This PowerPoint goes over research for unit 4. Research mainly goes over analyzing existing products which helps to get a sense of what to expect for the product.

2. Existing Product
Infinity blade is a turn-based RPG made for phones. There
are currently 3 games in the franchise. The image on the
right has the main character peering over the edge of a cliff,
his sights are set on what appears to be a castle at the edge
of one of the cliffs. The main character is wearing armour
and is carrying a sword and shield on his back. The lighting
is quite grey because the sun isn’t shining in but is been
covered with clouds which adds a sense of realism to the
game. The game is set in a 3rd person perspective which is
good because you can see the character you have upgraded
and other areas you can enter. The game is set in an
alternate universe where swords and shields and stuff still
exist however technology like robots and stuff also exist.
This image makes the audience want to buy the game
because the castle in the distance gives the audience the
idea that it’s a dungeon crawler which is quite a popular
game genre due to is difficulty and it’s a classic.

3. Existing Product
This game is Pokemon which is a turn-based
adventure game where you catch little monsters
against their will and force them to fight in one on
one matches until one of them is unable to carry
on. This image has all the current games (apart
from the two new ones which just came out) on
full display for everyone to see. The title can also
be seen at the top so that everyone knows which
game series they are looking at along with the
well known sub-title. This image is a great form of
nostalgia for all of the veteran players who have
played every single game since the first or even
players who started at the first DS games and
moved on from there still get some of the
nostalgia from this image. This game does not
contain any costumes or props. The colors involve
a lot of reds and blues with a few greens and the
occasional white and black.

4. Existing Product
This is the cover photo for the game
civilization 6 which is a turn-based strategy
game made exclusively for the PC. The game
consists of starting at a prehistoric time
period and then moving forward through
the ages as you upgrade your cities, armies
and economics however, you have to do this
alongside other players, AI’s or real players
which adds a more competitive and stressful
experience to the game. The winner is
decided when all other players cease to exist
(all cities and units destroyed) or when one
player achieves max rank in one of the stats.
The image has a multitude of colors at the
base of the statue which represents the
huge amount of freedom in this game and
that you can go just about anywhere. This
image does not contain any costumes or
props, unless you classify the statue as a
prop which looks a lot like atlas, a Greek god
who holds up the earth. This image does
entice you to buy the game because it is
quite beautiful and this is the latest
installment in a very popular game series.

5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
– The most common features the researched products have are that the
games are all turn-based games which is what my game is going to be
based on. Another feature is that all the games are relatively popular
in their own right which means that these kind of games are quite
popular.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on
work?
– The aspects of my research I will use within my own work will be the
fact that my game will be a turn-based RPG. My game will include
some elements from Pokemon such as the combat system and the
exploration system. I wont really include civilization 6 because that
system is too complicated to include in my game. Some of infinity
blades combat system will be included in my game but that may also
be too complicated to add so I’m not entirely sure about that.

is completely fine in my opinion.

Belonger, Achiever This game is a RPG and because of its big
community; belongers will enjoy this game as
belongers like to be part of a community and
RPG’s usually have big communities. Achievers
will also enjoy this game because the game
focuses on earning things and getting better as
it is in the RPG genre. This requires you to have
