Causes And Disadvantages Of Internet Addiction Essay
Nowadays, the Internet is one of the most important means of modern technology, which occupies and
invades minds and souls. This technology is exploited by some to satisfy their curiosity, to learn about
new discoverers, and to be challenged by adventures and to satisfy other desires. Despite the
privileges it has brought to people s lives, the Internet however has its own disadvantages. Internet
addiction is one of the most dangerous and frightening problems that has swept the world in all
societies, and it is a new disease of this modern age. Internet addiction in people can be expressed in
terms of the excessive time and intent that is being put in its use. Young people are usually victims of
Internet addiction. Therefore, the compulsive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Internet addiction is a disorder and is considered as a disease if it limits the use of the Internet is
substantially with daily life. According to Birdwell (2007), 7 percent of people worldwide said that
their use of mobile phones and the internet caused them to lose a relationship or a job. People could
use the internet on laptops or even in mobile phones. The internet therefore has become essential to
the daily lives of more than one billion people. Thus, isolation and loneliness are one of the effects of
being addicted to the internet. The long time spent in front of the computer or mobile reduces social
activity, and this certainly affects the social relationships and caused people to lose some of their
social relationships like friendships or loved ones. According to Young (n.d.), in the United States,
addictive online is also the problem of infidelity. Like having an affair through the Internet connection

Out of the three goals, (Personal, educational, and professional) I chose two of the goals that I am
focusing on and that is my personal and educational goals. For my personal goals, I want to create a
big picture of what I plan to do in life. Then I want to break them down in order to reach my goals,
then once I have them together, then I would start working on them to achieve them. For
example(Specific and Measurable goals), I plan on finding a job that has great benefits and the best
rate of pay, and one that does not require working on weekends(Monday Friday only), and not
working overtime. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I plan on earning my Master s Degree within a year of Graduation. While I am currently in school, I
will rely on my instructors, academic counselors, graduation team, the GCU Online Library, and the
school s other resources that will give me additional help when I need them. If I feel lost or a subject
seems too difficult, then I will ask e mail my instructors and let he or she know that I am having
difficulty and that I need help. If I am feeling overwhelmed about school, I will seek the help and
advice of my academic counselor to help me come up with a solution to help me feel relaxed and not
stressed with taking online classes. I know that I will be successful if I always ask and seek help here
at GCU.
After all of this being said, I believe that I am a D1 in the development level, which is The
Enthusiastic Beginner (Low Competence/High Commitment). I would be enthusiastic and be highly
committed to doing my job if I were to have a certain position or even as a student in school on certain
levels in my program, but at the same time, I would and still do not yet know all of the ropes yet.
Right now I consider myself a very curious, inexperienced person who does quite have the skills
required for the job in hand or the things that I have learned in school so far, but I am yet hopeful that
I will learn to develop and learn more and more skills in the near future.

Argumentative Essay On Buy Nothing Day
The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically
changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need
at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to
provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts
to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current
lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable
impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it
provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the
materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories,
vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate
change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out
forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using
excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up.
While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an
immediate solution to the issue at hand, the ideals preached by the yearly event can make the

Analysis Of The Movie King Arthur
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Guy Ritchie
The action packed movie King Arthur: Legend of the Sword directed by Guy Ritchie, also directed
popular films, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and The Man from
U.N.C.L.E.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is an exhilarating movie which always has you sat on the edge of
your seat as the movie is so intense and action packed as it always has something going on whether it
be a fight scene or Arthur being told something about his father and his family. King Arthur was a
child who was too young to know what happened to his parents as at a young age his parent (Uther
Pendragon) the king at the time was killed by Vortigern (Arthur s uncle) due to want of power as he

There were some points in the movie when it got confusing such as when King Vortigern made a deal
with 3 creatures under his castle where the King has to sacrifice a loved one to become powerful yet
the story does not reveal who these creatures are and how they are able to give the King such power.
Not even the mage who fights to help Arthur become king tells us who is making Vortigern so
powerful.
My favourite scene in the movie is the montage of Arthur growing up as a child it shows him being
taken into care in the tavern and making friends, learning how to fight then going to adult life when he
works and steals for money and will do anything to help his friends and family who helped him since
he was a child, along with the music with the sped up scene it goes well together and shows the
viewers that Arthur has a nightmare every night about his father dying although he cannot remember
exactly what happened. It shows what type of person he is when the montage of him growing up
shows him storing away money in boxes behind a wall, no one knows why he was saving all this

