• Evaluate (anywhere between 15-20
marks)

MEDIA PURPOSES
 Entertain: Gaining the attention of the audience so
that they relax and enjoy the activity
 Educate/Inform: Providing facts about a topic or
answering a question. Informing is providing
information whereas educating is teaching the
audience/consumer.
 Advertise/Promote: Raising the awareness of a
product in potential customers. Trying to increase the
popularity of a brand and persuade customers to
engage or purchase it.
ACTIVITY: For each purpose, write down three specific media
that perform this and how, e.g. BBC Bitesize website educates
students about different subjects

Informing is providing information whereas educating is teaching the audience/consumer.  Advertise/Promote: Raising the awareness of a product in potential customers. Trying to increase the popularity of a brand and persuade customers to engage or purchase it. ACTIVITY: For each purpose, write down three specific media that perform this and how, e.g. BBC Bitesize website educates students about different subjects
