References To My Personal Symbol Of My Hair
My personal symbol is something that it means something that to express my idea, action, and feeling.
My personal symbol come from the place I came from and growing up, the religion I believe. It means
to me a lot for examples, when I cover my hair and when I wear long dress I feel happy because it
makes me feel that I am closer to Allah. My second example is when I wear my cultural cloth I get
excited because a lot of people ask me where did I got from, and where I am from. The dress I wear is
representing a symbol of my country.
I address my personal symbol by covering my hair and wearing long dress especially when I am
fasting or when I go to the mosque to pray on friday and the symbol that I use represents my religion.
I do share my personal

Thief Of Always Character Analysis
Clive Barker s The Thief of Always truly develops the story through Harvey and
Wendell s friendship. Harvey is a brave kind friend to Wendell who on the other hand, is a scaredy cat,
and doesn t always appreciate what Harvey does for him. The two friends work together and are on a
quest to go home but when a stranger walks up onto Harvey s front porch he is forced to turn back and
defeat Mr. Hood. Harvey unlike Wendell hasn t been at the Holiday House for very long. Wendell
knows the in s and out s of the house, while Harvey and Wendell work together to defeat Mr. Hood.
Wendell shows Harvey what he knows about the house and together, take back what Hood stole. Clive
Barker truly shows the significance of the similarities, differences, and the ... Show more content on

Harvey is easily the bravest person in the holiday house. The first place that Harvey shows his bravery
is when he is transmutes into a vampire. The narrator of the story admits that Harvey is brave enough
to do this prank to Wendell. His cry became a whoop;his terror to joy (46). This quote explains how
Harvey cares about Wendell and didn t want to harm him at first but when Jive pushed off the roof and
into the night sky he was brave. He also has a mischievous side underneath all the sweet, caring
Harvey. Harvey s joy got the best of him and turned into bravery. Wendell is a coward compared to his
best friend Harvey. Wendell truly shows his cowardness when Harvey transforms himself into a
vampire. Wendell cries for mercy and eventually gets his way. Don t kill me! Please, please, I beg you
don t kill me (46)! This quote truly proves that Wendell is a coward. It also proves he doesn t have the
investigation side to this scene. Harvey knows when something is wrong or something isn t right. And
this shows that Wendell does not have what it takes to be as brave as Harvey. This exemplifies that
Wendell is not the hero but the hero s sidekick who later on, helps Harvey a lot. This is the most
important part of Harvey and Wendell s friendship. They care about each other. Harvey is kind about
Wendell s weaknesses.

THE BENEFITS OF SARBANES OXLEY AND CORPORATE GOVERNANCE MEASURED

confidence in public companies by forcing them to be transparent in their financial affairs. In order for
companies to comply with the legislation, significant costs need to be incurred without any guarantee

The Anatomy And Physiology Of The Eye
The human eye is a wonderful organ enabling us to perform all our daily tasks. The sense of sight
allows to do almost all activities. There are countless activities including studying, cooking, driving,
or playing an instrument. Other tasks that vision is helpful for would be communicating, working,
making life a lot easier, which are very essential. Most people would agree that vision is more
valuable than the rest. The eyes allow us to interpret colors and shapes. This happens after a long
complex process, starting from the reflect of light on the objects to the eyes and ends up in the brain as
images. Having a healthy eye is very important and improves the quality of a person s life. In this
paper points out the very common eye ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other two portions in this layer are the choroid, the posterior and vascular portion which supplies
blood to all layers and the ciliary body which is a ring of muscles around the lens used to focus the
lens. The lens has a flexible structure that can change shape to precisely focus light on the retina. The
Retina is the very interior layer which consists of two layers. The pigmented outer layer which absorbs
light and prevents scattering. And the Neural layer composed of bipolar cells, ganglion cells and two
types of photoreceptors.
The eye is protected by a cushion of fat and a bony orbit surrounding the eye s anterior part. There are
also accessory structures that protect the eye and help maintain the eye s function. These accessory
structures include the eyelids, eyebrows, lacrimal apparatus, conjunctiva, and the extrinsic eye
muscles. The eyebrows function is to shade the eye from sunlight and keep out perspiration from
reaching the eye. The eyelids contains the nerves that initiate reflex blinking, and protects the eye s
anterior part, because it contains eyelashes at the edges, which prevents debris or small particles like
dust or sand from entering the eye. It also contains lubrication glands to keep the eye moistened, such
as tarsal glands and ciliary glands. The Conjunctiva is a transparent membrane which also produces
mucus. Next, the lacrimal consists of the lacrimal gland and ducts which produces

The New Business Of Emerson
In the year of 1888 a company by the name of ASCO was founded, and the company still exists today
but they are now known as the popular business of Emerson. They were manufacturers of elevators,
compressors and generator controls. But in the year of 1889 a man by the name of Almon Strowger
created the basis for the first practical telephone switch that would later develop into a large scale
system that could hold many phone lines at once. Strowger s original switch had a 10x10 contact bank
that allowed it to hold up to 100 different telephones. That doesn t seem like a lot but based on the
year, this is an innovation that would help change the communication world for the better. In the
Strowger switch, pulses generated by a telephone user directly moved electromagnetic contacts in a
two way motion in a stack of rotary contacts, then a telephone number, selected one digit at a time,
without operator use could be dialed and connected. (http://ethw.org/Electromechanical_Telephone
Switching) The system worked in two different ways. The first being uniselector which is operated by
a selector that is in the starting position and has a moving contact on the end of it called a wiper. These
wipers are used to make electrical connection to the bank contacts or phone lines. The wipers were
operated by an electromagnet called a driving magnet. Current would flow through the windings of
the magnet which would cause an attraction of the armature to establish a connection. As an input