The Importance Of A Hydroponics And Aquaculture Gardening...
Investigation and Planning
When contemplating multiple concepts, I ended up deciding that my topic for my personal project is
building and maintaining an aquaponics garden. An aquaponics garden is the combination of
hydroponics and aquaculture. These terms simply refer to the soil less growing of plants, and the
raising and growing of fish in one system. Hydroponics and aquaculture combine together to creating
a single, thriving ecosystem. Aquaculture raises the fish that eventually become large enough to be
consumed by humans for nutritional value, and the gill bearing aquatic animals provide the waste that
the plants use as fertilizer. The soil less growing of plants means to use gravel and the water combined
with fish waste to support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Scientific and technical innovation is the global context that most precisely describes my topic. When
adopting the challenge of a fully functioning ecosystem, I questioned myself as to why I would want
to do this. What came to my mind constantly was the reoccurring thought of wanting to help the
environment. This subcategory explains that the impact of scientific advances is major on the
environment, and this was the original peak of my interest on my topic. The ability to make my own
ecosystem with the new advances stops the growing of weeds, the attack of pests on plants, and back
pain from gardening, Scientific innovation has eliminated the hassle of gardening, in essence.
My prior knowledge on this topic and influences are extensive. My father first thought of wanting to
create a project he could do in his free time. He ended up pulling me into the task, and we thought of
an aquaponics garden. We both were infatuated with the idea, having both a heavy interest in the
science and agricultural field. The topic explored the depths of both of our minds and our interests.
This influenced me by thinking of how I could modify this project. This time I would do it on my own
and make a smaller model. Prior to creating my miniature model, I knew what materials would be
needed. Also, the knowledge of how

Summary Of Globalization
Globalization Textbook Readings (Chapters 19 20) Chapter nineteen elaborates on the big picture of
globalization and discusses the many definitions; contested meanings; and both cultural and economic
aspects of the term. In this chapter, the authors argue that defining the term globalization is difficult,
and stress the importance of understanding the spatial and temporal aspects that parallel its
geographical scope. Furthermore, this chapter emphasizes that globalization is more than
understanding global, national, regional, and local relationships; it is also critical to consider the
uneven development, networks, flows, and interconnectedness in the world. In Key Concepts of
Geography (KCG), chapter twenty discusses aspects of globalization that relate to the physical and
environmental sciences. The chapter emphasizes four key themes related to this: (1) the technologies
for enhancing scientific knowledge; (2) the role physical geographers and environmental scientists
have in the politicization of the environment; (3) the relationship of physical geography with science
and related activity; and (4) the historical and contemporary nature of physical geography. Chapter
twenty also mentions the globalization syndrome and highlights the relationship between politics,
environment, and development; the participation of geography within modern conservation efforts and
historical resource exploitation; and the difficulties that geography has had with concepts which
integrate a wide range of different knowledge of the world. Both chapters address the broadness of
globalization, but chapter twenty stresses that it is not a term which has been frequently applied in the
environmental and physical sciences and it certainly has a place there. In contrast to this, chapter
nineteen places much emphasis on the social aspects of globalization. While this is a notable
difference, both chapters nineteen and twenty do acknowledge temporal and spatial factors, and also
the interconnectedness that globalization often attempts to define.

The Aftermath Of Financial Crisis Of 2008 That Was Caused...
Angel Santizo Finance 320 October 5th 2016 Current Issues In the aftermath of Financial Crisis of
2008 that was caused by poor regulation of the finance industry Dodd Frank was passed. As part of
Dodd Frank, The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) was created to enforce federal
consumer financial laws and protect consumers in financial marketplaces. Its mission is ensuring
financial markets work for consumers and responsible providers for the benefit of the economy as a
whole. In pursuit its mission it aims to protect consumers from illegal, deceptive, unfair and/or
abusive practices. In order to achieve these goals, the CFPB works to empower consumers by creating
tools, answering questions and providing advice to help them understand their choices and shop for
the deal that best fits their needs. It also promotes financial education at all stages of life which
improves financial outcomes. It publishes research in support of better policies. It also educates
financial companies about their obligations under the law. It has the authority to propose new rules
that are in the public interest as well as take action against predatory practices. The CFPB also allows
consumers to file complaints, and monitors financial markets for risks. From inception the CPFB was
authorized by Congress to exert authority over financial companies in 3 specific markets among them
the market for payday, title and certain high cost installment (hereafter referred to as payday) loans

Masculinity In Okonkwo
From the beginning of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, we see that the main character of the
novel, Okonkwo, is a man of action, strength, and impulse. Okonkwo rarely thinks thing through and
hardly ever sees the consequences of his actions and how they can affect others. By exerting a heavy
hand on his wives and children, his authoritarian style of parenting shines through with the rays of
masculinity and dominance pouring into his household. Okonkwo lacks a solid father son relationship
with Nwoye because he is insufficient in his ability to control his fears of becoming his
underachieving and weak father. Let s be honest here, Okonkwo has a lot of Daddy problems. Every
conflict that occurs in the novel is driven by the fact that Okonkwo ... Show more content on

It is important however to note the difference and similarities between Ezinma, Ikemefuna, and
Nwoye. From the start, Nwoye is seen in his Okonkwo s eyes as a recreation of his father, which
angers Okonkwo greatly and is often the cause of his and Nwoye s extremely abusive relationship
Nwoye was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great anxiety for his incipient
laziness... (Achebe,13). The treatment that Okonkwo dishes out to Nwoye shapes him into the
character he is. Nwoye lacks a self confidence because he lives in fear of the consistent reprimands of
his father. Nwoye can never be the man Okonkwo wants him to be because Okonkwo never allows
Nwoye to the opportunity to prove himself without being beaten or harshly scorned. This ultimately
makes Nwoye the man Okonkwo was fearful of, thus proving again that Okonkwo s fear of weakness
leads the charge in the series of unfortunate events in the novel. Unlike Nwoye, Okonkwo genuinely
cares for daughter Ezinma because of her strong masculine qualities. I wish she were a boy , Okonkwo
thought within himself. She understood things so perfectly. Who else among his children could have
read his thoughts so well. (Achebe, 173). Okonkwo thinks of Ezinma as the son he never had as she is
a girl. This frustrates Okonkwo because he wants Ezinma to take on more roles of the family, but
because she is his daughter he must rely on Nwoye instead of

