Mario Kart 8
Game world
• The terrain is the kart course which consists of roads, grass,
bridges and skies which you occasionally fly though. The
architecture in this game has a wide variety with objects such
as walls, trees, gates and characters that stand on the side
watching the race. The objects in Mario kart also has a wide
variety. When you collect an item box which are placed
around the track, you get a random object which you either
use to make yourself faster or you place in the game world to
obstruct the other players
characters
• In this game you can choose your character and then
in the race, the characters you didn't chose become
non playable characters and your opponents. All
the characters appearing in the game are from the
Mario universe with a couple of characters from
other Nintendo games making special appearances.
Feedback interface
• How this game interfaces with the player in
the real world is that the controllers
rumble pod vibrates whenever the players hits
another player, architecture or items from the
item box which other players have shot.
perspectives
• Mario Kart eight Is a three dimensional game
with a third person perspective as we play
with our avatar in front of us instead of
viewing from the characters perspective and
we also don’t see it from an Ariel view.
Cut scenes
• The non interactive videos in this game
consists of a brief introductory video of the
track before you race. The cut scene consists
of a wide pan of the race track and all the
players in position before they are about to
race.
Avatar
• As said before, you can chose your own avatar
but you can also choose what Kart or bike you
play with you have choosing over the wheels,
body and parachute if you get a good
combination of those three, you can be in the
fastest kart and have a good chance
of winning.
Game type
• Mario Kart is a multiplayer game which is a
more fun way to play as you're playing against
your friends and not just a CPU .
narrative
• The narrative in this is that you have to
complete all the races and come first place to
win. The higher the ranking when finishing a
race, the more points you get. The person
with the highest amount of points wins.
Game setting
• The game setting is a timeless world filled
with many tracks which includes a candy land
and space. This gives a variety of tracks and
gives the player a choice in what they are
playing instead of just having 1 track
Player goals
• This game doesn't really have
objectives within the game. The only goal is to
get a high ranking.
Achievements and winning
• When winning a game you get a screen in
which the final rank of the players is
shown and you earn a trophy.
Difficulty setting
• There are some difficulty settings. These
difficulty settings include things such as higher
speeds.
inventory
• This game does not particularly have an
inventory but has a box in which it includes an
item you have collected from the item boxes
scattered around the track.
Addiction
• With new games and consoles coming out annually, its not that
hard to get addicted to video games. In 2013, the addiction to video
games was recognized as a mental disorder with addiction centers
providing an addiction detox to video games. The majority of these
game addicts that come in to these treatment centers are
teenagers and young adults. The problem doesn’t help itself as now
mobile phones are creating new gaming apps and mass
gaming companies are making hand held consoles so people can
take their games on the go. some addicts take their gaming to the
extreme with negative and angry moods if they don’t sooth their
gaming needs. This problem needs a solution as the more time
people play video games, the less time they have to learn skills such
as socializing and staying fit which can ruin chances of relationships
and jobs which is not good for a modern day society.

health/addiction/features/video-game-addiction-no-fun#1
Artistic styles
• Mario kart has a exaggeration style to its
characters and settings. The objects in this
game are not made to be realistic and the
creators exaggerate some of the characters
styles in order for them to look more
appealing to the player
graphics
• This game has 3D isometric sprites as when
you see the characters in the game can see all
angles of them.
In game interface
1: item inventory
2: coin count (how many coins you have
collected
3: lap count (what lap you are on)
4: what position you have in the race
Box art
• This box art has a lot going on and barley has any
white space. The title is clearly shown as it is
written in a readable and big font. the main focus
on
the box art is the main character in the center. thi
s game as also included important information suc
h as the age rating and what console the game ca
n be played on.
