Presidential Vs. Congressional Campaigns
Presidential versus congressional campaigns
Introduction
Two phases: getting nominated and getting elected
Getting nominated
Getting a name on the ballot
An individual effort (versus organizational effort in Europe)
Parties play a minor role (compared with Europe)
Parties used to play a major role
Major differences
Presidential races are more competitive.
House races have lately been one sided for Democrats.
Presidential winner rarely gets more than 55 percent of vote
Most House incumbents are reelected (more than 90 percent)
Fewer people vote in congressional elections
Unless election coincides with presidential election

Investigate how the Concentration of Sucrose Solution...
Investigate how the Concentration of Sucrose Solution affects the Mass of the Potato Chip
Aim
To find out how the concentration of sucrose solution affects the mass of the potato chip left in the
solution for one day.
Water Potential:
The water potential of a solution is a measure of whether it is likely to lose or gain water molecules
from another solution. A dilute solution, with its high proportion of free water molecules, is said to
have higher water potential than a concentrated solution, because water will flow from the dilute to the
concentrated solution (from a high potential to a low potential). Pure water has the highest possible
water potential because water molecules will flow from pure water to any other ... Show more content

A low concentration of sucrose in ratio to water will make the potato increase in length and mass.
I predict that when the sucrose concentration is low the potato chip will gain mass. This is because
there will be a higher water concentration in the potato chip so water will go into the potato from the
solution. I predict that when there is a high concentration of sucrose the potato will lose mass. This is
because there is a higher concentration of sucrose solution compared to that in the potato chip so water
from the potato will go into the solution to even it out.
In my experiment I will have a test tube with a potato chip in. The outside wall of the potato chip is
selectively permeable so it lets water pass through it but not bigger molecules such as sucrose. In the
test tubes I will put different concentrations of sucrose solution
When the concentration of the solution is lower than that in the potato, water will pass through the
selectively permeable wall into the potato. The mass of the potato chip increases.
RESULTS:
Concentration Initial mass Final mass Change in mass % change
0 0.91 0.96 0.05 5.50 0.1 0.92 0.94 0.02 2.17 0.2 1.14 0.83

Essay on Walker s Message of Personal Heritage in...
Alice Walker s Everyday Use is a short story about a mother and two very different daughters set in
rural Georgia during the late 1960 s. The plot is centered around on the two daughters, Dee and
Maggie, and focusing on the differences between the two and who will gain possession of two hand
made quilts that are seen as a coveted trophy by Dee and are viewed as everyday items Maggie. The
final decision of which daughter ultimately receives the quilts will be made by Momma Johnson.
Momma, who is never given a first name in the story, is a strong black woman with many man like
qualities. In real life I am a large, big boned woman with rough, man working hands. In the winter I
wear flannel nightgowns to bed and overalls during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will be focusing this paper on the reasons why Maggie should be given the quilts, reasons why Dee
should not be allowed to take them, and what this tell us about Alice Walker s sense of what it means
to be in touch with one s heritage. Maggie deserves the quilts because she appreciates the practical
value of the items and would naturally use them as they were intended. Like her grandmother, Maggie
is a person who values the quilts more as a practical solution for staying warm at night than as folk art
which should be displayed in a museum. Dee s thoughts of her simple minded sister come into full
light during a conversation with Momma when her request for the quilts is denied. Maggie can t
appreciate these quilts! She d probably be backward enough to put them the everyday use. I reckon
she would, Momma replied, God knows I been saving em long enough with nobody using em. I hope
she will. (DiYanni 748) With little or no money during tough times, poorer families have often had to
be more self reliant where learning to sew was a skill that was valued and passed down to the younger
generation. Maggie embraced this skill while her more ambitious sister did not see the value in
learning such an ordinary task. She can always make more, Momma said, Maggie knows how to

Minor Assignment Marketing Mix
[minor assignment] | Write a 1500 word report describing the 4 marketing mix elements and discuss
how these are applied to retail petrol outlets. |
Introduction
This report has been compiled in order to describe the four most common elements of the marketing
mix which are described by Elliot, Rundle Thiele and Waller (2010 p.18 21) in the following few
sentences. * Product A good, service or idea offered to the market for exchange. (p.18) * Price The
amount of money a business demands in exchange for its offerings. (p.20) * Promotion The marketing
activities that make potential customers, partners and society aware of and attracted to the business s
offerings. (p.20) * Place (Distribution) The means of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an obvious demand for petrol, as almost everyone who is able, drives or rides a vehicle which
requires fuel to run. So it could be argued that retail petrol stations don t necessarily set their own
prices, but go off supplier guidelines which base their fuel pricing strategy on demand, Demand based
pricing sets prices according to the level of aggregate or individual customer demand in the market.
(Elliott et al. 2010 p. 250) Elliott et al. also continue to write that both Caltex Woolworths and Coles
Express hold more than 60% of the Australian fuel market share (2010 p.268) so high demand from
their suppliers will enable them to lower their fuel prices and therefore gain more customers, earning
higher profits.
Pricing of other products offered by retail petrol outlets such as bread or milk tend to have the
opportunity to be competitive and more fairly priced than a standard petrol station, the major grocery
companies behind retail petrol outlets like Woolworths and Coles focus on gaining more ground off
one and other, price drops are reflected in store and this also proves more profitable, because
consumers are drawn into purchasing something they wouldn t normally associate with their petrol.
Promotion
An important aspect in the success of retail petrol outlets is in their promotion, or the way in which
their fuels and other products are portrayed to potential customers. There are many numbers of ways
in which retail petrol

Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet I, Being Born a Woman...
Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed
Edna St. Vincent Millay s sonnet, I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed, serves as an excellent
example of a multi faceted piece. From one angle, it is simply a Petrarchan sonnet, written with a
slight variation on rhyme scheme but that variation, taken deeper, reveals new layers of meaning.
Added to Millay s choice of meter and end stop, along with a background of Millay s person, this
sonnet seems not so simple after all.
Millay, though she married in 1923, was known to have extramarital affairs, purportedly with both
women and men. (wikipedia.com) In the context of this particular sonnet, such seems revealing indeed

In Wordsworth s sonnet, he uses only the four rhymes to show that, even in constraining himself, he is
still free. He may be confined to a cell or a rhyme scheme, but it is in such confinements that he finds
liberty. Millay, too, is playing off of this idea simply by being a woman she is confined by society, but
through her poetry she can recognized for the brilliant writer she is; hence, she quite literally frees her
poetic reputation by constraining herself to such strict bounds. The irony in this reference to
Wordsworth s work, however, is the contrasting subject matters he writes of metaphorical nuns, while
she writes of rejection and lovers.
The second interpretation of Millay s constrained rhyme scheme is a fair bit simpler. Her choice of
words throughout the work is calm and cool distanced from the audience. There is none of the anger
that usually accompanies a lovers breakup; Millay is reserved, restraining her emotions. This
translates through to her rhyme scheme, which is also reserved. Here, she pulls back both from her
lover, and from tradition.
The sonnet s meter, on the other hand, is a bit more erratic, and betrays more feeling. Most of the
piece is in a steady iambic pentameter, but it varies four times just after the turn (line 8) of the sonnet.

Four Season Hotel Sustainability Essay
Introduction
In the present, sustainability is increasingly seen as an important factor in our society, especially in
organizations such as accommodation provider or tour company. According to Ullman (2009)
Sustainability practice is very important, because all the actions that we make today will affect
everything in the future, therefore we need to make flexible decisions at present in order to avoid
some negative consequences. By adopting sustainability practices, companies are able to gain
competitive edge, increase their market share, and boost shareholder value (Frandsen, Morsing,
Vallentin, 2013). Sustainability issues does not always refer to environmental sustainability but also
relate to economic and social sustainability. This report will discuss and identify the most important
sustainability issues that Four Season Hotel Sydney is facing, then apply an appropriate tourism
sustainability criteria and assess how this hotel is addressing sustainability, finally talk about how to
improve sustainability practices and recommendations.

My Opinion About A.A.Milne s A Word for Autumn
Essay.
What can be more dreadful than autumn? Every year we say farewell to summer and always think of it
as the end of the world, to tell the truth, me, too. Undoubtedly, there are people who are fascinated
with autumn, they like it. Anyway, it s a beautiful time of the year, very picturesque and bright,
especially during September. Leaves are red, orange, yellow, golden brown and amber. The air is cool,
crisp and the sky looks darker and more boundless in the evenings. But...it s autumn and nothing can
be done till the next June. It s like a damnation and a punishment for relaxed and carefree summer we
ve just spent.
A.A. Milne shares the other point of view in his essay A Word for Autumn . The narrator is kind of a
relativist here. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think it s in the air, this feeling of happiness, of youth and joyful moments. Everything makes a mix
of complete and sunny summer bliss and that s how it goes from year to year.
That s why, may be, it so important to keep this feeling and thought inside, and bring it throughout
autumn and winter. We still don t have such a skill. To be honest, me not. I try to cultivate this habit in
me but every time it s in vain and A. A. Milne on the contrary succeeded in it and I m a little envious
about him in this way. He is epicurean here, he takes the best of life while he can, he enjoys every
moment of life. He sees it s beauty in the fresh celery and a wedge of cheese , in vegetables and fruits,
in the pipe he just smoked, in taverns and London inns.
And here comes the thought that it s a good life and it s going to be this way no matter what happens.
The narrator wanted to make us think about it and he did. He ensured me and here I agree with him
that: The end of the summer is not the end of the world. Here s to October and, waiter, some more

Comparison Of Magazines And Men s Health
Women s Health and Men s Health are magazines that generally revolve around appearances. Both
magazines advertise sex tricks or benefits, ways to improve your health, and the most numerous topic
being techniques or plans to lose weight. Along the lines of losing weight, both magazines make a
point to specifically address the desire for toned abs. These magazines target men and women
professionals probably ranging from late 20s to mid 40s. The intended audiences of these magazines
are responsible for the majority of purchases that sustain and determine our society s economy. I chose
these magazines because their audiences have a significant impact on the progression of culture.
Therefore, the common necessity of exercise is presented in a way to persuade readers to agree with
their beliefs or buy a product or plan being advertised. Another reason I chose these magazines is
because I know they are commonly read and a popular magazine to buy. My own mother buys Women
s Health. Consequently, many people frequently read these magazines and are exposed to their style of
advertising and their beliefs.

The Link Between Market Baseline And The Public Objectives
3.2 The link between the market baseline and the public objectives In some situations, countries often
provided a loan to specific enterprises or made some advantageous policies in order to achieve public
goals. Hence, some people questioned whether the public objectives should be taken into
consideration when the benefit analysis is operated. This question has raised great controversy. Some
people think that the determination of subsidies and the public objectives are two different matters,
while others argue that the public objectives should be taken into account. They further declared that
the government, which pursues public goals should be tested by public investor standard, rather than
the private investor standard. From the perspective of the author, the public objectives should not be
taken into account when the advantage analysis in the subsidy law is operated. A typical case which
was not officially confirmed could provide us some inspirations.