Comparing Napoleon s Approaches To The Unification Of...
Napoleon s authoritarian rule in the 1850s provided a new model in politics to the old ruling class in
Europe. To what degree might the growing urban middle classes and emerging working class rally for
a strong and crucial conservative national state was one of the great political question and the answer
to that question came with the national unification of Italy and Germany.
Primarily there were three approaches to the unification of Italy. First, Mazzini centralized the
democratic republic based on the universal right and the will of the people. Second, Gioberti s a
catholic priest headed the federation of existing states, and third, Italian nations were built around the
aristocratic kingdom of Sardinia Piedmont as german looked towards

The Play Of Louis De Rougemont
The title of the play that I saw was Shipwrecked! An Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of
Louis De Rougemont (As told by Himself.) Donald Margulies is the playwright of this play. Arthur
Grothe directed the show that I saw and where the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire performed it.
The play took place at the Riverside Theater in Haas Fine Arts Center. The play would be considered
an action drama, one that was filled with almost every emotion, but the main genre would be action.
Overall, the major themes of this play were the stories of Louis De Rougemont, the incredible tales
that went on to be proven that they were too good to be true. This play s setting takes place in 19th
century London. The minor themes of this play were mental illness and their affects and love. In the
audience, it is hard not to fall in love with Louis De Rougemont and his tale.
This play is very clear who the protagonist is. The protagonist is Louis De Rougemont. Louis is a boy
who is shut in by his mother, he is not allowed to see the world, and in fact the only thing he sees is
his bed. However, it is his imagination that helps him get through these days. He imagines the stories
his mother tells him with vivid descriptions, so much so that he believes he is destine for a life at sea
after hearing many stories about it. His goal is leave his home and set out to sail for Australia.
However, he has never seen the world, he has only spent sixteen years of his life inside aided by his
mother.

What is a learner profile? A learner profile is a tool that helps educators to explore a student s
background, assessments, interests, strengths, learning styles, the current level of development, and
the priority of learning needs (Positive Partnerships, 2014, Learner Profiles, para. 4). A common form
of disability that requires a learner profile is dyslexia. This disability can affect reading, writing,
spelling, and speaking. School librarians can collaborate, with teachers, to assist students with
disorders, such as dyslexia, to ensure a learning experience that will encourage the student. I will be
creating a profile for a young girl with dyslexia.
The young girl is eight years old and lives outside of the city limits in low income housing. She is the
youngest of three children who live with their mother. Her mother is single and works three jobs to

The Theme of Hubris in Ancient Greek Mythology and Literature
Hubris is a very popular theme in Greek mythology. Hubris was a very important moral concept to the
Greeks. Committing hubris was a very serious crime. Hubris is defined as having extreme pride or
arrogance. Pride became hubris when it became all consuming or hurtful to others. Other actions that
were seen as hubris were acting as if you were equal or more powerful than the gods, or trying to defy
them. Hubris was a severe crime that deserved a serious punishment, and it was the downfall of many
characters in ancient myths. The importance of Hubris to the Greeks is made obvious by how often it
appears as a main theme in their myths. Three stories that show examples of hubris are Oedipus The
King, Antigone, and The Story of Phaethon in Ovid s Metamorphoses. The theme of hubris can be
seen throughout Oedipus The King, and is the reason for the downfall of more than one character.
Oedipus parents, are the first to commit hubris; instead of letting destiny take its course, they acted as
if they were more powerful. They attempted to destroy their child and change their fate. Oedipus
adoptive parents also commit hubris, as they lie to him about his past. Like his parents, Oedipus
believes that he can change his own destiny. His hubris leads to him being irrational, and jumping to
conclusions without first analyzing things. This is what leads him to eventually kill his biological
father. Oedipus might have been able to save his biological mother s life, had he not been too

Altered State Of Consciousness Essay
Consciousness is an individual s awareness of the environment around them, their thoughts, feelings,
memories and sensations. In order to be conscious, one must be awake and aware of the life around
them. Many studies and articles have proved that there are many ways to change the way one thinks
when not fully conscious. Someone in an altered state of mind will not be in full consciousness of
themselves or surroundings. The brain state loses the sense of identity with one s body or normal
sense perceptions. A very popular way to go about altering the human state of mind is through the use
of psychoactive drugs. So what really is happening in the brain when under the influence of

movement and hearing so that they form a more holistic state. The effects of LSD typically last up to
eight hours sometimes more. One who is not tripping would struggle to communicate and understand
the one who is experiencing the tripping . The brain and the sensory processors simply mistake LSD
for serotonin. The drug acts as an antagonist, which means that it binds to the receptor and inhibits the
receptor activity, so therefore LSD stimulates the serotonin 2A receptor the most. When someone
stimulates 5 HT2A receptors with LSD, they get an increase in glutamate cell activity in the frontal
cortex and causes to act more frequently. Long term effects of the drug have shown to be continuously
recurrent hallucinations after taking the drug. Someone may feel like you re not thinking clearly,

