This study seeks to verify the design of a grid-connected photovoltaic power conversion system with a single-phase multilevel inverter. The inverter topology uses fewer switches than other designs to create many voltage levels in the modified sine wave output. PSIM is used to simulate the inverter first with DC voltage sources and then with simulated PV arrays. While power was effectively transferred to the grid in simulation, closed-loop control of the inverter was not achieved, leaving some claims of the authors unverified.