English Descriptive Narrative essay
It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. The air was fresh and the fog was rolling off of

the wedding, people were gathered in large groups, everywhere, bickering with one another. Over 450

It was like she was walking on clouds. Walking with grace in every foot step, she came out from

It was her day to celebrate. All eyes were on her. As I took a glance at the groom I knew this was a

Death Penalty Impact On Society
The death penalty is a legal process where the person who had committed an insane crime of murder
is sentenced to death by the state, as a demonstration of punishment for what the accuser has
committed. Since long before, people have been using this method not only to show the consequences
of committing an insane crime, but also as a kind of notice to anyone who had the intentions of
committing such crimes. With no doubt, the death penalty has been a part of combating human crime
in society for many centuries, and is considered a necessary way to eradicate dangerous criminals. In
other people s views, the subject of needing the death penalty became considered as an inhumane and
unjust way to control and prevent criminal activity, its purpose and forms of use have been questioned
for many years and the debate on whether it is necessary or not has been circling around. The death
penalty needs to be kept in place as a way to prevent insane crimes, by taking an in depth look at how
it affects society. A just society requires the death penalty for the taking of a life. When a criminal
takes a life the justice a society has established is disturbed and the only way to accommodate for that
disturbance is to restore the peace by taking the criminal s life. Therefore, this allows society to show
that murder or any other act of the same sort is intolerable. The death penalty ensures criminals that
commit murder and rape won t escape or be released again. Ernest Van Den Haag, a

Clockwork Orange Punishment
Nietzsche s Good and Evil Taken to the Extreme in the Chaotic Society of A Clockwork Orange.
When it comes to a prime example of questioning morality in Kubrick s films A Clockwork Orange is
a go to case study of free will and the morality of judgement and punishment. The film is an analysis
of humanity and explores topics such as aversion therapy which is not just a dystopian fantasy but
exists in the real world. It analyses punishment and examines the justice system both with portraying
the classic punishment method like the prison and the rehabilitation method.
Gehkre states that:
The clockwork metaphor has long been a tradition of western sciences, both physical and social.
Dreams of predicting and controlling human behaviour have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With the help of Alex s perspective, the film also criticises the choices society makes. Going back to
Nietzsche s views on morality, it is worth noting that he condemns the Judeo Christian morality as too
strict and unhealthy. However, using that philosophy A Clockwork Orange again shows the opposite
as the society and law system s ethics are very much radical and they believe that the only way they
could eradicate the crime and chaos in society is to take people s right of choice. In their criminology
analysis of A Clockwork Orange Lichtenberg, Lune and McManimon (2004) sum up the main issue
concerned in the film with the statemen confirmed by the prison chaplain that: If there is no choice,
there is no morality. Therefore, Kubrick s film focuses on some important questions and problems that
are shown as issues of a dystopian society but are also truly problems present in contemporary society
as well such as: could the spectator blame the establishment for being cruel and immoral if they are
trying their hardest to eradicate relentless crime or is taking someone s free will and right to choose an
inhuman thing to do overall? The title of the film ties in with Alex s journey and character
development as he is transformed and programmed as a machine not able to

How Did Columbus Discover America
Zerubavel would most likely answer the question did Columbus discover America? by pointing out
that not only did Native Americans live on the continent before Columbus and Europe truly
discovered it, but that there are findings of what seemed to be inscriptions, scripts that infact, are
legible and several different sculptures with pre Columbian faces on them, and stone reliefs all over
America, that stun puzzled observers with their unmistakably European, Semitic, African, and
Oriental feature (11). Another example of Columbus not being the first to discover America was that
Leif Erikson had landed on its northern shores only five centuries earlier (3), leading the Norse. The
Norse first encounter with the New World happened approximately around the year 1001. However,
the Norse may have only stayed in the New World for about two and a half decades or so do to the
archaeological findings. But besides the archaeological findings, there is also physical proof that the
Norse had indeed, first encountered America. According to carbon dating from a site that points to the
eleventh century, there were findings of a spindle whorl, a smithy, cooking pits, hearths, slag, rivets,
and a bronze pan, along with eight houses sites. All of these items were found about fifty years ago at
the northern tip of Newfoundland. Where the Norse had usually ... Show more content on

Wiretapping In The United States
Many state legislatures in the United States enacted statutes that prohibited anybody from listening in
on telegraph communication. Telephone wiretapping began in the 1890s, following the invention of
the telephone recorder,[46] and its constitutionality was established in the Prohibition Era conviction
of bootlegger Roy Olmstead. Wiretapping has also been carried out under most Presidents, sometimes
with a lawful warrant since the Supreme Court ruled it constitutional in 1928. On October 19, 1963,
U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who served under John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B.
Johnson, authorized the FBI to begin wiretapping the communications of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The wiretaps remained in place until April 1965 at his home and June 1966 at his office.[47] The
history of voice communication technology begins in 1876 with the invention of Alexander Graham
Bell s telephone. In the 1890s, law enforcement agencies begin tapping wires on early telephone
networks .[48] Remote voice communications were carried almost exclusively by circuit switched