pioneers. Dr. Amentorut described the process in five simple steps: 1. Go with your passion 2. Be
willing 3. Learn what has been done before 4. Let the ideas flow 5. Don t give up when the
unexpected happens. The Wright brothers spark for aviation began in 1878, Wilbur, the oldest at
eleven years old and Orville, seven, when their father gave them a toy helicopter. It sparked them to
take it apart and remake it better than it was before they took it apart. Like many other successful
people, but not all, the Wright brothers did not go to college. Even though Wilbur was accepted into
Yale, he decided not to go because he had his teeth knocked out a few weeks prior. This was his set
back, being that he really wanted to go. Despite this setback, in 1892, Wilbur started his bicycle
business, manufacturing and producing bikes. He designed and hand made them himself. He went
with his passion that he found at the age of eleven, creating and designing. Wilbur Wright was also
willing to try something different, and go a different route. When the Wright brothers decided to aim
for the first flight, flight in general, they looked back at previous work of those before them.

A Viable Fetus
Miriam Webster Medical Dictionary defines a viable fetus is capable of living outside the human
uterus, weighing 500 grams or more, and the pregnancy is of 20 weeks in gestation. Not all
pregnancies go as planned as more infants are born before full term, and sometimes between 22 24
weeks of gestation. These infants are at the verge of viability and sometimes resuscitation can lead to
morbidity or mortality.
Whether health care providers resuscitate or not is an ethical dilemma which all health care providers
and family members have to struggle with when it comes to the premature baby as small as the viable
fetus. Although recommendations have been made by organizations including the American Academy
of Pediatrics and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the decision to resuscitate is complex, requiring
careful consideration of multiple factors related to each individual case (Powell, et al., 2012) If the
infant survives after being resuscitated it may have long term heath issues which can be costly for the
family, but some viable fetuses can survive without any negative consequences and live a healthy life.
The question asked is Should an extremely premature baby be saved?
Historical Perspective
Today nurses receive more and better training than nurses several decades ago on what to expect and
do in treating and taking care of the extremely premature babies. Oxygen was introduced in the 1930s
and this was help with the breathing of the

Homeschooling And Traditional Classroom Education
Compare and Contrast Homeschooling and Traditional Classroom Education
People can choose to get homeschooling or not in the 1970s, some famous writer started write relative
innovation at the same time ( Homeschooling 101 , 2012). There are now more than two million
children being homeschooled in the U.S., with the percentage rapidly increasing by 7 percent to 15
percent each year, according to the National Home Education Research Institute ( Homeschooling
101, 2012). Maybe we can find that homeschooling is becoming more popular than traditional school,
but the truth is, most children still choose to study in traditional school. We could not ignore that it is
hard and laborious for parents to teach their own child at home, although the child could learn a great
deal under the homeschooling. If they send their child to traditional school, more time could be saved
and the parent could improve themselves and be an example for their child. For instance, participating
in the activities with other kids and learning from them for comparison. Furthermore, attending
traditional school could save a ton of money for kids to use it on other skill learning. Whatever the
parent decides to do either the homeschooling or send their children to the traditional school, there is
no denying that children can learn things. From textbook knowledge, on average, home schoolers
score at or above the national average on standardized measurement. (Distefano,

Self Perception
When we look at the sky the first thing we wish to see are the stars, those
amazing shinning objects everyone talks about, but not all see. Self concept and
perception work the same way. Through interpersonal communication we relate,
communicate and evolve with other people physically and emotionally and it s affected
by one s self concept, perception and emotion.
Self concept is a term used to refer to how someone thinks about or perceives
themselves. How we think about and evaluate ourselves and how aware we are of
ourselves as a concept to be. A more stable definition is, as Baumeister provides, the
individual s belief about himself or herself, including the person s attributes and who and
what the self is .

The simpler the message, the easier the
other person will get it. You can have a simple discussion by asking straight questions
to someone and having direct and concrete responses. When you have a hard time
discussing an issue that you not know exactly how to express, your recipient might
loose himself in the conversation. Like in any type of communication, there s a chance
that the intended meaning is lost. Specially, when people try to express their feelings
the meanings get wrongly perceived. A person might want to break up a relationship but
in a nice and mature way, so they try to smooth the situation and be sensitive about not
saying something dry that can hurt its partner. But, if it is too sensitive and too nice, the
meaning could get wrongly perceived and the recipient might think its just an issue they
will get over easily, when the point totally was not that.
Perception is someone s reality, it determines how they perceive information from
another person and how the perception of others is the product of how you view
yourself. Perception can be learned, physical or cultural depending on your
environment.
They type of learned perception is formed with someone s personality, from the
thoughts, ideas and beliefs that are taught. For example, when a child communicates
and transmits information with his parents, the parent s personality traits, beliefs and
ethics of life will reflect in the kid. He

