Analysis Of The Second Sex By De Beauvoir
The Second Sex is a piece of literature that criticizes society, especially men for oppressing women.
De Beauvoir believes that men limit women to their privileges by characterizing them as objects.
Furthermore, Beauvoir sees that in society while men are considered dominant, and important,
women, on the other hand, are considered, irrelevant, and insignificant. The main reason why woman
are viewed this way is due to the roles they have in society. Their whole life they must appease to their
husband s commands and perform household responsibilities. The Second Sex highlights the vast
imbalanced roles calling out what is wrong in society. De Beauvoir questions why an entire half of the
human population is being discriminated against. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have already pointed out that what Freud calls the Electra complex is not, as he supposes, a sexual
desire (De Beauvoir, 287). De Beauvoir believes the daughter to husband relationship is not a sexual
desire instead that if the father shows the daughter love she will feel like she belongs in society, she
will become more confident as it will give her a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.
Another text that criticizes society because of the oppression of women is Sula by Toni Morrison.
However, Morrison takes a different approach as she does not explicitly say her purpose of her writing
nor point out any flaws in society. Instead, she results to mimicry to prove her point. Morrison in her
writing uses two characters: Nel and Sula. Morrison states, Because each had discovered years before
that they were neither white nor male, and that all freedom and triumph was forbidden to them, they
had to set about creating something else (Morrison, 51). Sula and Nel at an early age of 12 realized
that because they are neither white nor male, for most of their lives they will experience
discrimination and be denied freedom in their community. Here Morrison is trying to show just how
easy it was to identify even to young kids how African American women were oppressed in
communities. Sula was determined to not conform to her community s expectations. However, Nel
decides to still follow the path of the

It Is Not Unheard Of To See Workers Protesting Against
It is not unheard of to see workers protesting against the executives of their company; whether it is for
better working conditions, a higher salary, or new policies that they don t agree with. In fact,
throughout American history, specifically with beginning with the Industrial Revolution, employees
have protested for their rights to be acknowledged and for their voices to be heard. However, the
Market Basket protest that took place during the summer of 2014 is an exception to this norm. Not
unlike traditional protests, Market Basket employees left the New England grocery stores vacant with
only a few essential employees remained to keep the stores opened for their beloved customers. What
sets the Market Basket protest apart from previous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another lawsuit filed in 2009 against Arthur T. caused Rafaela Evans to switch her allegiance from
Arthur T. to Arthur S after the lawsuit was settled in June 2013. The allegiance shift caused a personal
rift between Evans and Arthur T. and Evan s vote switched the balance between the two cousins.
When the time came for the board of directors to elect executives in 2014, Arthur T. was voted out.
Although Rafaela Evans did not have the power on her own to fire Arthur T., this example of
interpersonal conflict exemplifies how relationships between individuals can affect the grand scheme
of organizations. The workers believed that the firing of Arthur T. Demoulas would lead to the
destruction of Market Basket. The belief that Arthur T. Demoulas s firing would be the end of Market
Basket was due to his replacements, James Gooch and Felicia Thornton. Gooch and Felicia Thornton
were hired simply to because they were experts at taking apart companies . (QUOTE???) If Market
Basket went down, employees would not only lose their jobs but they would be losing a great job that
had benefits like scholarships and stock shares. Many of Market Basket s employees that had been
working there a long time had made it their careers and didn t have experience elsewhere. Without
outside experience, and a general reluctance or refusal to work for other grocery chains, those
employees were filled with fear and anxiety because Market

Ab Isotype Switching Case Study
Before encountering an antigen, a naïve B cell expresses both IgM and IgD on its surface. A single
transcript of VDJ CμCδ is alternatively spliced to yield either the μ or the δ heavy chains.
There is no DNA switch region before the Cδ gene. Switch regions are found in DNA upstream of
each constant region gene (except in the δ chain). Ab isotype switching occurs by recombination
between switch regions (S), with deletion of the intervening DNA, and must occur before functional
transcripts of these genes are made. Isotype switching requires the enzyme AID, which is expressed in
B lymphocytes in response to signals from T cells

Essay on Summary of Education Book by Ellen G White
Summary Education is needed in the life of the people of God. True education means more than a
preparation for life that is now. It has to with the whole being and with the whole period of existence
possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, mental, and spiritual powers. The
world has many great teacher but God stands higher than them which is the real soiuce of knowledge.
The holy scriptures are perfect standard of truth and should be given the highest place in education.
He who desire to reach God s ideal will presents education as high as the heaven and as broad as the
universe, an education that can t be completed in this life but will continue for the life to come. In

Jesus Christ is the center of our education. It is his ambition to inspire human with principles of truth,
obedience, honor, integrity and purity principles that will make them a positive force for the stability
and uplifting of society. These principles become a living power to shape the character, through the
acquaintance of the soul with Christ, through an acceptance of His wisdom as the guide, His power as
the strength, of heart and life. This union formed, the Student has found the source of wisdom. Jesus
Crist is the teacher that was sent from the Lord which is the best and the greatest. Through Christ had
been communicated every ray of divine light that had ever reached our fallen world. It was He who
had spoken through everyone that throughout the ages had declared God s word to man. Christ came
to restore knowledge. He came to set aside the false teaching by which those who claimed to know
God had misrepresented Him. The most complete illustration of Christ s methods as a teacher is found
in His training of the twelve first disciples. Upon these men were to rest weighty responsibilities. In
the training of His disciples the Saviour followed the system of education established at the beginning.
All of the disciples were trained personally by the greatest teacher and developed their personality
from weakness to strengths which made them people of faith that preaches and lead in the spread of