American Voting System Essay

Employee Theft Essays
Essay 5 Are you a victim of employee theft? Did you know that employee theft has cost from small
businesses to major Fortune 500 companies over $37.14 billion in 2010 alone? Fraud against business
includes the theft of physical assets such as cash or inventory. Essentially there are two types of
inventory fraud: physical loss and financial statement fraud. Inventory shrinkage is the term use in
accounting to describe the loss of inventory. Loss of inventory might be due to shoplifting, employee
theft, damage, etc. Inventory fraud can occur in any company. Nearly 50% of retail inventory
shrinkage comes from employee theft. Dr. Hollinger, who conducts the National Retail Security
Survey, reported that shrinkage (as mentioned before) has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Soldier s Dignity In The Life Of A Fallen German Soldier
The thought of being entangled in barbed wire after being shot is an idea that makes me cringe. I
cannot fathom the pain that the soldiers in these situations must have felt, but I can understand the
factors that allowed for their killing. I believe the moral factor most relevant in mercy killing is
dignity. As humans, we offer sympathy for our peers that are suffering. In addition, we help them to
keep their dignity by trying to ease their pains. In the second scenario, the author describes a scene in
which a fallen German soldier screams in pain and calls for his mother throughout the night. It is
understood that the German will not survive as he was stranded, and as members of the same
profession, we should respect the German s dignity by putting him out of his suffering. Considering
that he will not survive, we recognize the pain he feels is unwarranted, so why allow him suffer and
scream? More generally, the purpose of mercy killing is not to commit a malicious act against a friend
or foe, but it is to induce their inevitable death with less suffering. By ending the torment of those in
pain, we are respecting their dignity by not allowing them to experience unnecessary agony. In ...

This is the reason I would respect a person s decision to be killed. There are many scenarios when
people are in shock from the pain they are experiencing, and they do not have the ability to say they
want the agony to end. In these situations, I believe their screams and cries of pain speak for
themselves. I understand the right of self determination can be stretched to where a person s desires
infringe on the rights of others, so I believe everyone has this right until they are harming others. In
times of war, I think I share this belief with many other members of the military, who out of
compassion, could not let their comrades suffer in agony while they watched

Charles Manson s Influence On Society
In almost all lists of famous serial killers, probably the most mentioned among them all is Charles
Manson. With more than 35 documented killings and a cult of disciple murderers, Manson has become
the living embodiment that the devil walks on earth. But what has made this troubled youth into one of
America s feared monsters?
Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934. Named Charles Milles Maddox, he was born and
raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a teenage mom, Kathleen Maddox. His alcoholic and prostitute mother
soon married William Manson but the marriage was short lived. His mother did not want anything to
do with the boy and this pushed him to live on the streets and fend for himself. Pretty soon, Charles
turned to petty crime to survive. By the time he was in his late teens, Charles was introduced to a life
in prison.
Charles met a girl in 1955 whom he married and brought with him to California. There, she became
pregnant and Charles was back into his life of petty crimes leading him to another time in prison in
1956. The young wife eventually left him after a year. After being released, Charles turned to other
crimes such as pimping, using stolen checks and conning a woman of her money. While on probation,
he met a prostitute Candy Stevens, who bore him a second child. By 1960, he was arrested for his
crimes and was sent to a Washington penitentiary.
In prison, troubles never escaped Charles. He once raped a fellow male inmate and he was considered

Moai Creation
If we look around the island, we find evidence of a population that exhausted its resources. Most
likely, the prime culprit for the quick loss of natural resources was the frenzied pace of Moai
construction. It was an enormous effort to carve the Moai and transported to its final location. Given
the rate of consumption to meet the demand for statue construction, natural resources were used up
before there was time for renewal; however, Moai creation would not be the only reason for the
resource depletion. Other sustaining activities like farming, shelter construction, tool creation, and
boat making would utilize the same resource; however, those activities were essential to support the
growing population.
Furthermore, there are no awe inspiring monuments, memorials, or commemorations specifically
implemented to honor these men and their accomplishments. No memorial or monument exists that
generates a sense of amazement like Mount Rushmore, or as iconic as the Lincoln Memorial. The
Monument to the Conquerors of Space in Moscow Russia is the closest thing in this world to generate
the awe and inspiration desired by the key stakeholder, but does that go far enough? Not one

James Weldon Johnson s Poetry
One poet, who s work has been relevant in the black community since the beginning of the twentieth
century, is that of James Weldon Johnson. Spanning the Reconstruction period and the New Negro
(Harlem) Renaissance, Johnson s work change as the time did. Yet, this does not mean that all the
poems in each era were significantly alike. The Gift to Sing and Prayer at Sunrise are both poems the
Johnson published towards the end of the reconstruction period. These poems are related in their
modes and devices used, but have different structures. Moreover both poems use the same Black Arts
patterns, but have differing messages intended for two separate groups of people . Despite the

Because both poems were written doing the Reconstruction, they were both forms of encouragement.
Yet, The Gift to Sing is encouraging the audience to look inwards to find their source of hope and
courage. Phrases such as in my throat, and in my heart reveal this. Prayer at Sunshine, on the other
hand, makes pleads to the great Maker, and Great Father of the sun. This poem is instructing the
audience to turn to God, or a god, because that is who will give provided joy and strength to make it
through each day. Through these different messages, people would be able to find the exact type of
encouragement that they needed. The works of James Weldon Johnson are ones that are still as
important to day, just as they were in 1917. The Gift to Sing and Prayer at Sunrise, are just two of
Johnson s pieces that live on because of their messages of inspiration. Coupled with their dual use of
the same patterns, devices, and related modes, these poems may not seem to be that different. Yet,

very positive, however the family life made growing up somewhat negative. During most of Goodwin
s life, her mother suffered from different illnesses that would cause problems in the household. Most
of the time, her mother, Helen, was too sick to have company over, which was very stereotypical
during that time. When television came around, the family would host gatherings. When Helen was
asked if she could have more gatherings Helen would reply, but I simply can t do it. Even now, I am
so exhausted just from having everyone here that I ve got to lie down for a little while (Goodwin 122).
Goodwin s sister, Jeanne, took many roles that Helen could not because Helen was so sick. Goodwin
stated that, For as long as I can remember, she was a surrogate mother, looking out for me, taking care
of me when my mother was sick (Goodwin 37). Goodwin would recall many stories of Jeanne doing
tasks that their mother would do. This made her Goodwin feel embarrassed, which is where the