Questions On Global Development Of Papua New Guinea, By...
1. The Overarching questions about global development that Professor Jared Diamond wished to
answer were as follows: How did Europeans develop advantages in the first place?, Why did the world
ever become so unequal?, What separates the haves from the have nots?, and How have guns, germs,
and steel shaped the history of the world? He was prompted to begin exploring these issues when he
was visiting Papua New Guinea. He enjoys bird watching and began going to Papua New Guinea
when he was twenty six. He began making regular trips there since then. On one of these trips he met
a man on the beach named Yali, and Yali asked him Why you white man have so much cargo and we
New Guineans have so little? This threw Diamond for a loop and from that moment on he began
researching and trying to find an answer to Yali s question.
2. Diamond makes a statement in the documentary in which he says The power of Europeans rests on
geography. When he comes to this conclusion he addresses many reasons as to why this is true. The
first being the specific geography of people in Papua New Guinea compared to people of Eurasia in
the Stone Age period. The people of Papua New Guinea are isolated on an island that is dense with
jungle and is wet. In Papua New Guinea there are limited resources for hunting and very limited
sources of nutritious food. The main source of food for New Guineans is sago. Sago is stripped from
the sago trees that grow in the jungles and even though it is edible it

Dealing with Poor Parenting Essay
As a teacher in a high need school, I expect to encounter many various challenges ranging from lack
of supplies to administration blunders and difficult coworkers. Of all the trying situations a teacher is
faced with in his or her career, most challenging would be poor parenting. Parents have the greatest
influence in a child s development. They have the greatest impact on their children in most if not all
aspects of the child s personality and outlook on life. Parents, as caregivers and guides, have a
responsibility to push their children into the world and to encourage their children to work hard
towards their goals. Some take this duty much less earnestly than they ought to, resulting in the types
of parents that I often encounter in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Worse, some have no interest in their children s activities at all. Children need to be nourished in every
sense of the term. Without this, their capacity to become successful and productive citizens is
handicapped. The sooner parents begin to recognize this crucial factor; the better off the children will
be in many ways. No attention at home relates to acting out in class. Negative attention (in various
forms of maltreatment) leads to lowered self esteem, keeping the child from reaching their true
potential. As a teacher, all these home issues would act as barriers to my and my students academic
goals within the classroom.
Through hard work, effective communication and parent teacher collaboration, I think in most cases,
these difficulties can be overcome. Frequent contact with parents and encouragement for their
involvement would be great ways to make them aware of what their children require as support in
their academic pursuits. Parents and teachers ought to work together as partners, having the same
goals in mind when it comes to the children. However, I recognize that some parents can be quite
difficult. This issue, within high need schools where children may come from unstable homes, would
be amplified. Fortunately for these children, I am known for never giving up on anyone. Despite the
sheer ignorance or viciousness of some of the parents I expect to encounter, I will always try to

Case Study The Voter Turnout For The Election

One not voting implicitly means consenting to whatever idea proposed during the electoral campaigns
thus that will give more chance to whatever party to win as its voters in favor of them will count more
than those who did not vote and that was the case for the 2016 elections. It is considered more
dangerous not to vote than voting blank, at least the government and those in charge of the elections
could notice and accept that even though the voters did not choose anyone at least he or she tried to
make her voice be heard and that is one main factor of an improving society. Moreover, in order to
increase voter turnout, we as a society, first should try to understand why some people decide not to
vote. As we understand increasingly what the problem we could find better solutions and also could
choose and construct better representatives and ideologies that would push the abstainers to vote. As
the fair vote website explains it we should think about outcomes that better represent the diverse
beliefs of the electorate thus focus on better ideologies (Fair Vote, n.d.). The website also proposes an
alternative named the Universal Voter registration which would modernize voter registration.
Furthermore, the Fair vote website proposes a National Popular vote which according to the website,
would expand presidential campaigns from just ten states to all 50 , that would increase the turnout in
certain areas that probably were not included in the campaign as there

The Prevalence Of Refractive Errors In Children
Refractive errors are the result of misaligned optical components within the eye causing improper
focusing of light onto the retina. Although the optical components may vary by a minute amount, the
resulted blurred vision will not only affect the individual but also society in terms of the health
industry, education, research and socioeconomics. As a result of the impact of refractive errors, there
has been an increasing emphasis for research and action plans placed by eye health organisations and
the government on the development, prevention and control of refractive errors.
As a child s eye begins to develop and undergo emmetropization, there is a dynamic change to the

The most common cause of visual impairment is due to uncorrected refractive error. 2 Studies by
researchers by the Brien Holden Vision Institute approximates the cost to correct refractive errors to
be US$20 045 million.2 The correction of refractive errors make a worthwhile investment as
uncorrected refractive errors cause an estimated US$91,300 million US$327,000 million loss in
productivity. 2 In order to minimise this loss of productivity, it is imperative for the government to
support visual health sectors. Therefore, due to the high economic costs of refractive error, family,
communities and the government must implement preventative or corrective measures.
There are high costs for poverty stricken nations tackling uncorrected refractive errors. The impact of
blindness of a country can amount to $42 billion in 2000. 2 This large sum will be very difficult to set
aside and invest in eye health in developing countries. When eye health is left untreated this will often
increase the cost of repairing eye health issues which furthers the cycle of decreasing eye health care.
Therefore, it is ideal for developing countries to highly invest in quality eye care as soon as they can
afford to train health

Art Statue Analysis
At first glance of the two statues, they look as if they were part of a bigger, grander arrangement. They
both have similar style of carving, composition and go together well. So one can suspect that they may
have been pulled out of a group even without prior knowledge of the people the figures represented.
There are subtle details in both art pieces that helps to convey the emotions without being too dramatic
to the viewer. For example, the position of the art work s hand or the slight leaning of the head. These
may seem to be too inconspicuous to convey a message, but when one sees all these elements come
together in the piece, it all makes sense. The main focus of these art pieces are the emotions they
convey and not necessary the craftsmanship of the artist. The artist is able to capture the viewer s
attention by making the art pieces convey their messages through their eyes and body composition.