Medieval Tailors Essay
Kenley Collins, Ariana Grande s fashion designer, would not be able survive as a medieval tailor.
Tailors were hired to make all kinds of clothing from underwear to silk gowns. People in the middle
ages often wore tunics, togas, trousers, and sandals. Women often wore long sleeved linen dresses
called chemises and men often wore gowns. Even though tailors had a difficult peasant life they made
clothes for the nobility and influenced fashion.
Medieval tailors, made clothes for a small segment of the population. A tailor made clothes for the
nobles and had to have knowledge of various fine and expensive materials. Some clothes tailors used
were leather, bernet, perse, and sandal. Tailors were in the craftsmen group on the feudal pyramid. All

(http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/medieval/clothing/) Popele sometimes wore loose linen or wool
tunics like big baggy t shirts. Clothing became more complicated in the middle ages. In the 1300s, to
make sure wealthy merchants were not confused with nobles, and craftsmen were not confused with
wealthy merchants, laws were passed in towns and villages about what kind of clothes each group
could wear. Wearing pants was originally a Germanic idea, and the Romans disapproved of it. But it
gradually caught on anyway, especially among men who rode horses and in colder areas. Other men,
especially noblemen, wore tights under their tunics. Outside, if it was cold, men wore wool cloaks.

Gender Roles And Gender Role Stereotypes
Gender role stereotypes have a negative impact on society by media, movies, commercials, for
instance, Kylie Jenner is a perfect example in which she felt insecure about her body and facial
features to where she was under the constant scrutiny of the media comparing her features to the likes
of her sisters which are, full lips, large back side and hips and petite nose as well as arched eyebrows.
For example, youth girls are seen and reprimanded to play with Barbie dolls, babying equipment and
supplies, nursing tools and adorable plush dogs and teddy bears, on the other hand boys are seen
playing big and bad wrestlers and G.I. Joe action figures with toy guns and knives, soccer balls, basket
balls, and baseballs things that would be outlandish and unusual for girls to be seen playing with. This
also sets a bad example for teenagers and adults and makes them want to do the same because these
are the people they look up to and want to follow in their footsteps. Meanwhile, movies give off a
negative effect for example, in the Walt Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White
is cast out by a jealous step mother who only cares about superficial beauty. Snow White ends up
cooking and cleaning for the seven men dwarfs , while their off at work and despite the fact that she s
been warned of evil, she s easily tricked by the witch in disguise, of course in the end, she gets saved
by a man.
Everything from certain ethnic groups and cultures have a gender role

Tex Mex Food History
ZOOM
Tex Mex food is fusion on American and Mexican food. This type of food is very popular, especially
in the United States. Authentic Mexican food started in Mexico. The word Tex Mex was used to
describe Mexican descendants living in Texas, also known as Tejanos. As more and more people
settled in Texas, the popularity of Mexican food grew and grew. People started attempting to make it
themselves in their own kitchens, using Texan ingredients like beef and wheat flour. Beef and wheat
flour are two things not common in Mexico. Mexican restaurants in Texas started to use more gringo
elements into their dishes, like ground beef in enchiladas. This resulted in a new invention, a delicious
invention, of Tex Mex food. Traditional Mexican food use plenty ... Show more content on

featuring colorful Mexican themed murals, traditional Mexican food and a full bar. There are many

Mexican inspired fare such as tacos, quesadillas, and nachos. Another Tex Mex restaurant is Chili s
Grill and Bar. Chili s is family friendly chain serving classic Tex Mex and American fare in a
southwestern style setting. Tex Mex and authentic Mexican food may be very different but they are
still the same type of foods. Food brings people together. Here food definitely did bring people
together. Without the Mexicans and the Texans, we might not have the food that we love so much
today. This style of food and this fusion between two different cuisines have become something that
we consume almost daily. Queso dip, chimichangas, the enchilada have been Americanized. But we

Comparing On Keeping A Notebook By Joan Didion And Tim O ...
Joan Didion and Tim O Brien have many differences and similarities in their writing. In On Keeping a
Notebook, Didion emphasizes how she keeps a notebook, not a diary, and the differences between a
notebook and a diary. She makes numerous other points along the way throughout the writing. O
Brien writes about the Vietnam War and emphasizes items that the men carry, switching from point of
views sporadically. Both authors write with a reminiscent tone, as if they are looking back on old
memories and jotting them down in a notebook. Even though Didion stays in one point of view
throughout the whole piece, and O Brien switches between characters and points of view rather often,
one can still see the similarities in the way they write. Didion cannot remember exactly what might

Who started it, and when, and why? (O Brien 38). Neither is fully positive in the way they write. A
point made in both pieces has to do with stretching the truth somewhat to make for a better story.
Didion mentions how with a diary, one would have to write exactly what happened, whereas with a
notebook, she feels she only has to jot down some things. Like she would be able to expand on what
happened later, make it up as she goes along. And yet it is precisely that fictitious crab that makes me
see the afternoon all over again, a home movie run all too often, the father bearing gifts, the child
weeping, an exercise in family love and guilt (Didion 83). She says how part of her story about the
cracked crab was untrue, and exaggerated, however it is that part that makes her remember and
believe it all the more. O Brien plays with similar ideas about truth, elaborating on it in the chapter
How to Tell a True War Story. The story Sanders tells about the men and the mountain, speaks of
strange sounds, almost sounds like it s a story about ghosts, and he mentions how he doesn t really
remember all of the details, so some of it may be exaggerated.