How The Ussr Is Still Haunting Europe Essay
How the USSR is Still Haunting Europe
After twenty six years, the nations that were granted independence from the Russian Federation are
still dealing with the affects of the fallout; In particular, Russia s European neighbor, Ukraine. In an
article dated September 29th, from the Russian News Agency TASS, it gives an overview of the recent
implications of the civil war in the Donbass region. Russia and Germany are urging the Ukrainian
Government to follow the Minsk Protocol, in order to keep peace and maintain a working relationship
between all the countries listed on the agreement (TASS 2016). There has been constant conflict in the
Donbass region since the beginning of 2014, with times of cease fire, but nothing significant. The
conflict is a result of the Russian demographic in Eastern Ukraine, wanting separation from a Western
influenced Ukraine. This paper will examine the geographical aspect of this relationship and how it
has affected the conflict.
How History and Geography have Played a Role
At the beginning of the twentieth century, a socialist political party, the Bolsheviks, formed the USSR
after a five year power struggle. It brought about a union of many different republics, into one united
nation that looked to change the world into a centrally controlled power. Although there were many
issues had between the Soviet Union and the rest of the world, it was a key helper to the allied forces

T. F. Thistleton Dyer s The Ghost World
The Banshee, originally known as the Irish fairy creature, originated in the Celtic Isles of Ireland,
Scotland, and Great Britain. This legend has been passed down through generations due to its
persistent haunting nature. The angry female spirit flies several feet above the ground at night
terrifying people with her ghostly screams. A Banshees high pitched shrieking foresees the death of
someone shortly to come.
The ghostly woman has no physical body, but she may appear wearing a long funeral robe and
unkempt hair. Though this is the most common, it is only one of the several different forms in which
the banshee may appear. The old hag is also said to be seen as a washerwoman washing the blood off
someone s clothes who is about to die. She may also appear as a unearthly, beautiful young woman.
No matter her age she almost always is characterized as wearing a long flowing robe with long hair of
the same color.
This fairy woman has been known in Gaelic myths and legends for centuries, but as early as 1898 she
made her first appearance in literature. In T. F. Thistleton Dyer s The Ghost World he explains how
only ancient families are honored with the visit of the Banshee. Although through not much honor but

Art is whatever you want it to be. The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It seems like today, art is

yourself through art. It is a way to relay your feelings to the general public. It seems that the best art,

Analysis Of Miss Representation By Jennifer Siebel Newson

Thought Paper
The video, Miss Representation , produced by Jennifer Siebel Newson, brings to light the challenges
that women endure on a daily basis due to stereotypes and the media s negative and one minded
representation of women. Women are viewed in a certain way that makes them receive less respect in
positions of power, because as the video shows women are viewed for their bodies and looks versus
their intellectual knowledge. The video shows that women are not appreciated for their academic
achievements, but they are appreciated for their dress size, makeup, hair, and overall looks. In today s
society, young girls grow up to think that men will only want them if they look ... Show more content

The film could have focused a small portion on the strength of a mother. Overall, this film opened my
eyes to the large role that the media has in portraying women. It was enlightening to view how much
American society believes in stereotypes, and the social role theory. Men and women both have the
capacity to hold powerful positions in society. Women should be celebrated for more than their body,

Ed Neumeister s Birds Of Prey
Ed Neumeister, a former member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, is a versatile trombonist, composer,
arranger, and conductor who debuted his 17 piece jazz orchestra The NeuHat Ensemble in 1983. Since
then, the reputed band has accommodated several jazz luminaries such as Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner,
and Don Byron, just to name a few. Subjected to alterations in its lineup throughout the years, the
ensemble was reunited after Neumeister has returned to the US from Austria, where he taught for

This piece, composed in 1995 and previously recorded for the Jazz Big Band Graz record, exudes
scented spring breezes with dulcet benevolence and optimistic oceanic textures, featuring delightful

With an impactful dramatic punch, New Groove is buoyed by hi hat cymbal and a groovy cadence of

with orchestral usurpations.
The title Reflection was well chosen for a piece that achieves the desired levels of symphonic

Compare and contrast India and China s population
China and India are the two countries that have the highest population in the world. Both countries
have realised that family planning and population control had to happen around the 1950 s for India
and the 1970 s for China. This essay will seek to compare and contrast China and India, focusing on
what the major problems facing both are, why have they both had to implement policies regarding
population control, and the long term and short term effects that these policies have on the two
countries.
The major problem concerning China is over population. Due to overpopulation, the demand for

Around the 1950s, India was the first country to officially establish a family planning program. This
program made birth control information to become more readably available. India s government saw
big families leading to continued poverty, and poverty hindering economic progress. Just as with
China, India saw foresaw that the country would not be able to feed the masses of people, and the
country would eventually use up all of its resources and the population would ultimately breed
themselves out of existence. Up until the 1970 s, the government used no aggressive force to promote
the use of contraceptives or sterilisations. They increased medical care and access to hospitals, and
provided education for family planning. In the 1970 s the government declared India to be in a state of
emergency . Medical workers went out into the slums and poorer regions of India and forcibly
sterilised women. The medics were rewarded for how many women they were able to sterilise.
An effect that the one child policy has had on China is the improvement of the economy. When there
was a larger population than there is now, the economy was suffering. Since the one child policy has
had time to take effect, the population has shrunk and the economy can support the population. A
negative effect that this policy has had on the Population is that there is an uneven balance of boys and

Leak About Thomas Perez Essay
Leak About Thomas Perez
Leaks of government affairs have always been common in Washington DC. When a person first hears
the word leak, they most likely think of a story that was not meant to be published or shown to the
public, but this is not always the case. Some politicians or government officials will leak information
just to see a reaction from the general public. This tactic is called a trial balloon. This tactic is seen in
an article that was posted in The New York Times in 2014 about the possible nomination of Labor
Secretary, Thomas Perez, for Attorney General.