The s First Modern Grocery Store
Moreover, on that bright June day the hurry and spring in the pretty redhead s step had a teeny bit to
do with what her best friend, Sylvia, had told her earlier that same morning: someone new had come
to town; a handsome, mysterious young man. All the harbor girls whispered in delight; gossiping,
speculating and wondering who would land the first date with this new guy. Rumors had it that he had
started work at the newly opened First National, the harbor s first modern grocery store. Oh sure, there
were fish markets and butcher shops and the likes, but mostly, folks had milk, cheese and butter
delivered, and the majority of women made their own bread and put up their own vegetables and
preserves. However, now with this new grocery store, their basics could all be purchased in one locale.
The young man that the girls were all buzzing about had only been in Cutler Harbor for two days or
so, no one had met him yet. It was Priscilla, who told Natalie; he lived in Damariscotta, some twenty
miles away (he did). Then Natalie told Sylvia that she heard he had a car (he did not). In conclusion,
Sylvia told Lelia he looked like a dreamboat, just like Clark Gable (he did). The person Lelia had
worn her hand sewn dress for, and couldn t wait to witness with her own eyes was Owen Isaac Bauer.
Beyond a doubt, his handsome appearance unearthed the dreamboat the gossip had depicted him. His

The Bedford V. Prostitution Case
Prostitution is one of the oldest professions throughout the ancient and modern culture. It has been
around for one of the longest times. Prostitution will possibly be found where one finds evidence of
life and human. By definition, prostitution is known as commercial sex. A prostitute receives payment
in exchange for sexual services between another person. However, the criminalization of prostitution
is necessary in most countries as there is capital gain involved, puts the environment at a greater risk
of violence, and causes less protection for sex workers. Most countries including Canada have done an
effective job in outlawing prostitution with new legislations. Current Canadian laws tend to respect
sex workers and additionally, address their issues as well. Within my essay, facts about the Bedford V.
Prostitution case along with the government s response to the case will be addressed. Media coverage
and representation of the case will be discussed along with the media coverage in relation to
criminalization of prostitution amongst different viewpoints will be analyzed. A critical opinion about
the current state of law in Canada in regards to criminalization of prostitution will also be addressed.
Comparison between the academic articles and media will also be discussed in depth. The current laws
in Canada for prostitution are fairly effective by ending demand for sexual services in Canada as Bill
C 36 was passed. In 2007, three sex workers, Terri

Denver Apartment Building Highlights the Continued Dangers of Asbestos
One Denver Apartment building, located at 330 Acoma Street in the Baker neighborhood was featured

experience. In order to understand how American Graffiti depicts a teen experience the camera, sound,
characters and mis en scene will be analysed. It will be discussed on how Lucas portrays teen
experiences through each character s action and how their teen experience changes through the film
through the use of the camera, sound and mis en scene. Also, it will be discussed how each characters

In the hop scene, Curt is seen walking down an empty school hall wall walking towards a locker. The
camera dollies towards the locker following Curt s movements as he turns the dials on the lock to

Analysis Of The Fly By Katherine Mansfield
The hunger for power continues to dominate. The short story The Fly by Katherine Mansfield
demonstrates how power can be abused by symbolizing World War One. The various symbols in this
story demonstrate the perspective Mansfield has on the war as well as showing the various point of
views. It is important to acknowledge what abusing power can lead to and this story shows it
effectively.
The boss, although portrayed to be devastated over the loss of his brave son in World War One, is an
allegory for the war generals. This is shown by the use of control and power, childlike actions and lack
of reflection on his actions. From the beginning, the boss establishes that he is in control. He speaks
about the new upgrades he has done to his office to Mr. Woodifield and, It gave him a feeling of deep,
solid satisfaction to be planted there in the midst of it in full view of that frail old figure in the muffler.
(Mansfield 1). Even though Mr. Woodifield is five years his junior he sees himself as above him. This
mood is established very early in the story and shows how he enjoys being in control and being
superior, like a war general. The boss lacks compassion and basic humanity after he is done playing
with the fly. When the fly is finally finished fighting for life, the boss, ... flung it into the waste paper
basket. (6). This shows how disposable the generals thought the soldiers were; after one is dead, they
are discarded and life continues. This over playing is also childish. Mansfield may be implying that
the generals were quite childish, by mentioning how Mr. Woodifield was peeking around to see the
boss, ... as a baby peers out of its pram. (1). Even though it is not the boss doing the peeking, the fact
that the childness was noted is an indication of Mansfield s perspective of the generals. Despite the
boss son fighting and dying in the war, the boss does not learn anything from this similar event with
the fly. He forgets what he was thinking about before the fly dies and wonders, What was it? It was...
For the life of him he could not remember. (6). The tragedy of war is often blinding. This blindness
caused by those traumatic events lead to a lack of understanding. Without an understanding of

Genghis Kh The Emperor And Founder Of The Mongol Empire

History 300
16 November 2014
Genghis Khan Genghis Khan was the emperor and founder of the Mongol Empire, a man known
throughout history for his ruthlessness, and success, as head of the largest land based empire during
his tenure. A nomadic people, the Mongols spent many years prior to the great success of Genghis
living in turmoil, lacking a leader to unify and lead the people to greater success than simply
surviving. Prior to his death in August 1227 and subsequent burial back in Mongolia, Genghis Khan s
Mongol Empire spanned from China to Eastern Europe, Vietnam into Siberia, encompassing the
people and cultures of those conquered in these lands. In order to impose his will and assert
dominance over Russia, Eastern Europe, China, and the heartland of Islam, Genghis Khan
revolutionized warfare and weaponry, bringing a swift end to any enemy standing in his path. With a
territory stretching across Asia into Europe, and with his undersized army fighting and defeating much
larger forces, Genghis Khan s strongest attribute was his military prowess. Despite conquering
numerous civilizations over a vast area of land and influencing the cultures, governing, social lives,
and more, Genghis Khan s greatest influence on the world throughout his ventures was his influence
on the military, through tactics, weaponry, and leadership. Born sometime in the 1160s, the youth
named Temujin began his life with a series of physical, mental, and emotional tests