Write An Argumentative Essay On Ufos
Do you believe in UFOs? Do you believe in alien life? How about NASA and government cover ups?
Footage from NASA Earth orbit shuttle missions published by YouTube channel secureteam10 offers
undeniable proof of alien ships. I use the word undeniable loosely. Because NASA and the
government find new ways, and old, to describe possible alien UFO sightings. The tone of the
secureteam10 commentator has a more sober tone than usual. It is almost convincing. Could this
footage of UFOs captured by NASA be the real deal?
Undeniable Proof of Alien UFOs
The YouTube video claims to offer solid proof alien UFOs do in fact exist. Normally the commentary
is filled with excitement. However, a more serious tone is taken to describe this footage. NASA
footage from the 2005 STS 114 Space Shuttle Mission shows an object move across the camera, stop,

Or ignore the issue completely. The discussion of aliens or UFOs is not too transparent. Their most
common excuses for the anomalies found on space footage is ice crystals or foreign space debris.
However, the changing of direction and speed of the objects doesn t quite match up with the space
agency s usual excuses. Could NASA be covering up UFOs? The question most people ask is, why
cover it up?
Government Doesn t Need to Hide Anymore
The majority of the U.S. population may not openly say they believe in aliens and UFOs. However,
we all think about it. We have all entertained the idea that aliens do in fact exist. The public s
fascination with space and technology demands it. This is what makes Star Wars so popular. Why Sci

Music And Its Impact On Society
There are two pillars of society that have and always will be prevalent in civilizations. The first pillar
being competition of power; society will always have individuals in charge of the decisions regarding
the administration of their civilization. Secondly, being the self expression of the human condition
through music. Both concepts widely disparate, although both vital to the constitution of one s identity
and development of their life choices. A person s life will always be altered due to interactions with
their environment. For James Hornaday Murray, the two most influential aspects of his environment

Songs metamorphosed to expression of frustration and anger towards the political choices of
countries. Music concerts were then formed to create a focal point of social change and discovery of
one s self. One of the most momentous concerts in James Murray s life was Woodstock in 1969.
Woodstock was the coalescing of the most influencing artists of their decade making an impact on
their world; James learned from this event how music was more than just an art form but an
outpouring of raw emotion. He learned of the power of music. Woodstock was stationed on a 600 acre
dairy farm in Bethel, New York. Initially its purpose was for the founders to start their own label; it
transformed into a cultural mecca for peace, love and antiwar sentiments. (Sanjek) The youth
counterculture was able to experience musicians such as Joan Baez, Creedence Clearwater Revival,
The Grateful Dead and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. (Festival concludes) For James, just beginning
his adult life, these bands brought on new ideas he never quite imagined were possible. It was due to
the fact that he had grown up with parents who lived in an era of conformity. Thus he never
experienced this type of self expression and open anger with the American Government.
Experimentation with oneself was not permissible. Questioning the government was not thought of
and individuals could not make a difference. Woodstock provided

Early Stages Of Dementia Essay
Each person may experience dementia in different ways. Fluctuation of needs and abilities It is not
fully known why somebody with dementia can have good days and bad days . Part of the answer for
this could be because we all have good and bad days. This very much depends on how we are feeling,
how much sleep we have had, what activity we are doing and how much we want to do that activity. If
you do not like doing something, it seems to take forever to get it over and done with. The time drags
and your level of boredom or uninterest rises. On the other hand, when you are doing something you
enjoy, the time rushes by so that before you know it the activity comes to an end. This theory could

effect on our memory. In the early stages of dementia, the person may be fully aware that they have
forgotten where they have put things. This can cause their stress levels to rise, resulting in added
memory difficulties, frustration and confusion. In these earlier stages it is important for you as a care
worker to give the person emotional support. Do not be tempted to take over what they are having
difficulty with. Help them to calm down and think about what they are doing. The more the person
becomes agitated, the greater their difficulties will become. As the condition progresses, the more
support the person will require. This will include support with day to day activities. You can give
support through reminding the person what they need to do. Do not overload them as this will increase
their stress and therefore their symptoms. If the person asks you a question and repeats it several times

It can be understood that social networking sites can only do so much to ensure the age of their

it must be 18 or older. While this is troublesome, it does guarantee the security of the site, therefore,
lawsuits should be virtually non existent since the website has done everything in its power to make

Desecration of the Flag Should be Prohibited
Desecration of the Flag Should be Prohibited
Is it necessary to allow all forms of protest to protect the right of citizens to express grievances against
their government? It is not a violation of free speech to outlaw burning of the flag because it is not
speech. It will not lead to the limiting of other avenues of protest, of which many are more expressive
of specific problems. All attempts to protect the flag short of a Constitutional amendment have failed
in the end. A change to the constitution to prohibit the desecration of the U.S. flag is a necessary step
to protect one of our most sacred national symbols.