A trial balloon allows the White House to test the response to a potential nominee and unleash a round
of public vetting before the president puts his prestige on the line . This shows that a trial balloon is
just a common tool for politicians in government to utilize. The president wanted to put out his
potential nomination in order to see the response he would get.
The author of the article then goes on to talk about the response from both sides of the political
parties. The author states that the nomination of Perez would be strongly supported from minority
groups while Republicans would strongly disagree with this nomination. The author shows no
preference as to whether he agrees with the President but instead examines both sides and the different
responses he would most likely get. He states that the Republicans think that Perez is just going to
bring in more illegal immigrants to take American jobs and that democrats believe his modest
upbringing and the fact that he worked his way through college would make him a good candidate.
President Obama can use all of this information when deciding on who he will eventually nominate

Tybalt Capulet s Contribution to the Overall Theme of the Play: Romeo and Juliet.
The title of the play is Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. Love and fate is the major
theme outlined in the play. Tybalt Capulet, Juliet s cousin, is a secondary character to the play with
overwhelming contributions in the play. He was known for his testosterone motivation and his
handiness with the sword. He killed Mercutio, who was Romeo s friend, in a street brawl. In return,
Romeo stabbed him to death. This led to Romeo being banished from Verona. After Romeo s
banishment, Juliet s parents arranged her a wedding with Paris. She, in turn, made a plan to fake her
death for 42 hours. Romeo came back and found Juliet dead and killed himself (Shakespeare, 1597).
Tybalt Capulet, although a secondary character, started the chain of reaction that turned the happy
marriage of Romeo and Juliet into fateful occurrences. He created the theme of fate and vehemently,

RSV will usually affect one s upper respiratory tract first before affecting the lower. It is also more
common that this virus will affect someone s upper respiratory rather than the lower respiratory.
Someone with an upper respiratory infection may come across as having the common cold, tonsillitis,
the flu, and etc. The flu is also able to occur in someone who has a lower respiratory tract infection, as
well as, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, and tuberculosis ( Respiratory Tract Infections, 2014).
RSV is a virus that is hard to diagnosis because the signs and symptoms are a lot like the common
cold. One may start to develop a runny nose or decrease in appetite the first couple of days when
having this virus; but coughing, sneezing, and wheezing may also occur. In young infants, they may
experience irritability or difficulties with breathing ( CDC, 2014). One may have this virus before
realizing the symptoms like a dry cough, low grade fever, sore throat or headache (Mayo Clinic,
1998). Someone with an upper respiratory tract infection may have a fever, headache, sore throat or
wheezing; whereas someone with a lower respiratory tract infection may have a cough, increased
breathing rate, tightness in the chest. While both tract infections should be taken seriously, they both
can lead to RSV.
Bronchitis and Bronchiolitis are also two very serious infections that may lead to RSV.

Groundwater Pumping In Florida
Groundwater Pumping The state of Florida is very dependent on groundwater, primarily for public and
agricultural supply. Indeed, the largest source of drinking water in Florida is groundwater from the
state s massive aquifer system; approximately ninety percent of the state s drinking water is extracted
from groundwater sources (Marella, 2004). According to Marella (2004), Between 1970 and 2000,
total freshwater withdrawals increased for public supply by 176 percent and for agricultural self
supplied by 87 percent (p. 1). As discussed previously, a growing population correlates with an
increase in the demand for groundwater resources. Groundwater is currently being pumped out of
Florida s aquifers faster than the state s abundant rainfall can refill them (Barnett, 2007, p.2). The
excessive pumping of groundwater can create subsurface voids because of the lowering of the water
table, which can lead to the development of sinkholes due to gravity and a loss of fluid pressure
support (Tihansky, 1999, p. 132). Waltham et al (2005) contend, The most widespread cause of
induced sinkholes is any form of water table decline, where the vertical drainage is quite literally

China s Economic Growth Is Unstable, Unbalanced,...
In the National People s Congress press conference in March 2007, China s Premier Wen Jiabao
argues the biggest problem with China s economy is that its economic growth is unstable, unbalanced,
uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Since export and investment play unsustainable roles in increasing
China s real GDP, this study tries to testify how consumption enhances the sustainability of China s
real GDP in the short run over a long period of time. As Krugman (1994) suggests, increase in the
economic growth rate in the steady state can only be attained by the technological progress. However,
it is also true that the increase in consumption will increase the real GDP in the short run. Based on the
fact that the current ratio of consumption over output in China is much smaller than that of other
countries, such as Japan and the United States, a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP in the
short run. Since it takes several years for China to change its economic structure toward consumption,
the accumulation of each larger real GDP in the short run will result in a much larger real GDP in the
long run. In other words, the increase in consumption will increase China s economic growth rate
indirectly. Therefore, this study uses a macroeconmetric model of Chinese economy to quantify what
China s real GDP would be in a series of increases in the ratio of consumption over output, spread
over a long period of time and predicts what China s real GDP level will be in the future

