Big Goal
Brain Check’s big goals are to :
➢ Successfully educate teens on
depression
➢ Integrate an understanding of
mental health to society
➢ Provide helpful resources to
anyone struggling with depression
Why We Chose Teen Depression Awareness
➢ At least 20% of teens experience a period of depression before adulthood
➢ Depression increases a teen’s risk for attempting suicide by 12 times
➢ Currently the Suicide rate has increased 24% in the last twenty years and has reached
the highest rate recorded in 28 years
➢ 60% percent of adolescents with depression are not get any treatment
➢ In some way, anyone can relate to depression - seeing it or experiencing it
Depression Awareness Day- May 20th
Why May 20th?
20% of all teens will go
through a period of
depression. Thats 1 in 5
teens.
This is why we chose the
date 5/20.
What is the symbol of
DAD?
The symbol for DAD is neon
green. We chose neon
green because lime green
represents Depression
Awareness, so we wanted
something similar, yet
different, for teens.
How will DAD spread?
Social media campaigns,
reaching out to student-
centered conferences,
starting the hashtag. We
also run multiple social
media accounts to reach
other demographics
#GreenForTeens.

Brain Check is an Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that… ➢ Spreads awareness through social media campaign ➢ Educates other through workshops and websites ➢ Has created Depression Awareness Day (D.A.D.) ○ A day to remember those lost to depression and suicide (May 20th) ➢ Provides resources to teens ➢ Brings light to all those suffering Our Organization
  • 3. Big Goal Brain Check’s big goals are to : ➢ Successfully educate teens on depression ➢ Integrate an understanding of mental health to society ➢ Provide helpful resources to anyone struggling with depression
  • 4. Why We Chose Teen Depression Awareness ➢ At least 20% of teens experience a period of depression before adulthood ➢ Depression increases a teen’s risk for attempting suicide by 12 times ➢ Currently the Suicide rate has increased 24% in the last twenty years and has reached the highest rate recorded in 28 years ➢ 60% percent of adolescents with depression are not get any treatment ➢ In some way, anyone can relate to depression - seeing it or experiencing it
  • 5. Depression Awareness Day- May 20th Why May 20th? 20% of all teens will go through a period of depression. Thats 1 in 5 teens. This is why we chose the date 5/20. What is the symbol of DAD? The symbol for DAD is neon green. We chose neon green because lime green represents Depression Awareness, so we wanted something similar, yet different, for teens. How will DAD spread? Social media campaigns, reaching out to student- centered conferences, starting the hashtag. We also run multiple social media accounts to reach other demographics #GreenForTeens.

Our Plan Tier 1 ➢ Brain Check Awareness Website ➢ Awareness Posters ➢ Brain Check Awareness Hotline Tier 2 ➢ In-School/College Workshops On Depression Awareness ➢ Organizing Your Own Depression Awareness Day Tier 3 ➢ Pledging As A Brain Check Advocate ➢ Becoming a Brain Check Volunteer Brain Check has developed a system that spreads depression awareness to young adults ages 12-21. Anyone can complete all three tiers
  • 7. Brain Checks Flyer We present this flyer to students and interested volunteers to be “in the know”. Always look for these signs - and more - in children and teens.