The act of burning a flag does not address any specific grievance; it only expresses unhappiness with
the United States in general. Persons who are generally unhappy with this country should be able to
find a better way to express their displeasure. The ineffective nature of protesting in this manner is
summarized well by Robert Goldstein: a generally high counterproductive political tactic one that
mostly alienates people and makes them turn away before they have a chance of grasping any
particular message that such conduct seeks to convey (preface, Pg XI). Flag burning is not a necessary
or effective way to protest against any particular action.
The flag is not a symbol representing the government of the United States; burning it portrays
displeasure, not with government policies, but with the country itself. This is why so many people,
particularly those who have fought for this country, find burning a flag a deplorable act. It is a direct
offense to everything that they put their lives at risk to protect. Burning a flag has been construed as a
direct attack on the sovereignty of the United States, (Burning the Flag 14). A hallowed symbol of our

Handwriting s Personality Traits
The idea that are handwriting reveals personality traits is largely recognized throughout the world
whether people believe it to be a fact or myth. Writing is usually described as a physical way to
express thoughts. When a person thinks, each thought is inevitably influenced by some emotion or
previous bias that the person has. Since writing at the time it is believed that the emotions and bias
would translate into the handwriting in turn the handwriting could, hypothetically, be used to reveal
personality traits. Yet, handwriting changes all the time a person can change their handwriting many
times during the day. Does this signify the feelings that the person goes through each time the pen is
put to paper, or does it show that this belief is a myth due to the fact that the handwriting changes so
often? The ability to figure a person s personality traits just by analyzing their handwriting, if valid,

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (G.A.A.P)
GENERALLY ACCEPTED ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES (G.A.A.P)
GAAP is an international convention of good accounting practices. It is based on the following core
principles. In certain instances particular types of accountants that deviate from these principles can be
held liable.
The Business Entity Concept
The business entity concept provides that the accounting for a business or organization be kept
separate from the personal affairs of its owner, or from any other business or organization. This means
that the owner of a business should not place any personal assets on the business balance sheet. The
balance sheet of the business must reflect the financial position of the business alone. Also, when
transactions of the business are recorded, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this is not done, the financial statements will not measure the results of operations fairly. The Cost
Principle
The cost principle states that the accounting for purchases must be at their cost price. This is the figure
that appears on the source document for the transaction in almost all cases. There is no place for
guesswork or wishful thinking when accounting for purchases.
The value recorded in the accounts for an asset is not changed until later if the market value of the
asset changes. It would take an entirely new transaction based on new objective evidence to change
the original value of an asset.
There are times when the above type of objective evidence is not available. For example, a building
could be received as a gift. In such a case, the transaction would be recorded at fair market value
which must be determined by some independent means. The Consistency Principle
The consistency principle requires accountants to apply the same methods and procedures from period
to period. When they change a method from one period to another they must explain the change
clearly on the financial statements. The readers of financial statements have the right to assume that
consistency has been applied if there is no statement to the contrary.
The consistency principle prevents people from changing methods for the sole purpose of
manipulating figures on the financial statements. The Materiality Principle
The materiality principle requires

concentration camps had on children, but Tereska s art speaks largely to the topic of the psychology of
children s art. Tereska s response of confusion and distraught is displayed too close for comfort.

The Impact of Human Activity on the Decline in Population...
HOW HAS HUMAN ACTIVITY IMPACTED THE DECLINE IN POPULATION OF THE
MACQUARIE ISLAND ELEPHANT SEAL?
Kylie Fraser 16622393
Curtin University
Word Count: 2500
1.0 Introduction
1.1 Problem Statement
Over a century ago the elephant seal population on Macquarie Island survived a period of severe over
harvesting. The practice of hunting seals for food, oil and skins had a high demand in the market and
was largely carried out by Sydney based gangs (Bradshaw et al, 2003). During the early 1900 s
Macquarie Island was declared a nature reserve and the hunting of seals came to a halt. After cessation
of sealing, the population of the elephant seal increased but is still recovering. Over the years, a
notable decline in the population has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was found that after the cessation of sealing, the population on Macquarie Island began to recover.
Hindell and Burton (1988), reviews the history of sealing at Macquarie Island and the number of
elephant seals post sealing and pre sealing, and found that although the population of the elephant seal
slowly recovered, the number of seals that returned to the island was distinctively less than prior to the
commencement of sealing. There is still ongoing research on whether this was due to the seals being
too frightened to return back to the island (Burton Van Den Hoff, 2002).
3.2 Habitat Requirements and Food Source
Research shows that elephant seals come to shore mainly to breed and moult and prefer sandy or stone
beaches (Carrick and Ingham, 1960). On Macquarie Island, the elephant seal breeds mainly on the
northern tip of the island where there is an extensive beach area that is easy for the seals to come
ashore (Carrick and Ingham, 1960). However, dotted around the entire island there are also other
colonies of substantial numbers on other sandy beaches (DPIWE, 2003).
Located south of Macquarie Island are important feeding areas for the elephant seal. The elephants
seal main source of food is deep water squid and fish that is found near shore (Bradshaw et al, 2003).
Research shows that the elephant seal mainly like to

The History Of Québécois In Québec
Enriched with its unique history, Québec is a beautiful province diverse in its landscape, heritage and
flavorful dishes. Québec is a perfect destination for those who love to witness incredible examples of
God s creation in nature, visit ancient historical landmarks or try flavorful dishes. One day I hope to
walk along the bridge spanning les chutes Montmorency, a waterfall higher than Niagara Falls.
Nearly five hundred years ago, Jacque Cariter set sail on an expedition for King Louis I to find Asai.
Instead of reaching his intended destination, he discovered what would become French Canada.
However it was Samuel de Champlian, one hundred years later, to truly claim the land for France and
to establish a permanent capitol of New France, Québec city. It remained so for a century and a half,
expanding in agriculture, population, and territory and establishing a french colonial administration.
However during the Seven Year War France was forced to sign the Treaty of Paris with England after
General Wolfe conquered Québec. Therefore, Canada transferred from a province of France to a
colonial of Britain. Canada eventually divided into upper and lower colonies, Ontario and Québec.

