perfect, or passive form. We use the progressive
form of a to- infinitive to emphasize something
is in progress at a particular time.
She seems to be doing very well.
PROGRESSIVE FORM= to be + present participle
(= I think that she is doing very well.)
We use the progressive form of a to- infinitive
to emphasize something is in progress at a
particular time.
To be living in Italy is a dream come true.
PROGRESSIVE FORM= to be + present participle
(= The fact that I am living in Italy is a dream come true.)
We can use the perfect form of a to- infinitive
for something that has happened in the past but
has a connection to now.
Jeff looks much better. The treatment seems
to have been effective.
PERFECT FORM= to have + past participle
(= I think the treatment has been effective.)
We can also use the perfect form of a
to- infinitive to show that one event in the
past took place before another.
They were delighted to have
finally met her.
PERFECT FORM= to have + past participle
(= They were delighted because
they had finally met her.)
We use the passive form of a to- infinitive when
the doer of the action is unknown or less
important than the action itself.

PASSIVE FORM= to be + past participle
(= What does somebody need to do?)
We use the passive form of a to- infinitive when
the doer of the action is unknown or less
important than the action itself.
He didn’t want to be called Professor.
PASSIVE FORM= to be + past participle
(= He didn’t want people to call him Professor.)