Security Social Reform (SSR)
Security Sector Reform, or SSR, is a type of governmental assistance in which another country
supplies helpful support in the democratic direction. An example of this would be in Egypt when the
United States Government helped develop their democracy. This sector also helps those who are used
to being at war find places amongst society and be able to live their lives working a full time job,
rather than a rebel outpost. The SSR uses the help of the citizens currently in place to form the
democracy. In this sense, they do not go into the country and do anything. The SSR is assisting those
who are already there. The following is a synopsis of the SSR and how it could help, and possibly has
helped, the world. West Africa, a sometimes highly dangerous place, was subject to SSR attempts to
help. The SSR is currently trying to find the sources of threat, which are, as Adedeji Ebo states, ...it is
evident that the sources of threat are often internal and that the targets/victims are not merely states
and security forces. (Ebo). The SSR is still trying to help the government and to some degree it has
been successful. Another case was in Iraq, when the Iraqi government had problems as Arnold
Luethold states, However, the Coalition Provisional Authority s (CPA) decision to dissolve all the
forces, including the police forces, without prior consultation with Iraqis, has met considerable
criticism in Iraq and abroad, for it was perceived to undermine Iraq s stability. (Luethold).

How Did Chinese Culture Influence The Development Of Art...
Chinese culture and art flourished in many ways during the Ming dynasty (1368 1644). Scholar
painters (Southern School), also known as the literati, thrived in many artistic aspects during this
period, largely changing the creative world of imperial China. The medium of choice for these artists
was a brush, monochromatic ink, and various scrolls. The intentions of the literati painters weren t to
illustrate environments realistically; instead they were more focused on producing art in ways to
express their opinions and views. Some artwork was formed near nonrepresentational. Literati