Analyse The Streingths and Weaknesses Of The Boston...
In this essay I will look at the strengths and weaknesses of using the Boston Matrix to help make
decisions in business. I will first briefly explain the Boston Matrix and then analyse its effectiveness
as an aid to making a marketing strategy.
Like Ansoff s matrix, the Boston Matrix is a well known tool for marketing managers. It was
developed by the large US consulting group and is a way that a business can compare all of its
products. The two aspects it looks at are market share (relative to that of competitors) and market
growth. To use it you would look at all of your products and sort them into 4 categories, stars
(products with a high market growth and a high market share), cash cows (high market share in a
market with little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several advantages and disadvantages of using the Boston Matrix to help make decisions
like this...
Firstly, there is a common assumption that a high market share will automatically mean high
profitability of a product. This isn t always the case, as the costs of development of a product must be
taken into consideration. For example, when Boeing launch a new jet, yes they have a high market
share but they still must cover the extremely high development costs. Although jets are a very
specialised product, it is the same for other more simple products as a large chunk of a companies
resources go on design and research. Also, at the launch of a new product lots of money must be spent
on advertising to ensure that the product does get the market share it wants. The good thing about this
is that if this risk is undertaken, the product may in the future become a cash cow and the companies
will be able to reap the benefits and the product will be able to support new products. Do you see the
cycle that the products follow?, this all links very closely with the product lifecycle. Of course a
company should not just assume that a product will follow this cycle, there is no guarantee that a
product will follow this cycle and a marketing department would be stupid to assume that a product
will. This is another problem with using the Boston Matrix to make decisions (as it is a problem with
all other aspects of marketing), that markets just aren t that predictable.

Some very interesting questions come to mind and we will be discussing them at length. The questions
are: Why did Monique Mandy fail to launch a new innovation in Tanzania? What effect did country
and market conditions have on this? What is the importance of social capital and networks in
entrepreneurship? Did Monique learn out of this failure? What would she do or avoid next time?
Without discussing and address these questions, this paper would not have properly analyzed the

THE MAIN REPORT
The Company Adesemi
Adesemi, an American start up in Africa, had been trying for six years to blanket the developing world
with desperately needed wireless communications services. It had raised more than $15 million in
venture capital and launched the world s first fully integrated virtual phone system which incorporated
voice mail, pagers, and hundreds of pay phones in one of its poorest countries, Tanzania. Then
Adesemi crashed to earth, leaving its founder, Monique Maddy, with a company that was a shadow of
the powerhouse she had envisioned. The company s demise was personally and financially devastating
to Maddy, a Liberian born entrepreneur who grew up wanting to work for the United Nations and who
ultimately trained at Harvard Business School . According to Maddy Monique My

Amanda Berry was the victim that I chose to write about. She was born on April 22, 1986. She was
born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Amanda Berry disappeared the night before turning 17. She was
walking from her job at Burger King, and was abducted by Ariel Castro. She had been last seen on
April 21, 2003. Ariel Castro lured Amanda Berry into his vehicle. Berry was listed as a missing person
by her mother. Amanda Berry mother Louwana Miller died while Amanda was still messing. Amanda
was abducted for 10 years. Amanda also had a 6 year daughter that was later identified to be Ariel
Castro. Amanda was rape, beat, and tortured by Ariel Castro. Ariel kept the girls up the stairs with
bolted doors. Ariel would sometimes take his daughter out with him, but would leave the ladies locked
up in the house. On this day, Ariel left one of the doors unlock and Amanda let her daughter slide out
the front door to get help. On the day of MAY 6, 2013, she was finally free. Amanda made a phone too

this routine activity theory to, because Amanda was a easy target in this situation. Ariel seen a young

being captive so long with Castro he had Amanda Berry brain wash. Another theory that fits this case

