trait. iii. Sum all the QTL effects for selection candidates to obtain their genomic EBV (GEBV). As the markers are unlikely to be evenly spaced, and due to the variable nature of the LD, we could still not expect that all QTL would have an SNP in complete LD with them. This suggests that we need denser markers than are currently available. The technology to achieve this is available (Parks et al. 2007).