This technology is exploited by some to satisfy their curiosity, to learn about new discoverers, and to be challenged by adventures and to satisfy other desires. Despite the privileges it has brought to people s lives, the Internet however has its own disadvantages. Internet addiction is one of the most dangerous and frightening problems that has swept the world in all societies, and it is a new disease of this modern age. Smart Goals Essay Smart Goals Essay Vanessa Goins Grand Canyon University MGT 605 (MGT 605 0103) Leadership Professor Andree Swanson March 21, 2013 Out of the three goals, (Personal, educational, and professional) I chose two of the goals that I am focusing on and that is my personal and educational goals. For my personal goals, I want to create a big picture of what I plan to do in life. Then I want to break them down in order to reach my goals, then once I have them together, then I would start working on them to achieve them. For example(Specific and Measurable goals), I plan on finding a job that has great benefits and the best rate of pay, and one that does not require working on weekends(Monday Friday only), and not working overtime. ... While I am currently in school, I will rely on my instructors, academic counselors, graduation team, the GCU Online Library, and the school s other resources that will give me additional help when I need them. If I feel lost or a subject seems too difficult, then I will ask e mail my instructors and let he or she know that I am having difficulty and that I need help. If I am feeling overwhelmed about school, I will seek the help and advice of my academic counselor to help me come up with a solution to help me feel relaxed and not stressed with taking online classes. I know that I will be successful if I always ask and seek help here at GCU. After all of this being said, I believe that I am a D1 in the development level, which is The Enthusiastic Beginner (Low Competence/High Commitment). I would be enthusiastic and be highly committed to doing my job if I were to have a certain position or even as a student in school on certain levels in my program, but at the same time, I would and still do not yet know all of the ropes yet. Right now I consider myself a very curious, inexperienced person who does quite have the skills required for the job in hand or the things that I have learned in school so far, but I am yet hopeful that I will learn to develop and learn more and more skills in the near future. • 4. Argumentative Essay On Buy Nothing Day The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories, vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up. While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an immediate solution to the issue at hand, the ideals preached by the yearly event can make the participants ... Analysis Of The Movie King Arthur King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Guy Ritchie The action packed movie King Arthur: Legend of the Sword directed by Guy Ritchie, also directed popular films, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is an exhilarating movie which always has you sat on the edge of your seat as the movie is so intense and action packed as it always has something going on whether it be a fight scene or Arthur being told something about his father and his family. King Arthur was a child who was too young to know what happened to his parents as at a young age his parent (Uther Pendragon) the king at the time was killed by Vortigern (Arthur s uncle) due to want of power as he wanted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were some points in the movie when it got confusing such as when King Vortigern made a deal with 3 creatures under his castle where the King has to sacrifice a loved one to become powerful yet the story does not reveal who these creatures are and how they are able to give the King such power. Not even the mage who fights to help Arthur become king tells us who is making Vortigern so powerful. My favourite scene in the movie is the montage of Arthur growing up as a child it shows him being taken into care in the tavern and making friends, learning how to fight then going to adult life when he works and steals for money and will do anything to help his friends and family who helped him since he was a child, along with the music with the sped up scene it goes well together and shows the viewers that Arthur has a nightmare every night about his father dying although he cannot remember exactly what happened. It shows what type of person he is when the montage of him growing up shows him storing away money in boxes behind a wall, no one knows why he was saving all this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Importance Of A Hydroponics And Aquaculture Gardening... Investigation and Planning When contemplating multiple concepts, I ended up deciding that my topic for my personal project is building and maintaining an aquaponics garden. An aquaponics garden is the combination of hydroponics and aquaculture. These terms simply refer to the soil less growing of plants, and the raising and growing of fish in one system. Hydroponics and aquaculture combine together to creating a single, thriving ecosystem. Aquaculture raises the fish that eventually become large enough to be consumed by humans for nutritional value, and the gill bearing aquatic animals provide the waste that the plants use as fertilizer. The soil less growing of plants means to use gravel and the water combined with fish waste to support ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A PowerPoint grants me the ability to provide slides with full descriptions of what I will do and pictures as my supporting details. Scientific and technical innovation is the global context that most precisely describes my topic. When adopting the challenge of a fully functioning ecosystem, I questioned myself as to why I would want to do this. What came to my mind constantly was the reoccurring thought of wanting to help the environment. This subcategory explains that the impact of scientific advances is major on the environment, and this was the original peak of my interest on my topic. The ability to make my own ecosystem with the new advances stops the growing of weeds, the attack of pests on plants, and back pain from gardening, Scientific innovation has eliminated the hassle of gardening, in essence. My prior knowledge on this topic and influences are extensive. My father first thought of wanting to create a project he could do in his free time. He ended up pulling me into the task, and we thought of an aquaponics garden. We both were infatuated with the idea, having both a heavy interest in the science and agricultural field. The topic explored the depths of both of our minds and our interests. This influenced me by thinking of how I could modify this project. This time I would do it on my own and make a smaller model. Prior to creating my miniature model, I knew what materials would be needed. Also, the knowledge of how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Summary Of Globalization Globalization Textbook Readings (Chapters 19 20) Chapter nineteen elaborates on the big picture of globalization and discusses the many definitions; contested meanings; and both cultural and economic aspects of the term. In this chapter, the authors argue that defining the term globalization is difficult, and stress the importance of understanding the spatial and temporal aspects that parallel its geographical scope. Furthermore, this chapter emphasizes that globalization is more than understanding global, national, regional, and local relationships; it is also critical to consider the uneven development, networks, flows, and interconnectedness in the world. In Key Concepts of Geography (KCG), chapter twenty discusses aspects of globalization that relate to the physical and environmental sciences. The chapter emphasizes four key themes related to this: (1) the technologies for enhancing scientific knowledge; (2) the role physical geographers and environmental scientists have in the politicization of the environment; (3) the relationship of physical geography with science and related activity; and (4) the historical and contemporary nature of physical geography. Chapter twenty also mentions the globalization syndrome and highlights the relationship between politics, environment, and development; the participation of geography within modern conservation efforts and historical resource exploitation; and the difficulties that geography has had with concepts which integrate a wide range of different knowledge of the world. Both chapters address the broadness of globalization, but chapter twenty stresses that it is not a term which has been frequently applied in the environmental and physical sciences and it certainly has a place there. In contrast to this, chapter nineteen places much emphasis on the social aspects of globalization. While this