4. Big
Goal
Our main goal is to develop a
telephone hotline with each
number on the keypad linked to a
professional who can help them get
through a specific mental health
issue without talking to them face to
face.
5. Research: Depression
- A mental illness also known as a mental disorder, is a behavioral pattern which causes
distress or weakness of personal functioning

you think, and the way you act.
● 322 million people suffers from mental illness world-wide.
○ Depression is most common amongst teens.
● 1 in 5 teens suffer from depression before they reach adulthood.
● Roughly about half of teens that take antidepressants improve their current state.
● Female teens develop depression twice as much as male teens.
● Approximately ⅔ of teens with major depression also battles another mood disorder such as
anxiety.
● Every 100 minutes, a teen commits suicide.
6. Research: Anxiety
● Anxiety is intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday
situations.
● Symptoms for anxiety include fast heart rate, rapid breathing, sweating and
feeling tired.
● 9% of teens have some type of anxiety disorder.
○ 8.3% of those with an anxiety disorder have severe weakness as a result.
● 38% of female teens have an anxiety disorder.
● 26.1% of male teens have an anxiety disorder.
● 19.9% of teens have a specific phobia.
8. Action Plan
Step 1: Raise funds for the amount needed to create the number for the telephone hotline.
Step 2: Find various professional therapists that specialize in different issues and types of depression and
anxiety.
Step 3: Make each number on the keypad a representation of a different issue. The therapists that
handle each specific issue will be connected to the dial number.
Step 4: Each caller will first answer a few questions about why they are calling to be directed to the
number that most fits their answers.
Step 5: When the caller is sent to the keypad digit that most fits their current issue, they will have the
opportunity to speak one-on-one with qualified therapists to get the help that they need.
- Set up social media accounts for advertising.
- Advertise the hotline at school boards, schools, city boards, and other places of community
authority.
