This document outlines plans to start a nonprofit organization to provide food to low-income families. The organization's vision is to give struggling families reliable access to nutritious food through a collection program where kids participate after school every other day. An action plan details securing space, researching funding sources, creating eligibility criteria, and obtaining food supplies. Potential roadblocks like lack of support, funds and resources are addressed. The document encourages volunteers and donations to accomplish the goal of feeding those in need in the local community.

even if the past has burnt me
I can still rise from the ashes.

3. The Big Goal
◦ Food for low-income families
◦ Struggling / in need
◦ Develop into a facility
◦ Food -> donations from the public
4. Project Vision
Our vision is for struggling families to have
reliable access to nutritionally balanced
food via a collection program the kids would
participate in every other day after school.
5. Non-Profit Organizations
● Low income families are still people
● They are all around us
● Many people struggling with hunger don’t
have to,
● 1 in 7 people are hungry; ⅓ of food is
wasted
● The more we help, the more we help the
community
Why we care
“Hunger is not caused by a scarcity of
food, but by a scarcity of democracy”
~ Frances Moore Lappè
6. Action Plan
◦ Secure space from principle/county
◦ Research sponsorships and grants for funding
◦ Make a family to income to index for eligibility
◦ Target date October 2019
◦ Secure contacts for food supply
◦ Target date November 2019
7. How To Accomplish
◦ Start collecting supplies
◦ Research and contact big name stores/local companies for
sponsorships
◦ Discuss with principal to find room in a school to store our
supply
◦ Ask volunteers to help organize, distribute, and fundraise
produce
◦ Prefer healthy foods, mainly non-perishable
◦ Provide more opportunities to give fresh produce (inviting to a
vegetable picking, opening a farmer’s market, etc…)
`
8. Fundraising
● Concessions at school sports events
● Grant applications
● Local corporate and people donations
● Car washes, Bake sales, Candy sales, etc
9. Non-Profit Organizations
Feeding America
◦ Partnership
◦ Grants
◦ Food Donations
On average, in the state of
Pennsylvania, the number of people
that go hungry at night is one
out of nine people. We could use
this at a smaller scale and plan to
get enough food for one out of
nine people in our community,
10. Roadblocks
Support
◦ Lack of advisors at school
◦ Contact local community leaders
◦ Family and friends
Funds
◦ Lack of financial support
◦ Apply for grants
◦ Donations from community
Resources
◦ Lack of donated food
◦ Promote movement
◦ Lack of community contribution and
involvement
◦ Offer the people who benefit from
program to volunteer
◦ Offer volunteer hours to students
11. Steps to Take Home
1. We are going to find a space at school and talk to our principal in order to reserve
the school after hours.
2. We’ll start to fundraise or get donations and/or sponsorships
3. We will start collecting to make our packages.
4. We’ll also get started an application process to see which families need more or less.
5. We will try to start it as a after school activity or club.
6. Set out packages for the families to come and pick up.
7. Try to have it more days and so you can get a package for the weekend like (Mon./
Wed./ Fri.)
