The document discusses the results of a survey about alcohol consumption and underage drinking. It found that responses were evenly split between males and females. Most respondents were not between the ages of 18-25, suggesting the target audience should be under 18. Respondents typically drink less than 3 pints per week. Most had witnessed negative effects of alcohol before. Respondents preferred a short film length of 4-6 minutes.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

3. HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=SNFRQ6IXANM
The film starts out with the protagonist overhearing
his parents arguing because is an alcoholic. The
main character then sneaks out to go to a party.
He stares at an alcoholic drink in front of him.
He starts to drink it and gets out of control.
It carries on to a different time in the future
and the character has had enough of his drinking
problems so he decided to drown himself
Symbolizing that he's drowned himself in alcohol to the point of death. The video then jumps back to the
character staring at the drink meaning that the events of the short films were just a thought of what could
happen after what he has endured with his dad being alcoholic as most teens get out of control If their
parents were alcoholics when they were young. The film ends seeming that the character never took the
drink. The message for this short film is to think before you drink of what could happen if you take it too
far.
4. Chasing the high is a short film about a characters
Perspective when they have revolved their lives
Around drugs. The main asset of the piece is the
Narration as the message is to understand what an
Addict feels and why they rely on it. The video
Suggests that they rely on drugs so much to the
Point of shame. They realise that they have changed
And it is too late to go back. There is not a lot of
Techniques or mise en scene assets in this video
Which is where I think it could have improved.
The majority of the shots are in slow motion. Some illegal drugs slow down the body which this effect could
symbolise.
5. This short film is about what a child sees when they have a
Parent with alcohol dependence. The style is moving
Images like a story book to relate back to the topic and
The main character/narrator who is a child. It shows that
From a childs point of view, the parent, when drunk, is
Just extremely tired, happy, confused or any kind of
Emotion they are feeling and doesn't understand the
Cause of these emotions. They also don't understand the
Conflict they might see or overhear such as the parents
arguing. The video shows consequences of drinking such as driving
drunk causing damage and injury, family issues such a parents splitting, child custody, social events being ruined by alcoholism,
self injry to drunks as well as emotional damage to the addict and the people around him/her. The color scheme for the video is
mostly dar colors such as blues and blacks to show that it's a dark time for the protagonist and her family because of her mums
alcohol dependency. There is also a range of oranges and yellows from the light sources in the locations. Orange symbolises
flamboyancy and energy which some people have when they are drunk to contrast with the dark colors that symbolise the dark
events that occur with excessive drinking. There are not a lot of props used in the video since the shots are moving images. There
is one scene however, when the mother is poruing a glass of juice (which is what potentially the child thinks she sees), there is a
bottle of vodka hidden behind the woman, which is probably what the drink she was actually pouring. This links back to the topic
of what a child see's vs what the adult is actually doing. The lighting is always pretty dark throughout the film apart from one
scene with the car. The lighting (just like the use of color) is to symbolise the dark side of alcohol. Overall the message of the film is
to not drink excessivly but is also to think about how alcohol dependency affects your family and friends, especially your children.
9. The first question which I asked in my survey was what gender
They specify as. the reason I asked this question I because
It is a core demographic when finding a target market.
Finding out the gender for your project can help when making
The project more appealing to that specific gender. When
Creating a video that needs to attract women you would use
Specific colors like purples and pinks and use products like makeup and clothes. For men you would use colors
such as blues and greens and use products like video games and shaving tools. I want to aim at the gender that is
mostly affected by alcohol. 22 people answered my questionnaire and 11 of them are female and 11 of them are
male. This could mean I should work to make my product towards both genders. I have been doing some research
and according to BBC Future, women are more affected by alcohol then men are. I might aim my product
towards women. I will do this by using colored effects to attract women with colors such as purple and pinks. I will
also use a female protagonist.
10. The second question I asked in the questionnaire was if
The responder was between the ages of 18 and 25. I
Asked this because 18 to 25 is the ages where you can
Drink legally around the world so I wanted to target new
Drinkers so they never get into a bad state when they
Start drinking. Looking at the results, 65% of the answers say
they are not between these ages. This could mean that they are
under the age or over. This make me question which ages I should target my film for. It would be better to aim my product
towards people who are also under 18 so I can warn them about the dangers of alcohol before they turn the legal age to drink
so when they do start to go out and start drinking, they know how to be responsible and learn the consequences of getting out
of control with alcohol.
I enquired to the responders about how much alcohol they drink
In a week. I asked this to see how many drink more than 3 pints
Weekly so I could understand how much people of this age go
Out and drink. the results show that people who are between 18
And 25 don't usually drink more than 3 pints of alcohol weekly.