Athletes s Social Status Of Professional Athletes Impact...
In many societies, there exists a high passion for athletics and those who excel in their given sport are
often considered to be some of the most valued members of society. Take, for example, the way in
which Olympic athletes are celebrated for performing well on the international stage. The study of
how sports, as social phenomena, affect interactions between people and how these interactions lead to
the further solidification of the social hierarchy, is known as sociology of sport. The study of the
sociology of sport shows that as athletes continue their interactions with the common people of
society, they develop a sense of Glorified Self as a result of the achieved status they are given by
others. This could raise the question, how does the achieved social status of professional athletes
impact the development of their Glorified Self? As athletes continue to achieve status in society, the
Looking Glass Self Theory developed by Charles Horton Cooley offers an explanation as to why these
athletes develop senses of Glorified Self. Additionally, as athletes continue to develop a larger sense of
Glorified Self, their instinctive impulses further contrast their critical conscience. This conflict is the
subject of Sigmund Freud s hypothesis on the relationship between the Id and Superego. Freud s
theory leads to a further explanation as to why athletes begin to act they way they do once they
achieve a status level higher than what they were ascribed.

The Literal Approach Of Contract
Essay A When interpreting a contract, the literal approach is often taken to determine what was meant
by the contract. The literal approach to contract interpretation means that when looking over a
contract, words are assigned their ordinary meaning. Words are interpreted literally, as they ordinarily
would be, regardless of the presumed context. However, giving words their ordinary meaning without
adjusting for the context of the situation may cause problems. An example would be when a business
places a clause in a contract proclaiming that any fees or costs associated with, say, the hourly cost of
renting equipment, are subject to change without notice. This contract would cause problems should
the fees suddenly be raised by an exorbitant amount because the literal approach would side with the
business as they literally state that they could alter their fees at any time without any notice, and they
reserve the right to change prices as they see fit. If, in the example given previously, the business
hiked rental fees from $5,000 to $50,000 per year, the literal approach could be taken and be fully
justifiable but could be problematic. Clearly, a reasonable person would see that a tenfold increase is
completely unreasonable, but the literal approach would defend this. Therefore, it would be important
to look at the other three forms of contractual interpretation to decide this matter. The contextual
approach would result in a sharply different interpretation of a contract

The Controversy In Church
The community I will be focusing on is my church community. The name of the church is called
Intense Deep Bible Church and it was pastored by Willard Abena. About 5 years ago, there was a
controversy in the church which sparked division in the church and also causing the pastor to be
suspended. At this time, the issue was explained thoroughly to the church congregation and a lot of
people were not happy with the results. Whilst the issue was being explained to the church
congregation, the youths and children were asked to leave the church and at that point in time, I was
considered a youth. So I was not able to figure out what was going on and why I haven t seen my
pastor in church for a very long time, until I became and adult at the age of 18.
When I became an adult, I came to the realization that the pastor was removed due to him making
some personal spiritual mistakes which were never disclosed to the public congregation and was not
tolerable by the church leaders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The church community also needs to be addressed on how the new pastor s family was treated and
why it is wrong, especially in an environment where all the members are supposed to feel welcome
and treated like family, according to the biblical scriptures. The family of the new pastor and the new
pastor needs to be apologized to. If they are not apologized to, they may continue to distance
themselves from the church. Another issue is that when an issue like that of the founding pastor came
to pass, the congregation was not well informed because of the privacy of the pastor. Because of this
lack of information, parts of the church community were upset. If the church leadership can work on
giving the church community a more adequate information, it can reduce the confusion that results in
the division of the

In a nutshell, it is because the economic benefits are grossly overstated and are outweighed by the
wide ranging environmental, public health and weapons proliferation problems and risks. Uranium
accounted for 0.19 per cent of Australia s export revenue in 2011/12 (the last available figures)1. By
the most generous estimate, uranium accounts for 0.015% of all jobs in Australia.2 For Queensland,
there is the additional limitation that the state has around just 2% of Australia s uranium resources.
Clearly, the industry has no capacity to deliver significant economic or employment benefits. Instead
of acknowledging the extremely limited economic potential of uranium mining in Queensland, the
LNP state government, the Australian Uranium Association and the Queensland Resources Council
have continued a pattern of extravagant and unsubstantiated claims regarding jobs, revenue and
royalties. Enthusiasm is no substitute for evidence and limited sectoral self interest is not the same as
the public interest. The assumptions and analysis of those promoting the uranium sector in Queensland

