This document presents an introduction to a study that will examine the effect of nitrogen from organic versus inorganic fertilizers on the growth of sweet basil plants. The introduction discusses environmental contamination from nitrogen, and the importance of nitrogen for plant growth. The study aims to determine if there is a relationship between the source of nitrogen (organic vs inorganic fertilizer) and the growth of sweet basil plants. It is hypothesized that plants grown with organic fertilizer will grow better, as organic fertilizer will provide the appropriate amount of nitrogen needed. The methodology will involve measuring plant growth and nitrogen concentrations in soil treated with organic or inorganic fertilizers over the length of the experiment.