is a notable difference, both chapters nineteen and twenty do acknowledge temporal and spatial factors, and also the interconnectedness that globalization often attempts to define. Angel Santizo Finance 320 October 5th 2016 Current Issues In the aftermath of Financial Crisis of 2008 that was caused by poor regulation of the finance industry Dodd Frank was passed. As part of Dodd Frank, The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) was created to enforce federal consumer financial laws and protect consumers in financial marketplaces. Its mission is ensuring financial markets work for consumers and responsible providers for the benefit of the economy as a whole. In order to achieve these goals, the CFPB works to empower consumers by creating tools, answering questions and providing advice to help them understand their choices and shop for the deal that best fits their needs. It also promotes financial education at all stages of life which improves financial outcomes. It publishes research in support of better policies. • 9. Masculinity In Okonkwo From the beginning of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, we see that the main character of the novel, Okonkwo, is a man of action, strength, and impulse. Okonkwo rarely thinks thing through and hardly ever sees the consequences of his actions and how they can affect others. By exerting a heavy hand on his wives and children, his authoritarian style of parenting shines through with the rays of masculinity and dominance pouring into his household. Okonkwo lacks a solid father son relationship with Nwoye because he is insufficient in his ability to control his fears of becoming his underachieving and weak father. Let s be honest here, Okonkwo has a lot of Daddy problems. Every conflict that occurs in the novel is driven by the fact that Okonkwo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important however to note the difference and similarities between Ezinma, Ikemefuna, and Nwoye. From the start, Nwoye is seen in his Okonkwo s eyes as a recreation of his father, which angers Okonkwo greatly and is often the cause of his and Nwoye s extremely abusive relationship Nwoye was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great anxiety for his incipient laziness... (Achebe,13). The treatment that Okonkwo dishes out to Nwoye shapes him into the character he is. Nwoye lacks a self confidence because he lives in fear of the consistent reprimands of his father. Nwoye can never be the man Okonkwo wants him to be because Okonkwo never allows Nwoye to the opportunity to prove himself without being beaten or harshly scorned. This ultimately makes Nwoye the man Okonkwo was fearful of, thus proving again that Okonkwo s fear of weakness leads the charge in the series of unfortunate events in the novel. Unlike Nwoye, Okonkwo genuinely cares for daughter Ezinma because of her strong masculine qualities. I wish she were a boy , Okonkwo thought within himself. She understood things so perfectly. Who else among his children could have read his thoughts so well. (Achebe, 173). Okonkwo thinks of Ezinma as the son he never had as she is a girl. This frustrates Okonkwo because he wants Ezinma to take on more roles of the family, but because she is his daughter he must rely on Nwoye instead of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To what degree might the growing urban middle classes and emerging working class rally for a strong and crucial conservative national state was one of the great political question and the answer to that question came with the national unification of Italy and Germany. Primarily there were three approaches to the unification of Italy. First, Mazzini centralized the democratic republic based on the universal right and the will of the people. Second, Gioberti s a catholic priest headed the federation of existing states, and third, Italian nations were built around the aristocratic kingdom of Sardinia Piedmont as german looked towards ... • 12. The Play Of Louis De Rougemont The title of the play that I saw was Shipwrecked! An Entertainment: The Amazing Adventures of Louis De Rougemont (As told by Himself.) Donald Margulies is the playwright of this play. Arthur Grothe directed the show that I saw and where the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire performed it. The play took place at the Riverside Theater in Haas Fine Arts Center. The play would be considered an action drama, one that was filled with almost every emotion, but the main genre would be action. A learner profile is a tool that helps educators to explore a student s background, assessments, interests, strengths, learning styles, the current level of development, and the priority of learning needs (Positive Partnerships, 2014, Learner Profiles, para. 4). A common form of disability that requires a learner profile is dyslexia. This disability can affect reading, writing, spelling, and speaking. School librarians can collaborate, with teachers, to assist students with disorders, such as dyslexia, to ensure a learning experience that will encourage the student. I will be creating a profile for a young girl with dyslexia. The young girl is eight years old and lives outside of the city limits in low income housing. • 16. The Theme of Hubris in Ancient Greek Mythology and Literature Hubris is a very popular theme in Greek mythology. Hubris was a very important moral concept to the Greeks. Committing hubris was a very serious crime. Hubris is defined as having extreme pride or arrogance. Pride became hubris when it became all consuming or hurtful to others. Other actions that were seen as hubris were acting as if you were equal or more powerful than the gods, or trying to defy them. Hubris was a severe crime that deserved a serious punishment, and it was the downfall of many characters in ancient myths. The importance of Hubris to the Greeks is made obvious by how often it appears as a main theme in their myths. Three stories that show examples of hubris are Oedipus The King, Antigone, and The Story of Phaethon in Ovid s Metamorphoses. The theme of hubris can be seen throughout Oedipus The King, and is the reason for the downfall of more than one character. Oedipus parents, are the first to commit hubris; instead of letting destiny take its course, they acted as if they were more powerful. They attempted to destroy their child and change their fate. Oedipus adoptive parents also commit hubris, as they lie to him about his past. Like his parents, Oedipus believes that he can change his own destiny. His hubris leads to him being irrational, and jumping to conclusions without first analyzing things. This is what leads him to eventually kill his biological father. The Wright brothers spark for aviation began in 1878, Wilbur, the oldest at eleven years old and Orville, seven, when their father gave them a toy helicopter. It sparked them to take it apart and remake it better than it was before they took it apart. Like many other successful people, but not all, the Wright brothers did not go to college. Even though Wilbur was accepted into Yale, he decided not to go because he had his teeth knocked out a few weeks prior. This was his set back, being that he really wanted to go. Despite this setback, in 1892, Wilbur started his bicycle business, manufacturing and producing bikes. He designed and hand made them himself. He went with his passion that he found at the age of eleven, creating and designing. Wilbur Wright was also willing to try something different, and go a different route. Not all pregnancies go as planned as more infants are born before full term, and sometimes between 22 24 weeks of gestation. These infants are at the verge of viability and sometimes resuscitation can lead to morbidity or mortality. Whether health care providers resuscitate or not is an ethical dilemma which all health care providers and family members have to struggle with when it comes to the premature baby as small as the viable fetus. Although recommendations have been made by organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the decision to resuscitate is complex, requiring careful consideration of multiple factors related to each individual case (Powell, et al., 2012) If the infant survives after being resuscitated it may have long term heath issues which can be costly for the family, but some viable fetuses can survive without any negative consequences and live a healthy life. We could not ignore that it is hard and laborious for parents to teach their own child at home, although the child could learn a great deal under the homeschooling. If they send their child to traditional school, more time could be saved and the parent could improve themselves and be an example for their child. For instance, participating in the activities with other kids and learning from them for comparison. Furthermore, attending traditional school could save a ton of money for kids to use it on other skill learning.