House races have lately been one sided for Democrats. Investigate how the Concentration of Sucrose Solution affects the Mass of the Potato Chip Aim To find out how the concentration of sucrose solution affects the mass of the potato chip left in the solution for one day. Water Potential: The water potential of a solution is a measure of whether it is likely to lose or gain water molecules from another solution. A dilute solution, with its high proportion of free water molecules, is said to have higher water potential than a concentrated solution, because water will flow from the dilute to the concentrated solution (from a high potential to a low potential). Pure water has the highest possible water potential because water molecules will flow from pure water to any other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A low concentration of sucrose in ratio to water will make the potato increase in length and mass. I predict that when the sucrose concentration is low the potato chip will gain mass. This is because there will be a higher water concentration in the potato chip so water will go into the potato from the solution. I predict that when there is a high concentration of sucrose the potato will lose mass. This is because there is a higher concentration of sucrose solution compared to that in the potato chip so water from the potato will go into the solution to even it out. In my experiment I will have a test tube with a potato chip in. The outside wall of the potato chip is selectively permeable so it lets water pass through it but not bigger molecules such as sucrose. In the test tubes I will put different concentrations of sucrose solution When the concentration of the solution is lower than that in the potato, water will pass through the selectively permeable wall into the potato. The mass of the potato chip increases. RESULTS: Concentration Initial mass Final mass Change in mass % change 0 0.91 0.96 0.05 5.50 0.1 0.92 0.94 0.02 2.17 0.2 1.14 0.83 ... • 7. Essay on Walker s Message of Personal Heritage in... Alice Walker s Everyday Use is a short story about a mother and two very different daughters set in rural Georgia during the late 1960 s. The plot is centered around on the two daughters, Dee and Maggie, and focusing on the differences between the two and who will gain possession of two hand made quilts that are seen as a coveted trophy by Dee and are viewed as everyday items Maggie. The final decision of which daughter ultimately receives the quilts will be made by Momma Johnson. In the winter I wear flannel nightgowns to bed and overalls during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will be focusing this paper on the reasons why Maggie should be given the quilts, reasons why Dee should not be allowed to take them, and what this tell us about Alice Walker s sense of what it means to be in touch with one s heritage. Maggie deserves the quilts because she appreciates the practical value of the items and would naturally use them as they were intended. Like her grandmother, Maggie is a person who values the quilts more as a practical solution for staying warm at night than as folk art which should be displayed in a museum. Dee s thoughts of her simple minded sister come into full light during a conversation with Momma when her request for the quilts is denied. Maggie can t appreciate these quilts! She d probably be backward enough to put them the everyday use. I reckon she would, Momma replied, God knows I been saving em long enough with nobody using em. I hope she will. (DiYanni 748) With little or no money during tough times, poorer families have often had to be more self reliant where learning to sew was a skill that was valued and passed down to the younger generation. Maggie embraced this skill while her more ambitious sister did not see the value in learning such an ordinary task. She can always make more, Momma said, Maggie knows how to ... • 8. Minor Assignment Marketing Mix [minor assignment] | Write a 1500 word report describing the 4 marketing mix elements and discuss how these are applied to retail petrol outlets. | Introduction This report has been compiled in order to describe the four most common elements of the marketing mix which are described by Elliot, Rundle Thiele and Waller (2010 p.18 21) in the following few sentences. * Product A good, service or idea offered to the market for exchange. (p.18) * Price The amount of money a business demands in exchange for its offerings. (p.20) * Promotion The marketing activities that make potential customers, partners and society aware of and attracted to the business s offerings. (p.20) * Place (Distribution) The means of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is an obvious demand for petrol, as almost everyone who is able, drives or rides a vehicle which requires fuel to run. So it could be argued that retail petrol stations don t necessarily set their own prices, but go off supplier guidelines which base their fuel pricing strategy on demand, Demand based pricing sets prices according to the level of aggregate or individual customer demand in the market. (Elliott et al. 2010 p. 250) Elliott et al. also continue to write that both Caltex Woolworths and Coles Express hold more than 60% of the Australian fuel market share (2010 p.268) so high demand from their suppliers will enable them to lower their fuel prices and therefore gain more customers, earning higher profits. Pricing of other products offered by retail petrol outlets such as bread or milk tend to have the opportunity to be competitive and more fairly priced than a standard petrol station, the major grocery companies behind retail petrol outlets like Woolworths and Coles focus on gaining more ground off one and other, price drops are reflected in store and this also proves more profitable, because consumers are drawn into purchasing something they wouldn t normally associate with their petrol. Promotion An important aspect in the success of retail petrol outlets is in their promotion, or the way in which their fuels and other products are portrayed to potential customers. There are many numbers of ways in which retail petrol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet I, Being Born a Woman... Edna St. Vincent Millay s Sonnet I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed Edna St. Vincent Millay s sonnet, I, Being Born a Woman and Distressed, serves as an excellent example of a multi faceted piece. From one angle, it is simply a Petrarchan sonnet, written with a slight variation on rhyme scheme but that variation, taken deeper, reveals new layers of meaning. Added to Millay s choice of meter and end stop, along with a background of Millay s person, this sonnet seems not so simple after all. Millay, though she married in 1923, was known to have extramarital affairs, purportedly with both women and men. (wikipedia.com) In the context of this particular sonnet, such seems revealing indeed for it seems the speaker of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Wordsworth s sonnet, he uses only the four rhymes to show that, even in constraining himself, he is still free. He may be confined to a cell or a rhyme scheme, but it is in such confinements that he finds liberty. Millay, too, is playing off of this idea simply by being a woman she is confined by society, but through her poetry she can recognized for the brilliant writer she is; hence, she quite literally frees her poetic reputation by constraining herself to such strict bounds. The irony in this reference to Wordsworth s work, however, is the contrasting subject matters he writes of metaphorical nuns, while she writes