Type of content: The empire magazine focuses on reviewing films which give the magazine a
lot of content to focus on as they can review older/recent releases, directors and write
article on how the films were made.
conventions: The magazine goes for a colour scheme of dark shades and bright red to make
the front cover recognisable. The font of the title is bold and red to standout. The articles
usually feature a large image from the film that it’s focusing on and the written content
tends to cover the basic events of the film while reviewing it. The articles normally address
the directors. There are many critics that work on the magazine so different articles have
different writing styles.
Audience appeal: The appeal of the magazine is for people wanting to learn about recent
releases of films and the interviews in the magazines with those involved with the
productions of some movies.

Types of content: the magazine will talk about food recipes that the reader can try,
restaurants that the reader can visit and healthy eating options. The magazine contains
large photos of food taken professionally to draw the readers attention.
Conventions: The Good food magazine presents itself with a brightly coloured background
and a dish of food on the front cover that’s presented well the intrigue its audience and
make people that see it hungry. The photography of the food is important for making it
look appetising. The font of text needs to be easy to read as its for recipes. The writing
style is clear as it has to be understood as a recipe. Usually the interior pages have a full
page photo of the food that their making and and the page next to it will contain the
recipe for the food. The good food magazine addresses the audience as that’s who will be
reading the recipes.
Audience appeal: The good food magazine appeals to a large audience as it will have the
interest of people looking for new recipes to cook and people looking for healthy diet
advice which is a fairly large amount of people in the UK. The magazine targets an
audience with a belonger lifestyle in psychographic terms.

Types of content: the time magazine in America focuses on recent news and politics in
America. The magazine is popular in America with an audience who want to learn
more about America's political climate. There are slightly more male readers than
female readers however the most important thing about the audience profile of the
time magazine is it’s median age reader is 50 years old so the target audience is for
middle aged readers.
Conventions: the front cover of the magazine uses simplistic imagery usually focusing
on a single person/celebrity who’s had a major influence in the news at the time that
the paper is released to give an example Donald Trump is used a lot as his actions as
president are controversial. The font used for the title is large and in capitals to show
that the magazine has something important to say which would gain attention from
those looking for a magazine that focuses on serious issues in America. The magazine
has a blue, red and white color scheme as this relates to the American flag which is
attention seeking and serious. photography is often used to show close up shots/ mid-
ranged shots of a politician or current celebrity
Audience appeal: the target audience of the magazine is to the whole of America's
adult population as the magazine discusses recent events and controversial topics. In
psychographic terms the magazine belongs to a socially conscious audience.
Research Analysis
• Similarities between products
– The background is a dark shade and the focus of the front cover is
usually brighter than the background to stand out.
– The magazines address the reader and the writing is clear to easily
convey information
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
I need to have a clear target audience that I can sell my product to
through my writing, images and ideas surrounding my theme.
I will include a bold font to draw in the readers attention like the Time
magazine does.
I will use one large image for a double page spread like the Empire
magazine does with it’s film images.

The articles normally address the directors. There are many critics that work on the magazine so different articles have different writing styles. Audience appeal: The appeal of the magazine is for people wanting to learn about recent releases of films and the interviews in the magazines with those involved with the productions of some movies.

The magazine contains large photos of food taken professionally to draw the readers attention. Conventions: The Good food magazine presents itself with a brightly coloured background and a dish of food on the front cover that’s presented well the intrigue its audience and make people that see it hungry. The photography of the food is important for making it look appetising. The font of text needs to be easy to read as its for recipes. The writing style is clear as it has to be understood as a recipe. Usually the interior pages have a full page photo of the food that their making and and the page next to it will contain the recipe for the food. The good food magazine addresses the audience as that’s who will be reading the recipes. Audience appeal: The good food magazine appeals to a large audience as it will have the interest of people looking for new recipes to cook and people looking for healthy diet advice which is a fairly large amount of people in the UK. The magazine targets an audience with a belonger lifestyle in psychographic terms.

The magazine is popular in America with an audience who want to learn more about America's political climate. There are slightly more male readers than female readers however the most important thing about the audience profile of the time magazine is it’s median age reader is 50 years old so the target audience is for middle aged readers. Conventions: the front cover of the magazine uses simplistic imagery usually focusing on a single person/celebrity who’s had a major influence in the news at the time that the paper is released to give an example Donald Trump is used a lot as his actions as president are controversial. The font used for the title is large and in capitals to show that the magazine has something important to say which would gain attention from those looking for a magazine that focuses on serious issues in America. The magazine has a blue, red and white color scheme as this relates to the American flag which is attention seeking and serious. photography is often used to show close up shots/ mid- ranged shots of a politician or current celebrity Audience appeal: the target audience of the magazine is to the whole of America's adult population as the magazine discusses recent events and controversial topics. In psychographic terms the magazine belongs to a socially conscious audience.

I need to have a clear target audience that I can sell my product to through my writing, images and ideas surrounding my theme. I will include a bold font to draw in the readers attention like the Time magazine does. I will use one large image for a double page spread like the Empire magazine does with it’s film images.
