3 Magazine Flat Plans Draw out a design for your front cover and contents page. Do this on A4
paper and scan it in.
4 Prelim Product a) Create your own college magazine front cover and contents page in
Photoshop.
b) Export as a JPEG and add to your blog.
5 Prelim Evaluation Consider the strengths and weaknesses of your work. Also discuss things
that you have learnt that will benefit your future work.
6 Genre Research Create a PowerPoint that discusses the generic conventions of particular
music magazines. You should discuss 3 examples. Upload this to
slideshare and embed into your blog.
7 Textual Analysis a) Create a Prezi titled Textual Analysis.
b) In this prezi you should analyse a minimum of 2 front covers, contents
pages and double page spreads.

a) Create a video of yourself discussing your findings, consider how this
will benefit your future work.
b) Create a collage of cut outs/Google images of inspirational fonts,
costume, images etc. Reflect and discuss how these are born out of your
textual analysis and how you intend to incorporate them into your own
product. How do they signify your chosen genre?

a) Find reader profiles for 3 magazines
b) Discuss the profile considering the audience it paints and why they
target that group.
c) Add a sub heading to your blog post ‘How will this research affect my
ideas?’ and add your thoughts.
d) create your own reader profile and discuss how you arrived at this.
10 Primary Audience
Research
a) Create your own questionnaire using both qualitative and quantative
questions.
b) Answer other people questionnaires while yours is answered by them.
c) Analyse your responses and create graphs to help you discuss the
responses in the blog post. Focus on how this data will help you when
you produce your magazine. What will you take on board and action in
your own work.
11 Masthead Font Research Create a collage of Mastheads from current magazines and consider the
following;
What effect does the font have on the audience?
What colours have been used?
Connotations?
Is it capitalised?
2. 12 Ideas for my work based
on research
Create a blog post that outlines ideas that you have for your film opening
or magazine based upon research that you’ve undertaken. Clearly outline
where your inspiration has come from.
13 Institutional Research Create a post – Research into Institutions that distribute similar products.
Follow the seven steps on the blog to complete this post.

is out there.
15 Lighting Research and make detailed notes on 3 point lighting. Define -High Key,
Low key and Fill lighting. What are the effects of these and what results
do they create. Find a diagram of them in position. This should all be
added to your blog as a post titled 3 Point Lighting Research.

20 Reece What is your location like? Will it pose and problems? Fill in the Reece