Pavlov s and Erikson s Theories Essay
Ivan Pavlov developed a theory called classical conditioning which proposes that learning process
occurs through associations between an environmental stimulus and a naturally occurring stimulus.
Classical conditioning involves placing a neutral signal before a naturally occurring reflex like
associating the food with the bell in Pavlov experiment. In classical conditioning, behavior is learnt by
association where a stimulus that was originally neutral can become a trigger for substance use or
cravings due to repeated associations between those stimuli and substance use (Pavlov, 1927).
The other aspect in classical conditioning is extinction, which occurs when a conditioned stimulus is
no longer paired with an unconditioned stimulus. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this care is not given to a child, the child becomes insecure and does not learn to trust others. This
stage therefore, brings hope. The second stage is where the child learns autonomy versus shame.
During this stage the child gains a little control of his or her life thus building self esteem and
autonomy. It is in this stage that the child struggles for his or her own control and to separate from
others. The child learns what is wrong and right by the parent s use of no and this creates the
important skill of will. If not dealt with well, the child may develop shame and doubt. Children with
disability may become shameful and doubtful of their conditions if not well counseled and helped to
negotiate through the stage as Davidson Strauss (1992) notes. During the third stage, the child learns
initiative versus guilt, which occurs during the play age. Here, the child learns to imagine and to
cooperate with peers. With the new found freedom, the individual pursues new tasks that will
empower him or her in order to manage the society s expectations. The development of these
attributes may be hindered by guilt resulting to the individual becoming fearful and continuing to
depend on adults.
The fourth stage is development of industry versus inferiority. As the world enlarges for the child, he
or she learns more formal skills in life like how to relate with peers and neighbors,

Siddhartha Temptation
Siddhartha PEA: Temptation
Temptation can make one see the world in a whole new light. This is a strong theme in the book
Siddhartha By Hermann Hesse. This theme was shown when in the book Siddhartha resisted
temptation to go after his son, when he gave into temptation with Kamala and when he resisted the
temptation to kill himself.
To start, Siddhartha was tempted to go after his son, but when he didn t, he finally saw how his father
felt when he left home himself. He felt a deeper love the runaway boy, like a wound and yet felt at the
same time that this wound was not intended to fester in him but that it should heal. Because the wound
did not heal during that hour, he was sad. In place of the goal which had brought him here after ...

Better, thought the young Samana to make sacrifices to the fair Kamala (p.47) Daily, however, at the
hour she invited him, he visited the beautiful Kamala, in fine shoes and soon he also brought her
presents. (p.53) The fact that Siddhartha started giving into his temptation that he deprived himself of
for the beginning of the story shows that giving into temptation can really change who one is as a
person. Siddhartha went from mortifying himself, to indulging in every urge he had. This changed
Siddhartha from wanting and needing very little, to wanting and needing only the best.
Lastly, Siddhartha was tempted to kill himself but when he didn t he realized that there was so much
he had to live for and that he could change himself for the better He looked down and was completely
filled with a desire to let himself go and be submerged in the water (p.71) He then had fallen asleep
and on awakening he looked at the world like a new man. (p.73) These quotes prove that temptation
can make one see the world in a whole new light because is Siddhartha had not resisted the temptation
to kill himself, he would not have awoken to find that life is truly a beautiful thing. The fact that his
outlook on life changed after resisting the temptation to commit suicide shows that temptation can
make one see the world differently, and in this case potentially see it

Components Of Multi Core Architecture
Multi core architecture 1. Introduction: It s a new trend in Computer Architecture in which, multiple
processor cores are replicated in one single integrated circuit die. These cores fit in single processor
socket called Chip Multi Processor (CMP), runs in parallel enhancing the overall speed of a program
in execution time. Each core has it s own time sliced threads executing CPU instructions just like in
uniprocessor. 2. Multi core Processors and Operating Systems: Most major Operating Systems support
multi core processors. Operating System perceives each core as separate processor. The operating
system scheduler maps it s threads and processes to different cores. 3. Advantages And Disadvantages:
Shifting towards more parallelism is a trend now in Computer Architecture. Many applications are
being multi threaded. For example, each opened tab in the browser runs in different threads. Games
are becoming increasingly multi threaded. File compression programs are multi threaded. Video
encoders are multi threaded as well. Most image processing programs are multi threaded. So,
converting to multi core processors was a must. It increases the speed, enhance the performance and
makes the clock frequency much higher. But, here we have to differentiate between two things. Using
multi core processors with multi threaded applications, and using it in single threaded applications.
Using multi core processors with multi threaded applications have

grin in wonder. An alternate extraordinary move he is known for is Thriller , it wasn t simply a move,
it was a music feature short. It is a thirteen moment feature about Michael admitting his adoration for
the young lady he really likes, yet at last he startles her with reality about him being a werewolf. The
feature was discharged on December 2, 1983. Indeed today, the music feature is still played and
discussed consistently. It has been changed by fans and films everywhere throughout the world. In the
film 13 going on 30 , there was a scene when the on screen characters and performers moved to the

Informative Speech On Cochlear
could you imagine a world where you aren t able to hear a sound? Well, for hundreds of thousands of
people this is unfortunately their reality. However, with advances in technology people are now able to
hear for the first time and let me tell you, that s certainly music to my ears. A new piece of medical
technology known as the cochlear implant is a life changer that helps the deaf to live a normal life.
Anyone of any age who has highly impaired hearing loss or suffers from being deaf could have a
cochlear implant. Damage to the inner ear, Aging, prolonged exposure to loud noise and diseases such
as rubella (German measles) or mumps may cause wear and tear on the hairs or nerve cells in the
cochlea that send sound signals to the brain. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this moment the speech processor converts the sound signals heard through the microphone
into digital signals. Following on, the digital signals are then sent through to the transmitter. The
transmitter, which converts the digital signals into electric impulses, sends this signal through to the
receiver/ stimulator using radio waves.
The receiver is located adjacently to the transmitter on the other side of the skull and attaches to the
electrode array. These two components are internal devices, with the electrode array going through the
ear canal and cochlear. The receiver induces the electric impulses along the electrode array to
stimulate the hearing nerve fibres in the inner ear. Signals are then sent via the hearing nerve to the
brain and recognised as sound.
However, perhaps the most phenomenal feature of the cochlear implant is how the device is powered.
Due to there being no wires attached to the receiver from the other side of the skull, a method known
as magnetic induction is used. Magnetic induction occurs when a circuit with an alternating current
flowing through it generates current in another circuit simply by being placed within close proximity
of it. Using a magnet that is surrounded by a coil allows for the magnetic field of the magnet to be
induced in the wire of the