Psychopathy Research
According to Harris et al, psychopathy is best described as a lifelong persistent condition
characterized, in males at least, by aggression beginning in early childhood, impulsivity, resistance to
punishment, general lack of emotional attachment or concern for others, dishonesty and selfishness in
social interactions (Walker).
Accounting for a small portion of the population, psychopaths have distinguished characteristics. They
can be charming and likeable, yet at the same time be egotistical, short tempered and impulsive. The
most significant trait that exists in psychopaths is their lack of guilt, empathy, or emotion in general.
For instance, after committing crimes, they will remain indifferent and lack remorse (Hare; Bower).
The cause ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Wiebe, Psychopathy does seem to be heritable, and appears to have its basis at least in
part in biological factors linked to basic emotional systems, so that the mature psychopath never
develops a complete set of pro social emotions like empathy, guilt, and the ability to truly care about
and for others (Hunter). Scientists regard psychopathy with a genetic disorder that affects the brain, or
more specifically the amygdala. The amygdala is a structure in the brain that senses and danger
(Bower). Scientists have determined that there is no such thing as a specific crime gene , however,
they have been able to discover a genes that has a correlation with violence and antisocial behavior
that most psychopaths have in common. This gene is known as MAO A (Walker). MOAA has been
associated with amygdala response and increased amygdala responses can make a person more hostile

Blockbuster has nearly 100 percent recognition among active movie renters in the United States.
Combined with market leadership, this makes Blockbuster one of the strongest entertainment brands

That has left companies such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, Movie Gallery, and independent
operations fighting over ever smaller pieces of the entertainment pie. In the Early 1990 s, there were
about 70,000 stores around the country that rented videos. Today, there are about 18,000. ( Movie
rental business in steep decline , 2005) Blockbuster is a large company with 40% market share (Dow

Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy
Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy
Thomas Edison State College
Men face many health risks as they age. It is important for men to have regular check ups with their
primary care physician. One area men should pay close attention to is the prostate. The prostate is a
male reproductive gland that produces the fluid that carries sperm during ejaculation. It surrounds the
urethra, the tube through which urine passes out of the body. As men age, past the age of fifty, it is
common for the prostate to become enlarged, a condition known as BPH. BPH stands for benign (non
cancerous) prostatic hyperplasia or hypertrophy. It is a condition where the prostate becomes enlarged
making urination more difficult by narrowing the urethra. BPH can be ... Show more content on

recurrent blood in the urine, urinary retention, recurrent UTI s, kidney failure or bladder stones. There
are a few surgical options for BPH. The type of procedure is usually based on the severity of your
symptoms and the size and shape of your prostate gland. The first procedure is called a transurethral
resection of the prostate also known as TURP. This is the most common and most proven treatment for
BPH. A TURP is performed by inserting a scope through the penis and removing the prostate piece by
piece. The next surgical option is known as transurethral incision of the prostate also known as TUIP.
The procedure is similar to a TURP, but is usually performed to men who have a smaller prostate. This
procedure does not usually require a hospital stay. Similar to a TURP, a scope is inserted through the
penis until the prostate is reached. Then a small incision is

The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life
When an individual enters the presence of others, they commonly seek to acquire information about
him or to bring into play information about him already possessed. They will be interested in his
general socio economic status, his conception of self, his attitude towards them, his competence, his
trustworthiness, etc. Although some of this information is sought as an end in itself, there are usually
quite practical reasons for acquiring it. Information about the individual helps to define the situation,
enabling others to know in advance what he will expect of them and what they may expect of him.
Informed in these ways, the others will know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The image my parents may have thought me to be, at times, actually was not me. I wanted to be my
parent s princess and the golden child, so I acted in a way to seek their approval which in some ways
was not the real me. These conditions occur because of the existence of self presentational rules
according to Goffman. When one individual enters the presence of others, he will want to discover the
facts of the situation. Were he to possess this information. Also when meeting an individual we try to
get information about them so we can act accordingly to their approval. How we act with one friend
may not be the way we act with another. We determine the person s status and attitude and decide for
ourselves if we want to be a part of that. When we gather the information when first meeting someone,
it determines the way we think and act towards them. Erving Goffman revolves his view of the human
life around the belief that we are all actors who have both a front stage behavior and a back stage
behavior. From an early age we have become skilled actors and move in and out of roles with
precision such as with our family and friends. We follow the formal societal rules when we are on the
front stage reciting a script, playing a role. This would include going to work, presenting ourselves as
the person we should uphold to take part in society. On the other side, Goffman says our back stage
behavior is informal, as we d act when we are

Habits Of Covey
Stephen Covey, an American business man and author, said that there are 7 habits that effective people
have, though in the book there are actually 8 habits. The text explains how many individuals who have
achieved a high degree of success and find themselves still struggling with a need to develop a
personal effectiveness and growing healthy relationships with other people. Covey believes the way
we see the world is entirely based on our own perceptions. In order to change a given situation, we
must change ourselves, and in order to change ourselves, we must be able to change our perceptions.
The book starts with the list of habits that Stephen Covey created each with a brief explanation, next
comes the defining a habit and explaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Iago as an Evil Manipulator in William Shakespeare s Othello
The statement Iago is an evil manipulator in my opinion is true. I see Iago as psychologically astute,
deceiving and a misanthrope. His sadistic character hurts everyone in a web of deceit. Iago is
Shakespeare s most plausible and intriguing villains.
The main themes in this play are appearance and reality, love, hate and jealousy.
I intend to focus on Iago and see how his character changes and how his plan unfolds in scenes Act 1
scene 3, act 2 scene 3 and act 3 scenes 3 and 4.
At the end of Act 1 scene 3, we are aware of Iago s jealousy of Othello and he reveals his scheme to
destroy him as his envious ways lead him to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Othello finds out about this fight he dismisses Cassio from office. Iago later on suggests that
Cassio should approach Desdemona about his reinstatement. Her good nature and her influence over
Othello will restore Cassio to office. Iago is manipulating Cassio without him knowing, it seems as
though he is actually helping but Iago s help is working in his own favour.
The quotes I protest, in the sincerity of love and honest kindness (Iago line 297) and Good night,
honest Iago. (Cassio line 303) shows dramatic irony.
The soliloquy at the end of this scene creates atmosphere. It allows us to see into Iago s mind and we
see just how evil he really is as he spells out his plans to lie to Othello about Desdemona and Cassio.
He knows that Desdemona pleading to Othello about reinstating Cassio is going to make this lie more
believable.
Act 3 Scene 3 is a key scene of this play; it is the temptation scene . We see Othello s character
develop to a monster full of passionate jealousy and hatred towards his wife Desdemona as Iago plants
the seeds of doubt.
The scene starts with Michael Cassio talking to Desdemona because Othello dismisses him as his
lieutenant and he fears that there is no chance he will get his job back.
When Othello walks in and sees his wife talking to Cassio, Iago says:
Ha! I like not that. (Line