of rejection and lovers. The second interpretation of Millay s constrained rhyme scheme is a fair bit simpler. Her choice of words throughout the work is calm and cool distanced from the audience. There is none of the anger that usually accompanies a lovers breakup; Millay is reserved, restraining her emotions. This translates through to her rhyme scheme, which is also reserved. Here, she pulls back both from her lover, and from tradition. The sonnet s meter, on the other hand, is a bit more erratic, and betrays more feeling. Most of the piece is in a steady iambic pentameter, but it varies four times just after the turn (line 8) of the sonnet. Three of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. My Opinion About A.A.Milne s A Word for Autumn Essay. What can be more dreadful than autumn? Every year we say farewell to summer and always think of it as the end of the world, to tell the truth, me, too. Undoubtedly, there are people who are fascinated with autumn, they like it. Anyway, it s a beautiful time of the year, very picturesque and bright, especially during September. Leaves are red, orange, yellow, golden brown and amber. The air is cool, crisp and the sky looks darker and more boundless in the evenings. But...it s autumn and nothing can be done till the next June. It s like a damnation and a punishment for relaxed and carefree summer we ve just spent. A.A. Milne shares the other point of view in his essay A Word for Autumn . The narrator is kind of a relativist here. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think it s in the air, this feeling of happiness, of youth and joyful moments. Everything makes a mix of complete and sunny summer bliss and that s how it goes from year to year. That s why, may be, it so important to keep this feeling and thought inside, and bring it throughout autumn and winter. We still don t have such a skill. To be honest, me not. I try to cultivate this habit in me but every time it s in vain and A. A. Milne on the contrary succeeded in it and I m a little envious about him in this way. He is epicurean here, he takes the best of life while he can, he enjoys every moment of life. He sees it s beauty in the fresh celery and a wedge of cheese , in vegetables and fruits, in the pipe he just smoked, in taverns and London inns. And here comes the thought that it s a good life and it s going to be this way no matter what happens. The narrator wanted to make us think about it and he did. He ensured me and here I agree with him that: The end of the summer is not the end of the world. Here s to October and, waiter, some more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since long before, people have been using this method not only to show the consequences of committing an insane crime, but also as a kind of notice to anyone who had the intentions of committing such crimes. With no doubt, the death penalty has been a part of combating human crime in society for many centuries, and is considered a necessary way to eradicate dangerous criminals. In other people s views, the subject of needing the death penalty became considered as an inhumane and unjust way to control and prevent criminal activity, its purpose and forms of use have been questioned for many years and the debate on whether it is necessary or not has been circling around. The death penalty needs to be kept in place as a way to prevent insane crimes, by taking an in depth look at how it affects society. A just society requires the death penalty for the taking of a life. When a criminal takes a life the justice a society has established is disturbed and the only way to accommodate for that disturbance is to restore the peace by taking the criminal s life. Therefore, this allows society to show that murder or any other act of the same sort is intolerable. The death penalty ensures criminals that commit murder and rape won t escape or be released again. The film is an analysis of humanity and explores topics such as aversion therapy which is not just a dystopian fantasy but exists in the real world. Going back to Nietzsche s views on morality, it is worth noting that he condemns the Judeo Christian morality as too strict and unhealthy. However, using that philosophy A Clockwork Orange again shows the opposite as the society and law system s ethics are very much radical and they believe that the only way they could eradicate the crime and chaos in society is to take people s right of choice. In their criminology analysis of A Clockwork Orange Lichtenberg, Lune and McManimon (2004) sum up the main issue concerned in the film with the statemen confirmed by the prison chaplain that: If there is no choice, there is no morality. Therefore, Kubrick s film focuses on some important questions and problems that are shown as issues of a dystopian society but are also truly problems present in contemporary society as well such as: could the spectator blame the establishment for being cruel and immoral if they are trying their hardest to eradicate relentless crime or is taking someone s free will and right to choose an inhuman thing to do overall? • 30. Analysis Of The Fly By Katherine Mansfield The hunger for power continues to dominate. The short story The Fly by Katherine Mansfield demonstrates how power can be abused by symbolizing World War One. The various symbols in this story demonstrate the perspective Mansfield has on the war as well as showing the various point of views. It is important to acknowledge what abusing power can lead to and this story shows it effectively. The boss, although portrayed to be devastated over the loss of his brave son in World War One, is an allegory for the war generals. This is shown by the use of control and power, childlike actions and lack of reflection on his actions. From the beginning, the boss establishes that he is in control. He speaks about the new upgrades he has done to his office to Mr. Woodifield and, It gave him a feeling of deep, solid satisfaction to be planted there in the midst of it in full view of that frail old figure in the muffler. (Mansfield 1). Even though Mr. Woodifield is five years his junior he sees himself as above him. This mood is established very early in the story and shows how he enjoys being in control and being superior, like a war general. The boss lacks compassion and basic humanity after he is done playing with the fly. When the fly is finally finished fighting for life, the boss, ... flung it into the waste paper basket. (6). This shows how disposable the generals thought the soldiers were; after one is dead, they are discarded and life continues. This over playing is also childish. Mansfield may be implying that the generals were quite childish, by mentioning how Mr. Woodifield was peeking around to see the boss, ... as a baby peers out of its pram. (1). Even though it is not the boss doing the peeking, the fact that the childness was noted is an indication of Mansfield s perspective of the generals. Genghis Kh The Emperor And Founder Of The Mongol Empire Gunnar Burgin Captain Honnen History 300 16 November 2014 Genghis Khan Genghis Khan was the emperor and founder of the Mongol Empire, a man known throughout history for his ruthlessness, and success, as head of the largest land based empire during his tenure. A nomadic people, the Mongols spent many years prior to the great success of Genghis living in turmoil, lacking a leader to unify and lead the people to greater success than simply surviving. Prior to his death in August 1227 and subsequent burial back in Mongolia, Genghis Khan s Mongol Empire spanned from China to Eastern Europe, Vietnam into Siberia, encompassing the people