The document outlines initial plans for three potential final major projects: themed photography, CD design, and point of sale. For themed photography, the student proposes action, stereographic, and high-speed photography on t-shirts and posters targeted at ages 15+. For CD design, the student suggests album covers, merchandise like t-shirts, and posters for genres like dance, house, and hip hop. For point of sale, sports/energy drinks, chocolate bars, or cinema advertisements are proposed along with related posters and advertisements. The student analyzes not choosing photography due to a prior project or point of sale requiring new equipment. CD design is selected for appealing to ages 15+ using skills in Adobe Photoshop and

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Mind Map
Potential Ideas
Themed photography
portfolio
• If I was to complete my final major
project with the main topic of
themed photography I would
explore many different types of
photography such as action
sequenced, stereographic and high
speed photography.
• I would also imprint my
photographs on to the front of
some t-shirt, this will mean I will be
editing my images so that they will
look very appealing on my t-shirts. I
will do this so that they will appeal
to my audience.
• I will also create a poster will I will
explain to the public and my
audience on how to take those
specific types of photography
chosen.
• All off the following things listed
above will have to be appealing to
my audience which will be boys and
girls aged 15+.
CD design
• If I was to complete my final major
project on CD design there is many
possible types of music which I can
create my CD design on. Some possible
genres could be Dance, House, Hip Hop,
Pop and Electronic. For each of these
different genres there are many possible
different CD designs.
• I would also create more than just the
CD cover, I would make merchandise for
the new album cover such as t shirts, CD
information booklet and poster.
• On the T shirt I could imprint a similar
design to the CD cover, this would make
the t shirt unique and I would have to
make sure that all of my products are
very appealing to my audience.
• All off the following things listed above
will have to be appealing to my audience
which will be boys and girls aged 15+.
Point of sale
• If I was to complete my final
major project on point of sale
there are many different genre
ideas which I could complete my
project on, these genres consist
of Sports/Energy drinks,
Chocolate bars or cinema
advertisement. All three o these
genres will give me many ideas
for my project.
• Along side of just the card
cinema sale board design I
would also create a poster
advertising the movie in more
detail and I would also create a
advert.
• All off the following things listed
above will have to be appealing
to my audience which will be
boys and girls aged 15+.
6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood what connotation
• In my mood board I have included example of album covers, album merchandise such as t-shirts and a few album
posters. In the examples of album covers which I have collected there are some similarities and some differences. One
similarity is that 2-3 of them are really simple which include a background colour and or either a simple object in the centre
or text which is in a simple to read font. This makes them effective because they will be easy to distinguish them from other
album covers in shops. I have also collected two very unique album covers which have a lot of detail in them, which have
many different colours in them. In most of the album covers which I have collected show a relaxed mood, or the other
covers mood represents the type of music which is on the album. I have also noticed a coloiur theme within my mood
board, I have realized that there is birght yellows and terquoizes, the theme I have found is that I have use images which
have many bright colours.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• My mood board will influence my final product in many ways. One way which my mood board will help me
complete my product is that I will be able to select small details from each album cover such as using a simple font
which will allow my audience to easily read the name of the album. I will also use colours which will stand out to
any other album cover, this is so that my album cover will be unique to it self. The t-shirt designs I have collect will
help me when designing my t-shirt, this is because I can see that in both of the designs they are a easy to think of
and simple design, however they look very unique which will be good for my product because when people see
the t-shirt/hoodie they want to know which album cover is being presented on the item of clothing.
Theory Elements
• Denotation - The denotation of my mood board is that the images are all music related and are either an item of
clothing, music poster or album cover. For example I have an image of one album which has been produced and a
hoodie which is merchandise for that album.
• Connotation- The connotation of my mood board is that the images I have used include a variation of colours,
from vibrant oranges to dark greys. The bright colours show happiness and makes the audience feel welcome.
However the darker colours make the audience feel sad and the really dark and gloomy images make the audience
feel slight depression
• Iconography – The iconography on my mood board is that most of the images are symbolic of the genres such as
some genres using faces which are slightly distorted or edited to represent the artist. Shapes are also used to form
the iconography of the music genre and these are used creatively to make the images aesthetically pleasing.
7. Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept The concept idea for my final major product is for me to design a new album and
merchandise for the album. I will have to make sure that album is suitable for my
audience and that it is unique to other album covers.
Type of
products you
would make
• CD cover (front, side, back)
• The design which goes on the CD
• T-shirt and hoodie
• Poster
• Information booklet for inside the CD box ( if I have time)
What you will
need to make
them
To make all of these products I will need to use many different things such as; Adobe
Photoshop, Microsoft power point, Microsoft word, computer, mouse and keyboard.
Audience My products will have to be applicable to my audience which will be both men a
women (boys and girls) aged from 15+ and social status A, B, C1, and C2, this is
because in these classes are likely to have access to a device which will be able to
play music on, therefor they will be able to buy my album cover.
8. Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
Themed Photography • The reason for me not choosing to
complete my project on photography is
because I have already completed one
project which was on photography, so I
wanted to do something new. It would
have been complex and time consuming
which would have effected my over all
agreed deadline dates. I would have had
specialist equipment which I do not think
that I would have time to learn how use
them.
Point of sale • The reason for me not completing my
final project on point of sale is that I
would have physically wanted to make a
point of sale board and to do that I
would need special equipment which I
do not think I would have had time to
learn how to use.
Editor's Notes
Bubbl.us or hand drawn-scanned using college printers exploring 3 potential ideas. Talk about psychographic and social status within each of these, this will give you a specific audience. Talk about colours within each section and overall design, is there a certain image you want to put in place? Are there any elements of existing products that you think would work well in your own piece?