Strongest Learning Experience
My strongest learning experience was to be patient. I used to not be very patient towards people, when
it comes to common sense or little things like saying your phone number or date of birth. I easily
forget that in different parts of the world the date of birth is given differently. In some countries, the
month is first just like here others the year is first but in most Latin countries the day is first. Having to
asked numerous times during the day for the date of birth of individuals and for their phone numbers,
and they are giving me these numbers in so many ways use to drive me insane. at the end of the day I
would find myself almost screaming on the phone, saying no, no, that is not the way you suppose to
say it. After reading the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Neanderthal and Early Modern Humans Essay
Neanderthal and Early Modern Humans
The history of life on earth goes back to millions of years. Many species and creatures evolved and
changed through time, leading up to what we know today as, modern man. One of the creatures most
similar to modern man is the Neanderthals; they are sometimes referred to as early modern humans.
An article entitled Early man steered clear of Neanderthal romance by Michael Hopkin, explains that
there was a discovery that early human ancestors of modern man did not breed with their cousins, the
Neanderthals, according to DNA that has been studied. Neanderthals vanished from Europe between
30,000 and 40,000 years ago, roughly the time that truly modern man made his first appearance in ...

There were 24 Neanderthal remains and 40 early modern human remains that were studied. The
bimolecular preservation of DNA of five early humans and four Neanderthals was helpful enough for
the preservation.
All four Neanderthals yielded the mtDNA sequences similar to those previously determined from
Neanderthal individuals, whereas none of the five early modern humans contained such mtDNA
sequences. In combination with current mtDNA data, this excludes any large genetic contribution by
Neanderthals to early modern humans, but does not rule out the possibility of a smaller contribution
(Serre, 16 March 2004).
Therefore, early modern humans and Neanderthals could have been around and breeding at the same
time, it is just a small chance.
Between 30,000 and 40,000 years ago, Neanderthals were gone from Europe (where these fossils were
found). Right around that time, the early modern humans were beginning to migrate to parts of
Europe. This brings up the point that it could be possible that Neanderthals and early modern humans
came eye to eye, but no one knows what the reactions and attitudes were like if that were true. This is
a question of the history of life, did they exist simultaneously, and did they interact?
Despite intense research efforts, no consensus has been reached about the genetic relationship between
early modern humans and archaic human forms such as the Neanderthals (Serre, 16 March 2004). It is

Waking Life
Most (i didn t really even know what to make of it. its the kid from that movie dazed and confused
basically trying to find out the meaning of life and his identity and shit.. and hes like constantly in this
dreamworld.. that he cannot seem to wake up of.. he cannot differentiate his dreams from reality. so
one of the points is that there is no waking life...there is life and nothing else....each experience is an
experience, nothing more or nothing less, each has the same value...the things you experience in your
dreams are life itself... also...a lot of stress on wherever you are is the place to be...accept that every
moment has the potential for greatness Waking Life is clearly an experiment, and, as such, looks and

It merely presents thoughts to get you thinking. At its core, all this movie is is a bunch of people
jabbering about what they think life and death are, what they mean, and how they relate to each other.
Part of the rub that actually makes all this a good thing is that these people, whether you agree with
them or not, say very interesting things. Most (though not all) is garden variety level coffee shop
theorizing, but the ideas are so well expressed that they don t require a doobie toke to be engaging.
There s so much to explore and discuss in Waking Life that this review could lack a central focus or
structure. it was such a joy to watch. the artistry was fucking incredible. But I digress—the lack of
structure. While it does nothing more than meander, the thread that ties it all is found in the concept
itself, that concept being this film is all just the dream of one young twenty something. This unnamed
dreamer (voiced by Linklater vet Wiley Wiggins) literally floats around from person to person,
engaging some while eavesdropping on others. Growing more and more conscious of his dream state
in the process, the dreamer realizes he s trapped, falling out of one dream state and into another. Pretty
soon he begins to wonder is this life itself? . Whether it be with a concept, an idea, a person, or with
God, it s clear that the shared motivation is the longing for connection. Some force it by looking too

