INTRODUCTION
Recruitment is the process of
• identifying the need for a job,
• defining the requirements of the position and
the job holder,
• advertising the position and
• choosing the most appropriate person for the
job.
Definition
• “ Recruitment is the process of searching for
prospective employees and stimulating and
encouraging them to apply for jobs in the
organization”

Types of Recruitment Needs..
• Planned: Arises from changes in organization and
retirement policy.
• Unexpected: Arises during resignations, deaths,
accidents and illness.
• Anticipated: Refers to those movements in
personnel which an organization can predict by
studying trends in the internal and external
environments

3. Choosing a Source
4. Managing the response
5. Short listing

Methods of Recruitment
• Direct Methods:- In this employee contacts,
manned exhibits and waiting lists are used.
• Indirect Methods:- It includes advertisement
in newspapers, journals on radio and
television are used to publicize vacancies.
• Third Party Methods:- When agencies are
used to recruit personnel e.g. Consulting
Agencies, Employment Exchanges.
INTERNAL SOURCE
• Promotions------Promotion means an
improvement in pay , position, authority,
status and responsibilities of an employee
within the organisation . Many achieve
promotion through hard work and good
performance .
Transfers
• Whenever a new vacancy is created within
the organisation management may fill the
vacancy through transfer of existing
employees rather than employing a new
hand.