Excessive drinking in teenagers must occur at irregular events
Such as parties and celebrations.
11. I asked the responders if they have experienced
Or witnessed someone being badly affected
By alcohol. I asked this question because I want to see if I
can help anyone who is or knows anybody that is going
through the same situation as the characters in my short film.
The majority of the repsonses have said yes to this question.
This doesn't mean I have to change anything about my
Project as my target audience will unerstand what is happenig in the video and what the message is.
I asked the responders how long a they would like to see a short
film be because I don't want to make a film that will be too short
so there is not enough assets or storylines or too long so the
audinece gets bored. The most of the responders would like a
short film between four and six minutes. I am happy with this
answer as I was intending to make my film around five minutes
long.
12. 1. IT IS SOME SERIOUS BUSINESS. UNDERAGE DRINKING CAN AFFECT NORMAL
DEVELOPMENTAL TRAJECTORIES AND NEGATIVELY AFFECT DEVELOPMENT. RESULTS CAN INCLUDE FAILURE AT SCHOOL, GETTING INTO TROUBLE WITH THE LAW
AND AN INCREASED LIKELIHOOD OF DEVELOPING AN ADDICTION TO ALCOHOL. CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL DURING THE YEARS OF TEEN BRAIN DEVELOPMENT
CAN SIGNIFICANTLY ALTER THIS DEVELOPMENT. POTENTIALLY AFFECTING BOTH BRAIN STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION, ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION DURING THE
TEENAGE YEARS MAY ALSO CAUSE COGNITIVE OR LEARNING PROBLEMS.
2. YES PEOPLE ON ADVERTS DONT MENTION IT
THAT MUCH AND JUST SAY BE RESPONSIBLE WHICH TEENS NEGLECT UPON. PARENTS ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE AND SHOULDTN SAY BUT SHOULD SHOW IT
BECAUSE EVERY KID LEARNS FROM THERE PARENTS SO THEY SHOULD TEACH THEM HOW TO DRINK PROPERLY AT A YOUNGER AGE.
3. I THINK IT IS GOOD AND
SHOULD REMAIN THE SAME BECAUSE EVERYONE AN ADULT AT THIS AGE AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS.
4. YES WE SHOULD BECAUSE IT IS AFFECTED PEOPLE AND OUR SOCIETY IN A BAD WAY.
UNDERAGE DRINKING CAN ALSO BE A CRIMINAL OFFENSE WHICH IS BAD BEHAVOUR. TO PREVENT UNDERAGE DRINKERS WE SHOULD SHOW THEM WHAT THEY
COULD BECOME IN THE FUTURE TO CHANGE.
13. 1. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE SUBJECT OF ALCOHOL AND UNDERAGE DRINKING? I DO NOT SEE ANY PROBLEMS WITH PEOPLE DRINKING
BEFORE THEY ARE 18, BUT PEOPLE SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL WITH THE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL THEY DRINK AND HOW QUICKLY THEY DRINK
IT.
2. DO YOU THINK THE SUBJECT SHOULD BE TALKED ABOUT MORE, ESPECIALLY TO TEENAGERS AND NEW DRINKERS? YES, IT SHOULD BE TALKED
ABOUT MORE, BECAUSE ALCOHOL CAN BE DANGEROUS TO NEW /INEXPERIENCED DRINKERS. PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF
UNDERAGE DRINKERS SO THEY SHOULD EXPLAIN TO THEM HOW NOT TO BE BADLY AFFECTED BY ALCOHOL.
3. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE LEGAL AGE OF 18 TO DRINK? DO YOU THINK IT SHOULD BE LOWERED, RAISED OR RMAIN AS 18? I THINK
THAT THE AGE OF 18 TO DRINK IS FINE AND SHOULD NOT BE CHANGED. THIS IS BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY UNDERAGE DRINKERS WHO
BREAK THE LAW ANYWAY (ALMOST EVERYONE I KNOW HAS HAD A DRINK BEFORE THEY ARE 18), AND LOWERING THE LEGAL AGE WOULD
NOT MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE TO THE WORLD ANYWAY.
4. SHOULD WE BE TRYING MORE TO STOP UNDERAGE DRINKERS AND WHY? NO, I THINK UNDERAGE DRINKING IS FINE, AS LONG AS THE
AMOUNT THAT THEY DRINK IS LIMITED AND THEY DO NOT DRINK TOO QUICKLY. PARENTS SHOULD NOT BUY THEIR CHILDREN TOO MUCH
ALCOHOL.