My personal symbol come from the place I came from and growing up, the religion I believe. It means to me a lot for examples, when I cover my hair and when I wear long dress I feel happy because it makes me feel that I am closer to Allah. My second example is when I wear my cultural cloth I get excited because a lot of people ask me where did I got from, and where I am from. The dress I wear is representing a symbol of my country. I address my personal symbol by covering my hair and wearing long dress especially when I am fasting or when I go to the mosque to pray on friday and the symbol that I use represents my religion. • 3. Thief Of Always Character Analysis Clive Barker s The Thief of Always truly develops the story through Harvey and Wendell s friendship. Harvey is a brave kind friend to Wendell who on the other hand, is a scaredy cat, and doesn t always appreciate what Harvey does for him. The two friends work together and are on a quest to go home but when a stranger walks up onto Harvey s front porch he is forced to turn back and defeat Mr. Hood. Harvey unlike Wendell hasn t been at the Holiday House for very long. Wendell knows the in s and out s of the house, while Harvey and Wendell work together to defeat Mr. Hood. Wendell shows Harvey what he knows about the house and together, take back what Hood stole. Clive Barker truly shows the significance of the similarities, differences, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Harvey is easily the bravest person in the holiday house. The first place that Harvey shows his bravery is when he is transmutes into a vampire. The narrator of the story admits that Harvey is brave enough to do this prank to Wendell. His cry became a whoop;his terror to joy (46). This quote explains how Harvey cares about Wendell and didn t want to harm him at first but when Jive pushed off the roof and into the night sky he was brave. He also has a mischievous side underneath all the sweet, caring Harvey. Harvey s joy got the best of him and turned into bravery. Wendell is a coward compared to his best friend Harvey. Wendell truly shows his cowardness when Harvey transforms himself into a vampire. Wendell cries for mercy and eventually gets his way. Don t kill me! Please, please, I beg you don t kill me (46)! This quote truly proves that Wendell is a coward. It also proves he doesn t have the investigation side to this scene. Harvey knows when something is wrong or something isn t right. And this shows that Wendell does not have what it takes to be as brave as Harvey. This exemplifies that Wendell is not the hero but the hero s sidekick who later on, helps Harvey a lot. This is the most important part of Harvey and Wendell s friendship. They care about each other. Harvey is kind about Wendell s weaknesses. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The eyebrows function is to shade the eye from sunlight and keep out perspiration from reaching the eye. The eyelids contains the nerves that initiate reflex blinking, and protects the eye s anterior part, because it contains eyelashes at the edges, which prevents debris or small particles like dust or sand from entering the eye. • 9. The New Business Of Emerson In the year of 1888 a company by the name of ASCO was founded, and the company still exists today but they are now known as the popular business of Emerson. They were manufacturers of elevators, compressors and generator controls. But in the year of 1889 a man by the name of Almon Strowger created the basis for the first practical telephone switch that would later develop into a large scale system that could hold many phone lines at once. Strowger s original switch had a 10x10 contact bank that allowed it to hold up to 100 different telephones. That doesn t seem like a lot but based on the year, this is an innovation that would help change the communication world for the better. In the Strowger switch, pulses generated by a telephone user directly moved electromagnetic contacts in a two way motion in a stack of rotary contacts, then a telephone number, selected one digit at a time, without operator use could be dialed and connected. (http://ethw.org/Electromechanical_Telephone Switching) The system worked in two different ways. The first being uniselector which is operated by a selector that is in the starting position and has a moving contact on the end of it called a wiper. These wipers are used to make electrical connection to the bank contacts or phone lines. The wipers were operated by an electromagnet called a driving magnet. Current would flow through the windings of the magnet which would cause an attraction of the armature to establish a connection. As an input ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Did you know that employee theft has cost from small businesses to major Fortune 500 companies over $37.14 billion in 2010 alone? Fraud against business includes the theft of physical assets such as cash or inventory. Essentially there are two types of inventory fraud: physical loss and financial statement fraud. Inventory shrinkage is the term use in accounting to describe the loss of inventory. Loss of inventory might be due to shoplifting, employee theft, damage, etc. Inventory fraud can occur in any company. Nearly 50% of retail inventory shrinkage comes from employee theft. • 12. A Soldier s Dignity In The Life Of A Fallen German Soldier The thought of being entangled in barbed wire after being shot is an idea that makes me cringe. I cannot fathom the pain that the soldiers in these situations must have felt, but I can understand the factors that allowed for their killing. I believe the moral factor most relevant in mercy killing is dignity. As humans, we offer sympathy for our peers that are suffering. In addition, we help them to keep their dignity by trying to ease their pains. In the second scenario, the author describes a scene in which a fallen German soldier screams in pain and calls for his mother throughout the night. It is understood that the German will not survive as he was stranded, and as members of the same profession, we should respect the German s dignity by putting him out of his suffering. Considering that he will not survive, we recognize the pain he feels is unwarranted, so why allow him suffer and scream? More generally, the purpose of mercy killing is not to commit a malicious act against a friend or foe, but it is to induce their inevitable death with less suffering. By ending the torment of those in pain, we are respecting their dignity by not allowing them to experience unnecessary agony. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I understand the right of self determination can be stretched to where a person s desires infringe on the rights of others, so I believe everyone has this right until they are harming others. • 13. Charles Manson s Influence On Society In almost all lists of famous serial killers, probably the most mentioned among them all is Charles Manson. With more than 35 documented killings and a cult of disciple murderers, Manson has become the living embodiment that the devil walks on earth. But what has made this troubled youth into one of America s feared monsters? Charles Manson was born on November 12, 1934. Named Charles Milles Maddox, he was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, to a teenage mom, Kathleen Maddox. His alcoholic and prostitute mother soon married William Manson but the marriage was short lived. His mother did not want anything to do with the boy and this pushed him to live on the streets and fend for himself. Pretty soon, Charles turned to petty crime to survive. By the time he was in his late teens, Charles was introduced to a life in prison. Charles met a girl in 1955 whom he married and brought with him to California. There, she became pregnant and Charles was back into his life of petty crimes leading him to another time in prison in 1956. The young wife eventually left him after a year. After being released, Charles turned to other crimes such as pimping, using stolen checks and conning a woman of her money. While on probation, he met a prostitute Candy Stevens, who bore him a second child. By 1960, he was arrested for his crimes and