The Characteristics Of A Bastard Out Of Carolina
More often than not, families generally have something that relates back to their family names,
whether it s the way they speak or a characteristic that they all happen to share. There are numerous
aspects that make a Boatwright woman, including having the ability to tell a good story. Considering
Bastard Out of Carolina is a semi autobiographical novel, it incorporates many stories and personal
experiences. Ruth Anne, or Bone, tells the story of her life throughout the entire book and includes an
abundance of dialogue between her and her family. A great deal of the conversations that Bone adds in
the novel tend to be stories, mainly by the women in her family. Therefore, being a competent
storyteller is one of the ways of being a Boatwright woman.
The one particular story that Aunt Alma portrays dwells on Bone s biological father. Towards the
beginning of the novel, Bone speculates about her biological father and why she has never met him. In
an effort to prove that he is not someone that Bone should want to meet, she describes the one time he
came to see Bone: That boy was scared shitless, holding you...You just looked at him with your black
Indian eyes like he wasn t nothing but a servant...Then you pissed a pailful all down his sleeves, the
front of his shirt, and right down his pants halfway to his knees! You peed all over that son of a bitch!
(Allison 25). Joyous with this memory, Alma told Bone this flashback because she likes the fact that
Bone did spiteful

the many paths the traveler can take on the journey and how the paths have no end, they could also