and cultures of those conquered in these lands. In order to impose his will and assert dominance over Russia, Eastern Europe, China, and the heartland of Islam, Genghis Khan revolutionized warfare and weaponry, bringing a swift end to any enemy standing in his path. With a territory stretching across Asia into Europe, and with his undersized army fighting and defeating much larger forces, Genghis Khan s strongest attribute was his military prowess. Despite conquering numerous civilizations over a vast area of land and influencing the cultures, governing, social lives, and more, Genghis Khan s greatest influence on the world throughout his ventures was his influence on the military, through tactics, weaponry, and leadership. The study of how sports, as social phenomena, affect interactions between people and how these interactions lead to the further solidification of the social hierarchy, is known as sociology of sport. The study of the sociology of sport shows that as athletes continue their interactions with the common people of society, they develop a sense of Glorified Self as a result of the achieved status they are given by others. This could raise the question, how does the achieved social status of professional athletes impact the development of their Glorified Self? As athletes continue to achieve status in society, the Looking Glass Self Theory developed by Charles Horton Cooley offers an explanation as to why these athletes develop senses of Glorified Self. Additionally, as athletes continue to develop a larger sense of Glorified Self, their instinctive impulses further contrast their critical conscience. This conflict is the subject of Sigmund Freud s hypothesis on the relationship between the Id and Superego. Freud s theory leads to a further explanation as to why athletes begin to act they way they do once they achieve a status level higher than what they were ascribed. Noted sociologists ... • 34. The Literal Approach Of Contract Essay A When interpreting a contract, the literal approach is often taken to determine what was meant by the contract. The literal approach to contract interpretation means that when looking over a contract, words are assigned their ordinary meaning. Words are interpreted literally, as they ordinarily would be, regardless of the presumed context. However, giving words their ordinary meaning without adjusting for the context of the situation may cause problems. An example would be when a business places a clause in a contract proclaiming that any fees or costs associated with, say, the hourly cost of renting equipment, are subject to change without notice. This contract would cause problems should the fees suddenly be raised by an exorbitant amount because the literal approach would side with the business as they literally state that they could alter their fees at any time without any notice, and they reserve the right to change prices as they see fit. If, in the example given previously, the business hiked rental fees from $5,000 to $50,000 per year, the literal approach could be taken and be fully justifiable but could be problematic. Clearly, a reasonable person would see that a tenfold increase is completely unreasonable, but the literal approach would defend this. Therefore, it would be important to look at the other three forms of contractual interpretation to decide this matter. The contextual approach would result in a sharply different interpretation of a contract ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Controversy In Church The community I will be focusing on is my church community. The name of the church is called Intense Deep Bible Church and it was pastored by Willard Abena. About 5 years ago, there was a controversy in the church which sparked division in the church and also causing the pastor to be suspended. At this time, the issue was explained thoroughly to the church congregation and a lot of people were not happy with the results. Whilst the issue was being explained to the church congregation, the youths and children were asked to leave the church and at that point in time, I was considered a youth. So I was not able to figure out what was going on and why I haven t seen my pastor in church for a very long time, until I became and adult at the age of 18. When I became an adult, I came to the realization that the pastor was removed due to him making some personal spiritual mistakes which were never disclosed to the public congregation and was not tolerable by the church leaders. ... The church community also needs to be addressed on how the new pastor s family was treated and why it is wrong, especially in an environment where all the members are supposed to feel welcome and treated like family, according to the biblical scriptures. The family of the new pastor and the new pastor needs to be apologized to. If they are not apologized to, they may continue to distance themselves from the church. Another issue is that when an issue like that of the founding pastor came to pass, the congregation was not well informed because of the privacy of the pastor. Because of this lack of information, parts of the church community were upset. If the church leadership can work on giving the church community a more adequate information, it can reduce the confusion that results in the division of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a nutshell, it is because the economic benefits are grossly overstated and are outweighed by the wide ranging environmental, public health and weapons proliferation problems and risks. Uranium accounted for 0.19 per cent of Australia s export revenue in 2011/12 (the last available figures)1. By the most generous estimate, uranium accounts for 0.015% of all jobs in Australia.2 For Queensland, there is the additional limitation that the state has around just 2% of Australia s uranium resources. Clearly, the industry has no capacity to deliver significant economic or employment benefits. Instead of acknowledging the extremely limited economic potential of uranium mining in Queensland, the LNP state government, the Australian Uranium Association and the Queensland Resources Council have continued a pattern of extravagant and unsubstantiated claims regarding jobs, revenue and royalties. Enthusiasm is no substitute for evidence and limited sectoral self interest is not the same as the public interest. The assumptions and analysis of those promoting the uranium sector in Queensland needs to be challenged and reviewed. Left: Mary Kathleen, former Qld uranium mine poorly rehabilitated 1 In the absence of open, inclusive and evidence based policy making the Newman LNP government has set up the Uranium Implementation Committee. In the aftermath of the riot there were three major outcomes. One, the McCone Commission was set up by the government to study the riots. The McCone Commission found that people rioted because of unemployment, bad schools and education, and prior instances of police brutality (www.southcentralhistory.com). A second outcome following was an independent commission, chaired by former Illinois Gov. Otto Kerner, that investigated the causes of the rioting. The Kerner Commission issued its landmark report in 1968, concluding: Our nation is moving toward two societies, one black, one white separate and unequal (www.cnn.com). Another major outcome was the creation of SWAT teams. They were created with the vision of three police officers: Officer Nelson, who originally came up with the concept of a specially equipped and highly trained unit, Inspector Gates, who spear headed the push to make it happen and Ed Davis had the foresight to approve the program.