was sent to a Washington penitentiary. • 14. Moai Creation If we look around the island, we find evidence of a population that exhausted its resources. Most likely, the prime culprit for the quick loss of natural resources was the frenzied pace of Moai construction. It was an enormous effort to carve the Moai and transported to its final location. Given the rate of consumption to meet the demand for statue construction, natural resources were used up before there was time for renewal; however, Moai creation would not be the only reason for the resource depletion. Other sustaining activities like farming, shelter construction, tool creation, and boat making would utilize the same resource; however, those activities were essential to support the growing population. Furthermore, there are no awe inspiring monuments, memorials, or commemorations specifically implemented to honor these men and their accomplishments. No memorial or monument exists that generates a sense of amazement like Mount Rushmore, or as iconic as the Lincoln Memorial. The Monument to the Conquerors of Space in Moscow Russia is the closest thing in this world to generate the awe and inspiration desired by the key stakeholder, but does that go far enough? A cold and RSV are a lot alike, in the way that they both may come across as cold like symptoms, but this is not the case. Throughout this report one will find out what the differences between a common cold and RSV are, the signs and symptoms a toddler may have with this virus, the treatments one may face and ways to prevent this awful and dangerous virus. RSV will usually affect one s upper respiratory tract first before affecting the lower. It is also more common that this virus will affect someone s upper respiratory rather than the lower respiratory. Someone with an upper respiratory infection may come across as having the common cold, tonsillitis, the flu, and etc. The flu is also able to occur in someone who has a lower respiratory tract infection, as well as, bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, and tuberculosis ( Respiratory Tract Infections, 2014). RSV is a virus that is hard to diagnosis because the signs and symptoms are a lot like the common cold. One may start to develop a runny nose or decrease in appetite the first couple of days when having this virus; but coughing, sneezing, and wheezing may also occur. In young infants, they may experience irritability or difficulties with breathing ( CDC, 2014). One may have this virus before realizing the symptoms like a dry cough, low grade fever, sore throat or headache (Mayo Clinic, 1998). Someone with an upper respiratory tract infection may have a fever, headache, sore throat or wheezing; whereas someone with a lower respiratory tract infection may have a cough, increased breathing rate, tightness in the chest. While both tract infections should be taken seriously, they both can lead to RSV. Bronchitis and Bronchiolitis are also two very serious infections that may lead to RSV. ... • 37. Groundwater Pumping In Florida Groundwater Pumping The state of Florida is very dependent on groundwater, primarily for public and agricultural supply. Indeed, the largest source of drinking water in Florida is groundwater from the state s massive aquifer system; approximately ninety percent of the state s drinking water is extracted from groundwater sources (Marella, 2004). According to Marella (2004), Between 1970 and 2000, total freshwater withdrawals increased for public supply by 176 percent and for agricultural self supplied by 87 percent (p. 1). As discussed previously, a growing population correlates with an increase in the demand for groundwater resources. Groundwater is currently being pumped out of Florida s aquifers faster than the state s abundant rainfall can refill them (Barnett, 2007, p.2). The excessive pumping of groundwater can create subsurface voids because of the lowering of the water table, which can lead to the development of sinkholes due to gravity and a loss of fluid pressure support (Tihansky, 1999, p. 132). Waltham et al (2005) contend, The most widespread cause of induced sinkholes is any form of water table decline, where the vertical drainage is quite literally drawn down to greater depths (p. 165). • 38. China s Economic Growth Is Unstable, Unbalanced,... In the National People s Congress press conference in March 2007, China s Premier Wen Jiabao argues the biggest problem with China s economy is that its economic growth is unstable, unbalanced, uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Since export and investment play unsustainable roles in increasing China s real GDP, this study tries to testify how consumption enhances the sustainability of China s real GDP in the short run over a long period of time. As Krugman (1994) suggests, increase in the economic growth rate in the steady state can only be attained by the technological progress. However, it is also true that the increase in consumption will increase the real GDP in the short run. Based on the fact that the current ratio of consumption over output in China is much smaller than that of other countries, such as Japan and the United States, a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP in the short run. Since it takes several years for China to change its economic structure toward consumption, the accumulation of each larger real GDP in the short run will result in a much larger real GDP in the long run. In other words, the increase in consumption will increase China s economic growth rate indirectly. Therefore, this study uses a macroeconmetric model of Chinese economy to quantify what China s real GDP would be in a series of increases in the ratio of consumption over output, spread over a long period of time and predicts what China s real GDP level will be in the future ... When one individual enters the presence of others, he will want to discover the facts of the situation. Were he to possess this information. Also when meeting an individual we try to get information about them so we can act accordingly to their approval. How we act with one friend may not be the way we act with another. From an early age we have become skilled actors and move in and out of roles with precision such as with our family and friends. We follow the formal societal rules when we are on the front stage reciting a script, playing a role. This would include going to work, presenting ourselves as the person we should uphold to take part in society. Many species and creatures evolved and changed through time, leading up to what we know today as, modern man. One of the creatures most similar to modern man is the Neanderthals; they are sometimes referred to as early modern humans. An article entitled Early man steered clear of Neanderthal romance by Michael Hopkin, explains that there was a discovery that early human ancestors of modern man did not breed with their cousins, the Neanderthals, according to DNA that has been studied. There were 24 Neanderthal remains and 40 early modern human remains that were studied. The bimolecular preservation of DNA of five early humans and four Neanderthals was helpful enough for the preservation. All four Neanderthals yielded the mtDNA sequences similar to those previously determined from Neanderthal individuals, whereas none of the five early modern humans contained such mtDNA sequences. In combination with current mtDNA data, this excludes any large genetic contribution by Neanderthals to early modern humans, but does not rule out the possibility of a smaller contribution (Serre, 16 March 2004). Therefore, early modern humans and Neanderthals could have been around and breeding at the same time, it is just a small chance. Between 30,000 and 40,000 years ago, Neanderthals were gone from Europe (where these fossils were found). Right around that time, the early modern humans were beginning to migrate to parts of Europe. This brings up the point that it could be possible that Neanderthals and early modern humans came eye to eye, but no one knows what the reactions and attitudes were like if that were true. This is a question of the history of life, did they exist simultaneously, and did they interact?