  • 2. Analysis Of The Second Sex By De Beauvoir The Second Sex is a piece of literature that criticizes society, especially men for oppressing women. De Beauvoir believes that men limit women to their privileges by characterizing them as objects. Furthermore, Beauvoir sees that in society while men are considered dominant, and important, women, on the other hand, are considered, irrelevant, and insignificant. The main reason why woman are viewed this way is due to the roles they have in society. Their whole life they must appease to their husband s commands and perform household responsibilities. The Second Sex highlights the vast imbalanced roles calling out what is wrong in society. De Beauvoir questions why an entire half of the human population is being discriminated against. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have already pointed out that what Freud calls the Electra complex is not, as he supposes, a sexual desire (De Beauvoir, 287). De Beauvoir believes the daughter to husband relationship is not a sexual desire instead that if the father shows the daughter love she will feel like she belongs in society, she will become more confident as it will give her a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Another text that criticizes society because of the oppression of women is Sula by Toni Morrison. However, Morrison takes a different approach as she does not explicitly say her purpose of her writing nor point out any flaws in society. Instead, she results to mimicry to prove her point. Morrison in her writing uses two characters: Nel and Sula. Morrison states, Because each had discovered years before that they were neither white nor male, and that all freedom and triumph was forbidden to them, they had to set about creating something else (Morrison, 51). Sula and Nel at an early age of 12 realized that because they are neither white nor male, for most of their lives they will experience discrimination and be denied freedom in their community. Here Morrison is trying to show just how easy it was to identify even to young kids how African American women were oppressed in communities. Sula was determined to not conform to her community s expectations. However, Nel decides to still follow the path of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. It Is Not Unheard Of To See Workers Protesting Against It is not unheard of to see workers protesting against the executives of their company; whether it is for better working conditions, a higher salary, or new policies that they don t agree with. In fact, throughout American history, specifically with beginning with the Industrial Revolution, employees have protested for their rights to be acknowledged and for their voices to be heard. However, the Market Basket protest that took place during the summer of 2014 is an exception to this norm. Not unlike traditional protests, Market Basket employees left the New England grocery stores vacant with only a few essential employees remained to keep the stores opened for their beloved customers. What sets the Market Basket protest apart from previous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another lawsuit filed in 2009 against Arthur T. caused Rafaela Evans to switch her allegiance from Arthur T. to Arthur S after the lawsuit was settled in June 2013. The allegiance shift caused a personal rift between Evans and Arthur T. and Evan s vote switched the balance between the two cousins. When the time came for the board of directors to elect executives in 2014, Arthur T. was voted out. Although Rafaela Evans did not have the power on her own to fire Arthur T., this example of interpersonal conflict exemplifies how relationships between individuals can affect the grand scheme of organizations. The workers believed that the firing of Arthur T. Demoulas would lead to the destruction of Market Basket. The belief that Arthur T. • 4. Ab Isotype Switching Case Study Before encountering an antigen, a naïve B cell expresses both IgM and IgD on its surface. A single transcript of VDJ CμCδ is alternatively spliced to yield either the μ or the δ heavy chains. There is no DNA switch region before the Cδ gene. Switch regions are found in DNA upstream of each constant region gene (except in the δ chain). Ab isotype switching occurs by recombination between switch regions (S), with deletion of the intervening DNA, and must occur before functional transcripts of these genes are made. Isotype switching requires the enzyme AID, which is expressed in B lymphocytes in response to signals from T cells These experiments tell us that the CD40L on the surface of activated T cells must bind to the CD40 on the macrophage surface to activate the macrophages against Pneumocystis jirovecii organisms. ... The Business Entity Concept The business entity concept provides that the accounting for a business or organization be kept separate from the personal affairs of its owner, or from any other business or organization. This is the figure that appears on the source document for the transaction in almost all cases. There is no place for guesswork or wishful thinking when accounting for purchases. The value recorded in the accounts for an asset is not changed until later if the market value of the asset changes. It would take an entirely new transaction based on new objective evidence to change the original value of an asset. There are times when the above type of objective evidence is not available. For example, a building could be received as a gift. In such a case, the transaction would be recorded at fair market value which must be determined by some independent means. The Consistency Principle The consistency principle requires accountants to apply the same methods and procedures from period to period. When they change a method from one period to another they must explain the change clearly on the financial statements. The readers of financial statements have the right to assume that consistency has been applied if there is no statement to the contrary. To use it you would look at all of your products and sort them into 4 categories, stars (products with a high market growth and a high market share), cash cows (high market share in a market with little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are several advantages and disadvantages of using the Boston Matrix to help make decisions like this... Firstly, there is a common assumption that a high market share will automatically mean high profitability of a product. This isn t always the case, as the costs of development of a product must be taken into consideration. For example, when Boeing launch a new jet, yes they have a high market share but they still must cover the extremely high development costs. Although jets are a very specialised product, it is the same for other more simple products as a large chunk of a companies resources go on design and research. Also, at the launch of a new product lots of money must be spent on advertising to ensure that the product does get the market share it wants. The good thing about this is that if this risk is undertaken, the product may in the future become a cash cow and the companies will be able to reap the benefits and the product will be able to support new products. Do you see the cycle that the products follow?, this all links very closely with the product lifecycle. Of course a company should not just assume that a product will follow this cycle, there is no guarantee that a product will follow this cycle and a marketing department would be stupid to assume that a product will. This is another problem with using the Boston Matrix to make decisions (as it is a problem with all other aspects of marketing), that markets just aren t that predictable. ... Some very interesting questions come to mind and we will be discussing them at length. The questions are: Why did Monique Mandy fail to launch a new innovation in Tanzania? What effect did country and market conditions have on this? What is the importance of social capital and networks in entrepreneurship? Did Monique learn out of this failure? What would she do or avoid next time? Without discussing and address these questions, this paper would not have properly analyzed the Adesemi Failure as it were. THE MAIN REPORT The Company Adesemi Adesemi, an American start up in Africa, had been trying for six years to blanket the developing world with desperately needed wireless communications services. It had raised more than $15 million in venture capital and launched the world s first fully integrated virtual phone system which incorporated voice mail, pagers, and hundreds of pay phones in one of its poorest countries, Tanzania. Then Adesemi crashed to earth, leaving its founder, Monique Maddy, with a company that was a shadow of the powerhouse she had envisioned. The company s demise was personally and financially devastating to Maddy, a Liberian born entrepreneur who grew up wanting to work for the United Nations and who ultimately trained at Harvard Business School . Pavlov s and Erikson s Theories Essay Ivan Pavlov developed a theory called classical conditioning which proposes that learning process occurs through associations between an environmental stimulus and a naturally occurring stimulus. Classical conditioning involves placing a neutral signal before a naturally occurring reflex like associating the food with the bell in Pavlov experiment. In classical conditioning, behavior is learnt by association where a stimulus that was originally neutral can become a trigger for substance use or cravings due to repeated associations between those stimuli and substance use (Pavlov, 1927). The second stage is where the child learns autonomy versus shame. During this stage the child gains a little control of his or her life thus building self esteem and autonomy. It is in this stage that the child struggles for his or her own control and to separate from others. The child learns what is wrong and right by the parent s use of no and this creates the important skill of will. If not dealt with well, the child may develop shame and doubt. Children with disability may become shameful and doubtful of their conditions if not well counseled and helped to negotiate through the stage as Davidson Strauss (1992) notes. These cores fit in single processor socket called Chip Multi Processor (CMP), runs in parallel enhancing the overall speed of a program in execution time. Each core has it s own time sliced threads executing CPU instructions just like in uniprocessor. 2. Multi core Processors and Operating Systems: Most major Operating Systems support multi core processors. Operating System perceives each core as separate processor. The operating system scheduler maps it s threads and processes to different cores. 3. Advantages And Disadvantages: Shifting towards more parallelism is a trend now in Computer Architecture. Many applications are being multi threaded. For example, each opened tab in the browser runs in different threads. Games are becoming increasingly multi threaded. File compression programs are multi threaded. Video encoders are multi threaded as well. Most image processing programs are multi threaded. So, converting to multi core processors was a must. Following on, the digital signals are then sent through to the transmitter. The transmitter, which converts the digital signals into electric impulses, sends this signal through to the receiver/ stimulator using radio waves. The receiver is located adjacently to the transmitter on the other side of the skull and attaches to the electrode array. These two components are internal devices, with the electrode array going through the ear canal and cochlear. The receiver induces the electric impulses along the electrode array to stimulate the hearing nerve fibres in the inner ear. Signals are then sent via the hearing nerve to the brain and recognised as sound. However, perhaps the most phenomenal feature of the cochlear implant is how the device is powered. Due to there being no wires attached to the receiver from the other side of the skull, a method known as magnetic induction is used.
