Group 8 presented a plan to create a website and student clubs to raise awareness about air pollution. Their goals are to educate students on air pollution and encourage renewable energy adoption. The website would provide information and suggest club activities like composting and encouraging renewable resources. Partners like Coalition for Clean Air would help fund the website and club events. Individual actions like using solar power and electric vehicles can also reduce air pollution. The group aims to inspire students to become part of the solution through education and initiatives in their communities.

4. What is air pollution?
According to the website MedPlus, air pollution is the mixture of solid
particles and gases in the air.
Causes of air pollution include but are not limited to: car and truck exhaust,
factory waste, dust, pollen, mold spores, volcanoes, wildfires, and even cow
burps, which are filled with a malignant greenhouse gas called methane.
The solid and liquid particles in the air are called aerosols.

5. Effects of Air Pollution on Humans
Effects on humans include:
● Irritation of eyes, throat, and nose
● Cardiovascular diseases
● Impacts on the reproductive system
● Impacts on the respiratory system
● Impacts on liver and blood
● Headache and anxiety impacts on central nervous system

6. Effects of Air Pollution on the Environment
● Reduction of visibility and smog can be produced, which affects the
overall temperature
● Air quality becomes worse
● Sea level rises up
● Rises in temperature
● Lowers photosynthesis rates in plants

Our big goal is to:
● Bring awareness to air pollution
● And to adopt methods of renewable energy.

8. Why We Are Passionate
Air pollution is one of the many universal issues, which affects the whole world,
and in order to have a good life, the world requires care and protection.
Since an overwhelming number of individuals around the world suffer from
asthma, especially because of the amount of air pollution, it is another reason
why we feel that our passions match this topic.
Additionally, some of the group members’ relatives are victims of the disease,
which also adds to our unwavering desire to help end air pollution. We believe
in protecting our planet of tomorrow and keeping the air we breathe clean.

To educate students on the topic of

and facilitates action against air
pollution.

10. Action Plan
In order to achieve our BIG GOAL, our team plans to create a website that
encourages our generation to take initiative and become educated on the
topic of air pollution.
Our website will be targeted to students, for we wish to help them develop
better habits at early ages. To reach out to older students, the website will
encourage them to start a Pollution Solution club in their community to
help fight air pollution all around the world .
Students who are passionate enough to start clubs will be given a list of
suggestion actives that reduce emissions.

● Gain local business support and establish composting stations
throughout the community
● Paint older buildings with an environmental friendly paint
● Clean buildings with environmentally friendly products
● Encourage others to use renewable resources
● Become familiar with renewable resource businesses and help others
discover the cheapest and most effective option for them
● Write letters to your local government recommending stricter
emission laws

● The Pollution Solution website (www.pollutionsolution.org) will collect
donations from the public that will help finance club events.
● By partnering with the organizations that were previously listed, we
will be able to sponsor more events that promote the ridding of air
pollution.

● Keep California’s air clean by advocating innovative policy solutions
within the state
● Encourage new eco-friendly technology
● Advise businesses on clean air practices

● The Central States Air Resource Agencies Association (CenSARA)
● The CenSARA Association works to promote the exchange of air
quality information, knowledge, experience, and data among central
motes states in the U.S.

15. Our International Non-Profit Partners
● The Clean Air Task Force was established 22 years ago; and through
strategic partnerships and collaborations, they have helped fight air
pollution as well as change policies and technologies needed to get to
produce a healthy planet at an affordable cost.
● Clean Air Asia is a nonprofit organisation, which aims to reduce air
pollution and greenhouse gases by conducting programs and installing
policies that promote cleaner energy use and improved air quality.
They partner with and support existing air pollution fighting
initiatives around Asia.

● Greenpeace Africa is an independent global campaigning organisation
focused on protecting the environment.
● They have used campaigns to expose important environmental issues
and bring awareness since the 1990s.

Some ways we will collaborate with our partners are:
● Getting funds to create and run our website,
● Promoting our website by including our link on our partners’ websites,
● And once a club is established, our partners will assist in funding club
activities and events in their region.

20. Implementing at Home
In order to reduce the amount of aerosol in the atmosphere, one way is to
use renewable resources for power. Some examples an individual can
achieve at home are:
● Using a solar panel for electricity at home,
● Use wind turbine-generated electricity if it’s available,
● Burning biofuel or using an electric car for transportation,
● Using geothermal energy for air conditioning,
● Or even hydroelectricity if you’re near a body of moving water.

21. Change Starts with You
There are many different ways that everyone, no matter what age or
background, can help to reduce air pollution. Another batch of simple ways to
reduce the toxic air emissions coming from your home include:
● Purchasing products with the ENERGY STAR logo,
● Turning off the lights,
● Choosing a cleaner commute,
● And attempting to use environmentally-safe cleaning products and paints
whenever possible.
Remember, change starts with you. Be a part of the solution, not the pollution!
